Split ring hole metamaterial-enhanced pyroelectric detector for efficient multi-narrowband terahertz detection

Derived from infrared pyroelectric detection, typical terahertz (THz) pyroelectric detectors have low sensitivity at low-frequency THz bands. Based on the high-efficiency absorption of the metamaterial perfect absorber (MPA), a novel split ring hole metamaterial-enhanced pyroelectric detector is proposed to achieve efficient multi-narrowband THz detection. Using high frequency simulation software (HFSS), the dimensional parameters including ring radius, ring width, connection beam width, array period, and thickness, are optimized to enhance efficient multi-narrowband absorption. The as-optimized metamaterial-enhanced detectors are fabricated via micro-nano manufacturing technology. The voltage responsiveness and noise equivalent power of the metamaterial-enhanced detector are tested by THz focused optical path and compared with those of the typical pyroelectric detector and the simulated MPA absorptivity. The results indicate that the metamaterial-enhanced detector has a multi-narrowband detection capability at 0.245 THz, 0.295 THz, and 0.38 THz, which is close to the simulated MPA absorptivity. Compared to the typical pyroelectric detector, the split ring hole metamaterial-enhanced detector can simultaneously achieve thermal absorption, thermal conduction, and pyroelectricity in the same MPA structure, providing faster response speed above 100 Hz chopper frequency and two times higher detection sensitivity at multi-narrowband THz frequencies. This research can be used for THz sensing, absorption filtering, biological macromolecule detection, and other applications.

Design and simulation of a novel THz patch antenna for early detection of malignant neoplasms

This research presents a novel patch antenna prototype that operates in the THz range for early detection of malignant cancerous cells. The antenna has dimensions of 100 µm × 100 µm and achieves −27.3 dB return loss at an operating frequency of 2.34 THz. The proposed sensor is optimized for a polyimide substrate with a dielectric constant of 3.5 and thickness of 15.7 µm. The prototype’s sensitivity and performance are evaluated by simulating different malignant neoplasms using High-Frequency Simulation Software (HFSS) for five types of breast cancer cells. The results indicate that the variation in resonant frequency and the S21 parameter between malignant cells and healthy breast cells are the primary factors that determine the sensitivity of the prototype. The proposed patch antenna’s high sensitivity and low profile make it a promising solution for the early detection and prognosis of cancerous cells.

Design and Analysis of Fabric Antenna for Medical and Wireless Applications

This study aimed toward the wearability of the antenna by inspecting the probability of designing and fabricating a wearable microstrip antenna operating from 2 to 6 GHz, centered at 2.5 GHz and 5.3 GHz. The antenna is fabricated from jeans material with dielectric constant εr = 1.7 and a thickness of 1 mm. The proposed design is simulated on High-Frequency Simulation Software (HFSS) version 2015, followed by fabrication using a 50-µm copper film on a jeans substrate. Anritsu MS2038C VNA Master then tests the fabricated design. Also, specific absorption rate (SAR) values are computed for medical applications to account for tumor detection in human breast tissue.

Peak sidelobe level suppression via reconfigurable element pattern selection for beam scanning linear array antenna

Array antenna with reconfigurable elements can further suppress the peak sidelobe level (PSLL) by selecting reconfigurable element pattern (REP) combination according to the variation of the beam directions. However, the pattern selection for N array elements from K possible REPs is a typical non-deterministic polynomial-hard problem, resulting in the REP selection being intractable even with small N and K. To solve this REP selection problem effectively, this paper proposes an improved genetic algorithm to shrink the REP combinations that contain the suboptimal one. As a result, the proposed algorithm can adaptively select the best REP combination for different scanning beams by searching a relatively minor solution space. The alternating direction multiplier method is used to accelerate the computational speed of optimizing the array excitation. Array antennas with two-type REPs and three-type REPs, respectively, are simulated with high-frequency simulation software (HFSS) to validate the superiority of the proposed algorithm. Comparisons with the existing algorithms show that the proposed algorithm can select a superior REP combination to obtain 1 dB to 3 dB lower PSLL for different scanning beams.

Enhancing electromagnetic wave absorption performance through co-regulation of microstructure and spatial orientation of RE-Ni MOF

The enhancement of electromagnetic wave absorption performance hinges on the intricate evolution of morphology and topology within MOF-derived materials—an issue of paramount significance in the electromagnetic wave absorbing arena. Here, by skillfully modulating multi-dimensional micro-nano structures and orchestrating the asynchronous orientation of nano-sheets across micro–macro dimensions, a more intricate microstructure and magnetoelectric loss mechanism for MOF-based absorbers are cultivated. In tandem, advanced high-frequency simulation software is harnessed to dissect the material's magnetoelectric loss mechanism and substantiate its tangible Far-field microwave absorption capacity. Our study not only pioneers a novel exploration space within the realm of microwave-absorbing materials but also introduces an innovative paradigm, where multi-scaled orientation and microstructural co-regulation converge to enhance electromagnetic wave absorbing properties.

Analysis of the high-frequency characteristics of a sine waveguide

Based on the double-periodic characteristics of a sine waveguide, the dispersion equation, interaction impedance, and transmission losses of slow-wave structures are derived. The dispersion equation indicates that the waves propagating in the sine waveguide should belong to two mode types, which can exist independently rather than as “pseudo-modes.” The dispersion equation, interaction impedance, and transmission losses are obtained using a theoretical model. A 220 GHz traveling wave tube (TWT) is used as an illustrative example to verify the validity of the analytical model. The calculated results show that the dispersion curve is in good agreement with that given by the Ansys high-frequency simulation software over the entire frequency range and that the theoretical numerical calculation time is less than 2% of that of the Ansys software package. In addition, the results demonstrate that the interaction impedance of the symmetric φ0 + π mode is much higher than that of the asymmetric φ0 mode. Therefore, the symmetric φ0 + π mode should be used for propagation in sine waveguide traveling-wave tubes. Moreover, when the conductivity is set at 1.6 × 107 S/m, the loss of the sine waveguide is ∼1.15 dB/cm for 220 GHz. The equivalent conductivity of the metal can be used appropriately in the design of the mm-wave and the THz TWT.

Synthesis of a Multiband Microstrip Patch Antenna for 5G Wireless Communications

This paper presents a multiband microstrip patch antenna for future 5G Millimeter Wave (mm-wave) wireless technologies. The synthesized antenna is designed to be based on the genetic algorithm (GA) optimization tool in the high frequency simulation software (HFSS). The optimized dimensions of the engineered antenna are 24 × 24 × 0.203 mm3, comprising of a ground plane. The antenna design simulated results have been implemented via (HFSS) and microwave studio (CST) tools. The proposed antenna structure is engineered using Rogers RT-Duroid 4003 substrate as a dielectric medium. The Conformist rectangular and circular patches are modified to get multiband operation in the mm-wave band 25–32 besides 40–60 GHz frequency ranges. The input reflection coefficient (S11\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$${\\mathrm{S}}_{11}$$\\end{document}) simulation results were compared with the measurements to check the validity of the design. The fabricated antenna radiation efficiency and gain values are also measured over the desired bandwidths. The measured gain and radiation efficiency values reached up to 9.75 dBi, 0.85%, and 10.75 dBi, 0.84%, for both bandwidths, respectively.

Design of Compact Parallel-Connected Chained Function Filters

The design of compact parallel-connected chained function filters is presented in this paper. The proposed filters will offer reduced sensitivity to manufacturing tolerance within the specified bandwidth in comparison to conventional Chebyshev filters for C-band applications. A new filtering function according to a chained configuration is derived for fourth-order filters, and the synthesis procedures are presented. To demonstrate the feasibility of this approach, the circuit simulation based on parallel-connected topology is performed in an advanced design system, while the design and simulation of a fourth-order filter in dielectric technology are carried out in high-frequency simulation software. The prototype of fourth-order microstrip topology is fabricated using open-loop resonators. The overall circuit size of the filter is 2.5 cm × 4 cm. The achieved simulation and measured insertion/return loss are 0.409 dB/20 dB and 2.674 dB/18.074 dB, respectively. Extensive sensitivity analysis is conducted to prove the fabrication tolerance of the filter. The reduced sensitivity of the proposed filter to manufacturing tolerance is fully demonstrated using an open-loop microstrip technology, and its reliability is proven by theoretical analysis. The prototype results in this research are validated and agree with the theoretical results. In terms of implementation, this design technique will be a very useful mathematical tool for any filter design engineer.

Design of Microstrip Antennas Array for Wireless Applications by Using HFSS

The modern wireless communication desires high gain, wide bandwidth and minimal size antennas that are efficient to provide improved performance over a wide range of frequency spectrum. This requirement leads to the design of microstrip patch antenna. This paper presents the design of compact 1X2 microstrip patch antenna array which uses the corporate feed technique for excitation. The proposed antenna is designed on FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.4 and thickness 1.6mm. Dielectric constant and parameters like Return Loss, Gain and Radiation pattern are calculated using high frequency simulation software. The fabricated antennas results are to be compared with Simulation results. The antenna has been designed for the range 2.4 GHz. Rectangular and circular antennas design for Bluetooth applications

The most researched and examined aspect of the communication system is the wireless connection. Without learning how to operate and use different types of antennas, your knowledge is incomplete. Microstrip patch antenna research has advanced significantly in recent years. When compared to standard antennas, microstrip patch antennas provide additional advantages and opportunities. It is of low volume, light weight, low cost, low appearance, compact and easy to manufacture. This study investigates the differences between rectangular and circular patch antennas. For Bluetooth applications, the center frequency of 2.4 GHz was chosen as the optimal resonant frequency. On a flame retardant (FR-4) epoxy substrate, the antenna dielectric constant is 4.4. Above the ground the base rises 3.6 mm. For the simulation process, high frequency simulation software (HFSS 15) is used as the program design. Antennas 1×1, 1×2, and 1×4 are designed for both circular and rectangular antennas. A comparison was made for both types of antennas and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), return losses, gain, directivity and half power beam width (HPBW) were found, and the feature of the rectangular antenna was shown.

Non-Invasive Assessment of Lung Water Content Using Chest Patch RF Sensors: A Computer Study Using NIH Patients CT Scan Database and AI Classification Algorithms

Chronic heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), coronavirus disease (COVID), and kidney failure are leading causes of death in the U.S. and across the globe. The cornerstone for managing these diseases is assessing patients’ volume fluid status in lungs. Available methods for measuring fluid accumulation in lungs are either expensive and invasive, thus unsuitable for continuous monitoring, or inaccurate and unreliable. With the recent COVID-19 epidemic, the development of a non-invasive, affordable, and accurate method for assessing lung water content in patients became utmost priority for controlling these widespread respiratory related diseases. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for non-invasive assessment of lung water content in patients. The assessment includes quantitative baseline assessment of fluid accumulation in lungs (normal, moderate edema, edema), as well as continuous monitoring of changes in lung water content. The proposed method is based on using a pair of chest patch radio frequency (RF) sensors and measuring the scattering parameters (S-parameters) of a 915-MHz signal transmitted into the body. To conduct an extensive computational study and validate our results, we utilize a National Institute of Health (NIH) database of computerized tomography (CT) scans of lungs in a diverse population of patients. An automatic workflow is proposed to convert CT scan images to three-dimensional lung objects in High-Frequency Simulation Software and obtain the S-parameters of the lungs at different water levels. Then a personalized machine learning model is developed to assess lung water status based on patient attributes and S-parameter measurements. Decision trees are chosen as our models for the superior accuracy and interpretability. Important patient attributes are identified for lung water assessment. A “cluster-then-predict” approach is adopted, where we cluster the patients based on their ages and fat thickness and train a decision tree for each cluster, resulting in simpler and more interpretable decision trees with improved accuracy. The developed machine learning models achieve areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.719 and 0.756 for 115 male and 119 female patients, respectively. These results suggest that the proposed “Chest Patch” RF sensors and machine learning models present a promising approach for non-invasive monitoring of patients with respiratory diseases.

Design and optimization of pi-slotted dual-band rectangular microstrip patch antenna using surface response methodology for 5G applications

Modern wireless network antenna technologies are designed to meet the ever-increasing needs of emerging applications. Hence this paper investigates potential antenna impedance bandwidth performance enhancement techniques based on optimizing independent geometrical parameters of pi-shaped slotted dual-band rectangular microstrip patch antenna (DBRMSPA). The antenna considered in the optimization process is with a slotted patch which improves impedance bandwidth of the antenna. And independent factors are geometrical parameters that influence the antenna's impedance bandwidth (BW) and operating frequency (Fr). The factors are substrate height (Hs), patch length (L), and slot (s2) length (Ls), and the experiment is designed using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) suite 2019 to generate a dataset by varying these parameters in a specific range. Then based on the dataset, response surface methodology (RSM) is applied to develop mathematical models that relate the responses Fr and BW with independent variables. Using analysis of variance (ANOVA), the effects of varying independent factors on both responses and model validation were investigated. Then constrained numerical optimization is applied to determine optimum design parameters. The optimized parameters, substrate height, patch length, and slot (s2) length (Ls) are 0.648 mm, 3.048 mm, and 1.325 mm, respectively. The optimized dual-band antenna, designed with optimized parameters, achieved a target impedance bandwidth (≥4 GHz), 7.2 GHz and 4.17 GHz at 28 GHz and 38 GHz, respectively. Similarly, the antenna's radiation efficiency at 28 GHz and 38 GHz is 75.457% and 88.6237%, respectively. The proposed antenna also gives a gain of 6 dBi at 28 GHz and 4.15 dBi at 38 GHz. And VSWR is less than 2 throughout its impedance bandwidth. All of these results were generated using the CST EM solver and validated using the Ansys High Frequency Simulation Software (HFSS) with good agreement. As a result, the proposed potential performance enhancement techniques provide an antenna with a wide impedance bandwidth suitable for 5G mobile communication applications.

Four-Port Dual-Band Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Dielectric Resonator Antenna for Sub-6 GHz 5G Communication Applications.

A four-port dielectric resonator (DR)-based multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is presented for sub-6 GHz MIMO communication. The dielectric resonator was fed through aperture feeding to achieve dual-band resonance. The DRA has the operating modes of TE01δ and TE10δ at 3.3 GHz and 3.9 GHz, respectively. The engineered antenna has port isolation of higher than 20 dB at the target frequencies without the employment of an extra isolation mechanism. Full-wave high-frequency simulation software was employed for the simulation computation. The antenna has a peak gain of 5.8 dBi and 6.2 dBi, and an efficiency of 88.6% and 90.2% at 3.3 GHz and 3.9 GHz, respectively. The proposed resonator has good MIMO diversity parameters. The optimal envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is 0.01, channel capacity loss (CCL) is 0.1 bits/sec/Hz, and the total active reflection coefficient (TARC) is -22.46. The DRA elements are aligned orthogonally with adequate displacement for achieving polarization diversity and spatial diversity. The antenna delivers its applications in Sub-6 GHz 5G and WiMAX communications.

Impact of compact and novel 1-Bit coding based metamaterial design for microwave absorption applications

This work investigates compact 1-bit coding metamaterial for microwave absorption applications. The coding metamaterial act as a technologically advanced development that has been investigated widely in many application fields. The 1-bit coding metamaterial is composed of couples of unit cells, with 0 and π phase responses, which are known as ‘0′ and ‘1′ coding particles, respectively. By coding ‘0′ and ‘1′ elements with controlled sequences, the electromagnetic (EM) waves can be manipulated and realize different functionalities. Therefore, it has a high possibility to be applied for the microwave absorption application to optimize the outcomes by adopting a simple coding sequence construction method. All the simulation analyses were performed by utilizing well-known Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. Firstly, the unit cells of coding metamaterial design were analyzed by the phase response properties to identify the materials with 0 and 180° responses. Meanwhile, the phase response properties of the proposed design were validated by simulating in High-Frequency Simulation Software (HFSS). Once, the ‘0′ and ‘1′ elements are selected, the proposed elements were used to perform parametric studies such as, various coding sequences with a diverse number of lattices on absorption applications and as well the radar cross-section (RCS) properties. The monostatic and bistatic scattering patterns RCS of the proposed coding metamaterial based on the number of lattices were examined as well. Initially, the 4 lattices successfully manifest three absorption peak points with the highest values of 90.1 %. However, this result was optimized by slightly increasing the number of lattices. Thus, the 8 lattices coding metamaterial design exhibit the highest absorption value, for instance, 99.4 %. Meanwhile, the 12 lattices design successfully manifests 9 absorption peak points in the range between 15 and 22.35 GHz. Moreover, for the validation purpose, the absorption values of Coding Sequences 3 of 8 lattices coding metamaterial were performed by adopting HFSS software. In a nutshell, the miniaturization concept is possible and relatively produces optimized absorption values by utilizing smaller unit cell designs in the coding metamaterial concept.

A Symmetrical Terahertz Triple-Band Metamaterial Absorber Using a Four-Capacitance Loaded Complementary Circular Split Ring Resonator and an Ultra-Thin ZnSe Substrate

In this research work, a symmetrical four-capacitance loaded complementary circular split ring resonator is proposed, which uses an ultra-thin Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) substrate to realize a low-profile triple-band metamaterial (MTM) perfect absorber for application in the terahertz (THz) frequency range. The electromagnetic properties of the proposed structure were calculated and investigated using the Finite Integration Technique (FIT). The proposed structure exhibited three highly absorptive (nearly perfect) peaks at the resonance frequencies of 15.68 THz, 37.48 THz, and 39.55 THz. Furthermore, the absorber was found to be insensitive to the polarization and incident wave angles, due to its symmetrical design. The effects of the conductor type, substrate thickness, unit cell dimension, resonator gap, and substrate type on the reflection and absorption spectra were investigated. To validate the numerical results, the proposed design was analyzed using High-Frequency Simulation Software (HFSS) and Advanced Design System (ADS). The surface current, electric field, and magnetic field distributions at the three-resonance frequency were analyzed. It was concluded that the overall performance of the proposed MTM structure was superior compared to those reported in the literature. The proposed design could be a good candidate for application in stealth technology, imaging, and thermal energy harvesting.

Wearable Blood Pressure Sensing Based on Transmission Coefficient Scattering for Microstrip Patch Antennas.

Painless, cuffless and continuous blood pressure monitoring sensors provide a more dynamic measure of blood pressure for critical diagnosis or continuous monitoring of hypertensive patients compared to current cuff-based options. To this end, a novel flexible, wearable and miniaturized microstrip patch antenna topology is proposed to measure dynamic blood pressure (BP). The methodology was implemented on a simulated five-layer human tissue arm model created and designed in High-Frequency Simulation Software “HFSS”. The electrical properties of the five-layer human tissue were set at the frequency range (2–3) GHz to comply with clinical/engineering standards. The fabricated patch incorporated on a 0.4 mm epoxy substrate achieved consistency between the simulated and measured reflection coefficient results at flat and bent conditions over the frequency range of 2.3–2.6 GHz. Simulations for a 10 g average specific absorption rate (SAR) based on IEEE-Standard for a human arm at different input powers were also carried out. The safest input power was 50 mW with an acceptable SAR value of 3.89 W/Kg < 4W/Kg. This study also explored a novel method to obtain the pulse transit time (PTT) as an option to measure BP. Pulse transmit time is based on obtaining the time difference between the transmission coefficient scattering waveforms measured between the two pairs of metallic sensors underlying the assumption that brachial arterial geometries are dynamic. Consequently, the proposed model is validated by comparing it to the standard nonlinear Moens and Korteweg model over different artery thickness-radius ratios, showing excellent correlation between 0.76 ± 0.03 and 0.81 ± 0.03 with the systolic and diastolic BP results. The absolute risk of arterial blood pressure increased with the increase in brachial artery thickness-radius ratio. The results of both methods successfully demonstrate how the radius estimates, PTT and pulse wave velocity (PWV), along with electromagnetic (EM) antenna transmission propagation characteristics, can be used to estimate continuous BP non-invasively.

Effect of Symmetric Shaped Slot on Patch Antenna Design and Performance for 10 GHz 5G Applications

A microstrip patch antenna is considered the most suitable radiating and receiving element for millimeter-wave application due to its low cost, simple construction, low weight, and ease with which it is integrated into the circuits. In this paper, we have reported the effects of different symmetric shaped slots on millimeter-wave patch antenna design and its performance at 10 GHz frequency in the X band (8-12 GHZ). The rectangular, circular, and elliptical slots area is kept constant at 11.2 mm2. The radius of circular and spherical slots is the same. High-frequency simulation software (HFSS) simulation results in parameters like S11 (reflection coefficient), Y-parameter (driving point admittance), Radiation Pattern, 3D Polar plot and illustrate that the results are in good agreement with the desired value. A rectangular slot is found to achieve the target resonance frequency with a low voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) towards a ‘good match.’ Circular, spherical, and elliptical-shaped slots have high VSWR values, indicating a larger degree of mismatch. Surprisingly, results are obtained for the spherical-shaped slot, implying that the antenna will work at the target resonance frequency and has a Dual-Resonance. The proposed antenna design is suitable for 5G device applications in the X band.

Multislot Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna Design to Detect Breast Cancer

The most typical cancer among women is breast cancer. It has the highest rate of occurrence and death. Breast cancer has become the leading cause of death among women worldwide in recent years. To avoid significant effects, early detection of malignant tissue is the most crucial aspect. X-ray mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, and ultrasound scanning can all be used to detect cancer cells in the breast. Microwave imaging overcomes some of the disadvantages of these approaches. In this paper, we proposed a new design for a multislot rectangular microstrip patch antenna that can detect breast cancers in the required FCC range (3.1 GHz - 10.6 GHz). The antenna is made of FR4 epoxy, which has a dielectric permittivity of 4.4 and a loss tangent of 0.02. It is designed and simulated with high-frequency simulation software (HFSS). The results show that the proposed antenna is a good candidate for the detection of breast cancer.

A Ka-Band Antenna Array Based on Wide-Beamwidth Magnetoelectric Dipole

A wide-beamwidth magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna for millimeter-wave (mm-wave) phased array applications is proposed in this letter. The antenna is fed by a substrate integrated waveguide. The electric dipole is formed by two patches, while the magnetic dipole consists of two apertures between the two patches. A short strip is introduced to connect the two patches, which can improve the impedance matching performance. The impedance bandwidth with | <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">S</i> <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</sub> | < −10 dB for the antenna element is 19.9% (28.11–34.32 GHz), as shown in the simulated results. And its half-power beamwidth in the <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">xoz</i> plane and <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">yoz</i> plane is wider than 82.1° and 81.8° over the operating band. To test the scanning potential of the ME-dipole antenna, a 4 × 4 phased array is constructed in high-frequency simulation software. The simulated scanning range of the phased array is beyond −41°∼41° at two sampling frequencies. Besides, a 4 × 4 antenna array is designed, processed, and measured. The array demonstrates a −10 dB fractional bandwidth of 15.3% (27.7–32.3 GHz) with a peak gain of 17.79 dBi at 30.4 GHz. The proposed ME-dipole antenna demonstrates good potential for 5G mm-wave phased array applications.

Introduction/Aim: Wireless electromagnetic radiation from routers is an everyday occurrence in the life and work of modern man. They are widely used in many professional, public and domestic facilities, which means that people of all ages can be constantly exposed to electromagnetic radiation from these devices. The aim of this study was to determine the electric field strength, the magnetic field strength, and the electromagnetic exposure of students in different laboratories of the Secondary School "Nikola Tesla", depending on the type of routers installed in them, as well as to check some of the obtained results with the help of the appropriate software program of high-frequency (High-Frequency Simulation Software - HFFSS) for the simulation of electromagnetic radiation through different environments. Methods: Measurements of electric and magnetic field strength, as well as electromagnetic exposure, were carried out using the measuring instrument Spectran HF 60105, on four different types of routers installed in four laboratories of the Secondary School of Electrical Engineering "Nikola Tesla" in Niš. Measurements were realized on each router, through five horizontal and five vertical positions, with a distance of 45o in relation to the horizontal and normal axis of the router, and with spaces of 1 cm, which gives a total number of one thousand measurements. Results: The measured results obtained on four different routers that operated at a frequency of 2.4 GHz for the electric field strength (measured in millivolts per meter), magnetic field strength (measured in microampere per meter) and electromagnetic exposure (in microWatts per square centimeter) were below the limit values defined by standards. The achieved results were verified only for the router TL-WR841HP with the help of HFSS for the simulation of electromagnetic radiation through different environments. The result of the simulation check practically confirms the reliability of the measured results for TL-WR841HP router. Conclusion: Measuring and monitoring electromagnetic radiation is a very important task aimed at preserving and improving the quality of the working and living environment, as well as the quality of life and health of people and children. Software programs for the simulation of electromagnetic radiation can be used when it is not possible to carry out experimental measurements due to technical problems, hindered access to the device, danger of excessive radiation or some other reasons.
