Effective Christian Counseling for Secondary School Students with Low-Academic Status: A Case for Integration of Biblical Counseling and Psychology

In Nigeria, the need for guidance and counseling in schools has been recognized. There is great need for a clear rationale and guidelines for guidance and counseling programs, and also the Guidance counselors (Chike- Okoli, et al 2018). Over the years several researches have been carried out to establish the need for counselors and their services. However, there exists a dearth of empirical studies on the effective strategies to increase impact of guidance counseling services on academic achievement of students. The main aim of this research work was to examine the perception of church and school-based counselors in integrating Biblical counseling and psychology for effective counselling of students with low academic performance status in Public Senior Secondary schools in Niger State of Nigeria. A population was studied and the acquired data collected. Data was analyzed using frequency and simple percentages. The people that participated in the survey all believe that any counseling that is not built upon a solid biblical theology has no authority. Majority of them stand with the integrated view of counseling. They strongly believe that the counselor has the ability to put together the truths of psychology and the bible in a harmonious way. Findings reveal that students with low academic status could be motivated to perform better using effective counseling strategies that integrate biblical principles and psychology. The debate for integrating Biblical Counseling and Psychology is on- going.

Environmental monitoring system based on an Open Source Platform and the Internet of Things for a building energy retrofit

Abstract This paper deals with the design and development of a low cost building environmental monitoring system, and it is based on Open Source Platforms and on the Internet of Things. To achieve this aim, a wireless microcontroller with attached sensors has been used to collect the environmental data. The information obtained from the sensors is collected and stored in a flash memory card, and simultaneously is sent via WiFi to the cloud. This data is stored in an online spreadsheet, which permits us to access the information in real time. On the other hand, a comparative analysis of the results obtained from sensors has been carried out, thanks to which several guidance guidelines have been developed for the selection of the most appropriate environmental sensor for each project. Finally, an additional evaluation of the device has been carried out through the analysis of its energy performance and providing information related to the data storage and its cost of development. The current research shows a clear ability to develop monitoring systems for the building sector, which can also be extended to multiple applications of Smart Environments. The development of projects through these platforms will allow future research to tackle the existing barriers in monitoring campaigns.

The problems are examined in this research derived from the preliminary observations which showed that the application of PHBS in Public Elementary School Banjarsari 02 sub-district Gabus district Pati do not meet the requirements as stipulated in the national policy promoting the health to support efforts to improve the healthy behavior based on minister of health No. 2269 / MENKES / PER / XI / 2011 “guidelines for guidance about clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS)”. The aim of this research is to find out the relationship between knowledge, attitude, and the availability of facilities in school by the application of PHBS disposing of garbage on exactly.A kind of this research explanatory research with the approach of cross-sectional. Population in this research is of public elementary school students Banjarsari 02 sub-district Gabus district Pati 2012. Samples were 46 students. An instrument used namely a questionnaire. Analysis of data done in univariat and bivariat ( fisher ).The results of this research is relationship between knowledge ( p = 0,037), attitude (p = 0,007), the availability of facilities in school ( p = 0,002 ) by the application of PHBS disposing of garbage in place. The advice given to public elementary school Banjarsari 02 sub-district Gabus district Pati, should be given counseling about PHBS. Provides a facility that are amenable to the students to want to apply PHBS disposing of garbage in place. For health department, the county of Pati program should monitor PHBS particularly in the order school.
