Objectives This study investigated how the variables parents' perception of character education(importance, interest), parents' character education capabilities(readiness, degree of education attendance, degree of understanding of character education concept), parents' internal variables(Self-esteem, self-efficacy, emotional value of children) affect the implementation of character education at home. Methods After surveying 403 parents; at care-giving centers and kindergartens in the gyeonggi-do area, prequency analysis, technical statistics, pearson correlation and multiple-regression analysis were conducted with the SPSS 18.0 program. Results The variables of parents' perception of character education(importance, interest), parents' character education capabilities(readiness, degree of education attendance, degree of understanding of character education concept), parents' internal variables(Self-esteem, self-efficacy, emotional value of children) were found to have a significant statics correlation with the implementation of character education at home. The respecting explanatory power was observed of parents' character education capabilities(readiness, degree of understanding of character education concept), parents' perception of character education(interest), parents' internal variables(emotional value of children). Conclusions The results of this study suggest that in order to implement character education at home, not only parents' awareness of character education for infants and toddlers, but also parents' preparation and effort to implement character education, and internal variables such as positive views of the value of their children are very important.
