OPTIMALISASI PENGELOLAAN WAKAF PRODUKTIF MELALUI PELATIHAN MANAJEMEN WAKAF BAGI NAZHIR MASJID ALAUDDIN DI DESA LAMIDUR

Abstract This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of the Badan Kemakmuran Masjid (BKM) administrators in managing productive waqf in Lamidur Village, Simalungun Regency. The training was conducted on September 16, 2024, using a participatory approach that included socialization, counseling, and hands-on practice. Evaluation results indicated that participants experienced a significant increase in understanding of waqf concepts and management, with a satisfaction rate of 90%. Participants demonstrated enthusiasm during the Q&A sessions and successfully developed realistic management plans for waqf assets oriented toward local economic empowerment. This activity is expected to improve community welfare through more effective waqf management. Follow-up monitoring will be conducted to ensure the application of knowledge gained in waqf management in the future.

Training on Optimizing Digital Marketing to Improve Marketing for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Mantrijeron District, Yogyakarta

The training activity aimed to provide knowledge and skills on implementing digital marketing. Conducted on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in Mantrijeron District, the training included 40 participants consisting of local MSME actors. The event utilized a combination of lectures and hands-on practice. It began with an opening and introduction to digital marketing, followed by a presentation on the concept of digital marketing, discussions on common challenges faced by MSMEs, explanations of foreign terms related to digital marketing, and concluded with a practical session. As a result, participants acquired valuable insights into digital marketing, and many expressed a desire for assistance with business capital to support their growth in the region.

Development Of Student Entrepreneurship Skills Through The Independent Entrepreneurship Program At Gadjah Mada University 2023

Entrepreneurship plays an important role in driving economic growth and creating new jobs. Therefore, the development of entrepreneurial skills among students is very important. This study aims to analyze the development of student entrepreneurship skills through the Wirausaha Merdeka program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in 2023. The Wirausaha Merdeka program is a national program that aims to create resilient and financially independent young entrepreneurs. This research uses a qualitative approach method. Data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with students participating in the Wirausaha Merdeka program at UGM. The results showed that this program has successfully developed various entrepreneurial skills of students, such as managerial, marketing, financial, leadership, and communication skills. Through a series of training, mentoring, and hands-on practice in building a business, students can apply the knowledge gained in real terms. The positive impact of this program can be seen from the increase in students' interest and motivation for entrepreneurship, as well as the emergence of new innovative business ideas. However, there are also challenges such as lack of initial capital and difficulties in reaching a wider market. This research contributes to providing insight into the role of the Wirausaha Merdeka program in developing students' entrepreneurial skills and provides recommendations for future program improvements.

Effects of an Interactive Handwashing Lecture on First-Year Thai Nursing Students: A Pretest-Posttest Study

Background: Hand hygiene is essential in healthcare to prevent infections and ensure patient safety. The World Health Organization highlights hand hygiene as a key measure to reduce healthcare-associated infections. However, adherence to hand hygiene protocols is often inadequate, with a low compliance rate. First-year nursing students are at a critical stage in developing foundational practices. Traditional teaching methods have shown limited success in achieving long-term adherence, necessitating the need for more interactive and engaging teaching methods. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effects of an interactive lecture on the handwashing knowledge of first-year nursing students. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 60 first-year Thai nursing students at Boromarajjonani College of Nursing. After four weeks of interactive lectures, participants completed a pretest and posttest to assess changes in hand hygiene knowledge and understanding of WHO Five Moments for Hand Hygiene. The intervention included visual demonstrations, hands-on practice, and real-time feedback. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests to determine the intervention’s effectiveness. Results: The study showed significant improvements in both handwashing knowledge and understanding of WHO Five Moments for Hand Hygiene post-intervention. The mean score for handwashing knowledge increased from 5.41 (SD = 1.06) to 6.62 (SD = 1.10) (t(59) = 7.154, p < 0.001). Similarly, the mean score for understanding WHO Five Moments for Hand Hygiene improved from 4.32 (SD = 0.68) to 4.97 (SD = 0.84) (t(59) = 5.60, p < 0.001). Correct responses to specific handwashing questions also increased significantly. Conclusions: The interactive handwashing lecture intervention significantly improved nursing students’ knowledge and understanding of hand hygiene practices. These findings support the integration of interactive educational strategies in nursing curricula to improve hand hygiene compliance and patient safety. Future research should address study limitations, such as sample size and long-term knowledge retention, to further validate these results.

PELATIHAN MEMBUAT LILIN AROMATERAPI DENGAN MEMANFAATKAN LIMBAH MINYAK GORENG

This program aims to introduce an efficient way to manage cooking oil waste in Karangmulya Village through interviews, observations, training, and hands-on practice to housewives. The subjects of this program are housewives of Karangmulya Village who will manage the cooking oil waste by producing aromatherapy candle products. The main objective is to optimize the management of cooking oil waste and produce quality products. This program takes the main raw material of cooking oil available in every home, with the aim of introducing innovative ways to turn it into value-added aromatherapy candles. The implementation method applies socialization and hands-on training in making aromatherapy candles. The results of the service are a better understanding of the right and effective way to utilize cooking oil waste for making aromatherapy candles, so that the participants of the activity can turn household waste into a potential source in creating value-added products and reducing the impact of environmental pollution.

Pelatihan Pipe Welder Kepada Karyawan PT. Perintis Makmur Indonesia Dengan Metode Pengelasan Shielded Metal Arc Welding

PT. Perintis Makmur Indonesia (PMKI) is a smelting company that plays an important role in workforce absorption in the Morowali area. In particular, the mechanical department, consisting of 18 employees, requires an upgrade in pipe welding skills using the SMAW welding method. This is due to the fact that the mechanics are currently only capable of performing plate-to-plate welding, whereas they are required to have pipe-to-pipe welding skills to support their work. To enhance its employees' competencies, particularly in pipe welding, PT PMKI collaborated with the Morowali Metal Industry Polytechnic to organize a Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) training program for its employees. The primary goal of this training was to improve the employees' skills in performing pipe welding safely and efficiently. The training methods included lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice in the workshop, along with evaluations through pre-tests and post-tests. A total of 18 mechanics participated in this five-day training. The materials covered welding safety, SMAW techniques, and defect handling in welding. The results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding and skills. The initial understanding level, as measured by the pre-test, was only 19.8%. After the training, participants' understanding increased to 93.2%, as indicated by the post-test results. This training successfully improved the employees' pipe welding competencies, which are crucial for supporting the company’s operations.

Gamification Powered by a Large Language Model to Enhance Flipped Classroom Learning in Undergraduate Computer Science

The flipped classroom in computer science has become a popular pedagogy where students complete preparatory reading and videos before class, leaving class time for hands-on practice. In theory, students come to class predisposed with knowledge to complete programming tasks, quizzes, and homework assignments. However, if students do not complete or do not fully understand the preparatory material, those students will not be equipped for class and may also be embarrassed to ask questions during class. In this study, we created a gamified quiz that is powered by a Large Language Model (LLM) that loads in questions from the flipped content transcripts. The game offers students a fun assessment after completing the flipped content that will both motivate them and prepare them for class. The game also provides an anonymous way for students to ask questions as they progress through the game content. Those questions can then be analysed by the instructor and reviewed in class. The study compares in-class quiz scores of a control group versus a group that had access to the gamified quiz in an undergraduate software engineering course over three consecutive course modules. The results obtained from both quantitative and qualitative data are promising, showing an increase in student in-class quiz scores along with positive student engagement with the gamified quiz. Students also reported that the game made them more comfortable with asking questions. Future work would extend this research to more students and over a longer period. The LLM and gamification also have much potential, where games can be created dynamically and be customized and personalized for each student's needs. This work shows an exciting gap in research that could lead to gamified experiences for students in the flipped model that are both relevant and personalized with the use of a LLM, offering the students the greatest chance for success.

THE TRAINING OF TEMPERATURE MONITORING SYSTEM WITH LM35 SENSOR BASED ON RESBEERY PI

Abstract. This community service activity aims to train the community on developing and implementing a temperature monitoring system using the LM35 sensor integrated with Raspberry Pi. This training was carried out to improve people's understanding and skills, especially in utilizing microcontroller-based technology and IoT (Internet of Things) in daily life, especially in the field of room temperature or environmental monitoring. This activity involves targets, for example, teachers, students, and technicians, at SMA AL-IRSYAD TEGAL, with training methods that include basic theories about temperature sensors, introduction to Raspberry Pi, and hands-on practice in assembling and programming temperature monitoring systems. The results of this training showed that participants could understand the basic concepts of temperature monitoring systems and could apply the knowledge gained in making simple devices that can measure and display temperature in real time. The activity evaluation showed that most of the participants felt helped by this training and showed high interest in further developing the system that had been studied. In the future, it is hoped that similar activities can continue to be carried out to empower the community to utilize technology for daily needs. Relationship between Theoretical Knowledge and Application Abilities of Science Teachers in Assessment Practices at School Level

The objective was to test the hypothesis that there is no relationship between theoretical knowledge and its practical application in assessment practices used by science teachers in the classroom and in general at the school level. The nature of the study was quantitative with descriptive correlational and linear regression design. The sample was randomly taken for the survey questionnaire from the Principals of high and higher secondary schools in two districts of Pakistan. The result revealed that there is a strong positive relationship between theoretical knowledge and its practical application in assessment used by science teachers at the secondary level. The regression analysis also showed that the theoretical understanding of assessment has a strong impact on the hands-on practices of the assessment. It was recommended that the science teachers' training focus on both theoretical concepts and learning along with the practical application of the assessment practices for effective and quality instructions or pedagogy.

Implementation of a Urologic Surgery Skills Fair for Medical Students

To increase the proportion of applicants to urology residencies, we created a surgical skills fair to introduced urology early in undergraduate medical education. Funded by the Department of Urology, the fair was designed to have student rotations through 12 hands-on practice stations supervised by faculty and an advanced care practitioner or resident physicians. At conclusion, medical students completed a voluntary survey about their experience. Surgical skills fairs were organized at Yale School of Medicine (New Haven, CT) in 2022 and 2023. The fair was designed to encourage interaction between medical students, urology residents, and urology faculty by highlighting common urologic procedures and skills. The fair was well received by medical students at all levels of training. Over 2 years, 155 medical students attended, including 67 (43%) first-year and 60 (39%) second-year medical students. Eighty-two medical students completed the survey. An average of 19 attendings, advanced care practitioners and residents attended each event. Of the survey respondents, 42.7% reported prior interest in a surgical specialty but had not considered urology. Students reported increased interest in urology and greater confidence in urologic skills after the event (p < 0.001). We demonstrate that creating a surgical fair in urology is feasible and enhances early exposure and interest in urology. For students who do not pursue urology, the fair provides knowledge of urological pathologies and valuable skills for all physicians.

Impact of renality-CASE training on knowledge, skills, and practices in peritoneal dialysis catheter placement among nephrologists.

Despite being an effective home-based kidney replacement therapy, peritoneal dialysis (PD) remains underutilized. The aim of the Renality-CASE training program was to assess its impact on nephrologists by expanding their knowledge of PD therapy and enhancing their catheter placement skills to better offer the PD option. The Renality-CASE program provided two days of training, including theoretical lectures, virtual reality sessions, and hands-on practice of PD catheter placement on live pigs. Eighty-eight participants attended four sessions. An anonymized online questionnaire collected demographic data, self-assessments of knowledge and skills, and feedback. Pre- and post-training comparisons were analyzed using paired samples t-tests and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, with significance at p < 0.05. Fifty-seven out of 88 participants responded to the survey one-year post-training. Post-training, 94.7% felt at least moderately knowledgeable compared to 61.4% pre-training (p < 0.001). Confidence in skills increased to 73.6% post-training from 26% pre-training (p < 0.001). The number of PD catheters placed by participants also rose significantly (p = 0.012). The program received positive feedback and high satisfaction rates. The Renality-CASE program significantly improved nephrologists' PD catheter placement skills through comprehensive training. Despite limitations such as sample size and response bias, the study highlights the need for standardized PD training to enhance clinical practice and increase PD utilization in CKD management.

Building Student Competencies through Socialization of Digital Transformation and HR Development in the Age of Technology

This community service aims to build student competencies in facing the challenges of digital transformation and human resource development (HR) in the technological era. This activity is carried out through socialization and training that aims to increase students' understanding of the importance of digital literacy, technology skills, and the development of soft skills needed in the modern world of work. The methods used include counseling, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice on various aspects of digital transformation, such as the use of digital platforms, data management, and character and competency development relevant to current industry needs. The results of this activity show that the socialization and training provided can increase students' knowledge and awareness of digital transformation and the importance of developing adaptive and innovative human resources. Thus, this activity is expected to help students prepare to compete in the technological era and become a competent workforce ready to face change.

Exploring the Use of Virtual Reality in Vocational Training for Electricians in Egypt

The integration of Virtual Reality (VR) into vocational training programs presents a transformative opportunity to address the challenges faced by electrician education in Egypt. Current training methods often suffer from limited access to advanced tools and equipment, along with significant safety risks during hands-on practice with electrical systems. VR provides an innovative solution by creating immersive, interactive simulations of real-world electrical tasks, allowing students to develop practical skills in a risk-free environment. This paper explores the implementation of VR in electrician training, discussing the potential benefits, including enhanced hands-on learning, increased engagement, and the ability to overcome resource limitations. Additionally, it examines the logistical requirements for successful integration, such as the need for partnerships, infrastructure development, and teacher training. The study concludes by assessing the future prospects of VR in vocational education and its potential for scalability across other trades in Egypt, despite challenges related to cost and accessibility.

Student Ultrasound Education, Current Views and Controversies; Who Should be Teaching?

Acquiring diagnostic ultrasound competencies and skills is crucial in modern health care, and achieving the practical experience is vital in developing the necessary anatomy interpretation and scan acquisition skills. However, traditional teaching methods may not be sufficient to provide hands-on practice, which is essential for this skill acquisition. This paper explores various modalities and instructors involved in ultrasound education to identify the most effective approaches. The field of ultrasound instruction is enriched by the diverse roles of physicians, anatomists, peer tutors, and sonographers. All these healthcare professionals can inspire and empower the next generation of ultrasound practitioners with continuous training and support. Physicians bring their clinical expertise to the table, while anatomists enhance the understanding of anatomical knowledge through ultrasound integration. Peer tutors, often medical students, provide a layer of social congruence and motivation to the learning process. Sonographers provide intensive practical experience and structured learning plans to students. By combining different instructors and teaching methods, success can be achieved in ultrasound education. An ultrasound curriculum organized by experts in the field can lead to more efficient use of resources and better learning outcomes. Empowering students through peer-assisted learning can also ease the burden on faculty. Every instructor must receive comprehensive didactic training to ensure high-quality education in diagnostic ultrasound.

Pelatihan Pembuatan Kaligrafi Sistem Totol Spons di Pesantren Modern Nuur Ar-Radhiyyah

Calligraphy plays a very important role in the development of Islamic civilization. In the current era of globalization, young people are exposed to a variety of knowledge, cultures, perspectives, and ethics that influence changes within them. This training was conducted with the aim of introducing the art of calligraphy to the students (santri), which they can develop as part of their future careers. The training activities were carried out by members of the field experience practice team, who are students of the Islamic College (Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam) Jam'iyah Mahmudiyah Tanjung Pura. The activity included planning, implementation, and evaluation. The methods used in this training were lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. The results of this community service activity showed that: (1) The planning stage included initial observation, needs analysis, participant recruitment, and scheduling; (2) The training consisted of a one-time session using lectures, demonstrations, and writing practice; and (3) Evaluation was conducted during the training process, at the end of each session, and at the conclusion of the overall training. The dotted sponge calligraphy training left a unique impression and challenge for the students, fostering enthusiasm. It also brought about positive outcomes, such as helping students to develop calmness and concentration.

Impact of Basic Life Support Training on Knowledge and Performance Among Rural Intermediate Students: A Quasi-Experimental Study

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Basic Life Support (BLS) training on the knowledge and performance of intermediate students from a rural area. Methodology: A quasi-experimental study with pretest, posttest, and follow-up phases was conducted at a private sector high school. Non-probability purposive sampling was used to select participants, consisting of 11th and 12th-grade students with low to moderate levels of BLS knowledge, as assessed by a structured questionnaire. The BLS training, lasting three hours, included a PowerPoint presentation and hands-on practice. Data were collected from 80 participants at three stages: pre-test, post-test, and a follow-up test three months after the intervention. Participant performance was evaluated using the American Heart Association checklist. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 25, with Friedman’s ANOVA applied for inferential statistics. Results: Initially, 95% of participants had a low level of BLS knowledge, with a median score of 3. Post-intervention, knowledge significantly improved, with a median score of 6.5 and 37.5% of participants achieving a high level of knowledge, while 30% reached a moderate level (p-value &lt;0.0001). However, knowledge retention declined after three months, with a median score of 4.0 (p-value &lt;0.0001). Previous knowledge of CPR was significantly associated with improved post-intervention knowledge scores (p-value = 0.03). Conclusion: The BLS training significantly enhanced participants' knowledge and performance. Nonetheless, there was a notable decline in knowledge retention over time.

Training to Develop Science Process Skills of Students of SMA 6 Padang Pelawi, Seluma Regency Through Physics Ethnoscience Learning

This community service project focuses on enhancing students' Science Process Skills (SPS) through the implementation of ethnoscience-based physics learning. The activity was conducted on August 1, 2024, at SMA Negeri 6 Padang Pelawi, Seluma Regency. The method of implementation included presentations, discussions, and hands-on practice with students. After applying the ethnoscience-based learning concept, there was a noticeable improvement in students' science process skills, both in observation and experimentation. Additionally, the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) models was evident in improving students' science process skills through collaboration and problem-solving. Ethnoscience-based learning not only enhanced science process skills but also deepened students' appreciation of local culture. Through ethnoscience learning training at SMA Negeri 6 Padang Pelawi, Seluma Regency, it is hoped that the learning process can leverage local cultural diversity. This approach not only develops students' scientific skills but also strengthens the connection between physics concepts and local wisdom. This culturally-based learning provides relevant context, deepens students' understanding, and makes the learning process more meaningful.

Good modelling software practices

Frequently in socio-environmental sciences, models are used as tools to represent, understand, project and predict the behaviour of these complex systems. Along the modelling chain, Good Modelling Practices have been evolving that ensure — amongst others — that models are transparent and their results replicable. Whenever such models are represented in software, Good Modelling meet Good Software Practices, such as a tractable development workflow, good code, collaborative development and governance, continuous integration and deployment; and they meet Good Scientific Practices, such as attribution of copyrights and acknowledgement of intellectual property, publication of a software paper and archiving. Too often in existing socio-environmental model software, these practices have been regarded as an add-on to be considered at a later stage only; modellers have shied away from publishing their model as open source out of fear that having to add good practices is too demanding. We here argue for making a habit of following a list of simple and not so simple practices early on in the implementation of the model life cycle. We contextualise cherry-picked and hands-on practices for supporting Good Modelling Practice, and we demonstrate their application in the example context of the Viable North Sea fisheries socio-ecological systems model.

Rhinoplasty Training: An Innovative Learning Approach Using Chicken Breast.

Mastering rhinoplasty surgical techniques requires extensive learning involving theoretical studies, internships, cadaver laboratories, simulators, nonhuman models, and hands-on practice. A novel method using chicken breast simplifies skill development, offering flexibility and accessibility. Training on chicken breast allows surgeons to refine skills through various techniques and grafts. This study focuses on preservation techniques using chicken as a model. Surgical sequences simulate nasal structures using prepared chicken breasts. Documentation through media illustrates procedures from basic to advanced, using materials akin to traditional rhinoplasty but in reduced quantities. Chicken breast tissue, especially sternal cartilage, offers a suitable substrate for practicing techniques and grafting without live human or cadaveric tissue. This method provides an efficient, safe, and cost-effective approach to learning rhinoplasty.

Sosialisasi Materi Public Speaking untuk Pengurus OSIS di SMP Negeri 2 Sangatta Utara

Community Service (PkM) activities through socialization of public speaking materials for student council administrators at SMP Negeri 2 Sangatta Utara aims to improve the verbal communication skills and self-confidence of the participants. This training includes the provision of material on basic public speaking techniques, the use of body language, and emotional control, which is carried out through presentations, discussions, and question and answer sessions. The results of this activity showed an increase in understanding and public speaking skills among participants, which was reflected in their enthusiasm in following each stage of the activity. In addition, this socialization also provided an opportunity for participants to hone their leadership skills and communicate effectively in the school environment. Recommendations for future activities include organizing more interactive training with hands-on practice, in order to achieve more optimal results. Thus, this activity is expected to be an inspiration for similar PkM programs in the future, which aim to develop important skills for the younger generation.)
