A micro-macro mechanism of hydraulic fracturing with initial stress state effect of brittle rock

The external initial stress state seriously affects the hydraulic fracturing process of rocks. However, the external initial stress effect on the mechanical relationship between the hydraulic pressure and the internal microcrack extension in brittle rocks is rarely studied. This paper proposes a micro-macro mechanical model for predicting the hydraulic fracturing process of brittle rock under compressive stress. Based on the correlation of the stress intensity factor at the tip of the extended micro-cracks, the hydraulic pressure, and the force characteristics of the cracks inside the brittle rock, the evolution law of the hydraulic pressure with the wing crack length is determined. The effects of confining pressure, axial pressure, stress difference, initial crack angle, initial crack length, initial crack density and rock fracture toughness on the hydraulic initiation stress and peak stress are discussed. The rationality of hydraulic fracturing models is verified by experimental comparison. With the increase of axial pressure, stress difference, fracture toughness, initial crack length and initial crack density, the hydraulic initiation and peak stress of rock decrease, and with the increase of confining pressure and fracture toughness, the hydraulic initiation stress and peak stress of rock increase. The study results optimize the parameters such as pre-crack angle, pre-crack length, and external loading conditions based on rock characteristics. It helps to grasp the progress of hydraulic fracturing according to the nature of rock and the degree of hydraulic pressure change, improve the efficiency of hydraulic fracturing, and enhance economic benefits.

A hydrate reservoir renovation device and its application in nitrogen bubble fracturing

Abstract. Natural gas hydrate (GH) is a significant potential energy source due to its large reserves, wide distribution, high energy density, and low pollution. However, the gas production rate of past gas hydrate production tests is much lower than the requirement of commercial gas production. Reservoir stimulation technologies like hydraulic fractures provide one potential approach to enhance gas production from GH. The reservoir reformation behavior of the hydrate-bearing sediments (HBSs), particularly sediments with a high clay content, is a complex process during a hydraulic fracturing operation which has been poorly understood and thus hardly predictable. This paper presents an experimental facility that was developed to analyze the hydraulic fracture mechanism in synthesized HBSs. This facility can be used to form GH in sediments, conduct visual observation of hydraulic fracturing experiments, and measure the permeability of HBSs under high-pressure (up to 30 MPa) and low-temperature conditions (from 253.15 to 323.15 K). It is mainly composed of a pressure control and injection unit, a low temperature and cooling unit, a cavitation unit, a visual sapphire reactor, and a data acquisition and measurement unit. The hydraulic fracture module consists of a gas cylinder, fracturing pump, hopper, proppant warehouse, and valves. The sapphire reservoir chamber is applied to observe and measure the fracture of HBSs during hydraulic fracturing. The permeability test module is composed of a constant-flux pump and pressure sensors, which can evaluate the permeability performance before and after the hydraulic fracture in HBSs. The fundamental principles of this apparatus are discussed. Some tests were performed to verify hydraulic fracture tests, and permeability tests could be practically applied in the HBS exploitation.

Investigation on failure behavior and hydraulic fracturing mechanism of Longmaxi shale with different bedding properties

Research on the failure behavior and hydraulic fracturing mechanism of Longmaxi shale is vital for deep shale gas exploitation. The anisotropic properties of shale, especially bedding properties, significantly affect its cracking behavior. In this study, by embedding the smooth joint model (SJM) into the parallel bond model (PBM) in two-dimensional particle flow code (PFC2D), uniaxial compression and fluid–solid coupling hydraulic fracturing models with different bedding properties were quantitatively established, and the effects of bedding properties on the failure behavior and hydraulic fracturing mechanism of Longmaxi shale were investigated. The results demonstrated that bedding properties significantly affect the failure pattern, strength response and hydraulic fracture propagation of shale. Shale failure is controlled by bedding inclination, bedding strength, and maximum principal stress, which mainly depends on their competition mechanism. In addition, it is found that the secondary induced fractures associated with primary through-bedding fractures tend to have larger fracture networks compared with those associated with primary along-bedding fractures.

Experimental Studies on the Crack Initiation and Propagation of Hydraulic Fracturing with Different Coal Structure Combinations.

Coal structure is one of the key geological factors that affects the effect of coal reservoir stimulation. Based on the geological spatial combination characteristics, thickness, and proportion of different coal structures, the coal reservoir is divided into different coal structure combination types. The hydraulic fracturing device is used to carry out indoor fracturing experiments and dissect the crack initiation and expansion characteristics with different coal structure combinations. The results show that the coal structure combination is of the binary type (undeformed coal + granulated coal or cataclastic coal + granulated coal), and the undeformed coal (cataclastic coal) can overcome the tensile strength and minimum principal stress when it is driven by the high-pressure fluid. The undeformed coal (cataclastic coal) ruptures and forms longitudinal cracks. The increasing proportion of granulated coal inhibits crack expansion and promotes the transverse deformation of coal. The interface contact point between the undeformed coal (cataclastic coal) and granulated coal easily fractures along the cross section of the specimen. When the coal structure combination is the triplex type (undeformed coal + granulated coal + cataclastic coal or cataclastic coal + granulated coal + cataclastic coal), the undeformed coal or cataclastic coal is transformed. The forming fractures in the undeformed coal (cataclastic coal) can cut through the soft coal when the thickness of the undeformed coal (cataclastic coal) is large and the thickness of granulated coal is thin. On the contrary, it is not easy to cut through. When the coal structure combination is granulated coal + cataclastic coal + granulated coal, the cataclastic coal fails under shear stress and forms the crack along the cross section of the coal sample. The granulated coal inhibits the crack expansion at both ends. The research results have an important indicative significance for further understanding the fracture initiation and propagation mechanism of hydraulic fracturing with complex coal structures in coal reservoirs.

DEM-based study of hydraulic fracturing mechanism under high internal water pressure

To solve the problem of fracturing due to high water pressure when pumping in the diversion tunnel, the mechanism of hydraulic fracturing (HF) in the tunnel under high internal water pressure is studied. A numerical model of HF considering water-rock interaction is established using the PFC2D discrete element simulation software. The HF mechanism of surrounding rock under high internal water pressure is studied, and the development process of hydraulic cracks is obtained. The influence of surrounding rock parameters on fracturing is analyzed and the law between principal stress and crack development is investigated. The high-pressure water injection test under different tunnel diameters is also carried out. Numerical test research shows that under the action of high internal water pressure, the surrounding rock at the cavity wall splits first, and the water entering the crack generates water pressure on the crack sidewall, which in turn generates tensile stress at the crack tip and further causes the crack expansion. The crack length is exponentially related to the internal water pressure. The high internal water pressure decays gradually with the crack extension distance and stabilizes when the crack extension reaches a certain length because the water pressure is less than the tensile strength of the surrounding rock. The fracturing results indicate that the process of HF damage is tensile types, and the increase of cohesion plays a suppressive role in crack opening, while the internal friction angle has little effect on the HF effect. The influence of principal stress on the HF result shows that the direction of HF is along the direction of major principal stress. The major principal stress promotes the cracking, while the minor principal stress inhibits the crack growth. By simulating the water injection test for different hole diameters of the diversion tunnel, it is found that the fracturing distance of the surrounding rock increases approximately linearly with the increase of the hole diameter. The test results can provide a basis for the design and construction of high-pressure tunnels such as pumped storage power plants.

Research Status and Prospect of Hydraulic Fracturing Technology in Coal Mine

Hydraulic fracturing is one of the most effective methods to improve the permeability of coal seams at present. In order to promote the development of hydraulic fracturing technology in coal mines, the current development of hydraulic fracturing technology in coal mines is summarized from three aspects of hydraulic fracturing influencing factors, hydraulic fracturing methods and processes, and hydraulic fracturing effect evaluation. It is believed that the mechanism of hydraulic fracturing influencing factors, intelligent fracturing equipment, and systematic fracturing effect evaluation methods need further in-depth study.

A DEM–CFD coupling method for modelling two-hole synchronous hydraulic fracturing

This work introduced a novel numerical approach for modelling hydraulic fracturing processes. The Edinburgh bonded particle model was employed to establish the discrete element model of the rock samples, and it was further coupled with computational fluid dynamics to simulate the hydraulic fracturing. The fracture propagation law was taken into account under various principal stress differences to confirm the viability of the model. In addition, the model was used to investigate the fracture propagation mechanism of two-hole synchronous hydraulic fracturing. The results indicate that the arrangement and spacing of two holes will affect the complexity of hydraulic fractures. The principal stress difference becomes more prominent in the direction of hydraulic fracture propagation with the increase in the principal stress difference.

An improved multiphase SPH algorithm with kernel gradient correction for modelling fuel–coolant interaction

Fuel–coolant interaction (FCI) has a pivotal role in the development of core disruptive accident in a sodium-cooled fast reactor. The drastic deformation of multiphase interface in the FCI is hard to deal with in the traditional grid method. In this paper, an improved multiphase smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) algorithm corrected with the kernel gradient correction (KGC) technique is presented for multiphase flow with a large density ratio and complex interfacial behaviors. The density discontinuity across the multiphase interface is described with the use of special volume, which only depends on the position information of adjacent particles. This multiphase SPH algorithm, which is troubled by an unstable and mixed-interface problem under a large density ratio, is significantly improved with the KGC technique. The accuracy and robustness of the improved method are demonstrated in the numerical simulations of the deformation of a square droplet, Rayleigh–Taylor instability, and bubble rising in water. The verified corrected multiphase SPH is applied to simulate the hydrodynamic behaviors of the general FCI and the interaction between fuels coated with stainless steel film and coolant. Boundary layer stripping, Rayleigh–Taylor instability, and Kelvin–Helmholtz instability are observed as important mechanisms of hydraulic fracturing. The fragments’ distribution and the influence of stainless steel film are analyzed. The existence of a stainless steel film has been shown to inhibit breakage.

Fracturing criterion of rock hydrofracturing considering pore pressure effect

Traditional hydraulic fracturing theory believes that as the initial pore pressure increases, the breakdown pressure of the rock will decrease. Previous experimental studies have shown that the breakdown pressure of rock hydraulic fracturing may increase with the increase of initial pore pressure (gradient), which cannot be explained by traditional theory. The current understanding of the effect of pore pressure and its gradient during hydraulic fracturing is still unclear. In this study, the pore pressure effect of rock hydraulic fracturing is analyzed based on a large number of macroscopic and microscopic phenomena of rock hydraulic fracturing in the previous study. Then, a new fracture criterion of rock fracturing is built considering the pressure-gradient effect. This new fracture criterion can reflect the main influence factors, including the rock particle size, porosity, pumping flow, inner diameter of open hole section, length of main fracture, height of main fracture (or length of open hole section), fluid viscosity, pore pressure, minimum initial in situ stress and rock tensile strength. The new fracture criterion is examined by the rock fracturing experiment which considering the pressure-gradient effect. The results show that the proposed fracture criterion considering the pore pressure effect can well predict the breakdown pressure of rock, and the prediction trend is consistent with the experimental results. The average error is less than 1% when adopting the present fracture criterion. The parameter sensitivity of the fracture criterion is analyzed. Results show that the fracture pressure increases with the rock porosity and this trend becomes more apparent with a larger initial pore pressure. It shows that the fracture pressure increases with the pumped flow rate. Besides, it shows that the fracture pressure decreases when increasing the particle size of the rock, but the decreasing trend gradually slows down. The research results can provide a theoretical basis for the mechanism of rock hydraulic fracturing and the structural modification effect of fluids in rock engineering.

Numerical Simulation and Sensitivity Analysis of Hydraulic Fracturing in Multilayered Thin Tight Sandstone Gas Reservoir

Hydraulic fracturing is a necessary measurement to realize the commercial exploitation of oil and gas, but its application in multilayered thin tight sandstone gas reservoirs is still not perfect, which usually have thin gas layers mixed with complex intervals, and shows a dramatic variation in geological and geomechanical properties in the vertical direction. When conventional hydraulic fracturing methods are applied to this kind of reservoir, it is hard to get proper fracture propagation, especially for fracture height control. Facing this situation, this paper proposes a numerical study of the hydraulic fracturing mechanism and analyzes its influencing factors in the multilayered thin tight sandstone gas reservoir. Relying on a real reservoir in the Ordos Basin in China, relevant geological and geomechanical parameters of major gas layers and interlayers are obtained. According to these parameters, the hydraulic fracturing simulation in the multilayered thin tight gas reservoir model is carried out, based on which, the sensitivity analysis of different geological and fracturing parameters which affect the fracture propagation is performed. Furthermore, a real low-production well after fracturing in this kind of reservoir is selected as an example, and based on the analysis, an optimized fracturing scheme is proposed to adapt to the characteristics of the reservoir. According to the comparison of fracturing and production simulations, the optimized fracturing scheme can prevent hydraulic fractures from breaking through thin interlayers, control the fracture height, and prevent fractures from communicating strata with a high water-bearing layer. At the same time, with the same amount of proppant and fracturing fluid, longer fracture length and better fracture conductivity are created, so that the productivity of the optimized fracture has been greatly improved.

Mechanism and Application of Hydraulic Fracturing in the High-Level Thick and Hard Gangue Layer to Improve Top Coal Caving in Fully Mechanized Caving Mining of an Ultra-Thick Coal Seam

The thick and hard gangue layer has long been one of the key obstacles affecting the coal recovery rate in the fully mechanized top-coal caving mining of ultra-thick coal seams, and it is also one key factor restricting the development of the technology used for such work. In this study, to improve the poor top coal cavability and low recovery rate in fully mechanized caving mining of ultra-thick coal seams containing thick and hard gangue layers, the fully mechanized caving mining of longwall working face 42,108 of the Qinggangping Coal Mine is the engineering setting. Then, through a combination of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and field practice, a mechanical model of the cantilever beam with uniform load for fracture of the gangue layer is developed. Next, the mechanical action mechanism and influence of the gangue layer and thickness on the fracture of the cantilever beam are analyzed, and a method of pre-fracturing and weakening high-level thick and hard gangue layers using hydraulic fracturing technology is proposed. Finally, using RFPA2D-flow numerical simulation, the key technical parameters of hydraulic fracturing in the working face are designed and applied to field practice. The results show the following: After the high-level thick and hard gangue layer is treated by hydraulic fracturing technology, the amount of fractured gangue behind the support increases, while that of big coal blocks decreases significantly, and the overall fragmentation of top coal is at a reasonable level. In addition, after taking hydraulic fracturing technical measures during the mining period of the working face, the average recovery rate of the working face is 86.6%. This is an increase of 6.5% over the previous area without hydraulic fracturing.

Hydraulic fracturing with low and high viscous injection mediums to investigate net fracture pressure and fracture network in shale of different brittleness index

The stimulation of shale reservoirs by hydraulic fracturing is required to recover trapped hydrocarbons. For effective stimulation, it is essential to study the mechanism of hydraulic fracturing in terms of fracture initiation and propagation in shale reservoirs. In this study, hydraulic fracturing experiments are carried out on three shale formations (Eagle Ford, Marcellus, and Mancos) to investigate the fracture initiation pressure and resultant fracture networks in different rock fabrics. Several parameters were evaluated in this respect, including rock heterogeneities in lamination and mineralogy, rock brittleness, the type of fracturing fluids, and various confinement conditions. The results show that rock heterogeneities profoundly affect the resultant fracture network in shale. Furthermore, the aperture, permeability, and complexity of the fracture network mainly depend on the structure and thickness of the laminate sets and the direction of the lateral well-bore concerning these discontinuities. The fracturing fluid substantially impacts the fracture initiation pressure and resultant fracture network in shale. Under constant fluid injection rates and confining conditions, the fracture initiation pressure with water resulted in higher net fracture pressure than higher viscous fluid (oil). However, the aperture and length of the fracture are significantly more significant in the latter case. The net pressure required to initiate fracture propagation is inversely related to the rock’s confinement pressure and brittleness index. A sharp decrease in net breakdown pressure is observed with both parameters. During hydraulic fracturing with water and oil, a consistent rise in the injection pressure is recorded. In contrast, sudden fluctuations are recorded with supercritical carbon dioxide (SC CO2) and SC CO2 foam injection. SC CO2 foam fracturing increased fracture initiation pressure compared to water and oil as injection mediums. An appreciable difference in fracture initiation pressure with SC CO2, SC CO2 foam, and water are 5023 psi, 6456 psi, and 4000 psi, respectively, at high conferment pressure (3500 psi). A comparison of Eagle Ford and Mancos shale hydraulic fracturing with different injection mediums shows that water produced complex fractures but unstable fractures in a Mancos shale due to water imbibition near fracture surfaces. In contrast, SC CO2 foam has produced open, complex, and stable fracture networks. Such open and stable fractures are mainly needed, so that embedment is avoided after achieving the required fracture network to maintain optimum fracture conductivity for the high production of hydrocarbons.

Residual Damage, Its Consequences, and Remedial Measures on Post Hydrofrac Well Productivity: Learnt Lessons

Hydraulic fracturing or hydro-frac fluids can impede well production due to the damage caused to the reservoir formation and fracture face, generated from adverse interactions with reservoir rock. Understanding the mechanisms of hydraulic fracturing, optimum treatment designs, and pumping/pressure profiles is critical for hydro-frac success. However, to realize the full potential of fracturing and the mitigation strategies for reservoir and fracture conductivity damage during and after its occurrence, fracturing must be considered during the design phase itself. This article provides a brief overview of hydro-frac techniques, including design, optimization, modeling, commonly used proppants, and fracturing fluid benefits and consequences based on critically reviewed case studies. However, the primary focus of this article is on the potential of fracture conductivity damage and the intrinsic mechanisms in hydraulic fracturing. The article presents updated information on various damage mitigation processes established through laboratory investigation and field implementation. The authors expect that the provided workflow in this article will be helpful to researchers and stimulate engineers to a great extent.

Model tests and numerical simulations on hydraulic fracturing and failure mechanism of rock landslides

Hydraulic fracturing (HF) is an important reason for inducing rock landslides. The impacts of the angle between the transverse pressure stress and the initial fracture, the transverse pressure stress, the length and aperture of the initial fracture on the critical water pressure stress of HF were analyzed based on the model tests of cement mortar specimens. The HF numerical simulations were carried out and the fracture aperture, pore pressure, strain and stiffness degradation index were analyzed, and the HF mechanism of rock was revealed. Taking a rock slope along G205 in China as an example, the landslide stability under high groundwater pressure was studied by numerical simulations, and the whole processes of the expansion, propagation, penetration and the rock slope failure were reproduced. The results showed that when HF occurred on the cement mortar specimens, a large amount of water seeped from the fracture and made a dull sound of failure, the water pressure on the fracture plane decreased rapidly, but not completely penetrated, and there was still a certain residual strength of the specimen. The HF of rock is a quasi-brittle failure, including static stage, micro fracture propagation stage and macro fracture formation stage. There are 3 dangerous rocks on the rock slope, among which WYT3 is in a stable state under the natural condition and in an unstable state under the rainstorm condition and seismic condition. The fracture propagation of WYT3 under the action of high groundwater pressure experienced slow development stage, rapid development stage and penetration stage, among which the slow development stage lasted the longest, and the slope failure occurred immediately after the fracture penetrated.

Fracture Characteristics and Distribution in Slant Core from Conglomerate Hydraulic Fracturing Test Site (CHFTS) in Junggar Basin, Northwest China

Hydraulic fracture networks, especially fracture geometry, height growth, and proppant transport within the networks, present a critical influence on productivity evaluation and optimization of fracturing parameters. However, information about hydraulic fracture networks in post-fractured formations is seldom available. In this study, the characteristics (density and orientation) of hydraulic fractures were obtained from field observations of cores taken from conglomerate hydraulic fracturing test site (CHFTS). A large number of fractures were observed in the cores, and systematic fracture description was carried out. The fracture analysis data obtained includes fracture density, fracture depth, fracture orientation, morphology, fracture surface features, apertures, fill, fracture mechanical origin (type), etc. Our results show that 228 hydraulic fractures were intersected in a span of 293.71 m of slant core and composed of irregularly spaced single fractures and fracture swarms. One of the potential sources of the observed fracture swarms is near-wellbore tortuosity. Moreover, for regions far away from the wellbore, reservoir heterogeneity can promote complex hydraulic fracture trajectories. The hydraulic fractures were mainly cross-gravel and high-angle fractures and align with maximum horizontal stress (SHmax) ± 15°. The fracture density, orientations, and types obtained from the core fracture description provided valuable information regarding fracture growth behavior. For the near-wellbore area with a transverse distance of less than 25 m from the hydraulically-fractured wellbore, tensile fractures were dominant. While for the area far away from the wellbore, shear fractures were dominant. Our results provide improved understanding of the spatial hydraulic fracture dimensions, proppant distribution, and mechanism of hydraulic fracture formation. The dataset acquired can also be used to calibrate numerical models and characterize hydraulic fracture geometry and proppant distribution.

The mechanism of hydraulic fracturing assisted oil displacement to enhance oil recovery in low and medium permeability reservoirs

Aiming at the technology of hydraulic fracturing assisted oil displacement which combines hydraulic fracturing, seepage and oil displacement, an experimental system of energy storage and flowback in fracturing assisted oil displacement process has been developed and used to simulate the mechanism of percolation, energy storage, oil displacement and flowback of chemical agents in the whole process. The research shows that in hydraulic fracturing assisted oil displacement, the chemical agent could be directly pushed to the deeper area of the low and medium permeability reservoirs, avoiding the viscosity loss and adhesion retention of chemical agents near the pay zone; in addition, this technology could effectively enlarge the swept volume, improve the oil displacement efficiency, replenish formation energy, gather and exploit the scattered residual oil. For the reservoir with higher permeability, this measure takes effect fast, so to lower cost, and the high pressure hydraulic fracturing assisted oil displacement could be adopted directly. For the reservoir with lower permeability which is difficult to absorb water, hydraulic fracturing assisted oil displacement with surfactant should be adopted to reduce flow resistance of the reservoir and improve the water absorption capacity and development effect of the reservoir. The degree of formation energy deficit was the main factor affecting the effective swept range of chemical agents. Moreover, the larger the formation energy deficit was, the further the seepage distance of chemical agents was, accordingly, the larger the effective swept volume was, and the greater the increase of oil recovery was. Formation energy enhancement was the most important contribution to enhanced oil recovery (EOR), which was the key to EOR by the technology of hydraulic fracturing assisted oil displacement.

Fracture Propagation Modes of Lower Cambrian Shale Filled with Different Quartz Contents under Seepage-Stress Coupling

The content and spatial distribution of brittle minerals, such as quartz, are important factors in determining the fracture initiation mechanism induced by hydraulic fracturing in shale reservoirs. To further research the impact of quartz content in shales of the Lower Cambrian Niutitang Formation in northern Guizhou on the fracture expansion of its reservoir, 7 groups of randomly filling shale models with different quartz contents were established using rock failure process analysis (RFPA2D-flow) code for numerical test studies under seepage-stress coupling, and 5 samples were also subjected to uniaxial compression tests using the INSTRON 1346 electrohydraulic servo-controlled material testing machine (200T). The results show that the average growth rate of the compressive strength and the fracture proportion for a quartz content of 50% to 65% are 4.22 and 1.15 times higher than those for 35% to 50%, respectively. Fractures sprout, expand, and breakdown in the shale matrix or at the junctions of the shale matrix and quartz grains. The mechanical properties and pattern of the fracture extension of the shale in the physical tests are similar to those in the numerical tests, indicating the reliability of the numerical simulations. The fractal dimension curves at different stress levels are divided into three stages: flattening, increasing, and surging, and the fractal dimension value for a quartz content of 50%~65% at a 100% stress level is 1.02 times higher than that for 35%~50%. The high degree of natural fracture development in high quartz content formations in shale gas reservoirs is of some reference value for logging data. The research results provide a reference value for the content and spatial distribution of brittle minerals for the initiation mechanism and fracture propagation of hydraulic fracturing in shale reservoirs.

Research on Directional Controllability of Cracking in Hydraulic Fracturing of Hard Overburden Based on Local Stress Field Intervention

As a widely-used method of digging roadways in China, gob-side entry driving features specific advantages, such as a high recovery rate and good isolation effects. However, under the condition of hard overburden, the excessive bearing pressure of small coal pillars will easily cause serious internal damage in the coal and the run-through of the plastic zone, leading to harmful gas leakage in the goaf. Therefore, based on the engineering background of small coal pillars in the 18506 working face of Xiqu Coal Mine, this paper comprehensively adopts theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, industrial tests, and other methods, analyzes the evolution mechanism of isolated bearing and plastic fracture areas of small coal pillar under hard overburden, studies the influence law of hard overburden cutting parameters on the isolation and stability of small coal pillars, and puts forward the technology of actively cutting the top to weaken the stress concentration of coal pillars under hard overburden. With the reasonable cutting parameters determined, the controllable mechanism of hydraulic fracturing cutting under hard overburden further revealed, and the hydraulic fracturing cutting technology with “controllable cutting orientation of hydraulic fracturing with local stress field intervention” formed as the basic core, the stress situation on the roof is improved, realizing the stability control of the coal pillars for the roadway protection, and avoiding gas leakage and other disasters caused by small coal pillar destruction.
