Impact of Home-Based Rehabilitation on Renal Prognosis in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.

The increasing prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) requires effective preventive measures, particularly due to an aging population. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of home visit rehabilitation in preventing renal function decline among patients with CKD. In this retrospective study, patients with non-dialysis CKD undergoing home visit rehabilitation were compared with those receiving outpatient care at the Nippon Medical School Hospital between August 2017 and August 2023. Patients' backgrounds were matched using propensity scores derived from a logistic regression model. The primary endpoint was the annual change in the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and the secondary endpoint was the annual change in blood parameters (Δblood urea nitrogen, Δcreatinine, Δtotal protein, Δalbumin, ΔC-reactive protein, Δhemoglobin, and Δhematocrit). Furthermore, the incidence of clinical outcomes, including mortality, hospitalization rate, and dialysis initiation rate, were analyzed within the additional 1-year observation period. Overall, 128 patients (64 matched pairs) were analyzed. After a mean follow-up period of 12.7 ± 4.6 months, there was no significant difference in the eGFR between both groups (40.1 ± 13.7 vs. 37.8 ± 13.8 mL/min/1.73 m2, p = 0.36), but the annual decline in eGFR (%/year) was significantly lower in the rehabilitation group (-1.1 ± 29.8% vs. -11.8 ± 27.7%/year, p = 0.037). The annual change in the level of each blood test parameter and clinical outcomes were not significantly different between the two groups. Home-based rehabilitation interventions may mitigate the progression of renal impairment in patients with CKD.

Implementation of a multimodal home-based rehabilitation intervention after discharge from inpatient geriatric rehabilitation (GeRas): an early qualitative process evaluation

BackgroundGeriatric rehabilitation aims at increasing physical and social activity and maintaining the functional reserve of older people. However, the continuity of geriatric rehabilitation in the outpatient setting is limited due to a lack of structured aftercare programs. In order to overcome this, a three-month multimodal home-based intervention program (GeRas) was implemented. The aim of this early qualitative process evaluation was to assess GeRas in terms of perceived reach, effectiveness/efficacy, adoption/uptake, implementation, and maintenance/sustainability (Domains within the RE-AIM Framework) from the perspective of patients who received the intervention and healthcare providers who were involved in the delivery of the intervention.MethodsIn a qualitative process evaluation, 13 healthcare providers and 10 patients were interviewed throughout the beginning of the implementation period of GeRas to capture early experiences using a semi-structured interview guide. The interview guide and qualitative content analysis was guided by the RE-AIM Framework.ResultsThe GeRas program was perceived to be largely well implemented and beneficial by healthcare providers and patients. According to healthcare providers, GeRas showed more advantages compared to usual care. Additionally, outcome expectations were mainly met (Domain 1: Effectiveness). However, the implementation of the intervention delivered via the eHealth system was perceived as challenging (Domain 2: Adoption). Nevertheless, the outpatient physical exercise, the outpatient counselling, and the continuous care after discharge improved perceived well-being regardless of the intervention type (Domain 3: Implementation). To facilitate the continued use of GeRas, technical requirements should be created to increase user-friendliness and to motivate patients to continue the training in the long term (Domain 4: Maintenance).ConclusionAlthough initial experiences with the implementation and effectiveness of GeRas were positive in general, organisational and technical issues need to be resolved to enhance sustainable and successful implementation of the GeRas program.Trial registrationGerman Clinical Trials Register (DRKS00029559). Cost-effectiveness of neuropsychological rehabilitation for acquired brain injuries: Update of Stolwyk etal.'s (2019) review.

Acquired brain injuries (ABI), resulting from stroke or traumatic brain injury, cause a range of neuropsychological impairments and many patients continue to experience neuropsychological deficits years after onset. The increasing average age of the population highlights the importance of effective management strategies for the consequences of ABI. Despite the well-documented impact of rehabilitation interventions, the cost-effectiveness of neuropsychological rehabilitation remains largely unknown. This study conducted a scoping review to update the findings of Stolwyk etal. (Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, 2021, 31, 316), focusing on the economic evaluations of neuropsychological rehabilitation for individuals with ABI. Following the PIO framework, PRISMA ScR guidelines, and systematic review reporting checklist, the review screened 1027 articles and included eight studies published between 2019 and 2024. The studies encompassed either language rehabilitation or general neuropsychological programs, including neuropsychological interventions. The economic analyses, including two cost-effectiveness, five cost-utility, and one cost-benefit study, mostly adhered to CHEERS guidelines, enhancing the transparency and methodological rigour of their reporting. These studies demonstrated varying degrees of cost-effectiveness for interventions targeting post-stroke language disorders and neuropsychological rehabilitation for ABI, with significant cost savings and health benefits observed, particularly for home-based rehabilitation interventions. The included studies suffered from a short time horizon, limiting the ability to capture the long-term economic impacts and effectiveness of the interventions. Future research should focus on longer-term follow-up data and include broader search strategies to enhance understanding and optimise health care interventions. A comprehensive implementation of these economic analyses is crucial for informing policymakers, enabling them to introduce rehabilitative interventions based on solid evidence.

The role of patient-related factors in the implementation of a multimodal home-based rehabilitation intervention after discharge from inpatient geriatric rehabilitation (GeRas): a qualitative process evaluation.

Structured aftercare programs are implemented to facilitate the transition from rehabilitation centers to patients' home environments. Taking the program GeRas as an example, this paper aims to evaluate the influence of patient-related factors on the implementation of the geriatric aftercare program GeRas from patients' and providers' perspectives. To capture patients' and providers' perspectives, qualitative interviews were conducted using a semi-structured interview guide. The analysis was inductive-deductive and based on the thematic analysis by Braun and Clarke and guided by Domain IV of the CFIR. 16 participants (10 patients, 4 providers, 2 family members) were interviewed from May 2023 to November 2023. Patient-related factors were perceived as an important aspect during the implementation of the GeRas program. The results were allocated to the four Constructs of Domain IV of the CFIR (Motivation, Opportunity, Capability, Needs). Especially patients' intrinsic motivation, social environment, and physical capabilities seemed to be crucial for successful implementation. While extrinsic motivation can mitigate missing personal capabilities, it cannot replace the presence of intrinsic motivation and capabilities. The results showed that patient-related factors are interlinked. The relevance of patient-related factors during the implementation of the GeRas program shows that such programs must consider these factors during intervention planning.

Body Mass Index and Thoracic Expansion in Post-COVID Dyspnea: A Secondary Analysis.

Dyspnea secondary to lung impairment can persist following the acute phase of COVID-19. Thoracic expansion measurements have been used as a diagnostic tool to evaluate chest wall mobility, respiratory function, and the effects of respiratory muscle strength training. Changes in chest wall mobility may occur because of altered chest biomechanics in individuals with respiratory diseases and an elevated body mass index (BMI). The purpose of this secondary analysis was to evaluate whether BMI influences thoracic expansion or forced expiratory volume over 1 second (FEV1) in individuals with persistent dyspnea following COVID-19. This study assessed the relationship between BMI and thoracic expansion, pulmonary symptoms, and exercise capacity following a home-based pulmonary rehabilitation intervention. A secondary data analysis was conducted with a sample of 19 adults with persistent dyspnea following COVID-19 infection who participated in a 12-week, home-based pulmonary rehabilitation study. Participants received expiratory muscle strength training devices and were instructed to perform pulmonary rehabilitation exercises three times per week over the study period. Pulmonary function, pulmonary symptoms, exercise capacity, and BMI measurements were collected. For analysis, study participants were divided into obese (BMI > 30 kg/m2) or nonobese (BMI < 30 kg/m2) categories. Correlations using the change scores from baseline to 12 weeks between thoracic expansion, FEV1, pulmonary symptoms, and exercise capacity were assessed. In addition, the minimal detectable change (MDC) in thoracic expansion was explored. Thoracic expansion was significantly improved after 12 weeks of training (p = .012) in the nonobese group. There was a significant correlation between the change in walking distance and pulmonary symptoms (r = -.738, p < .001) and in thoracic expansion (r = .544, p = .020), and walking distance, when controlling for BMI, but no change in FEV1. Average MDC was 1.28 for inspiration and 0.91 for expiration. Measurements of thoracic expansion were significantly lower in post-COVID individuals with an increased BMI. Individuals with persistent dyspnea and a higher BMI may require additional measures to increase chest mobility or to detect pulmonary changes following COVID-19.

Multimodal home-based rehabilitation intervention after discharge from inpatient geriatric rehabilitation (GeRas): study protocol for a multicenter randomized controlled trial

BackgroundGeriatric rehabilitation aims to maintain the functional reserves of older adults in order to optimize social participation and prevent disability. After discharge from inpatient geriatric rehabilitation, patients are at high risk for decreased physical capacity, increased vulnerability, and limitations in mobility. As a result, ageing in place becomes uncertain for a plethora of patients after discharge from geriatric rehabilitation and effective strategies to prevent physical decline are required. Collaboration between different health-care providers is essential to improve continuity of care after discharge from inpatient geriatric rehabilitation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a multi-professional home-based intervention program (GeRas) to improve functional capacity and social participation in older persons after discharge from inpatient geriatric rehabilitation.MethodsThe study is a multicenter, three-arm, randomized controlled trial with a three-month intervention period. Two hundred and seventy community-dwelling older people receiving inpatient geriatric rehabilitation will be randomized with a 1:1:1 ratio to one of the parallel intervention groups (conventional IG or tablet IG) or the control group (CG). The participants of both IGs will receive a home-based physical exercise program supervised by physical therapists, a nutritional recommendation by a physician, and social counseling by social workers of the health insurance company. The collaboration between the health-care providers and management of participants will be realized within a cloud environment based on a telemedicine platform and supported by multi-professional case conferences. The CG will receive usual care, two short handouts on general health-related topics, and facultative lifestyle counseling with general recommendations for a healthy diet and active ageing. The primary outcomes will be the physical capacity measured by the Short Physical Performance Battery and social participation assessed by the modified Reintegration to Normal Living Index, three months after discharge.DiscussionThe GeRas program is designed to improve the collaboration between health-care providers in the transition from inpatient geriatric rehabilitation to outpatient settings. Compared to usual care, it is expected to improve physical capacity and participation in geriatric patients after discharge from inpatient geriatric rehabilitation.Trial registrationGerman Clinical Trials Register (DRKS00029559). Effect of an Individually Tailored and Home-Based Intervention in the Chronic Phase of Traumatic Brain Injury

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can cause long-lasting and heterogeneous difficulties that require an individually tailored approach to rehabilitation. However, high-quality studies of treatment options in the chronic phase of TBI are lacking. To evaluate the effect of a home-based, individualized, and goal-oriented rehabilitation intervention in the chronic phase of TBI. This study was an intention-to-treat parallel-group assessor-blinded randomized clinical trial with 1:1 randomization to an intervention or control group. Participants included adults in southeastern Norway who had sustained a TBI more than 2 years earlier, lived at home, and had ongoing TBI-related difficulties. A population-based sample of 555 individuals were invited, and 120 were included. Participants were assessed at baseline, 4 months, and 12 months after inclusion. Specialized rehabilitation therapists provided the intervention in patients' homes or via video conference and telephone. Data collection was conducted between June 5, 2018, and December 14, 2021. The intervention group received an 8-session individually tailored and goal-oriented rehabilitation program over 4 months. The control group received usual care in their municipality. Preestablished primary outcomes were disease-specific health-related quality of life (HRQOL; measured by the Quality of Life After Brain Injury [QOLIBRI] overall scale) and social participation (measured by the Participation Assessment With Recombined Tools-Objective [PART-O] social subscale). Preestablished secondary outcomes included generic HRQOL (measured by the EuroQol 5-dimension 5-level [EQ-5D-5L] questionnaire), difficulty with TBI-related problem management (target outcomes; mean severity calculated across 3 main self-identified problem areas that were individually measured using a 4-point Likert scale), TBI symptoms (measured by the Rivermead Post Concussion Symptoms Questionnaire [RPQ]), psychological distress (depression and anxiety; measured by the Patient Health Questionnaire 9-item scale and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale [GAD-7], respectively), and functional competency (measured by the Patient Competency Rating Scale). Among 120 participants in the chronic phase of TBI, the median (IQR) age was 47.5 (31.0-55.8) years, and the median (IQR) time since injury was 4 (3-6) years; 85 (70.8%) were male. A total of 60 participants were randomized to the intervention group, and 60 were randomized to the control group. Between baseline and 12 months, no significant between-group effects were found for the primary outcomes of disease-specific HRQOL (QOLIBRI overall scale score: 2.82; 97.5% CI, -3.23 to 8.88; P = .30) or social participation (PART-O social subscale score: 0.12; 97.5% CI, -0.14 to 0.38; P = .29). At 12 months, the intervention group (n = 57) had significantly higher generic HRQOL (EQ-5D-5L score: 0.05; 95% CI, 0.002-0.10; P = .04) and fewer symptoms of TBI (RPQ total score: -3.54; 95% CI, -6.94 to -0.14; P = .04) and anxiety (GAD-7 score: -1.39; 95% CI, -2.60 to -0.19; P = .02) compared with the control group (n = 55). At 4 months only, the intervention group (n = 59) had significantly less difficulty managing TBI-related problems (target outcomes mean severity score: -0.46, 95% CI, -0.76 to -0.15; P = .003) compared with the control group (n = 59). No adverse events were reported. In this study, no significant results were observed for the primary outcomes of disease-specific HRQOL or social participation. However, the intervention group reported improvements in secondary outcomes (generic HRQOL and symptoms of TBI and anxiety) that were maintained at 12-month follow-up. Predictors of physical activity behavior change among patients with heart failure enrolled in home-based cardiac rehabilitation intervention

BackgroundPhysical activity behavior change is considered one of the most challenging lifestyle modifications in patients with heart failure. Even after participation in a cardiac rehabilitation program, most patients do not engage in the recommended level of physical activity. ObjectiveTo determine which baseline demographic, physical activity levels, psychological distress, and clinical variables predicted physical activity behavior change to increasing light-to-vigorous physical activity by 10,000 steps/day following participation in home-based cardiac rehabilitation intervention. MethodsA prospective design involving secondary analysis was used to analyze data obtained from 127 patients (mean, 61; range, 45–69 years) enrolled in and completed an 8-week home-based mobile health app intervention. The intervention was designed to encourage health behavior change with regard to decreasing sedentary behavior and increasing physical activities performed at light or greater intensities. ResultsNone of the participants accumulated 10,000 steps or more per day pre-intervention (mean, 1549; range, 318–4915 steps/day). Only 55 participants (43%) achieved an average daily step count of 10,000 or more at week 8 of the intervention (10,674 ± 263). The results of the logistic regression showed that higher pre-intervention physical activity levels and anxiety symptoms and lower depressive symptoms were associated with a higher likelihood of achieving physical activity behavior change (p < .003). ConclusionThese data highlight that determining pre-intervention physical activity levels and depressive symptoms can be the key to designing an effective home-based cardiac rehabilitation intervention in patients with heart failure.

Caregiver presence in a home-based cardiac rehabilitation programme improves the health-related quality of life of patients with heart failure.

Rehabilitation EnAblement in CHronic Heart Failure (REACH-HF) is a home-based cardiac rehabilitation intervention designed for patients with heart failure and their caregivers. We present a pooled analysis of patients >18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of HF recruited to two REACH-HF randomized controlled trials. Where identified by patients and consented to participate, caregivers were randomly assigned with patients to receive the REACH-HF intervention plus usual care or usual care alone. Our analysis demonstrated that compared to control group, the REACH-HF group had a greater gain in their disease-specific health-related quality of life at follow-up.

Effects of a Goal-Oriented and Home-Based Intervention in the Chronic Phase of Traumatic Brain Injury

<h3>Research Objectives</h3> To evaluate the efficacy of a goal-oriented and home-based rehabilitation intervention in the chronic phase of traumatic brain injury (TBI). As the expected sequelae after TBI are highly heterogeneous, there is a need to tailor rehabilitation interventions to meet the specific need of each patient. <h3>Design</h3> Parallel two-group randomized controlled trial. Pre-test at baseline (T1), follow-up immediately post-intervention (4-5 months; T2) and at 12 months post inclusion (T3). <h3>Setting</h3> Ambulatory resources (physiotherapist, medical doctor, neuropsychologist) from specialized health care services delivered in-home in South-Eastern Norway. <h3>Participants</h3> 120 participants were randomized 1:1 to either treatment or control groups. Inclusion criteria were a TBI diagnosis with radiologically verified intracranial abnormalities, age 18-72 years, time since injury ≥ 2 years and experiencing ongoing TBI-related cognitive, emotional, and/or physical problems, and/or reduced physical and mental health, and/or difficulties with participation in activities with family, friends, and/or in the community. <h3>Interventions</h3> An individualized, goal-oriented intervention delivered in-home or by videoconference, with eight intervention sessions delivered over a 4-month period. Main elements of the intervention were (i) identification of target problem areas, (ii) establishment of SMART-goals and Goal Attainment Scaling, and (iii) development of an action plan with evidence-based strategies to achieve goal and mitigate difficulties. The control group received standard care in the municipalities. <h3>Main Outcome Measures</h3> Primary outcomes were health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and participation. Secondary outcomes included difficulty handling target outcome areas, post-concussive symptoms, anxiety, depression, and functional competency. <h3>Results</h3> The intervention group displayed significantly higher HRQoL, as well as lower rates of post-concussive symptoms and anxiety-related symptoms at T3.The time X group model was not significant for other outcomes. Detailed results will be presented at the conference. <h3>Conclusions</h3> This intervention shows promise as a potential treatment option for a broad range of problem profiles found in the chronic phase of TBI. Feasibility of a home-based interdisciplinary rehabilitation program for patients with Post-Intensive Care Syndrome: the REACH study

BackgroundSurvivors of critical illness experience long-term functional challenges, which are complex, heterogeneous, and multifactorial in nature. Although the importance of rehabilitation interventions after intensive care unit (ICU) discharge is universally recognized, evidence on feasibility and effectiveness of home-based rehabilitation programs is scarce and ambiguous. This study investigates the feasibility of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation program designed for patients with Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) who are discharged home.MethodsA mixed method, non-randomized, prospective pilot feasibility study was performed with a 6-month follow-up, comparing the intervention (REACH) with usual care. REACH was provided by trained professionals and included a patient-centered, interdisciplinary approach starting directly after hospital discharge. Primary outcomes were patient safety, satisfaction, adherence, referral need and health care usage. Secondary outcomes, measured at 3 timepoints, were functional exercise capacity, self-perceived health status, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), return to work and psychotrauma. Risk of undernutrition was assessed at baseline.Results43 patients with a median mechanical ventilation duration of 8 (IQR:10) days, were included in the study and 79.1% completed 6-month follow-up. 19 patients received the intervention, 23 received usual care. Groups were similar for gender distribution and ICU length of stay. No adverse events occurred. REACH participants showed higher satisfaction with treatment and reported more allied health professional visits, while the usual care group reported more visits to medical specialists. Qualitative analysis identified positive experiences among REACH-professionals related to providing state-of-the-art interventions and sharing knowledge and expertise within an interprofessional network. Similar recovery was seen between groups on all secondary outcomes, but neither group reached reference values for HRQoL at 6 months. Larger return to work rates were seen in the REACH group. Prevalence of undernutrition at hospital discharge was high in both groups (> 80%), warranting the need for careful tuning of physical therapy and nutritional interventions.ConclusionsThis study shows that providing early, home-based rehabilitation interventions for patients with PICS-related symptoms is feasible and perceived positively by patients and professionals. When provided in an interdisciplinary collaborative network state of the art, person-centered interventions can be tailored to individual needs potentially increasing patient satisfaction, adherence, and efficacy.Registered in the Dutch Trial register: NL7792: https://www.trialregister.nl/trial/7792, registered 7-06-2019.

Feasibility of a Health Coaching and Home-Based Rehabilitation Intervention With Remote Monitoring for COPD.

Pulmonary rehabilitation is an effective treatment for patients with COPD, but patient uptake and adherence to the current offering of center-based pulmonary rehabilitation is modest due to transportation, access, poverty, and frailty, and even more so in the context of the COVID pandemic. Home-based options have been proposed and were found noninferior to center-based rehabilitation; however, there is a lack of home-based programs, and more understanding is needed. We aimed to test the feasibility, uptake, and adherence to a home-based program for COPD rehabilitation with health coaching. We conducted a randomized trial with a wait-list controlled design to evaluate the effects of a home-based program with health coaching on breathlessness in subjects with moderate to severe COPD unable to attend the regular pulmonary rehabilitation program. The 8-week intervention consisted of video-guided exercises to be done 6 times a week and captured with a computer tablet. Health coaching was done weekly over the telephone to review subject activity and symptoms and to provide an opportunity for the subject to define their weekly goals. The primary outcomes were uptake, adherence, and Chronic Respiratory Questionnaire (CRQ) Dyspnea Domain. Secondary outcomes were self-management abilities and CRQ Emotions-Mastery-Fatigue. 154 subjects with moderate to severe COPD were randomized. Subject adherence was 86% to the proposed 6-times a week exercise routine. There (P = .062) was no significant difference in breathlessness (CRQ dyspnea). There was a significant improvement in self-management abilities (P < .001). The results of the qualitative interviews showed high levels of acceptability of the program. The tested home-based rehabilitation program with health coaching was feasible, highly acceptable, showed a high degree of adherence, and improved self-management abilities. This study offers seminal information for home-based rehabilitation programs to design alternative options of rehabilitation to individuals with COPD that cannot attend to the well-established center-based pulmonary rehabilitation. Usability and acceptability of a mobile application prototype for a combined behavioural activation and physical rehabilitation intervention in acute respiratory failure survivors

BackgroundAcute respiratory failure survivors experience depression symptoms and new impairments in physical function. Behavioural activation, an evidence-based nonpharmacological treatment for depression, combined with physical rehabilitation, is a promising intervention. Notably, mHealth applications (Apps) are potentially effective methods of delivering home-based interventions. ObjectivesThe objective of this study was to evaluate the usability and acceptability of a prototype App to deliver a combined, home-based behavioural activation and rehabilitation intervention to acute respiratory failure survivors. MethodsA prospective user-preference study was conducted with acute respiratory failure survivors and self-designated care partners. Survivors were adults with at least mild depression symptoms before hospital discharge who received mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit for ≥24 h. Survivors and care partners reviewed the App during a single in-person home visit and completed the System Usability Scale (range: 0–100; score >73 considered “good”) and a semistructured interview. ResultsTen patient/care partner dyads completed study. The median [interquartile range] patient age was 50 [40–64] years, and 50% were female. The median System Usability Scale scores among patients and care partners were 76 [68–83] and 88 [75–94], respectively. Qualitative feedback supported usability and acceptability of the App, with three themes reported: (1) stigma associated with depression, (2) App as a motivator for recovery, and (3) App providing multidisciplinary support for survivor and care partner. ConclusionsA mobile App prototype designed to deliver a combined behavioural activation and rehabilitation intervention was usable and acceptable to survivors of acute respiratory failure and their care partners. Given the reported stigma associated with depression, the self-directed App may be particularly valuable for motivation and multidisciplinary support.

Effectiveness of home-based rehabilitation program in minimizing disability and secondary falls after a hip fracture: Protocol for a randomized controlled trial

IntroductionHip fractures are a major health problem globally and are associated with increased morbidity, mortality, and substantial economic costs. Successful operative treatment of hip fracture patients is necessary for the optimization of post-op mobility and functional recovery of the patient. Rehabilitation after surgical stabilization of a hip fracture is crucial in order to restore pre-fracture function and to avoid long-term institutionalization. In particular ongoing exercise which targets balance can prevent up to 40% of falls. Therefore, we have designed a post-discharge home-based physical rehabilitation intervention program to minimize disability and falls in this high-risk elderly population. Methods and analysisThe study will be an open label, simple randomized controlled trial at a single hospital. The two arms will be equally allocated on a 1:1 ratio into intervention and control groups. The control arm will receive the usual standard postoperative rehabilitation. The intervention group will receive an extended home-based rehabilitation program twice a week continued for 3 months (12 weeks) after discharge. The Primary outcome of the study is occurrence of falls. Falls will be measured at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months by research-assistant follow-up telephone calls for both the groups. Mobility-related disability will be measured with a self-reported test at every routine follow-up for up to two years using a performance-based short battery tool. Negative binomial regression model will be used to compare number of falls in both the groups by computing incidence ratio rates. Ethics and disseminationApproval for the conduction of this study has been taken from the Ethical Review Committee (ERC) of the institution. Evidences which will be obtained from this study will facilitate to propose changes in existing guidelines and policies for treating fall and hip fracture patients.Trial registrationThis trial is registered on clinicaltrials.gov ID: NCT04108793.
