Research status and hotspots in transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts based on CiteSpace bibliometric analysis.

The transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is an important technique for treating complications related to portal hypertension in patients with cirrhosis, and the number of publications in the TIPS field continues to rise. To facilitate an understanding of the research status and hotspots in the field of TIPS using CiteSpace bibliometric analysis. CiteSpace is a software that depicts the strength of relationships through graphics and connections with diverse functionalities and can be used to analyze the status and hotspots of areas of research. Articles on TIPS in the Web of Science Core Collection were retrieved, and CiteSpace software was used to visualize and analyze the number of publications, journals, countries, institutions, authors, keywords, and citations. A total of 985 relevant documents were included in the analysis. From January 2013 to December 2022, the number of publications increased annually. The journal, institution, and author with the greatest number of publications in the field of TIPS are the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, the University of Bonn, and Jonel Trebicka, respectively. The main keywords used in this field are "transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt", "portal hypertension", "cirrhosis", "management", "stent", "hepatic encephalopathy", "refractory ascite", "survival", "risk", and "variceal bleeding". The greatest obstacle to TIPS placement is currently the occurrence of hepatic encephalopathy. The research hotspots are the mechanism, risk factors, management, and control of hepatic encephalopathy. This bibliometric analysis reported the research status and hotspots of TIPS. Research on postoperative hepatic encephalopathy is the research hotspot in this field.

Authorship pattern and Degree of collaboration in the field of Diabetes Research output in India: A Scientometric analysis

Diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases in India and has been a major cause of concern for many years. It is important to measure the author productivity of diabetes research in India. This paper will explore the trends in author productivity related to diabetes research in India over the past few years. This study focused on analyzing Diabetic research published via Web of Science (2018-2020). The results show that a total of 9185 papers were published. The year 2017 had the greatest number of publications, with 745 total documents. The analysis reveals that Journal articles constituted 8577 (93.381%) of total documents of source, followed by Website 406 (4.420%), Books 151 (1.644%), and respectively. Among all authors, V Mohan has published 164 outputs from Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, Chennai, followed by A Misra with 89 outputs in the field of diabetes research. The degree of collaboration is found to be 0.918 from 1938 to 2020 and found multiauthor dominating. The result of this study found that Indian authors contributed more articles on diabetes research and should be encouraged to contribute further works in this field.

Acupuncture for stroke: A bibliometric analysis of global research from 2000 to 2022

ObjectiveThis study aimed to explore the global and future research trends in acupuncture interventions for stroke between 2000 and 2022 using bibliometric analysis. MethodA bibliometric analysis of literature from 2000 to 2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection was conducted in this study. The analysis utilized CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Scimago Graphica software to identify the major contributors to publications, including authors, countries, institutions, journals, references, and keywords. ResultsThe bibliometric analysis yielded a total of 860 publications. There was a gradual increase in the number of publications over the study period. China published the most articles. Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine was the journal with the greatest number of publications. The most frequently used keywords were “acupuncture,” “stroke,” and “electroacupuncture.” ConclusionThese analysis uncovers the research trends in acupuncture for stroke spanning 2000 to 2022 and points to prospective research frontiers. This study provides a deeper and more thorough understanding of the connotations of acupuncture for stroke and guidance and support for future research in this field.

Two Decades of Publications in Journals Dedicated to Autoimmunity: A Bibliometric Analysis of the Autoimmunity Field from 2004 to 2023

To carry out an in-depth analysis of the scientific research on autoimmunity, we performed the first bibliometric analysis focusing on publications in journals dedicated to autoimmunity (JDTA) indexed by science citation index during the period 2004–2023. Using bibliometric analysis, we quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed the country, institution, author, reference and keywords information of publications in JDTA, so as to understand the quantity, publication pattern and publication characteristics of these publications. The co-occurrence networks, clustering map and timeline map were created by CiteSpace and VOSviewer software to visualize the results. The CiteSpace was also used to analyze the strongest citation burst of keywords, which could describe the frequency, intensity and time period of high-frequency keywords, and indicate the research hotspots in the field. A total of 5 710 publications were analyzed, and their annual distribution number was basically stable from 2004 to 2023, fluctuating around 300. The United States and Italy led the way in terms of the number of publications, followed by France and China. For international cooperation, the developed countries represented by the United States cooperate more closely, but the cooperation was localized, reflecting that there was no unified model of autoimmunity among countries. UDICE-French Research Universities had the greatest number of publications. Subsequently, the number of publications decreased slowly with the ranking, and the gradient was not large. Eric Gershwin and Yehuda Shoenfeld stood out among the authors. They had an excellent academic reputation and great influence in the field of autoimmunity. The results of keyword analysis showed that JDTA publications mainly studied a variety of autoimmune diseases, especially SLE and RA. At the same time, JDTA publications also paid special attention to the research of cell function, autoantibody expression, animal experiments, disease activity, pathogenesis and treatment. This study is the first to analyze the publications in JDTA from multiple indicators by bibliometrics, thus providing new insights into the research hotspots and development trends in the field of autoimmunity.

Facial Rejuvenation: A Global Trend of Dermatological Procedures in the Last Decade.

We aimed to track the global trend of cosmetic treatment outcomes for facial rejuvenation and the differences in modalities used in East Asian and Western populations. Articles reporting on facial rejuvenation procedures (invasive/noninvasive) were identified in PubMed from 2013 to March 2023 and bibliometrically analyzed for type of published document, citation frequency, authors with most articles, author's affiliation, and frequency distribution of keywords. From 553 articles, most were published in 2021 (n = 86, 15.6%). Western countries (n = 323, 58.4%) contributed more than East Asian (n = 230, 41.6%), with more invasive interventions (n = 355, 64.2%) than noninvasive techniques (n = 198, 35.8%). Numbers of invasive techniques in West versus East Asian countries were 225 (40.7%) versus 135 (24.4%). Main indications were the reduction of facial wrinkles and antiageing treatments. Hyaluronic acid, fillers, and botulinum toxin were the main hotspots for invasive treatments, whereas laser, platelet-rich plasma, and radiofrequency were for noninvasive treatments. Nasolabial folds (13.4%) and glabellar lines (12.4%) were the top research hotspots in the East Asian and Western regions. Common adverse events were pain, erythema, swelling, and bruising. Approximately, 89.3% of publications were from single countries, whereas 10.7% of publications were from international collaborations. Most articles (n = 387; 69.95%) presented their findings using level II evidence. Dermatological surgery (IF = 2.914) had the greatest number of publications (n = 109; 19.71%). The main hotspots were antiaging and youthfulness. This study provides a trend and a new perspective on the future research directions in the field of facial rejuvenation.

Research on stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury: a bibliometric and visual analysis from 2018-2023.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature on stem cell treatment for spinal cord injury to gain an intuitive understanding of how the field is progressing, discover topics of interest, and determine what development trends are emerging in this field. Background: Spinal cord injury and its complications often cause an enormous economic burden, and postinjury repair and treatment have always been challenging in clinical and scientific research. Stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury can prevent immune rejection and induce the release of neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory factors to reduce the production of stress-related proteins, reactive oxygen species, and inflammatory reactions. Methods: We analyzed the number and quality of publications in the field of stem cell therapy in spinal cord injury between 2018.01.01 and 2023.06.30 in the core collection database of Web of Science. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to sort and summarize these studies by country, institution, authors' publications, and collaborative networks. In addition, the research topics of interest were identified and summarized. Results: This study ultimately included 2,150 valid papers, with the number of publications showing a gradual upward trend. The country, institution, author and journal with the greatest number of publications and citations are China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dai JW, and the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, respectively. The top three high-frequency keyword clusters were hereditary paraplegia, reactive astrocytes and tissue engineering. Conclusion: With the help of visual analysis, we identified general trends and research topics of interest in the field of spinal cord injury over the last 5years. Our findings suggest that stem cell transplantation for spinal cord injury and exosome therapy may be a focus of future research. This study provides a foundation for future research on stem cell therapy as well as clinical efforts in this field.

Global research trends on cardiac troponin and physical activity among pediatric populations: a bibliometric analysis and science mapping study.

Cardiac troponin (cTn) is a reliable marker for evaluating myocardial damage. cTn is a very specific protein involved in myocardial injury, and it is a key factor in the diagnosis of coronary syndromes. Bibliometric analysis was applied in the present work, with the main goal of evaluating global research on the topic of cardiac troponin in pediatric populations. Publications about cardiac troponin and physical activity in pediatric populations were retrieved from the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) of the Web of Science Core Collection, and they were then analyzed. The study was able to identify the key bibliometric indicators, such as publications, keywords, authors, countries, institutions, and journals. For the analysis, VOSviewer, R-based Bibliometrix (4.2.2), and MapChart were used. Initially, 98 documents were identified; however, once inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, the number of documents decreased to 88. The search yielded 79 original research articles and 9 reviews, almost all of which were published in the past 2 decades. The total number of citations (Nc) of the retrieved publications was 1,468, and the average number of citations per article (Na) was 16.68. In general, 508 authors were found to have participated in research about troponin; they were associated with 256 institutions, and their work was published in 65 different journals from around the world. The authors hailed from 30 countries and/or regions. The year 2022 was the most productive year for the publication of the selected documents. The bibliometric analysis provided information regarding levels of cooperation among authors and institutions. In fact, China, the United States, and England were the most productive nations, and the journal with the greatest number of publications on the topic was Pediatric Cardiology. The number of publications and the trend line show that research on this topic has not yet reached a stage of maturity. There are referent investigators, countries, and institutions that have laid the foundations for subsequent studies on the analyzed topic.

The use of cardiac magnetic resonance in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy over the past 10 years [2013-2023]: a CiteSpace-based bibliometric analysis.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a common genetic cardiac disorder characterized by the hypertrophy of a segment of the myocardium. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) has been widely used in the assessment of HCM. However, no bibliometric assessment has been conducted on the progress of research in this field. This study thus aimed to examine the current state of research into the application of CMR in HCM and the hotspots and trends that have emerged in this field over the past decade. A systematic search was conducted on the Web of Science regarding CMR in the assessment of HCM. The databases were searched from 2013 to June 2023. CiteSpace is an application that can be used to characterize the underlying knowledge of the scientific literature in a given field. We used it to analyze the relationship between publication year and country, institution, journal, author, bibliography, and keywords in the field of CMR for the assessment of HCM. A total of 1,427 articles were included in the analysis. In the assessment of HCM, the findings from the past decade have consistently demonstrated a progressive rise in the quantity of articles pertaining to CMR. The country with the largest number of publications was the United States [310], and the institution with the greatest number of publications was the University College London [45]. The analysis of keywords revealed the diagnosis and management of HCM with CMR to be the current research focus and emerging trend within this academic field. This study used a novel approach to visually analyze the use of CMR in HCM assessment. The current research trajectory in CMR consists of the diagnosis and management of patients with HCM. Although most studies confirmed the indispensability of CMR in the assessment of HCM, larger-scale cohorts are still needed to more comprehensively evaluate the role of CMR in the differential diagnosis, pre- and post-treatment assessment, and long-term management of patients with HCM.

Trends in photodynamic therapy for dermatology in recent 20 years: A scientometric review based on CiteSpace.

Analyze the research state and development trend of photodynamic therapy for dermatology using visual knowledge graphs derived from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The Web of Science Core Collection database was utilized as the search data source for the bibliometric analysis, and the associated articles published between January 1, 2000, and December 31, 2022, were obtained using the search terms "photodynamic therapy" and "dermatology". CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and additional tools were utilized for bibliometric analysis, and visual knowledge graphs were created. Eight hundred and thirty two articles were retrieved in total, and 747 were included following de-duplication and transformation. The country with the greatest number of publications is the United States; the primary research institution was University of Copenhagen; and the references with the highest centrality were primarily concerned with the selection of photosensitizers; High frequency keywords primarily comprised 5 aminolevulinic acid and basal cell carcinoma; and the clustering graph revealed that all keywords fell into 11 categories. In numerous areas of dermatology, photodynamic treatment is commonly employed. Current research focuses on nonneoplastic skin diseases and the choice of photosensitizers. Nonetheless, its specific mechanism and other applications merit further investigation.

Global trends and prospects about synaptic plasticity in Alzheimer's disease: a bibliometric analysis.

In recent years, synaptic plasticity disorders have been identified as one of the key pathogenic factors and the early pathological characteristics of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we tried to use bibliometric analysis to gain a systematic understanding about synaptic plasticity in Alzheimer's disease. We extracted relevant publications from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) on August 29th, 2022. Then, we used CiteSpace, VOSviewer and other online bibliometric platforms to further analyze the obtained data. A total of 2,348 published articles and reviews about synaptic plasticity in AD from 2002 to 2022 were identified. During the past two decades, the overall trends of the numbers and citations of manuscripts were on the rise. The United States was the leading country with the largest number of publications which showed its crucial role in this field. The collaboration network analysis showed that the United States and China had the most frequent collaboration. In addition, Harvard University was the institution with the greatest number of publications and cited times. Among all authors, Selkoe DJ was the most influential author with the greatest cited times. The journal of Alzheimer's disease published the maximum number of documents in the field of synaptic plasticity in AD within 20 years. Furthermore, the results of keywords burst detection showed that the hot topics have shifted from the synaptic transmission, precursor protein and plaque formation to neuroinflammation, microglia and alpha synuclein. This study analyzed 2,348 publications with 82,025 references covering the topic of synaptic plasticity in AD and presented the research trends. The results indicated that neuroinflammation, microglia and alpha synuclein were the current research hotspots, which implied the potential clinical applications to AD.

A scientometric analysis of the relationship between functional dyspepsia and anxiety

Aims: Functional dyspepsia is a common disorder characterized by persistent or recurrent upper gastrointestinal tract symptoms without underlying disease or structural abnormalities that can have a significant impact on an individual's overall quality of life. Studies in the literature indicate that anxiety also plays an important role in the etiology of functional dyspepsia. Early diagnosis and treatment of the underlying anxiety disorder are important to relieve dyspeptic symptoms. In this study, the aim was to examine the studies related to functional dyspepsia and anxiety using the bibliometric method.
 Methods: Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science database was used to search for articles and reviews on functional dyspepsia and anxiety between 1980 and 2022. VOSviewer, Tableau, and IBM SPSS Statistics were used for bibliometric network visualization and statistical analyses. A regression analysis using a nonlinear exponential model was used to forecast the number of publications in the next years. Keyword network visualization maps were used to identify recent trends and relationships.
 Results: The Web of Science database included 560 articles and reviews about functional dyspepsia and anxiety between 1991 and 2023, with the top 5 research areas being Gastroenterology, Clinical Neurology, Neurosciences, Psychiatry, and General Internal Medicine. The collaborative clustering network map shows four distinct clusters based on total link strength scores, and the correlation between Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the number of studies published suggests that countries with higher GDP tend to publish more studies. Since 2015, the amount of published materials on the topic has dramatically increased and is continuing to rise.
 Conclusion: There has been an upward trend in publications about the relationship between functional dyspepsia and anxiety since the 2010s, with the top ten countries with the greatest number of publications being mostly wealthy nations. The most cited journal on the topic was the American Journal of Gastroenterology, with 1441 total citations. Our findings suggest that this is a rapidly evolving field with a broad range of research topics.

Research trends and hotspots on the links between caveolin and cancer: bibliometric and visual analysis from 2003 to 2022.

Introduction: Extensive studies indicated that caveolin is a key regulator in multiple cellular processes. Recently, growing evidence demonstrated that caveolin is critically involved in tumor progression. Since no relevant bibliometric study has been published, we performed a bibliometric and visual analysis to depict the knowledge framework of research related to the involvement of caveolin in cancer. Methods: Relevant studies published in English during 2003-2022 were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Three programs (VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and R-bibliometrix) and the website of bibliometrics (http://bibliometric.com/) were applied to construct networks based on the analysis of countries, institutions, authors, journals, references, and keywords. Results: A total of 2,463 documents were extracted and identified. The United States had the greatest number of publications and total citations, and Thomas Jefferson University was the most productive institution. Michael P. Lisanti was the most influential scholar in this research domain. Cell Cycle was the journal with the most publications on this subject. The most local-cited document was the article titled "Caveolin-1 in oncogenic transformation, cancer, and metastasis." A comprehensive analysis has been conducted based on keywords and cited references. Initially, the research frontiers were predominantly "signal transduction", "human breast cancer," "oncogenically transformed cells," "tumor suppressor gene," and "fibroblasts." While in recent years, the research emphasis has shifted to "tumor microenvironment," "epithelial mesenchymal transition," "nanoparticles," and "stem cells." Conclusion: Taken together, our bibliometric analysis shows that caveolin continues to be of interest in cancer research. The hotspots and research frontiers have evolved from the regulation of cancer signaling, to potential targets of cancer therapy and novel techniques. These results can provide a data-based reference for the guidance of future research.

Bibliometric Analysis of Publications Related to Sociopetal and Sociofugal Spaces

Sociopetal and sociofugal spaces are important aspects of urban planning and design. However, no study has examined these spaces systematically, using a bibliometric perspective. This study explored the status of sociopetal and sociofugal spaces through analysis of 869 papers obtained from Google Scholar. This study’s results revealed an increasing number of publications focusing on sociopetal and sociofugal spaces over the last decade. The bibliometric analysis also showed that English was the dominant publication language and ProQuest was the most widely used source (database) for finding the papers. Besides, the most frequent keywords used were “Hall” and “chair.” The most influential document was cited 111,336 times, while the greatest number of publications were produced by Robert Sommer. These results can help architecture, urban design, and environmental psychology professionals gain a comprehensive understanding of sociopetal and sociofugal space and their planning and design implications.

An exhaustive analysis of post-traumatic brain injury dementia using bibliometric methodologies.

It is widely accepted that traumatic brain injury (TBI) increases the risk of developing long-term dementia, although some controversies surrounding this topic exist. Annually, approximately 69 million individuals suffer from TBI all around the world. Such a large population of TBI patients could lead to a future surge in the number of dementia patients. Due to the potentially severe consequences of TBI, various research projects on post-TBI dementia have emerged worldwide. Therefore, it is essential to comprehend the current status and development of post-TBI dementia for future research. The purpose of the study was to provide an overview of the field and identify hotspots, research frontiers, and future research trends for post-TBI dementia. Articles related to post-TBI dementia were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection for the period between 2007 and 2022, and analyzing them based on factors such as citations, authors, institutions, countries, journals, keywords, and references. Data analysis and visualization were conducted using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and an online bibliometric platform (https://bibliometric.com). From 2007 to 2022, we obtained a total of 727 articles from 3,780 authors and 1,126 institutions across 52 countries, published in 262 journals. These articles received a total of 29,353 citations, citing 25,713 references from 3,921 journals. Over the last 15 years, there has been a significant upward trend in both publications and citations. The most productive country was the United States, the most productive institution was Boston University, and the most productive author was McKee AC. Journal of Neurotrauma has been identified as the periodical with the greatest number of publications. Three clusters were identified through cluster analysis of keywords. A burst in the use of the term "outcome" in 2019 is indicative of a future research hotspot. The timeline view of references showed 14 clusters, of which the first 4 clusters collected the majority of papers. The first 4 clusters were "chronic traumatic encephalopathy," "age of onset," "tauopathy," and "cognitive decline," respectively, suggesting some areas of interest in the field. The subject of post-TBI dementia has raised much interest from scientists. Notably, America is at the forefront of research in this area. Further collaborative research between different countries is imperative. Two topical issues in this field are "The association between TBI and dementia-related alterations" and "chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)." Studies on clinical manifestation, therapy, pathology, and pathogenic mechanisms are also popular in the field.

Bone morphogenetic proteins in spine surgery: a scientometric analysis to date.

Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are part of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily and are involved in bone formation and repair. In spine surgery, recombinant human BMP (rhBMP) is used as an alternative to autografts for spinal fusions. This study aimed to evaluate bibliometric parameters and citations of the literature on BMPs to provide an overview of how the field has evolved. A comprehensive search of the literature was conducted using Elsevier's Scopus database to capture all the published and indexed studies relevant to BMPs from 1955 to the present. A discrete set of validated bibliometric parameters was extracted and analyzed. All statistical analyses were performed using R 4.1.1. The 100 most cited articles were published between 1994 and 2018 by 472 unique authors in 40 sources (e.g., journals and books). On average, there were 279 citations per publication and 17.69 citations per publication per year. The United States had the publications with the most citations (n = 23,761), followed by Hong Kong (n = 580) and the United Kingdom (n = 490). The three institutions in the United States with the greatest number of publications in the field were Emory University (n = 14), Hughston Clinic (n = 9), Hospital for Special Surgery (n = 6), and University of California (n = 6). The authors evaluated and characterized the 100 most cited articles about BMP. Most of the publications were clinical in nature and focused on BMP's application in spine surgery. While early scientific efforts focused on basic science research to advance the understanding of BMP's mechanism of action in promoting bone formation, the majority of the more recent publications are clinically focused. It will be beneficial to conduct more controlled clinical trials to compare the outcomes of BMP use with other methods.

Research trends on guest experience with service robots in the hospitality industry: a bibliometric analysis

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to reveal the research trends in guest experiences of service robots in the hospitality industry.Design/methodology/approachIn this study, a review was carried out on the Web of Science (WoS) database with the assistance of bibliometric analysis techniques. Cluster analysis was also employed for this to group important data to determine the relationships and to visualize the areas in which the studies are concentrated. The thematic content analysis method was used to reveal on which customer experiences and on which methods the focuses were.FindingsOn the subject of experiences of service robots, the greatest number of publications was in 2021. In terms of country, China has come to the fore in the distribution of publications. As a result of thematic content analysis, it was determined that the leading factor was the main dimension of emotional experience. In terms of sub-dimensions, social interactions attracted more attention. Most of the studies discussed were not based on any theory. Apart from these, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the Service Quality Model (SERVQUAL) and Perceived Value Theory (PVT) were featured more prominently among other studies.Research limitations/implicationsIn this study, only the WoS database was reviewed. In future studies, it would be possible to make contextual comparisons by scanning other databases. In addition to quantitative research designs, social dimensions may be examined in depth following qualitative research methods. Thus, various comparisons can be made on the subject with mixed-method research designs. Experimental research designs can also be applied to where customers have experienced human-robot interactions (HRIs).Originality/valueIn the hospitality industry, it is critical to uncover every dimension of guests' robot acceptance. This study, which presents the current situation on this basis, guides future projections for the development of guest experiences regarding service robots in the hospitality industry.

Research on HTLV-1 and HTLV-2 in Latin America and the Caribbean over the last ten years

Worldwide, Human T-lymphtropic virus-1 and 2 (HTLV-1 and 2) infects approximately more than 10 million people, mostly occurring in hyperendemic areas such as the region of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). A comprehensive bibliographic exploration of original articles published on the Web of Science Core Collection database over the last 10 years was done. A bibliometric analysis was performed using the bibliometrix package in RStudio and VOSviewer. A total of 519 articles published in 194 journals were identified along the 10 years studied. In 2012 the peak number of publications was identified and the average number of citations per document was 1.33. Galvao-Castro B was the author with the greatest number of publications. Aids Research and Human Retroviruses was the most productive journal, and the study by Bangham CRM was the most cited. Brazil was the country with most corresponding authors that had the most publications and the most significant number of total citations. Infections and HTLV-1 were the most used keywords. In conclusion, according to the current quantitative analysis, there is a need for more significant promotion of research on HTLV-1 and 2 among the scientific community of LAC.

Global research into the relationship between electronic waste and health over the last 10 years: A scientometric analysis.

The aims of this research were to conduct the first holistic and deep scientometric analysis of electronic waste and health and provide with the prediction of research trends and hot topics. A comprehensive literature search was conducted via the Web of Science Core collection databases on 26 August 2022 to identify all articles related to electronic waste and health. A total of 652 records have been extracted from the Web of Science after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria and were analyzed using bibliometrix software of R-package, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace, visualized by tables and diagrams. The number of publications and total citations had shown a general growth trend from 2012 to 2021, with an average annual growth rate of 23.74%. Mainland China was the significant nation with the greatest number of publications, citations, and international links. The journal publishing the most was "Science of the Total Environment" (n = 56). Huo X and Hu XJ were the top two author contributing to this field with the highest h-index (23). Over time, the focus in this field shifted to exposure to heavy metal, polychlorinated biphenyls, polybrominated biphenyl ethers, and poly- and perfluorinated alkyl substances from electronic waste, and managements, such as hydrometallurgy. By this scientometric analysis, we found that the most active country, journal, organization and author contributing to this filed, as well as high impact documents and references and research hotspots. Also, we found that the hotspots might be exposure to toxic substances from electronic waste procession, its impact on human health and relevant managements. And evironmentally friendly materials to replace heavy metal mate rials, and environmentally friendly and effective recycling methods of electronic waste need to be further studied.
