Tilt control is necessary for high-power coherent beam combining systems with large array elements. A tilt noise extraction method based on 2D images has been developed, and the analysis of abnormal situations has been executed. The method achieves high accuracy solution of tilt after two-step operation of Fourier transform and fitting of interference fringes at the detecting module, and then feeds back the compensated amount to the controlling module to achieve tilt control. Monte Carlo simulation is used to solve the control accuracy of this method. The tilt residuals of the method were calculated at various intrinsic shears and data lengths. Results of the effect of the magnitude of the intrinsic shear and the amount of data on the tilt residuals verified the accuracy and stability of the method.
