UPAYA GURU DALAM MENGATASI KESULITAN MEMBACA SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR

In facing the challenges students face in reading, teachers need to be proactive in providing guidance to help them overcome obstacles that hinder the learning process. This research aims to explain the reading problems faced by students and the teachers' efforts to solve them in class II of SDN 002 Bagan Besar, Dumai City. The method applied in this research is a qualitative approach. Researchers used various data collection techniques including observation, interviews and document analysis involving research subjects consisting of class II B homeroom teachers and class II B students at SDN 002 Bagan Besar, Dumai City. The research results showed that there were class II B students who experienced difficulties in reading, such as lack of reading fluency, frequent mistakes, difficulty in distinguishing similar letters, and errors in pronouncing words or sound symbols. The efforts taken by teachers to overcome the reading difficulties of class II students at SDN 002 Bagan Besar, Dumai City, have been quite effective. Teachers use interesting and interactive learning methods, such as picture letter books, and strengthen students' self-confidence and motivation through praise. In addition, teachers do not blame students and provide special remedial programs to improve their reading skills

PERAN GURU DALAM IMPLEMENTASI KURIKULUM MERDEKA DI SEKOLAH DASAR

The Merdeka Curriculum demands a significant and comprehensive role for teachers, starting from planners, designers, managers, evaluators, researchers, decision makers, to learning administrators. The aim of this research is to describe in detail the conditions related to the role of teachers in implementing the Independent Curriculum at SDN 017 Mayang Pongkai. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with case studies. Researchers used various data collection techniques, such as observation, interviews and document analysis, involving research subjects, namely the class V homeroom teacher at SDN 017 Mayang Pongkai. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the independent curriculum has been implemented well according to its role. The role of teachers in implementing the Independent Curriculum includes teacher, educator, facilitator, guide, servant, designer, manager, innovator and assesor.

Voices of Elementary Computer Science Teachers: Computer Science Integration Rationales and Practices

Objectives . Computer Science (CS) education has become increasingly prevalent in elementary schools because of multiple rationales, such as the importance of computational literacy and the growing demand for CS-related workforce preparation. As elementary CS standards continue to be adopted by many states, more examples and voices from the field may help educators understand what effective computational thinking (CT)/CS integration looks like in practice. Method . We employed a descriptive qualitative approach to study eight award-winning K-8 CS teachers and aimed to answer three research questions: (1) What were elementary CS teachers’ rationales for CT/CS integration? (2) How do elementary CS teachers integrate CT/CS into their classroom practices? (3) What are the needs of CS teachers for meaningful CT/CS integration in elementary schools? Data were collected through interviews, a questionnaire, and artifacts and analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings . Our findings of elementary CS teachers’ rationales for CT/CS integration encompassed its essential nature as a literacy skill, its potential to promote equity in education, and its alignment with standards across various disciplines. To support CT/CS integration at the elementary level, CS teachers described important aspects with examples from their instructional practices: (a) Real-world applications; (b) hands-on activities; (c) strategies to scaffold and guide student learning; (d) collaboration with classroom teachers; and (e) support from professional development (PD). Conclusion . The study results shared CS teachers’ voices from practice and shed light on the urgent need for more support and PD opportunities for both homeroom teachers and CS teachers in elementary schools, as well as the crucial need for multiple levels of support within K-12 school systems. Continuous efforts in creating systematic and sustainable PD plans and supporting collaborative professional communities for teachers within the instructional context are a must to help prepare our elementary students with the essential CS knowledge and skills they need to thrive in this technology-rich society.

Multifaceted perception of school climate: association between students’ and teachers’ perceptions and other teacher factors

IntroductionThis study aimed to investigate whether there is a significant association between teachers’ and students’ perceptions of school climate, and if not, whether teacher factors are associated with the respective perceptions.MethodsThe participants included 1,831 students and 59 homeroom teachers from 11 public elementary and junior high schools in Japan. Multilevel models were used to examine the association between students’ and teachers’ perceptions of school climate.ResultsOf the three teacher-rated school climate scales, only teacher-perceived disciplinary climate was associated with students’ perceptions of school climate. Teachers’ working conditions, such as self-efficacy and stress, were associated with teachers’ perceptions but not students’ perceptions of school climate. Disciplinary climate was associated with students’ perceptions of school climate, even after accounting for the teachers’ working conditions.DiscussionItems questioning specific student behaviors, such as those included in the disciplinary climate scale, may be effective in avoiding incongruence with student evaluations. Moreover, maintaining disciplinary climate itself is important for students’ positive perceptions of the school climate. A disciplinary climate in which teachers and students share responsibility for learning and classroom organization, and strategies that support positive student behavior are preferable to exclusionary discipline strategies. Incorporating feedback data gathered through classroom observations or student perceptions is also important in resolving the incongruence between teachers’ and students’ perceptions of the school climate.

Religious ideologies of minimal computing: negotiating digital technology in religious nationalist education

ABSTRACT Using resistance to digital technologies in religious nationalist public high schools in Israel as a frame for discussing minimal computing, this paper explores how socio-religious ideologies foster minimal technological practices. Based on interviews with administrators, homeroom teachers, and religious and secular content teachers from three schools near an urban center, the study explores how multiple mandates to provide religious, nationalist, and modern education shape teachers’ educational approaches to digital technologies. The paper argues that an approach that segregates technologies to secular domains disentangles digital devices from religious subjectivity; one that allocates time for ‘profane’ digital technologies creates discontinuity between digital practices and religious educational aims; and one that integrates technologies into religious practice fosters a symbiotic digital–analog religiosity. By highlighting the role of religious ideology in shaping limited technological approaches, the paper explores how constraints on teachers’ practices stem not only from resource-driven limitations but from minimal technological will.

Pengembangan Suplemen Bahan Ajar IPAS Materi Harmoni dan Ekosistem Siswa Kelas V

In general, this research aims to produce a product in the form of a supplement teaching materials for the Science and Social subject on Harmony and Ecosystems students grade Vth as accompanying teaching materials in the learning process at State Elementary School 17 Pontianak City. The method used in this research is R&D (Research and Development) with a mixed method and using the ADDIE model with five stages analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. All data obtained in this research came from the homeroom teacher, 27 students and two experts. The techniques in this research to get all the data used interviews, test and questionnaires. Validation results by the first validator for products obtained an average of 4.93 with a percentage of 98.6% (Very Valid) and the second Validator obtained an average of 4.86 with a percentage of 97.2% (Very Valid). The results from the small group product trials obtained an average of 4.74 with a percentage of 95% (Very Good) and the large group product trials obtained an average of 4.65 with a percentage of 93% (Very Good). The results of the response questionnaire to homeroom teacher obtained an average of 4.53 with a percentage of 90.6% (Very Good).

This study analyzed the perception of job environment and job satisfaction of 748 new teachers, and the influence relationship between job environment and job satisfaction. The research results are as follows. First, new teachers’ job satisfaction was at a normal level, and their perception of the work environment was at a normal and below average level, excluding job stability. Second, in the analysis of group differences in new teachers’ job satisfaction and work environment, the perception of new elementary school teachers was statistically lower than that of new teachers at other school levels. Third, both internal and external job factors were influencing the job satisfaction of new teachers. Based on the research results, suggestions were made to improve the financial compensation system and Creating conditions for participation in the decision-making process for new teachers, cooperate with homeroom teachers, develop capabilities, and establish a work environment evaluation system.

Children’s Historical Literacy Improvement Program for The First Graders at Brawijaya Smart School

This community service aimed to improve the historical literacy of the firstgradestudents at the Elementary School of BSS (Brawijaya Smart School) regardingthe history of Malang. BSS Elementary School is located in Malang City, East Java.The community service activity consisted of writing and publishing a book about oneof the cultural heritages of Malang, distributing it to the first graders, and organizinga storytelling performance based on the book. The community service team chosethe classical history displayed in the Jago Temple, built in the 13th century during theSinghasari period. The temple is located in Malang Regency. This activity received agood response from the homeroom teacher and the first-grade students of the BSSelementary school. The students expressed their interest in learning more about thehistory of Malang. It can be concluded that this community service has been successfulin improving the historical literacy of the students about their city.

Inclusive elementary school musicking practice for Japanese students with special needs: A narrative inquiry

Musicking is an old, yet new concept of music-making. The term, first proposed by anthropologist Christopher Small, intended to reinterpret music as not merely an act but also as an object. While musicking, anyone can participate in musical activities, which include singing, dancing, improvisation, and listening to musicking sessions. This study examines the use of musicking strategies in a Japanese elementary school with special needs students. The initial participants comprised 10 students from the first to sixth grades from a public elementary school in the northern part of Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Dr. A, the lead researcher of this study, is a violinist–teacher–researcher with professional orchestra experience in the United States. His career as a guest music teacher spans more than 20 years. In addition, two homeroom teachers and two university students supported the research project as participant observers. Based on Dr. A’s related practice in this area, this study explored musicking with a special emphasis on student inclusion. By applying a narrative inquiry and multivocal ethnography, this study investigated various events that were experienced in the musicking practice. Finally, the participants co-constructed a research-based narrative, focusing on creating a learning environment enabling all participants to build a musical community together. By synthesizing the participants’ thoughts, providing insights into musicking practice, exploring unexpected events, and utilizing the intuitive nature of music, the participants identified an approach for a comprehensive model for musicking.

가정 내 혼돈이 유아의 자기결정성에 미치는 영향: 유아 주의력의 매개효과를 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to verify direct and indirect effects of household chaos on the self-determination of young children by focusing on the mediating effects of children’s attention. The subjects of the study were 267 5-year-old children, their mothers, and 21 homeroom teachers. To analyze the mediating effect of children's attention in the relationship between household chaos and children's self-determination, Model 4 of SPSS PROCESS macro proposed by Hayes (2018) was applied. The findings of this study indicate that household chaos has a significant effect on children's self-determination in educational settings by influencing their attention span subsequently. This suggests that maintaining a certain level of stimulation in the home is important for the development of children, as excessive levels of unpredictable stimuli hinder children's attention and negatively affect their self-determination. The study is meaningful in that it provides basic data for promoting self-determination in the field of early childhood education by analyzing factors that affect children's self-determination. Furthermore, the study implications suggest that the study can be used as theoretical data for teacher and parent education to promote the development of self-determination of young children.

Becoming a homeroom teacher: spatial and temporal dimensions of identity formation

ABSTRACT Despite sustained focus in recent years on teachers’ identity construction, alongside researchers’ increasing acknowledgement of the roles of time and space in identity formation, a paucity of work explores the role of spatial – temporal dimensions in the formation of teachers’ identities. In this study we examine how teachers’ professional identities are constructed and practiced in relation to space and time. Our analysis is grounded in theories that conceptualise space and time as entangled with social relations, and it draws on semi-structured interviews with 142 homeroom teachers, who work in primary, middle and high schools in Israel. We argue that teachers’ identity construction is a spatially and temporally embedded process. We show how participants’ identity is constructed through temporal structures of formal, longer-term ‘cycles’ (e.g. the school year) and through mostly informal, shorter-term ‘moments’ (e.g. critical incidents), as well as through significant spatial structures such as the classroom and the staffroom. We also show how school trips – a space-time outside the boundaries of school grounds and timetables – facilitate formative experiences. Our findings show how teachers’ professional identity is part of the production and reproduction of these space-time constructs, which are constructed around interactions and relationships with others.

Understanding of Student Manners and Norms in Keboan Anom Gedangan Elementary School

This study is motivated by the phenomenon that the majority of students in class VI-D at SD Negeri Keboan Anom Gedangan do not reflect the etiquette and norms that have been established in the school environment. In this case the researcher aims to examine the extent of students understanding of etiquette and norms. The aim to be adchieved in this research is to describe students understanding of etiquette and norms at SD Negeri Keboan Anom Gedangan, the describer students habituation of etiquette and norms at SD Negeri Keboan Anom Gedangan. This study is research that uses a qualitative approach. The data collection method used was to provide a questionnaire containing 25 statements that had to be ticked by class VI-D students at SD Negeri Keboan Anom Gedangan and an interview containing 10 question conducted with the class VI-D teacher. Data analysis data, compiling data systematically, and drawing conclusions. Like the data that has been obtained through questionnareires and interviews conducted with the homeroom teacher and class VI-D students at SD Negeri Keboan Anom Gedangan, the results of the data are the analysed by researchers so that conclusions can be drawn. Based on the results of likert scale calculations, it shows that there are 13 children who really understand, 13 children understand, and 2 children does not understand etiquette and norms. From these results it can be concluded that the majority of class VI-D students understand the etiquette and norms that exist in the school environment, SD Negeri Keboan Anom Gedangan also made adjustments to instill etiquette and norms.

Analysis of Class Management Strategies for Class Teachers: How to Achieve Order amidst Busy Activities

As the basic unit of school teaching activities, the management level of the class plays a crucial role in the healthy and comprehensive development of students, as well as the completion of various educational and teaching tasks. Class management is a complex and arduous task that requires the homeroom teacher to have the correct methods. For newly appointed class teachers, learning class management experience is particularly important. The author elaborates on the relevant strategies of class management for homeroom teachers from three aspects: preparation, adherence to routines, and good learning, focusing on the theme of "busy yet orderly new officials taking office", and puts forward practical and useful suggestions.

Child Protection Law no. 23 of 2002 explains that every child has the right to receive growth and development monitoring without exception. Early detection of deviations in growth and development needs to be done, one of which is by using digital-based growth and development e-Reports. Objective: The e-report product produced can increase efficiency and effectiveness, helping teachers, homeroom teachers, cadres or health workers in managing the SDIDTK program so that valid, practical and effective digital-based e-Report applications can be obtained. Research methods: The research design for the development of digital-based growth and development e-reports was carried out referring to the development of the 4D model which includes define, design, develop and disseminate. Character education is more important than moral education because character education not only recognizes what is right and what is wrong but also how students are subjected to goodness. Character education includes education of values, ethics, morals, and character and aims to teach students how to make good choices and maintain goodness in daily life. This study aims to determine how the implementation of character-based school management in SDN 1 Watubelah runs. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques: in-depth interviews, observations, and audiovisuals. The criteria used to select informants are homeroom teachers, BK teachers, and curriculum staff. The study results show that schools want to instill traits such as creativity, talent, and morals. They also do not forget basic traits such as honesty, discipline, etc

Efektivitas E-Rapor di SMK Negeri Kota Padang

This research was motivated by problems regarding the effectiveness of e-reports at Padang City Vocational Schools according to teachers' perceptions. The aim of this research is to explore information about the effectiveness of e-reports according to homeroom teachers' perceptions in terms of achieving goals, adaptation and job satisfaction. The research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive method with a population of 248 homeroom teachers at SMKN and a sample of 73 people was selected using the Slovin formula and the Stratified Random Sampling technique. The results of the research show that the effectiveness of e-reports in Padang City Vocational Schools according to teachers' perceptions obtained an average score of 4.17 in the high/capable category. From these results it can be concluded that the homeroom teacher's perception of the effectiveness of e-reports at SMKN Padang City is said to be high/capable

Implementation of a Flagship Program in Instilling Religious Values in Students: Case Study at MTs Muhammadiyah

One of the efforts of madrasas to improve the quality of education is through superior programs because this activity has an important role in improving the management of madrasas that are dynamic, innovative, and full of ideas in shaping the development of students’ character who have religious values. This research is (1) to determine the application of superior programs in instilling religious values in students. (2) describe the implications of instilling religious values in students. The focus of this research was carried out at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang, East Java. This research is field research; the type used is a case study with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques (observation, interviews, documentation) were carried out on 25 informants through “Focus Group Discussion” (FGD). First, the process of implementing this superior program is carried out through various religious activities, forming an implementation schedule; coaching activities through homeroom teachers; exemplary values; and evaluating rewards/punishments as well as coordinating the institution with the homeroom teacher. This program aims to foster an Islamic environment, develop religious character, and integrate Islamic values into students’ daily lives. Second, the implications of this superior program can strengthen character, such as worship habits; provide guidance and motivation to students; strengthening morality, honesty, justice; building cooperation, mutual respect; build discipline, responsibility, and get closer to Allah SWT. Therefore, schools must continue to consider the long term so that the contribution of implementing superior programs in creating students’ religious values can be increased more effectively.

PAI Teachers' Strategies In Improving Students' Learning Activity In PAI Subjects In Elementary Schools (Case Study Research at SDN 2 Parakan Garokgek, Purwakarta Regency)

This study was motivated by observations showing low interest and activeness of students in participating in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, which has implications for the achievement of learning objectives that are not optimal. This study explores the strategies Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers to improve student learning activeness in Elementary Schools. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method—data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Research participants consisted of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, principals, and homeroom teachers at the school. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and qualitatively to understand the strategies applied by teachers in planning and implementing learning and the factors that influence its success. The study results showed that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers used various innovative and creative learning strategies to improve student learning activeness, such as discussion methods, group work, and interactive learning media. In addition, this study identified factors that influence the success of learning strategies, including active student involvement, support from the school environment, and teacher competence and creativity in teaching. This study provides theoretical contributions in the form of new knowledge and insights regarding Islamic Religious Education learning strategies in elementary schools and practical benefits for teachers, schools, and educational institutions to improve the quality of learning and student learning activity.
