A Review of theHercostomus ulrichiGroup (Diptera: Dolichopodidae) from China, with Descriptions of Two New Species

ABSTRACT Previously there were four known species in the Hercostomus ulrichi group all from China. In this paper, the species of the Hercostomus ulrichi group are reviewed. The following two species from China are described as new to science: Hercostomus baixionggouanus sp. nov. and Hercostomus pingwuensis sp. nov. A key to species of the group is provided.

A new species of Hercostomus Loew, 1857 (Diptera: Dolichopodidae) from Turkey

New species of Hercostomus Loew, 1857 (Dolichopodidae, Diptera) from Japan.

Six new species of the genus Hercostomus Loew, 1857, are described from Japan: Hercostomus acutiformis Negrobov, Kumazawa & Tago sp. nov., H. falcilis Negrobov, Kumazawa & Tago sp. nov., H. flavipalpus Negrobov, Kumazawa, Tago & Sato sp. nov., H. nigricollaris Negrobov, Kumazawa & Tago sp. nov., H. spathulatus Negrobov, Kumazawa, Tago & Sato sp. nov., H. spinitibialis Negrobov, Kumazawa & Tago sp. nov. Hercostomus flaveolus Negrobov & Chalaya, 1987 is newly recorded from Japan, and Hercostomus arcticus Yang, 1996 is newly synonymized with Hercostomus flaveolus (syn. nov.). The holotype of Hercostomus flaviventris Smirnov & Negrobov, 1979 is redescribed. Hercostomus ussurianus Stackelberg is transferred to the genus Gymnopternus Loew, 1857 (stat. nov.). A key to the eleven recognized species of Japanese Hercostomus is provided.

New species of Hercostomus baishanzuensis group from Tibet (Diptera: Dolichopodidae, Dolichopodinae).

Previously only ten species of Hercostomus Loew were known to occur in Tibet, of which only two belong to the H. baishanzuensis group. Here the following six species of the H. baishanzuensis group are described as new to science: Hercostomus bisetus sp. nov., H. deltodontus sp. nov., H. flavus sp. nov., H. galonglaensis sp. nov., H. nuciformis sp. nov. and H. pailongensis sp. nov. A key to the species of the H. baishanzuensis group from Tibet is provided.

Two species of Hercostomus absimilis group are described as new to science: Hercostomus gongshanensis sp. nov. and H. mengyangensis sp. nov. A key to the species of the absimilis-group from China is given.

Species of the Hercostomus fatuus-group from China (Diptera: Dolichopodidae)

Abstract The Hercostomus fatuus-group is established. A species Hercostomus dayaoshanensis n. sp. is described as new to science.
