12 tips for integrating the 12 Practitioner Values to improve clinical supervision for neurodiverse learners

With the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan requiring clinical placements to accommodate up to 50% more learners, the pressure on clinical educators to maintain high-quality learning environments is becoming increasingly intense. Neurodiverse learners face significant barriers in busy, fast-paced environments, making the cultivation of supportive and adaptive learning spaces essential to ensure all learners have the opportunity to thrive in a healthcare system under immense demand. This article is aimed at empowering clinical educators to lead inclusive placements through implementation of advanced supervision skills to support neurodiverse learners. These are presented as 12 practical strategies, each aligned with the 12 Practitioner Values, for fostering inclusive professional relationships. By offering actionable ‘tips’, this article addresses both the moral imperative to meet diverse learning needs and the systemic necessity of building a more inclusive workforce.

Impact of Classroom Management Techniques on Students' Learning Effectiveness in Public Primary Schools: A Study in District Sanghar, Sindh

This study search into the critical features of classroom management techniques and their impact on students’ effective learning at public primary school level in district Sangahar Sindh. Effective classroom management is a base to lead high quality learning environment to assist student engagement that grow academic achievement. The research work to survey the present condition of classroom management implementation in public primary schools in district Sanghar analyze their impact on students learning outcome. This research employs a quantitative approach and analysis methods. A survey questions was conduct from primary school teachers in district Sanghar to collect data on their classroom management practices. The outcomes of this study analyze the most frequently used classroom management techniques by primary school teachers in district Sanghar examining the impact of these techniques on students’ academic achievement, engagement, behavior and analyze the relationship between classroom management practices and student learning outcome. The findings will be prepared precious awareness for teachers, policy makers, and education collaborator to make better classroom management process increase student learning and assist academic excellence in district Sanghar. The impact of classroom management techniques on students’ effective learning has significant relationship towards the development of active body of knowledge and result suggested authentication about these practices that support student success in all manners.

Profiles of young children's home environment and association with their development.

This study aimed to identify profiles of young children's early home environment and explore their association with development in motor, inhibitory control, language, and emotional competence skills. The sample included 2,158 children (51.4% male), 35.47 months old on average. Four home environment profiles emerged: high support and high discipline (HS-HD), high support and low discipline (HS-LD), average support and average discipline (AS-AD), and low support and low discipline (LS-LD). Notably, children from higher socioeconomic status (SES) families were more likely to be associated with HS-HD and HS-LD profiles. Girls exhibited a higher likelihood of belonging to the HS-LD profile. Utilizing regression analyses, children showed the highest motor, inhibitory control, language, and emotional competence development when they were in the HS-LD home environment profile. A concerning finding is that high discipline from parents was negatively associated with children's development, despite providing a high-quality physical environment. The text highlights the positive implications of providing a high-quality home learning environment and offers constructive recommendations for improving practice and future research. Competencias digitales en pedagogía, ciudadanía y desarrollo profesional del profesorado universitario

In today’s digitized world, digital competences are required to facilitate the transition to the Internet. For professorship, these competences go beyond knowledge of a particular subject. They focus on the skills needed to transmit that knowledge to students. A quantitative approach study was applied. The design was non-experimental and descriptive. The population and sample correspond to the 70 teachers who worked in the Faculty of Humanistic and Social Sciences during the first semester of 2023. The instrument for data collection was a teaching self-assessment. The competencies in digital citizenship showed the highest levels of teacher mastery with a value of 5. The competencies in pedagogy and professional development showed a value of 4. 93% of UTM-CHS teachers stated they had participated in training activities on the use of ICT in education. In conclusion, university faculty in Ecuador must have a stronger digital academic background; they must establish better pedagogical and professional development skills, research capacity, knowledge of educational technologies, intercultural skills and leadership skills. To ensure a high-quality learning environment all three areas must be at the same level of outcomes. For that, university professional development leads to establishing good pedagogy. Then pedagogy is strengthened through digital citizenship.

Learning Model Based on Perspective’s Student

English is a language used for verbal and written communication. A mastery of communication is being able to decipher meaning from data, ideas, and feelings and use language to progress domains such as science, technology, and culture. English language competency is necessary to stay current with changes around the world. This study looked at how various teaching strategies and classroom setups affect students' interest in exploring art and culture. The results show that when the right techniques are used, excellent facilities increase students' motivation and facilitate easier and more effective learning. Furthermore, the provision of high-quality learning environments and the effective use of instructional strategies can support and enhance students' motivation to study.

In the quickly changing field of education, there exists a need to explore and understand the intricate interplay between transformative quality education, and generative artificial intelligence. Despite increasing attention to these components individually, there is a lack of comprehensive analysis regarding their interconnected roles and potential synergies within educational contexts. This gap in understanding hinders the realization of inclusive and high-quality learning environments, as well as the effective integration of AI technologies to enhance transformative educational practices. Thus, there is a pressing need to investigate the theoretical foundations, practical implications, challenges, and opportunities associated with the convergence of transformative quality education, and generative AI in order to inform stakeholders and advance the discourse on educational innovation and sustainability. This literature review presents a comprehensive examination of the relationship between transformative quality education, generative artificial intelligence in the educational sphere. By adopting a multidimensional approach, the review intends to construct a comprehensive conceptual map that illustrates the connections and interdependencies among transformative education, quality education, and generative AI. The review identifies potential challenges and opportunities at this intersection, offering valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and technologists. By serving as a knowledge base for informed discussions and future research, this review holds implications for various stakeholders. All things considered, the knowledge gleaned from this review of theliterature can help create a more thorough grasp of the revolutionary potential of generative AI in the context of high-quality education, which will eventually open the door for wise decision-making and more research in this important field.

A digital educational resource to support and enhance effective mentorship practices of nursing students in nursing homes: a qualitative study

BackgroundThere is a grooving body of evidence emphasising the need to support and enhance effective mentorship practices for nursing students in nursing home placements, including strengthening of the pedagogical competence of registered nurse mentors. Owing to the necessity for multifaceted mentoring competence and the challenges of workload registered nurses are facing, the use of flexible digital educational resources has been suggested. However, current knowledge on the effectiveness of digital educational resources in enhancing mentorship practices in nursing homes is scarce. This study aimed to explore the perception of registered nurse mentors regarding the effectiveness of a digital educational resource, particular its usability and value-in-use in supporting and enhancing mentorship practices in nursing homes.MethodsThe study applied an exploratory descriptive qualitative design. Pre- and post-mentoring semi-structured focus group interviews were conducted among a total of 23 registered nurse mentors across three Norwegian nursing homes. The transcribed interviews were thematically analysed. Standards for reporting qualitative research were followed.ResultsThe analysis yielded one pre-mentoring theme: (1) predominant enthusiasm and satisfaction and three post-mentoring themes: (2) enhanced confidence and motivation, (3) enhanced mentoring competence in supporting the nursing students’ learning process, and (4) factors influencing the value-in-use of the digital educational resource.ConclusionsDigital educational resources support effective mentorship practices by enhancing the confidence and motivation in the mentor role and by enabling more goal-oriented supervision and assessment tailored to the learning goals of students. The implementation of digital educational resources to support and enhance effective mentorship practices is an important avenue for further research towards achieving high-quality learning environments in clinical nursing education in general and nursing homes. Based on the study findings, nursing educational institutions should consider offering digital educational resources to develop, support, and advance mentorship training, which may more effectively impact and improve the quality of clinical nursing education.

The Influence of Infrastructure in Agricultural Subjects' Practical Learning Environment on ASPer UPM Students' Interest and Field of Study Selection

There is a growing global concern in agricultural education due to past findings on students’ lack of interest in studying and considering a career in agriculture. In spite of this, past local studies have shown an agricultural-related careers are getting more interest from students due to the practical learning environment provided by the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Agricultural Science Foundation (ASPer UPM) but there is no thorough explanation regarding the elements of practical learning environment that affects students' interest. This qualitative study was to provide additional insight into the learning infrastructure as a component of the agricultural subjects’ practical learning environment by examining how infrastructure in agricultural practical learning environment influences students’ interest and selection of agriculture as a field of study. Furthermore, it attempts to identify students' perceptions of practical learning infrastructure as part of the ASPer UPM learning environment. This qualitative study collected data through the focus group interview using an interview questions instrument. The study found that students perceive the provision of infrastructure and equipment as not uniform, and the technology adopted is inadequate and only sufficient to help with basic work. The students also perceive the instructors’ expertise and specialisation as helping them understand the course content and the specialised locations are aligned with the learning content. The study found that students' interest could be increased by changing the learning location and content, providing adequate, usable and conducive infrastructure and implementing clear teaching and practical learning procedures. At the same time, infrastructure can generate curiosity, provide early exposure to agriculture and change negative perceptions and interests to influence students to select agriculture as a field of study. Lastly, this study found an apparent relationship between Faculty of Agriculture cluster students' selection of fields of study and their foundation course CGPA. These results can be utilised as guidance for agricultural education institutions to design a high-quality practical learning environment via enhanced infrastructure.

Finnish early childhood education – building a strong foundation for the future

ABSTRACT The Finnish education system has garnered significant international interest due to its consistently high rankings for decades. However, the same level of interest has not been extended to the country’s early childhood education system. In Finland, early childhood education and care are regarded as the cornerstones of the Finnish education system, crucial for a child’s learning, development, and lifelong learning. Research literature underscores the positive impact of a high-quality early learning environment on individuals as well as society. In Finland, policy documents provide guidance to early childhood education and care (ECEC) at various levels, encompassing values, descriptions of child development, collaboration, learning, and pedagogy. These guidelines are implemented by personnel who work closely with families and children. This paper is an adapted version of a keynote talk delivered during the Online ATEA 2022 conference. It aims to provide readers with an overview of the Finnish Early Childhood Education System, highlight key policies, and contribute to the discussion on ECEC by presenting snapshots of recent practice-oriented research in the Finnish system.

An innovative approach to temporary educational facilities: A case study of relocatable modular school in South Korea

School remodeling/renovation has been a popular issue in education to deal with the growth of city populations and the reduction of school quality. For that concern, the concept of a relocatable modular school (RMS) has been adopted to address temporary classroom requirements during the renovation of the old school. Using a case study research approach, this paper analyzes the development of an RMS facility to investigate its effective performance in terms of engineering process, physical conditions, and life cycle assessment. Results show that the RMS system provides a high-quality learning environment while also being easily dismantled and relocated, making it a suitable solution for the ever-changing needs of educational delivery programs and new city development. This study emphasizes the significance of modular construction methods for school facilities and aims to encourage the adoption of RMS by practitioners and stakeholders, ultimately promoting the future advancement of modular construction methods.

Reform and Practice of the Dual Drive Talent Training Model of School Enterprise Collaboration and Subject Contest Innovation Education in Local Universities

With the continuous development of modern equipment manufacturing industry, the integration of industry and education through school enterprise collaboration has become an important way to improve the quality of teaching and talent cultivation in universities. In the training of mechanical professionals in local universities, based on the perspective of industry education integration, deep school enterprise collaboration, combined with mechanical subject competitions to supplement theoretical knowledge learning, can construct new formats for the teaching of this major and create a high-quality professional learning environment for students. The dual drive talent cultivation model of School Enterprise Collaboration and Subject Contest Innovation Education in local universities can solve many problems in the development process of local universities, such as insufficient dual teacher teachers, lagging practical training facilities, and disconnection between curriculum construction and industry demand. This article analyzes the current situation of talent cultivation and professional teaching in mechanical majors in universities, and proposes new strategies such as innovative industry education integration models, joint construction of teaching resources by schools and enterprises, optimization of practical training conditions by schools and enterprises, strengthening of teaching teams, and enhancing the comprehensive quality of students. It is hoped that this can help to build an efficient new pattern of industry education integration for local mechanical majors in universities, and cultivate high-quality, high-level, and high-quality talents.

Parentese in infancy predicts 5-year language complexity and conversational turns.

Parental input is considered a key predictor of language achievement during the first years of life, yet relatively few studies have assessed its effects on longer-term outcomes. We assess the effects of parental quantity of speech, use of parentese (the acoustically exaggerated, clear, and higher-pitched speech), and turn-taking in infancy, on child language at 5 years. Using a longitudinal dataset of daylong LENA recordings collected with the same group of English-speaking infants (N=44) at 6, 10, 14, 18, 24 months and then again at 5 years, we demonstrate that parents' consistent (defined as stable and high) use of parentese in infancy was a potent predictor of lexical diversity, mean length of utterance, and frequency of conversational turn-taking between children and adults at Kindergarten entry. Together, these findings highlight the potential importance of a high-quality language learning environment in infancy for success at the start of formal schooling.

Proposals and Methods for Foreign Language Learning Using Machine Translation and Large Language Model

In this paper, we propose a new learning model that utilizes machine translation and large language models. While English education has traditionally been conducted through the relationship between English teachers and learners, replacing English teachers with machine translation and large language models may offer the potential to provide an equally or even more efficient and high-quality learning environment. The authors have developed a browser-based service to experience this educational environment for Japanese. To experience a new learning model that is high quality and efficient, we have implemented DeepL, a machine translation service that can translate with high accuracy, and ChatGPT, which uses a large language model that can generate natural sentences and adapt to a variety of tasks interactively. By combining these advanced services, it is now possible to provide explanations of the English translations and to evaluate the essays. This newly developed service is currently being experimentally used in English classes at a Japanese university. Interviews with users who used it revealed that they were easily exposed to English above their level. In other words, the results suggest that this proposed model can provide a better environment for English utilization than teachers. The developed service is available to anyone at the following URL. The BioExperience Research and Entrepreneurship Challenge: An iGEM-inspired applied research program for BIOSTEM talent and skills development

Post-secondary education is falling behind in delivering the talent and skills development needed to support the growth of biology-based economies and the demands of professional and research-based graduate degree programs. Here, we describe an applied research program, the BioExperience Research and Entrepreneurship Challenge, launched in May 2020 to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on undergraduate experiential learning programs at the University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The program provided undergraduates with meaningful talent and skills development opportunities by implementing a student-centred, project-based learning approach inspired by the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition. We present evidence from participant exit surveys suggesting that the program delivers a high-quality learning environment and improves learning outcomes compared to traditional work-integrated learning. Notably, 84% of respondents reported an excellent or exceptional learning experience and significant or profound improvements in skills, such as leadership (72% of respondents), problem-solving (42% of respondents) and research preparedness (52%) that are difficult to develop in conventional academic programs. Remarkably, 60% of respondents report that the job-readiness training provided by the program is better or much better than traditional work-integrated learning. Our study demonstrates that a cost-effective and scalable alternative to the iGEM competition can improve talent and skills development in BIOSTEM fields.

Children with low effortful control benefit in high-quality home learning environment: Evidence from China.

The present study examined whether the home learning environment was longitudinally associated with children's language and cognitive development, and whether child effortful control moderated this association during the preschool years. Three hundred twenty-six Chinese parent-child dyads (at baseline, Mage = 63.36 months, SD = 9.87) were included in this 10-month follow-up study. Data were acquired from multiple sources, comprising paternal reports, maternal reports, and standardized tasks. Results revealed that the home learning environment positively predicted preschool-aged children's language and cognitive development. Interestingly, this association was significant among children with lower effortful control but not with higher effortful control. The findings supported the differential susceptibility model by showing that children with low effortful control benefited more from early experience when parents provided sufficient language and cognitive stimulation at home. These suggest that providing a high-quality home learning environment may be a feasible target for interventions aimed at improving the development of children with low effortful control. Why teaching innovation matters: Evidence from a pre- versus peri-COVID-19 pandemic comparison of student evaluation data.

The COVID-19 pandemic has robustly affected global education environments, so higher education institutions need to emphasize innovation and creativity in educational methods for teachers to improve their teaching performance as well as enhance the engagement and motivation of students in this changing environment. Accordingly, it is essential to discuss the role of teaching innovation in the setting of the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the pre-COVID-19 period. The aim of this study is to empirically validate the importance of teaching innovation in student evaluation of teaching before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data were collected from the medical college of a comprehensive university in Taiwan and were subjected to t-tests and multiple linear regression analysis. Findings from a quantitative study with 44 teachers revealed that teaching innovation was positively correlated to student evaluation of teaching. We also found that teachers who implemented teaching innovation strategies performed better than those teachers who used conventional teaching strategies on student evaluation of teaching. In particular, teaching innovative teachers had improvement in student evaluation of teaching during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, but not non-teaching innovative teachers. The evidence from this study suggests that teaching innovation can not only enhance teachers’ teaching development and performance but also boost students’ motivation for learning, especially in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our findings have important implications for future research on teaching innovation and for higher education institutions and faculty wishing to provide high-quality learning environments to their students.

Does Placement Predict Performance? Associations Between Student Teaching Environments and Candidates’ Performance Assessment Scores

In the present study, we examine whether characteristics of student teaching sites and cooperating teachers predict teacher candidates’ edTPA scores. Using data from North Carolina, we find that candidates earn higher edTPA scores if they student-taught in a high value-added school and with a cooperating teacher earning higher evaluation ratings. Evidence also suggests that candidates earn higher scores when they are mentored by a cooperating teacher who is more familiar with performance assessments. Finally, we find that the relationships between student teaching environments and edTPA scores vary by characteristics of the candidate. This study reinforces prior work on the importance of learning environments to teacher development and the importance of preparation programs securing placements in high-quality learning environments. Our results may also have implications for the use of performance assessments by states and preparation programs.

Factor Structure Analysis of Pharmacy Students’ Performance on the Health Education Learning Environment Survey

Objective. While high-quality learning environments are increasingly recognized as vital for health professions education programs and student success, no tools to assess such environments have been validated for use within the pharmacy education context. This study seeks to assess whether the six-factor structure of the Health Education Learning Environment Survey (HELES) will replicate in a sample of pharmacy students.Methods. The study was conducted in a Doctor of Pharmacy program offered at a Western Canadian university. Across two years of data collection, a sample of 288 pharmacy students completed the 35-item HELES as an anonymous and online survey.Results. While the six-factor model of the HELES did not replicate through confirmatory factor analysis, a follow-up examination of unidimensionality for the individual subscales of the HELES showed that five of the six subscales met this requirement. One subscale, the work-life balance subscale, was better represented by the dimensions of time management and emotional well-being.Conclusion. These results provide preliminary support for the use of the HELES among pharmacy students, with additional research being needed to explore the work-life balance subscale and its appropriateness for this student group. In Canada, the HELES has the potential to fill an existing local and national gap in program evaluation tools, which are needed to gather evidence on pharmacy programs' quality, strengths, and weaknesses and to inform continuous quality improvement efforts and accreditation standards.

SOME INSIGHT ON INFRASTRUCTURE AND RESOURCES FOR PRIVATE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN THE UK

No organisation performs best without good infrastructure and resources. The workplace can refer to the physical or the psychosocial work environment from the individual user and organisation's perspective, differing from one industry to another. This study focuses on the physical work environment from an architectural, interior design and performance perspective in a private higher education institution. Two factors characterise office work: the degree of interaction and the level of individual autonomy. Duffy created four types of offices: hive, cell den, and club based on this concept. Examples of such types of offices are provided within the higher education context. Office workers spend plenty of time inside buildings, where their physical environments directly impact their well-being and work performance and productivity. Buildings, classrooms, computer laboratories, and education infrastructure are crucial learning environments in higher education. There is strong evidence that high-quality infrastructure and resources (facilitates) improves student outcomes and reduce dropout rates, among other benefits. A high-quality teaching and learning environment and students' experience are dependent on classroom resources, libraries, computer labs, and equipment. Maintaining, adapting innovation, repairing existing infrastructure and facilities and investing in new structures and equipment all come with significant expenditures.
