Next-generation sequencing became an indispensable diagnostic tool for diagnosis and treatment guidance in current clinical practice. Nowadays, tissue analysis benefits from further support through methods like comprehensive genomic profiling and liquid biopsies. However, precision medicine in the field of oncology presents specific hurdles, such as the cost-benefit balance and widespread accessibility, particularly in countries with low- and middle-income. A key issue is how to effectively extend next-generation sequencing to all cancer patients, thus empowering treatment decision-making. Concerns also extend to the quality and preservation of tissue samples, as well as the evaluation of health technologies. Moreover, as technology advances, novel next-generation sequencing assessments are being developed, including the study of Fragmentomics. Therefore, our objective was to delineate the primary uses of next-generation sequencing, discussing its’ applications, limitations, and prospective paths forward in Oncology.

Nomogram to Predict Tube Occlusion During Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy for Pseudomyxoma Peritonei.

To investigate the factors contributing to the blockage of perfusion tubes during hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in patients with appendiceal pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) undergoing combined cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy treatment, and to construct a nomogram for predicting the risk of tube occlusion. Observational study. Place and Duration of the Study: Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Central Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University, Jinan, China, from June 2017 to December 2023. Tube occlusion was defined as the inability to achieve 30 minutes of continuous unobstructed perfusion. Statistical methods such as univariate analysis, multivariate analysis, and Lasso regression were employed for data analysis. The results revealed that 27% of the 383 hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy perfusion treatments resulted in the tube occlusion events. Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified age, CA-125, CA19-9, and pathological type as the independent risk factors. A nomogram predicting the tube occlusion was constructed and validated for its predictive accuracy and clinical utility. This study successfully developed a nomogram to predict the tube occlusion risk during cytoreductive surgery combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy treatment for patients with pseudomyxoma peritonei, providing valuable guidance for clinical practice and aiding in personalised treatment decisions to improve patient prognosis. However, further research is needed to validate the reliability and clinical applicability of the model, as well as to investigate the impact of tube occlusion on treatment outcomes and corresponding management strategies. Comparative analysis of the short and medium-term efficacy of the Da Vinci robot versus laparoscopic total mesangectomy for rectal cancer.

The Da Vinci robot-assisted surgery technique has been widely used in laparoscopic mesangectomy for rectal cancer. However, the short-term efficacy of these procedures compared to traditional laparoscopic surgery remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the short- and medium-term efficacy of Da Vinci robot and laparoscopic surgery in total mesangectomy (TME) for rectal cancer, so as to provide guidance and reference for clinical practice. To investigate the safety and long-term efficacy of robotic and laparoscopic total mesorectal resection for the treatment of rectal cancer. The clinicopathologic data of 240 patients who underwent TME for rectal cancer in the Anorectal Department of People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from August 2018 to March 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 112 patients underwent laparoscopic TME (L-TME) group, and 128 patients underwent robotic TME (R-TME) group. The intraoperative, postoperative, and follow-up conditions of the two groups were compared. The conversion rate of the L-TME group was greater than that of the R-TME group (5.4% vs 0.8%, χ 2 = 4.417, P = 0.036). The complication rate of the L-TME group was greater than that of the R-TME group (32.1% vs 17.2%, χ 2 = 7.290, P = 0.007). The percentage of positive annular margins in the L-TME group was greater than that in the R-TME group (7.1% vs 1.6%, χ 2 = 4.658, P = 0.031). The 3-year disease-free survival (DFS) rate and overall survival (OS) rate of the L-TME group were lower than those of the R-TME group (74.1% vs 85.2%, χ 2 = 4.962, P = 0.026; 81.3% vs 91.4%, χ 2 = 5.494, P = 0.019); in patients with American Joint Committee on Cancer stage III DFS rate and OS rate in the L-TME group were significantly lower than those in the R-TME group (52.5% vs 76.1%, χ 2 = 5.799, P = 0.016; 65.0% vs 84.8%, χ 2 = 4.787, P = 0.029). Compared with the L-TME group, the R-TME group had a better tumor prognosis and was more favorable for patients with rectal cancer, especially for patients with stage III rectal cancer.

Application value of indocyanine green fluorescence imaging in guiding sentinel lymph node biopsy diagnosis of gastric cancer: Meta-analysis.

Gastric cancer is a common malignant tumor of the digestive system worldwide, and its early diagnosis is crucial to improve the survival rate of patients. Indocyanine green fluorescence imaging (ICG-FI), as a new imaging technology, has shown potential application prospects in oncology surgery. The meta-analysis to study the application value of ICG-FI in the diagnosis of gastric cancer sentinel lymph node biopsy is helpful to comprehensively evaluate the clinical effect of this technology and provide more reliable guidance for clinical practice. To assess the diagnostic efficacy of optical imaging in conjunction with indocyanine green (ICG)-guided sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy for gastric cancer. Electronic databases such as PubMed, Embase, Medline, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library were searched for prospective diagnostic tests of optical imaging combined with ICG-guided SLN biopsy. Stata 12.0 software was used for analysis by combining the "bivariable mixed effect model" with the "midas" command. The true positive value, false positive value, false negative value, true negative value, and other information from the included literature were extracted. A literature quality assessment map was drawn to describe the overall quality of the included literature. A forest plot was used for heterogeneity analysis, and P < 0.01 was considered to indicate statistical significance. A funnel plot was used to assess publication bias, and P < 0.1 was considered to indicate statistical significance. The summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve was used to calculate the area under the curve (AUC) to determine the diagnostic accuracy. If there was interstudy heterogeneity (I 2 > 50%), meta-regression analysis and subgroup analysis were performed. Optical imaging involves two methods: Near-infrared (NIR) imaging and fluorescence imaging. A combination of optical imaging and ICG-guided SLN biopsy was useful for diagnosis. The positive likelihood ratio was 30.39 (95%CI: 0.92-1.00), the sensitivity was 0.95 (95%CI: 0.82-0.99), and the specificity was 1.00 (95%CI: 0.92-1.00). The negative likelihood ratio was 0.05 (95%CI: 0.01-0.20), the diagnostic odds ratio was 225.54 (95%CI: 88.81-572.77), and the SROC AUC was 1.00 (95%CI: The crucial values were sensitivity = 0.95 (95%CI: 0.82-0.99) and specificity = 1.00 (95%CI: 0.92-1.00). The Deeks method revealed that the "diagnostic odds ratio" funnel plot of SLN biopsy for gastric cancer was significantly asymmetrical (P = 0.01), suggesting significant publication bias. Further meta-subgroup analysis revealed that, compared with fluorescence imaging, NIR imaging had greater sensitivity (0.98 vs 0.73). Compared with optical imaging immediately after ICG injection, optical imaging after 20 minutes obtained greater sensitivity (0.98 vs 0.70). Compared with that of patients with an average SLN detection number < 4, the sensitivity of patients with a SLN detection number ≥ 4 was greater (0.96 vs 0.68). Compared with hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, immunohistochemical (+ HE) staining showed greater sensitivity (0.99 vs 0.84). Compared with subserous injection of ICG, submucosal injection achieved greater sensitivity (0.98 vs 0.40). Compared with 5 g/L ICG, 0.5 and 0.05 g/L ICG had greater sensitivity (0.98 vs 0.83), and cT1 stage had greater sensitivity (0.96 vs 0.72) than cT2 to cT3 clinical stage. Compared with that of patients ≤ 26, the sensitivity of patients > 26 was greater (0.96 vs 0.65). Compared with the literature published before 2010, the sensitivity of the literature published after 2010 was greater (0.97 vs 0.81), and the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). For the diagnosis of stomach cancer, optical imaging in conjunction with ICG-guided SLN biopsy is a therapeutically viable approach, especially for early gastric cancer. The concentration of ICG used in the SLN biopsy of gastric cancer may be too high. Moreover, NIR imaging is better than fluorescence imaging and may obtain higher sensitivity.

The Experience of Non-Full-Time Nursing Graduate Students in China: A Qualitative Study

To address the disconnection between the educational structure of nursing teams and the rapid development of China's medical and health industry, there is a shortage of highly educated nursing personnel. In 2016, Chinese universities introduced a new training model for nursing graduate students: non-full-time nursing graduate students. Due to its late development, this model needs continuous improvement. Understanding the training experience of non-full-time nursing graduate students is crucial for refining the training model. This study explores the experiences of non-full-time nursing graduate students and provides a basis for improving their training in China. Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with 20 non-full-time nursing graduate students. Data were collated and analyzed using Colaizzi's method. The analysis identified five themes related to the study experiences of non-full-time nursing graduate students: (1) maladaptation to diversified roles; (2) weak scientific research foundation; (3) lack of high-level guidance in clinical practice; (4) concern about social recognition; and (5) lack of educational and training resources. Competent government and training units should fully understand the experiences of non-full-time nursing graduate students and improve their training model from the students' perspective to promote the development of high-quality nursing talents. This will ultimately benefit employers, training units, individuals, and patients.

Review of nutrition and hydration in relation to physical exercise during pregnancy

Studies on nutritional recommendations for pregnant women who exercise are scarce. The objective of this article is not to focus on the diet of pregnant women as a whole, but to review those aspects of it that may be related to physical exercise. To this end, the nutritional and hydration recommendations contained in the main clinical practice guides on physical exercise during pregnancy are collected, including the first Spanish guides. Likewise, the energy requirements required by pregnant women who perform physical exercise during pregnancy for adequate gestational weight gain are addressed, aspects related to macronutrients in the aforementioned population group, and two specific topics, such as nutritional needs in the adolescent who practices physical exercise during pregnancy and eating disorders in pregnant athletes It is concluded by stating that pregnant women who exercise regularly should eat a varied and balanced diet, such as the Mediterranean diet, avoid long periods of fasting to avoid the appearance of hypoglycemia and maintain adequate fluid intake before, during and after physical exercise. Pregnant adolescents who engage in physical exercise require nutritional supervision to achieve adequate gestational weight gain. The pregnant athlete with an eating disorder has a higher risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth, gynecological, fetal and neonatal, and, therefore, requires close monitoring by specialists in maternal-fetal medicine.

Clinical applications of next-generation sequencing-based ctDNA analyses in breast cancer: defining treatment targets and dynamic changes during disease progression.

The advancements in the detection and characterization of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) have revolutionized precision medicine and are likely to transform standard clinical practice. The non-invasive nature of this approach allows for molecular profiling of the entire tumor entity, while also enabling real-time monitoring of the effectiveness of cancer therapies as well as the identification of resistance mechanisms to guide targeted therapy. Although the field of ctDNA studies offers a wide range of applications, including in early disease, in this review we mainly focus on the role of ctDNA in the dynamic molecular characterization of unresectable locally advanced and metastatic BC (mBC). Here, we provide clinical practice guidance for the rapidly evolving field of molecular profiling of mBC, outlining the current landscape of liquid biopsy applications and how to choose the right ctDNA assay. Additionally, we underline the importance of exploring the clinical relevance of novel molecular alterations that potentially represent therapeutic targets in mBC, along with mutations where targeted therapy is already approved. Finally, we present a potential roadmap for integrating ctDNA analysis into clinical practice.

By emphasizing the importance of this surgery and proposing effective measures, it aims to provide guidance for clinical practice, enhance the safety of posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation, and foster the healthy advancement of this surgical technique.

Taiwanese Dermatological Association consensus recommendations for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of generalized pustular psoriasis

Abstract Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare, potentially life-threatening skin disease characterized by relapsing and remitting flares of sterile neutrophilic pustules and systemic inflammation. The definition of GPP is inconsistent globally, with large discrepancies in clinical management. To provide clinical guidance on managing GPP, we conducted a systematic literature search for articles published within the last decade on PubMed and the Cochrane Library in October 2022 and held four consensus meetings with 12 Taiwanese dermatologists between October 2022 and July 2023. Upon review of 153 articles, we agreed to adopt the European Rare and Severe Psoriasis Expert Network GPP definition with additional clarifications on pustular flares in psoriatic plaques, circinate or annular lesions, and localized pustules. We also drafted a diagnostic algorithm to facilitate GPP diagnosis. Twenty-seven statements on GPP treatment reached consensus. We recommend using an oral retinoid or spesolimab injection for the first-line treatment in both acute (treating flares) and maintenance (preventing flares) settings in adults with GPP. For infants and juveniles with GPP, retinoids are recommended as a first-line treatment. Evidence for other conventional and investigational therapies was reviewed, and a treatment algorithm was proposed. We hope this consensus provides practical guidance for clinicians in Taiwan and helps improve outcomes for GPP patients.

Interpretation of Chinese guideline for the clinical management of patients with ruptured intracranial aneurysms (2024)

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is a life-threatening neurological emergency with high mortality, and even patients receiving optimal medical care may develop long-term disability, which seriously affects their quality of life and increases the heavy medical burden on society and families. To provide comprehensive clinical management advice, the Society of Neurosurgery of the Chinese Medical Association, the Society of the Chinese Stroke Association of the National Medical Center for Neurological Diseases, and the National Clinical Research Center for Neurological Diseases jointly formulate "Chinese Guidelines for the Clinical Management of Patients With Ruptured Intracranial Aneurysms in 2024". The evidence sources are divided into the Chinese population and other populations, using a modular format to provide recommendations, summaries of relevant opinions, and future research directions on epidemiology, clinical imaging diagnosis, prognosis evaluation, treatment strategies and choices, anesthesia management, perioperative care, and recommendations for the management of aSAH in special populations. It provides practical clinical guidance and recommendations for doctors and related professionals.

Exploration of Potential Determinants of Implementation of a Clinical Practice Guide to Enhance Physical Activity Participation of Children with Developmental Coordination Disorder

Purpose: This project explored the potential determinants (barriers and facilitators) of implementing a recently developed clinical practice guide (CPG) for the promotion and enhancement of the physical activity participation of children with developmental coordination disorder (DCD) prior to its release for clinical use. Methods: The validated Clinician Guideline Determinants Questionnaire was used to explore the potential determinants reported by nine physiotherapists who provide services to children with DCD. Results: There was 100% agreement with the CPG content. All participants also agreed that following the CPG recommendations would improve care delivery and patient outcomes. Potential barriers of implementation were related to several factors, such as guideline factors (e.g., a lot of information, need for a visual summary), individual health professional factors (e.g., need for CPG training and experience), professional interactions (e.g., need to create community and school partnerships), and incentives and resources (e.g., need for dedicated time). Facilitators were having the above-mentioned needs met. Conclusion: Successful implementation of this CPG by pediatric physiotherapists may require: (1) that certain CPG and educational resources be put in place; (2) support to develop community and school partnerships, and (3) support from managers.

Topical probiotics in wound care: A review of effects, mechanisms, and applications

Abstract The wound healing process depends on the wound microenvironment, influenced by factors like moisture, pH, bacteria, and immune activity. Current wound care strategies have drawbacks, necessitating safer non-drug–based methods. Recent research highlights the role of skin flora, particularly topical probiotics, in influencing the microenvironment and promoting wound healing. This article provides a comprehensive review of wound care research involving topical probiotics. It summarizes existing types of topical probiotics, their applications for various wound types, administration methods, and healing effects. The biological mechanisms promoting wound healing, such as immunomodulation, antibacterial properties, and growth factor release, are analyzed. Building on this, further exploration is conducted on the application challenges of topical probiotics in the field of wound care. Future prospects and trends are analyzed, and requirements and directions for relevant research design are proposed. This aims to provide valuable insights and guidance for future basic research and clinical practice in the realm of wound care.

Progesterone receptor impairs immune respond and down-regulates sensitivity to anti-LAG3 in breast cancer

BackgroundProgesterone receptor (PR) serves as a crucial prognostic and predictive marker in breast cancer. Nonetheless, the interplay between PR and the tumor immune microenvironment remains inadequately understood. This investigation employs bioinformatics analyses, mouse models, and clinical specimens to elucidate the impact of PR on immune microenvironment and identify potential targets for immunotherapy, furnishing valuable guidance for clinical practice. MethodsAnalysis of immune infiltration score by Xcell between PR-positive and PR-negative breast cancer tumors. Construction of overexpression mouse progesterone receptor (mPgr) EMT-6 cell was to explore the tumor immune microenvironment. Furthermore, anti- Lymphocyte-activation gene 3 (LAG3) therapy aimed to investigate whether PR could influence the effectiveness of immune treatments. ResultsOverexpression mPgr inhibited tumor growth in vitro, but promoted tumor growth in Balb/c mouse. Flow cytometry showed that the proportion and cytotoxicity of CD8+T cells in tumor of overexpressing mPgr group were significantly reduced. The significant reduction in overexpressing mPgr group was found in the proportions of LAG3+CD8+ T cells and LAG3+ Treg T cells. Anti-LAG3 treatment resulted in reduced tumor growth in EV group mouse rather than in overexpressing mPgr group. Patents derived tumor fragment (PDTF) also showed higher anti-tumor ability of CD3+T cell in patents’ tumor with PR <20% after anti-human LAG3 treatment in vitro. ConclusionsThe mPgr promotes tumor growth by downregulating the infiltration and function of cytotoxic cell. LAG3 may be a target of ER-positive breast cancer immunotherapy. The high expression of PR hinders the sensitivity to anti-LAG3 treatment.

The application of case-based learning with microlectures and flipped classroom teaching methods in the teaching of physiology to nursing undergraduates

ABSTRACT A blended teaching mode is necessary to improve the study efficiency of nursing students. This study aimed to explore the effects of the use of case-based learning (CBL), involving microlectures and flipped classroom teaching methods (flipped CBL mode), via online tools on the teaching of physiology to nursing undergraduates. A total of 207 nursing undergraduates were divided into a control group and a flipped CBL group. The control group received lecture-based learning, while the flipped CBL group received flipped CBL. The results showed that the final exam scores of the flipped CBL group were higher than those of the control group. The majority of nursing students believed that the flipped CBL model could provide guidance for future clinical practice, and could help in their study of physiology. Thus, the use of flipped CBL mode may improve the quality of teaching of physiology and enhance the comprehension and clinical thinking skills of nursing students.

The intervention of curcumin on rodent models of hepatic fibrosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

This study aimed to evaluate the intervention effect of curcumin on hepatic fibrosis in rodent models through systematic review and meta-analysis, in order to provide meaningful guidance for clinical practice. A systematic retrieval of relevant studies on curcumin intervention in rats or mice hepatic fibrosis models was conducted, and the data were extracted. The outcome indicators included liver cell structure and function related indicators, such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), albumin (ALB), ratio of albumin to globulin (A/G), total bilirubin (TBIL), bax protein, bcl-2 protein and index of liver, as well as the relevant indicators for evaluating the degree of hepatic fibrosis, such as hyaluronic acid (HA), laminin (LN), type I collagen (Collagen I), type III collagen (Collagen III), type III procollagen (PCIII), type III procollagen amino terminal peptide (PIIINP), type IV collagen (IV-C), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), α-Smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), hydroxyproline (HYP), platelet derived factor-BB (PDGF-BB), connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), and oxidative stress-related indicators, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px). These results were then analyzed by meta-analysis. Studies were evaluated for methodological quality using the syrcle's bias risk tool. A total of 59 studies were included in the meta-analysis, and the results showed that curcumin can reduce the levels of ALT, AST, ALP, TBIL, bax protein, and index of liver in hepatic fibrosis models. It can also reduce HA, LN, Collagen I, Collagen III, PCIII, PIIINP, IV-C, TNF-α, α-SMA, HYP, PDGF-BB, CTGF, TGF-β1 and MDA, and increase the levels of ALB, A/G, SOD, and GSH-Px in the hepatic fibrosis models. However, the effects of curcumin on bcl-2 protein, IL-6 in hepatic fibrosis models and index of liver in mice were not statistically significant. The analysis results indicate that curcumin can reduce liver cell apoptosis by maintaining the stability of liver cell membrane, inhibit the activation and proliferation of hepatic stellate cells by reducing inflammatory response, and alleviate tissue peroxidation damage by clearing oxygen free radicals.

Determining the future role of clinical practice guidelines: The experience of Australia and New Zealand.

There has been recent discussion in Australia and New Zealand concerning the utility of Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) and the role of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) in their development. The College Board therefore established a Steering Group (SG) to oversee an exploration of options and produce recommendations about contemporary approaches to the development of high-quality evidence-based clinical practice guidance for psychiatry. This paper outlines the SG's conclusions and recommendations, as well as the underlying methods and reasoning. In particular, we discuss best practice and recent developments in the synthesis of research evidence. Account has been taken of the opportunities offered by digital technologies, the proliferation of clinical evidence and awareness of the gains to be made by increased inclusion of lived-experience perspectives. It is recommended that the broader concept of best practice resources (BPRs) as now emphasised in so many fields of service is the most appropriate starting point for the College's role in this area especially as the expertise of the College and its fellows lends itself to the development of a range of BPRs. In conclusion, contemporary guidance needs to be tailored to the requirements of the practitioners seeking it, to articulate the real-world needs and experiences of patients, and to be delivered in a contemporary format that is responsive to rapidly emerging evidence. The experience in Australia and New Zealand may have implications elsewhere for the development of CPGs and BPRs more broadly.

What is needed for the roll-out of psychedelic treatments?

The pace of psychedelic treatments continues to increase. Regulation and coherent clinical guidance have not been established. A philosophical divide limits effective resolution of a practice delivery quandary: is this primarily a pharmacological or psychotherapeutic intervention? Lykos (formerly MAPS) has submitted its new drug application (NDA) request to the FDA for 3-4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD and is expecting a response by the summer of 2024. Australia endorsed psilocybin and MDMA for regulated use in 2023. Multiple phase II and III clinical trials are also being conducted in the United States and Europe to study the use of psilocybin. Currently, Colorado and Oregon have legalized psilocybin in different manners. In Colorado, plants containing psilocybin, ibogaine, dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and mescaline (other than peyote) are now legal to possess, share and cultivate. Guidelines for regulated treatment with psilocybin containing mushrooms are in process with service delivery to begin early in 2025. In Oregon, clients must complete a preparation session with a licensed facilitator before consuming psilocybin products at a licensed service center. A prescription is not required. It is expected that other states will follow suit with a ballot measure likely in Massachusetts this year. Additionally, in the United States, the DEA, state boards, pharmaceutical distributors, and professional liability carriers all share mounting concerns about the in-home use of compounded ketamine used as a psychedelic therapeutic via remote prescribing. Psychedelic treatments are rapidly entering the mainstream of medical care delivery in the United States. Clinical guidelines are urgently needed to ensure well tolerated practice and coherent regulation. The delivery of this guidance is limited by a core philosophical disagreement. Resolution of this conflict will be needed to deliver coherent clinical guidelines. Current research and clinical experience provide a solid foundation for practical clinical guidance and the introduction of psychedelics into healthcare.

Development of Tumor Markers for Breast Cancer Immunotherapy.

Although breast cancer treatment has been developed remarkably in recent years, it remains the primary cause of death among women. Immune checkpoint blockade therapy has significantly altered the way breast cancer is treated, although not all patients benefit from the changes. At present, the most effective mechanism of immune checkpoint blockade application in malignant tumors is not clear and efficacy may be influenced by many factors, including host, tumor, and tumor microenvironment dynamics. Therefore, there is a pressing need for tumor immunomarkers that can be used to screen patients and help determine which of them would benefit from breast cancer immunotherapy. At present, no single tumor marker can predict treatment efficacy with sufficient accuracy. Multiple markers may be combined to more accurately pinpoint patients who will respond favorably to immune checkpoint blockade medication. In this review, we have examined the breast cancer treatments, developments in research on the role of tumor markers in maximizing the clinical efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors, prospects for the identification of novel therapeutic targets, and the creation of individualized treatment plans. We also discuss how tumor markers can provide guidance for clinical practice.
