This Community Service Program (KKM-PKM) aims to introduce early entrepreneurship and the use of digital wallet applications to Generation Alpha in Kepayang Village. With the rapid advancement of technology and changing patterns in economic behavior, it is crucial for young generations, especially Generation Alpha, to understand entrepreneurship and financial technology skills, such as digital wallets, which are increasingly relevant in daily life. Through an interactive and practical educational approach, this activity involved elementary school students in Kepayang Village. The program included basic entrepreneurship training, covering identifying business opportunities, simple financial management, and simulations of using digital wallet applications like OVO, GoPay, and Dana. The program's results showed high enthusiasm from the participants and an increased understanding of the importance of entrepreneurship and digital wallets in everyday life. It is hoped that this initiative will equip Generation Alpha with relevant skills to face future economic challenges.

The animation industry in Indonesia has shown significant growth in recent years, fuelled by the increasing demand for creative content across various media platforms, such as film, television, social media, and gaming. This research aims to identify business opportunities in Indonesia's animation sector and analyze the factors influencing its growth. The research method used is a literature study and a survey of local animation industry players, including animation studios, independent animators, and educational institutions. The results show that technological support, increased access to digital platforms, and government programs that encourage creativity provide excellent opportunities for the growth of the animation industry in Indonesia. However, challenges such as lack of investment, limited skilled human resources, and lack of access to international markets must be overcome. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of strengthening the animation industry ecosystem through collaboration between the education sector, government, and industry to create a business climate that supports sustainable growth.

Unlocking the nexus: exploring the mediating and moderating dynamics of risk factors in economic literacy for organizational performance - A systematic review

PurposeRecognizing economic literacy as a vital form of intellectual capital provides essential tools to mitigate the adverse impact of risk factors on business organizations' performance. This recognition serves as a strong rationale for prioritizing economic literacy as a strategic asset in navigating the complexities of risk factors for sustained organizational performance. To bridge this gap, this study examines the role of risk factors in the economic literacy of an organization and how they affect organizational performance.Design/methodology/approachThis exploratory study employed a qualitative research method, utilizing a systematic review with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach to identify gaps. A comprehensive search across databases was conducted using keywords related to risks, economic literacy and organizational performance. In total, 32 articles were meticulously analyzed, focusing on methodology, results and discussion sections to address research questions.FindingsThis study highlights the impact of risk factors on economic literacy and organizational performance, focusing on risk-taking, attitude, enterprise risk management (ERM), financial literacy and organizational performance. It reveals that possessing economic literacy can mitigate financial risks in corporations by helping entrepreneurs identify business opportunities and pitfalls, enabling informed and prudent financial decision-making. Conflicting findings challenge existing knowledge on the link between risk factors and financial literacy, particularly in new product development decisions, highlighting the need for further investigation into environmental factors shaping this connection.Originality/valueThe study developed a conceptual model that explains the interaction among economic literacy, risk factor and organization performance, which has implications for the development of the required intellectual capital to mitigate the impact of risk factors. Also, the study identified diverse conceptual, methodological and geographical gaps that will provide direction for future studies. Future research could delve into firm-level or cross-country data via surveys, interviews or focus groups, enriching the research's robustness and depth for nuanced insights into the investigated relationships.

Exploring Sustainable VR Use Cases for Startup Business Models: A Customized Customer Development Approach

Startups often face uncertainty and the potential Valley of Death. To address these challenges, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can serve as a starting point to identify business opportunities in markets driven by SDG-related issues. In this case, we propose using virtual reality (VR) technology as a “painkiller”. This study aims to explore VR use cases and their implications for startup business models and discover a problem–solution fit, i.e., identify the degree to which VR applications effectively address actual problems as “killer applications”. The study employs a customized customer discovery technique, an essential process in the Customer Development methodology. By exploring VR’s applicability in various domains such as entertainment, training, education, and tourism, this study unveils compelling use cases that align with SDG aspects, thus validating the hypothesis on startups’ potential to harness VR for SDG contributions. Furthermore, the study produces VR business model designs based on solutions to SDG-related problems. Thus, startups can function effectively as “painkillers”, offering solutions that are not only desired but urgently needed (problem–solution fit). The implications of these findings extend globally, underlining VR’s role in addressing SDG issues and offering practical insights for startup business model development that are applicable to broader technology adoptions.

Host versus home country influence on the immigrant entrepreneurial process: an imprinting perspective

Since its first use in organisational research, nearly five decades ago, imprinting has gained recognition in entrepreneurship studies. Accordingly, this study utilises the behavioural concept to develop new theorisations to account for the entrepreneurial processes of immigrant entrepreneurs. It pays attention on its effects on immigrant entrepreneurs, particularly when it comes to their decision–making and behaviours towards business creation in Canada. A comprehensive analysis of a dataset generated from a systematically selected group of immigrant entrepreneurs revealed the complexity of their imprints at various stages of their entrepreneurial cycle in the North American country. It emerged that imprinting not only modified their behaviours, attitudes and cognition, but also shaped the trajectory of their entrepreneurial processes. That is, their imprints had an effect on how they identified business opportunities, the types of businesses they pursued, their level of entrepreneurial drive, and the types of resources they acquired or accessed in their new environment. Notably, following a period of normalisation in their new surroundings, their original imprints changed due to diminishing affinity with their country-of-origin. This holds research and policy implications as it uncovers an unfolding but less-understood entrepreneurship phenomenon.

The Incupportive Model for Technological Spin-Offs: Insights From Three Research Centers in France

This article examines the relationships between research centers and related spin-offs. We identify a new incupportive model based on 41 interviews of 19 spin-offs from three research centers in Grenoble, France. This model complements the incubator and supportive model in the established literature, fostering knowledge transfer from research institutions (research centers) to business firms (spin-offs) for innovation. It also helps spin-offs identify business opportunities, manage resources, and develop alliances and complementary activities. However, this new model generates potentially unfavorable outcomes, becoming counterproductive and hindering spin-off firms’ knowledge transfer. Our findings regarding the incupportive model's positive and negative side effects enrich the spin-off literature and provide valuable practical implications for policymakers and entrepreneurs.

Assessing the Level of Educational Domain Development among Entrepreneurship Students: Inputs for Enhancing the Entrepreneurship Program Teaching Technique

Over the past years, higher education institutions have been impelled to create courses and environments in the field of entrepreneurship education as this programs contribute to economic growth in terms of job creation, business survival, and technological change. Entrepreneurial education and training equipped students with the capability to identify business opportunities in the society, build self-confidence, knowledge and skills to act on them. With this, teachers were continuously being challenged to design effective teaching strategies and techniques and plan meaningful activities for the students. This descriptive research aims to investigate the 3rd and 4th year students in a state university enrolled in the Entrepreneurship their assessment on the teaching techniques delivered by teachers teaching in the program and the domains that contribute to entrepreneurship attitude. The students assess the effectiveness of the eleven teaching techniques utilized by the teachers and the four domains of entrepreneurship attitudes. Findings shows that students’ assessment sees students-centred teaching techniques as more effective than teacher-centred teaching techniques. Business incubation, product development and visiting entrepreneurs are the top three teaching techniques that they perceived as effective while lectures, reporting and case analysis ranked the lowest among students assessment. Though the teacher-centred techniques ranks lowest among students, these are the teaching techniques that develop both the behavioral and cognitive attitude of students in entrepreneurship. Products conceptualize in the business incubation and used in the business plan concept, are student-centred teaching techniques which develop both the affective and skill-based educational domain of entrepreneurship.

Implementation of 5G Telecommunication Network Services in Indonesia based on Techno-economic Analysis

The 2300 MHz spectrum is a medium band that telco operators will not pay much attention to when they deploy 5G. They are more comfortable at 2.6 GHz, 3.5 GHz, 26 GHz, and 28 GHz, in addition to 700 MHz for the breadth of coverage. The performance of cellular telecommunications services based on 5G technology is possible for new operators, although it will be carried out as stand-alone services. This opportunity will be taken by looking at internet subscriber data/data communication from existing operators as active internet users, which is quite large and has a potential of over 250 million users. There has been no previous study regarding the feasibility of deploying this 5G technology-based Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) Network. Based on the experience of implementing previous generations of telecommunication service technology, the government and operators need to be careful in determining the right moment to deploy this 5G technology service, which is predicted to be able to provide broadband services with streaming capabilities of 10 to 100 times the streaming speed of 4G technology. It should be noted that the lack of success of 3G performances in 2006 from 2G, 2.5G, and 2.75 G. Almost all operators who were expected to be very lucky turned out to be not optimal; even now, only 4 operators are playing on 3G. where they have not been able to force users of the 2G generation to switch to 3G, including in big cities where the performance of the 3G network is not yet optimal and evenly distributed. Still, many areas are blank spots from 3G networks and services. From this experience, scientific studies are needed to ensure the feasibility of the upcoming 5G BWA business and identify business opportunities that can be implemented. The feasibility analysis must be viewed from various aspects, namely aspects of technical readiness, market aspects, and financial aspects in terms of the techno-economics of the operators who will provide 5G telecommunications services by calculating several essential parameters as a measure of business feasibility, namely Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period (PBP).

An Analytical Study on Managerial Competencies and Business Performance of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs): A Value Chain Perspective from India

Farmer producer organizations (FPOs) act as an effective institutional mechanism in addressing the constraints of small holders in India. But only a very few FPOs are prospering in their life stages, demanding a need for competent managerial team to understand the business dynamics and improve the organization performance. Hence, the present study attempted to understand the relation between business competencies and financial performance of FPOs operating in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India mediated through business approach. A proportionate representative sample of 4 FPOs and 11 FPOs registered under cooperatives act and companies act, respectively, were selected randomly. Primary data from 50 % of managerial team of FPOs ( n = 94) and secondary data from audited financial reports from 2019–2020 to 2021–2022 were obtained. The major findings of the study showed that business competencies and financial performance of market-centric approached FPOs are significantly higher over production-centric FPOs. A strong and significant correlation existed between competencies and performances. Variables namely education, business exposure, leadership role in community-based organizations and digital media exposure showed moderate correlation with various competency spheres. Due to relatively higher level of these factors in the respondents of market-centric approached FPOs over their counterparts, they possessed comparatively higher business competencies and as such identified business opportunities on the upstream value chain (market-centric) and accordingly showed better financial performance over the FPOs that identified opportunities on the downstream value chain (production-centric). Thus, a strong relationship existed between business approach, business competencies and financial performance.

Effect of Entrepreneurial Skills on the Performance of Women-Owned Enterprises in Makurdi Metropolis, Benue State

Women entrepreneurs play a fundamental role to the development of economies across the nations. The success of women-owned enterprises depends on the possession of different entrepreneurial skills. The research is carried out to investigate the effect of entrepreneurial skills on the performance of women-owned enterprises in Makurdi Metropolis. The study employed a survey research method and a questionnaire was distributed to 127 owner-managers of businesses owned by women in Makurdi Metropolis. Data retrieved from the participants were analysed and presented in tables. Regression was used as the technique of data analysis and test of hypotheses using SPSS version 23. The outcomes of the study revealed that accounting skills, marketing skills and human relations skills have a significant and positive effect on the performance of women-owned businesses. The study concludes that entrepreneurial skills are vital for business performance. It recommended amongst others that owners and managers of small scale businesses should improve their accounting skills for proper record keeping and marketing skills in identifying business opportunities.

Proactiveness and Organizational Resilience among Small Scale Business in Lagos State

The focus of this study was to examine the impact of proactiveness on organizational resilience among Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) operating in Lagos State, Nigeria. One of the major drivers of economic growth in any nation is the small and medium scale enterprise sector. Proactiveness is an element of entrepreneurial orientation which enables a business organization to easily identify business opportunities in the market place thereby keeping them ahead of competition for relevance in the market. This study adopts a descriptive research design using a sample size of 500 business owners from various SME sectors a self-structured questionnaire was used as the research instrument. The finding of this study shows that there is a positive correlation between business organization proactiveness and organizational resilience. This implies that proactiveness positively influence organizational resilience among small and medium scale enterprises in Lagos state. The study therefore recommends that business owners especially the start-up show always respond raptly to issues that will make them stay relevant in the market place. This include introducing innovative ideas to their business on regular basis.

EXPLORING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION OF GENERATION Y PEOPLE IN THAILAND

The main purpose of this study is to analyse the factors affecting and exploring entrepreneurial intention of generation Y people in Thailand with particular attention to demographics, personal planned behaviours, and contextual factors, those factors will be the key tools that may encourage entrepreneurship. This study based on interview the person who born in 1980 to 1997 called generation Yers. The results showed they have a high expectation of being a self-employee rather that working in a well-known organisation and be able to understand the idea how these young entrepreneurs identify business opportunities and overcome challenges through self-attitudes toward unforeseen failure in business. Yers believe that they are the huge wave of movement to challenge and develop a globalisation throughout creativity and innovation. This study also shown the result of relationship among demographics, personal planned behaviours, and other contextual details that are the main key tools were the determinants of Thai entrepreneurial intention.

In recent years, electronic commerce or e-commerce has experienced significant growth worldwide. Retail companies utilize e-commerce platforms to sell their products to customers in various countries. In this context, a good understanding of sales data and trends in the global market becomes crucial for optimizing marketing strategies and improving sales performance. Data visualization plays a vital role in transforming complex sales data into easily understandable graphs, charts, and tables. Tableau, as a popular data visualization tool, aids retail companies in creating appealing and informative dashboards, understanding global sales trends, identifying business opportunities, and making evidence-based decisions. In this research, descriptive analysis is used to provide a concise and detailed overview of sales data in the global retail industry. The visualization results using Tableau reveal that New Zealand is the country with the highest sales, the year 2014 had the highest sales, and personal care products are the most purchased items by consumers. This research provides valuable insights for retail companies to optimize their marketing strategies and make better-informed decisions based on a deeper understanding of their sales data.

Virtual small business entrepreneurship opportunities

For small business entrepreneurs in rural areas to survive in the digital contexts, research is essential on the challenges they face and how these challenges can become opportunities for other entrepreneurs. In this study, small business entrepreneurship opportunities at a township in the Eastern Cape were explored. The basis of the study was that entrepreneurship opportunities are embedded in business challenges and entrepreneurs who can provide services or products that address identified challenges can have viable entrepreneurship ventures. The study used two-phased sequential interviews to collect data to address the purpose of the study, which was: to explore the small business entrepreneurship opportunities in the Eastern Cape in the context of digitalisation. In the first interview challenges, faced by 60 entrepreneurs at an identified small business Mall, were recorded, and the most common challenges were noted. After noting the most common challenges and suggestions for possible business opportunities, associated with addressing the challenges, interviews with eight entrepreneurs in the Mall were then undertaken to gather more information. The study found evidence that small business entrepreneurship opportunities existed in areas related to providing essential support services, such as small business education and training, infopreneurship, and digital infrastructure retailing including providing alternative power options, such as solar power for the enterprises. With the high unemployment and high rate of small business failure, the study recommends the effective exploitation of the identified business opportunities to ensure that existing enterprises survive and new ventures also arise.

The Action-Oriented Approach to the Teaching-Learning of English in Côte D’Ivoire: Contribution to the Development of Learners’ Entrepreneurial Culture

This paper theoretically analyses the contribution of Action-oriented Approach to teaching and learning English regarding learners’ appropriation of entrepreneurial culture. The aim is to finally suggest the adoption of that approach in the teaching and learning of English in Côte d’Ivoire given the country’s strong desire to promote entrepreneurial culture. The paper seeks to answer the following questions: What are the principles of the Action-oriented approach? How does this approach set field for the appropriation of entrepreneurial culture? The analysis starts with the review of actions taken by Ivorian authorities to promote entrepreneurial culture since its independence. It then focuses on the characteristic features of entrepreneurial culture, and the principles of Action-oriented Approach before moving to the implication of Action-oriented Approach in the appropriation of entrepreneurial competence. The conclusions revealed three core entrepreneurial skills that could be appropriated by English language learners following an Action-oriented Approach. First, adopting an Action-oriented Approach to English language teaching-learning ensures the development of risk-taking and decision-making skills by the learner. Second, the Action-oriented Approach to English language teaching and learning facilitates the development of learners’ capacity to innovate. Third and final, teaching English from an action-oriented perspective helps develop learners’ ability to identify business opportunities and make use of them to manufacture a concrete product.

Is critical thinking a future skill for business success: science mapping and literature review

PurposeThis article aims to review critical thinking (CT) as a future skill in business.Design/methodology/approachThe study employed two research methods: science mapping analysis based on bibliometric keyword co-occurrence data and systematic literature review following PRISMA guidelines. The application of two distinctive research methods meant that we could obtain a broad picture thematic overview as well as a detailed, fine-grained insight into the content of CT business research.FindingsResearch in CT in business studies is dominated by themes related to education, university and learning that far outweigh CT business application, which focuses on three research axes. These are specific business functions (e.g. accounting, marketing, human resources and identifying business opportunities), certain skills used in business (e.g. decision-making and creativity) and other business-related topics (including ethics, stakeholder relations and individual employee performance).Practical implicationsThe article identifies new research gaps related to the link between CT and business performance, a firm’s ability to innovate and company characteristics. Moreover, the article highlights that CT positively influences business decision-making under the influence of cognitive biases and heuristics.Originality/valueThe article provides the first literature review on CT in business research. It uses a novel method of science mapping analysis to show unbiased algorithmic-based insight into the structure of the research, followed by a systematic literature review.

Penerapan Strategi Pengembangan Bisnis Usaha Ternak Ayam Dalam Perspektif Teoritis

A business development strategy is a priority plan to achieve these goals or a business venture. One of the businesses in the livestock sector that has the potential to generate large profits is the chicken farming business. The purpose of this theoretical review is to find out how the chicken farming business development strategy is. The method used is a theoretical review by analyzing and comparing existing theories. The results of this theoretical review are that in implementing a business business development strategy, product development, market development, concentrated development and innovation development are needed. It can be concluded that the livestock business development strategy is a group of policies, plans, objectives and business activities or companies that aim to identify business opportunities and maintain business continuity so as to achieve the targets desired by business actors. Business development in the livestock sector is also one of the efforts made by business owners to increase their business profitability or business ability to generate more profits. For business actors in the livestock sector, they must always develop a business that covers the scope of the entire business in order to be able to create business synergies in order to realize successful long-term business development.
