The Impact of Small Business Financing on The Digital Palestinian Economy

This study investigates the influence of financing on the digital economy of small businesses in Palestine. Through a combination of surveys and interviews with 50 Palestinian small business owners, the research reveals a nuanced relationship between financial support and its economic effects. The findings indicate that while some respondents experienced benefits such as enhanced competitiveness and market expansion, others encountered difficulties, suggesting the need for customized financial solutions. The study identifies prevalent financing mechanisms, including bank loans and government grants, and emphasizes the importance of specialized support programs in fostering entrepreneurship and generating employment. Job creation is highlighted as a significant economic impact, corroborating existing research on the role of small businesses in reducing unemployment and promoting economic stability. The study also addresses challenges related to financing, such as regulatory hurdles and political issues with international stakeholders, as noted in the literature. Overcoming these challenges is essential for maximizing the potential of small businesses in Palestine. Recommendations from respondents include simplifying regulations and enhancing collaboration between government bodies and financial institutions, offering practical measures to improve financial accessibility for small enterprises. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of how financing mechanisms can stimulate economic growth within the unique context of Palestine.

Implementation of Mukhabarah in Productive Waqf Management to Improve Social Welfare in Bireuen

This research examines the implementation of mukhabarah in the management of productive waqf to improve social welfare in Bireuen. Mukhabarah, as a profit-sharing system in agriculture, allows cooperation between nadzir (waqf managers) and cultivators to manage waqf land productively. The research results show that mukhabarah can increase land productivity, cultivator income, and the quality of life of the community. The social impacts of this system include reducing unemployment, increasing agricultural skills, and strengthening social ties. However, the implementation of mukhabarah faces challenges such as a lack of understanding and skills of nadzir, unsupportive regulations, and limited access to capital and technology. The role of the government and Islamic financial institutions is very important in supporting and overcoming these challenges. By increasing the capacity of nadzir and cultivators, developing supportive regulations, facilitating access to capital and technology, infrastructure and market support, as well as collaboration between stakeholders, it is hoped that the implementation of mukhabarah can run more effectively and provide optimal benefits for community welfare.

Accelerating entrepreneurship: Evidence from the incubation centers of management institutes of Dakshina Kannada

PurposeIncubation centres are gaining significant prominence as they play a crucial role in providing supportive environment and encouraging entrepreneurship among students. Considering its importance, the study is intended to offer a thorough knowledge of incubators’ role in promoting entrepreneurship growth using data acquired from Dakshina Kannada Management Institutes. It also intends to investigate the efficacy and success of incubators using a variety of metrics. MethodsThis study is based on the mixed-method approach, where specifically the concurrent qual-quant approach is adopted. An in-depth interview was undertaken, and a structured questionnaire was formulated to collect the data from final year Masters’ students from the Management Institutes. Qualitative analysis was narrated and quantitative analysis was carried out using SPSS 26 and AMOS 23, with descriptive statistics, t-test, regression analysis, and SEM which were utilized to evaluate the association between variables. ResultsThe study has highlighted the importance of reputation and credibility of the incubation centre, along with the significance of building a strong network as integral factors for learning from it. Overall, the study has found that students’ perception of education collaboration, and policy regulatory framework pertaining to incubation centres highly impacted the effectiveness of the incubation centre, which further enhances its success. ImplicationsThis study helps to handle challenges for young entrepreneurs through proper direction and support, by refining their business ideas and collaborations with local and regional businesses to create a healthy entrepreneurship environment by fostering the integration between government bodies, financial institutions, and venture capitalists with the entrepreneurs and key stakeholders. Originality/rationaleAs an exceptional highlight than other studies, this study focused on assessing the impact of awareness, perception, education and collaboration, policy and regulatory frameworks, and challenges on the effectiveness of incubators, and success of incubation centre. This has provided the answers to more comprehensive questions pertaining to incubation centre using mixed method approach. The combination of qualitative and quantitative results has identified novel findings which urges the incubation centres to identify the startups with high growth potential where the major challenges lie in convincing the students to implement their own business ideas.

Exploring Financial Inclusion among Women Entrepreneurs: A Survey in Hazaribagh District, Jharkhand

Financial inclusion is a critical aspect of economic empowerment, particularly for marginalized segments such as women entrepreneurs. This research investigates the landscape of financial inclusion among women entrepreneurs in Hazaribagh District, Jharkhand, aiming to identify challenges and opportunities for enhancing their financial participation. Through a comprehensive survey-based approach, this study explores various dimensions of financial inclusion, including access to financial services, utilization patterns, and perceptions among women entrepreneurs in the region. In Hazaribagh District, Jharkhand, where entrenched gender norms often limit women's economic opportunities, understanding the status of financial inclusion among women entrepreneurs becomes imperative. Previous studies suggest significant disparities in access to finance, hindering the growth of women-led businesses. This study seeks to address this gap by conducting a survey to assess the extent of financial inclusion among women entrepreneurs in Hazaribagh District. A structured questionnaire was designed to collect data from a sample of women entrepreneurs operating across various sectors in Hazaribagh District. The questionnaire encompassed sections on demographic details, access to financial services, borrowing and saving behaviors, financial literacy, and perceptions of financial institutions. A purposive sampling technique was employed to select respondents, ensuring representation from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Data collection occurred over a specific timeframe, and responses underwent analysis using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Analysis of the survey data revealed significant insights into the status of financial inclusion among women entrepreneurs in Hazaribagh District. Specifically, 72% of respondents reported limited access to formal financial services, citing factors such as distance to banking institutions and lack of awareness as primary barriers. Moreover, 58% of women entrepreneurs relied on informal sources of credit, indicating a substantial gap in formal financial engagement. Despite these challenges, 85% of respondents expressed a willingness to engage with formal financial institutions if provided with suitable products and services tailored to their needs. The discussion underscores the importance of targeted interventions to enhance financial inclusion among women entrepreneurs in Hazaribagh District. Strategies such as mobile banking initiatives, financial literacy workshops, and microfinance programs emerge as potential avenues for addressing existing gaps and empowering women economically. Furthermore, collaborative efforts involving government agencies, financial institutions, and non-profit organizations are essential for creating an enabling environment conducive to women's entrepreneurship development. This research delivers valuable insights into the state of financial inclusion among women entrepreneurs in Hazaribagh District, Jharkhand. By pinpointing barriers and opportunities, it provides a foundation for evidence-based policy interventions aimed at advancing women's economic empowerment. The findings underscore the significance of holistic approaches that tackle not only access to finance but also socio-cultural factors shaping women's entrepreneurial endeavors. Moving forward, sustained efforts are warranted to foster an inclusive financial ecosystem that empowers women entrepreneurs to thrive and contribute to the socio-economic fabric of the region. In conclusion, this study underscores the urgency of addressing the financial inclusion gap among women entrepreneurs in Hazaribagh District and offers actionable recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders committed to promoting gender equality and inclusive economic growth.

Do government fiscal expenditure and financial institutions promote high-tech industry development? Evidence from China

ABSTRACT With economic globalization and the rapid progress of economic transformation, developing high-tech industries has become an important way for many emerging countries to achieve sustainable and environmentally friendly economic development category. This research uses the vector error correction model (VECM) to study the effect of fiscal expenditures and financial support on China’s high-tech industry development during 2001–2022. The results show that government fiscal expenditure has a long-term and stable positive relationship with the output of high-tech industries and the number of new high-tech enterprises, while current loans from financial institutions have a negative relationship with such development. Moreover, fiscal expenditure has a greater and deeper impact on high-tech industries than does the loans of financial institutions. In terms of policy insights, our results imply that the government should continue to improve fiscal expenditure and promote financial innovation to help achieve sustainable and balanced development of high-tech industries.

An application of the extended UTAUT model to understand the adoption of cashless transactions: evidence from developing country

Purpose This study aims to identify the factors influencing cashless transactions toward digital payment systems using the extended UTAUT model in developing countries. This model was extended with perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, facilitating conditions, perceived security/trust and social influence for assessing consumer behavior toward cashless transactions. Design/methodology/approach Using structural equation modeling (SEM), this study conducted a cross-sectional survey to collect data, providing a snapshot of the relationship between exogenous and endogenous variables. Findings The results of the study indicate that perceived usefulness, facilitating conditions, perceived trust/security and social influence have a significant influence on consumer intentions toward cashless transactions. Oppositely, leaving the perceived ease of use has no significant influence on consumer intentions toward the usage of cashless transactions. Originality/value The contribution of this study is to extend the UTAUT model for adopting cashless transactions in developing countries that will help government agencies, service providers and financial institutions design effective strategies in the future.

Financing Challenges of Cameroon’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

Cameroon’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are vital contributors to economic growth and employment opportunities, making its sustained success imperative. However, SMEs grapple with a myriad of issues that impede their development trajectory. Challenges related to financial access, profitability, resilience, and growth are intertwined and necessitate a holistic examination. One significant challenge is the limited access to financing options, hindering SMEs from investing in growth and innovation. Investigating the effectiveness of government policies and financial institutions in facilitating SME access to capital is crucial. Furthermore, market dynamics, cost structures, and competition often constrain SME profitability. Research can illuminate strategies to enhance profitability through efficiency and value creation. SME survival in Cameroon’s dynamic business environment demands an exploration of the barriers and the challenges. This inquiry explores these complexities by exploring the literature through current and emerging literature. The aim is to shed light on the dynamics of small business financing in Cameroon to create a research discussion that other researchers and policymakers will build on.

Determinants of Demand and Participation by Poultry Farmers in Formal and Informal Credit Markets in Cross River State, Nigeria

A typical challenge for over 65 percent of the Nigerian population living in rural areas and surviving through agricultural activities is access to credit facilities needed to procure technological inputs that trigger productivity. This has consequently limited the capacity of small and micro agro-enterprises - especially poultry enterprises - to develop. Therefore, this study was undertaken to analyse factors affecting the demand and participation of agro-entrepreneurs, particularly poultry farmers, in formal and informal credit markets in Cross River State, Nigeria. Purposive and random sampling techniques were used to select 295 poultry farmers. Data were collected for the 2022 production cycle using structured questionnaires and interviews, and the results were analysed using a multinomial logit model. The results revealed that socioeconomic and enterprise characteristics such as educational level, gender, farm capacity, poultry training, and household assets were significant factors that influenced the participant's choice of credit institution in the study area. Also, favourable terms, outstanding loans and easier access to loans were the institutional factors that affected credit demand. Training and workshop programmes should be organised by government and corporate financial institutions to encourage participation in credit markets so that the abundant available funds can be efficiently utilised in the production process.

The Role of Sharia Financial Innovation and Literacy in Improving the Performance of MSME Actors

This study aims to analyze the role of innovation and Islamic financial literacy in improving the performance of MSME actors in the context of Islamic economics. This study also aims to evaluate the impact of innovation and Islamic financial literacy on MSME growth and contribute to the sustainable development of MSMEs. This qualitative research applied a literature approach and document analysis to collect relevant data and information. A literature review was also conducted to identify indicators of the success of Islamic financial innovation and literacy in MSMEs and appropriate evaluation methods. Other research data included previous research results and related case studies. The results of this study revealed that MSMEs that implement Islamic financial innovation and literacy tend to experience improved performance. Product and process innovation, selection of Islamic financial instruments, and financial management by Sharia principles contributed positively to increasing MSME income, productivity, and operational efficiency. This research contributes to understanding the critical role of innovation and Islamic financial literacy in improving the performance of MSME actors. The findings of this study can serve as a reference for relevant stakeholders, including MSME actors, government, and Islamic financial institutions, in developing supporting policies and programs that strengthen innovation and Islamic financial literacy in MSMEs.

Evaluating the influence of economic aid and land ownership on the reduction in coffee yield and its socioeconomic consequences: A case study of the Akuapem North Municipality, Ghana.

Coffee is a highly valuable tropical agricultural commodity and is the second most traded commodity in the international market after oil. Despite coffee being cultivated in Ghana since the late 18th century, around the same time as cocoa was introduced, cocoa has become the more dominant crop due to coffee's low yield in Ghana. As a result, many farmers have shifted their focus from coffee farming to other crops, particularly cocoa, as it has become the country's primary source of foreign exchange. The purpose of the research was to investigate the impact of the reduction in coffee production on the livelihoods of farmers in the Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern Region. The study aimed to identify the reasons behind the decline in coffee production as perceived by the farmers, as well as to determine their views on potential solutions to the problem. The purposeful sampling method was used to select two (2) communities, namely Apirede and Tinkong, based on the intensive production of coffee in the municipality. The snowball sampling method was used to select 50 respondents from the two communities. The results showed that most (92%) respondents were males, while the remaining 8% were females, which means a lot of males are into coffee production in the district. The majority (24%) identified inadequate financial assistance from the government and other financial sources as the major cause of the decline in coffee production. The majority (26% each) chose financial assistance from the government and access to credit as a way to improve coffee production. The majority (94%) of the respondents indicated that the decline in coffee production has affected their income. The study established that the government, NGO's, and other financial institutions such as banks or credit institutions in Akuapem North Municipality must take responsibility for granting loans or credit to farmers to address problems of finance encountered in their search to maximize the economic returns of the coffee industry. In addition, the government could also help coffee farmers acquire vast arable lands through clearly defined tenure rights and agreements for land owners and coffee farmers in the Akuapem North Municipality.

Great Evacuation of Vilnius in 1915

Due to the threat of Vilnius being captured by the approaching German troops, the tsarist authorities decided to hastily move to the empire not only government administration units, industrial plants, and educational and financial institutions, but also the most valuable resources of cultural institutions, movable sacred objects, and Russian monuments. The population leaving the city also took with them valuable items, including objects of historic and commemorative value, as well as works of art. At the time, the former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania suffered colossal losses of movable cultural heritage objects collected over several centuries. Thanks to the dignified attitude of the local community remaining in Vilnius, it was possible to partially secure and save many items of cultural property from being exported, destroyed or dispersed.

Socio-Cultural Transformation of Seaweed Farmers in Ghone Balano Village, Muna Regency

This study aims to determine the socio-cultural aspects of seaweed farmers in Ghone Balano Village, Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. Seaweed farmers on the coast of Ghone Balano Village, Muna Regency, especially people who work as fishermen, are changing from traditional to more modern lifestyles with a focus on sea utilization or seaweed cultivation. This change can be seen in the production process of seaweed cultivation which is more characterized by household business activities dealing with marketing processes that have capitalistic value. However, this change was hampered by funding from government and private financial institutions. Although technology has begun to be applied in seaweed cultivation, it has not been optimal in increasing production because it is very dependent on the contributions of family members. As a result, slow capital formation and suboptimal use of technology hamper the progress of seaweed cultivation among these farmers.

Bank Aceh Syariah Contribution in Supporting the Development of the Halal Tourism Sector In the City of Sabang

The presence of halal tourism does not only focus on halal products, which are life choices and follow Sharia rules for the community, but the involvement of the government and Islamic financial institutions, especially Islamic banking, is also a supporter of encouraging this sector, one of which is Bank Aceh Syariah. This research focused on contribution of Bank Aceh Syariah in supporting the development of the Halal tourism sector especially the MSME actors in the city of Sabang. This methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative based on field research. The findings of the research stated that the contribution of Bank Aceh Syariah to supporting the development of the halal tourism sector in the city of Sabang is particularly carried out through fund distribution products, namely microfinance with murabahah and musyarakah schemes for MSME actors. However, Bank Aceh Syariah focuses not only on the financial aspect alone but also on assistance and supervision for MSME actors. In addition, the convenience of service facilities provided by Bank Aceh is also a supporting facility in facilitating transactions for business people and visiting tourists, such as the convenience of ATM facilities, Mobile ACTION, QRIS, and other facilities.

Literature Study of ESG in Corporate Investment and ESG Rating Status

This paper explores the challenges and solutions related to implementing ESG (Environmen-tal, Social, and Governance) systems within China's traditional industrial sector and pro-vides insights into future development trends. Mobile Banking in Madagascar: Potential Benefits and Challenges

The existence of mobile banking promotes financial inclusiveness and upgrades the financial literacy of individuals. Mobile banking has drastically grown in the decades both in developed and developing nations. This fast pace of growth is a result of raising various types of products and services related to mobile money for users. In this work, we present additional information that needs to be understood about mobile banking in the context of Madagascar, Africa. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the potential benefits and challenges faced in adopting mobile banking. Understanding the current issues of mobile banking contributes to the advancement of theory and scientific knowledge in banking and finance. In addition to the contribution of this work to the literature on mobile banking, this yields insightful and comprehensive knowledge for the government, central banks, commercial banks, and other financial institutions in forming new strategies to improve the financial system and cope with technological advancement.

The Effects of Cost Implications in the Adoption of Biometric Application Banks in Eldoret Town, Kenya

Biometric technology utilizes biological and behavioral characteristics to automatically identify individuals. The paper was guided by the question on how does cost implications affect for adoption of biometric application in authorization and identification in banks in Eldoret Town. Cost of implications does not influence for adoption of biometric application in authorization and identification in banks in Eldoret Town. Thus, this study will help government agencies, financial institutions and other corporate business in adopting biometric systems. The research indicated cost implications affects biometric application in authorization and identification in cyber security in banks where biometric applications in banks have insufficient technical infrastructure hence affecting inefficiency and ineffectiveness of bank operations. In conclusion, the research indicated that cost implications are a major indicator that influenced biometric application in authorization and identification in cyber security in commercial banks in Kenya.

The results of the research - the findings of this study highlight critical strategies for enhancing competitiveness in non-oil industries. The originality and scientific novelty of the research - the study offers an original perspective on the multifaceted and interconnected benefits of credit in agro-industrial systems, highlighting the importance of sustainable practices and financial inclusion, thus contributing to scientific innovation in understanding the vital role of credit in promoting agricultural growth and economic development.

Towards Cryptocurrency Adoption in Tanzania: Potential Risks and Challenges to the Financial Ecosystem

The emergence of cryptocurrency financial technology in the world has introduced new global cashless payment system. Researchers, scholars, jurisdictions, central banks and governments all over the world has put much attention in this payment technology. Despite the enormous benefits of cryptocurrency, it has been associated with several risks and challenges including high price volatility, security vulnerabilities and the illegal activities such as money laundering, terrorist financing, corruption and fraud. Moreover, the level of acceptance and adoption of this currency is questionable among the public and especially in the financial sector. This study uses the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), to assess the level of adoption, anticipated risks and challenges. The study used the mixed research design with a qualitative embedded design. The study collected data from 100 respondents obtained through convenient sampling approach. Respondents were sampled from BOT and Commercial banks based in Dar Es Salaam, Cryptocurrency traders among others. Data were analysed by the use of descriptive (quantitative data) and content analysis (qualitative data). Findings reveal that, the rate and intention of adopting cryptocurrency is very low because of ICT related challenges. It was further revealed that in Tanzania, volatility of the currency, security problems and awareness among customers are anticipated challenges. Moreover, it was revealed that because of regulatory landscape and its connection to security threats the public considers cryptocurrency to have several challenges. The study concludes that the rate and intention to adopt cryptocurrency is still low in Tanzania and recommends the government and other financial institutions in the financial sector to set facilitating environment for cryptocurrency because it is a technology that is taking over in the finance sector in the near future.

THE EXTENT OF INTEGRATION OF THE GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE AND THE FATWA AND SHARIA SUPERVISORY BOARD IN LIMITING GAINS THAT DO NOT COMPLY WITH ISLAMIC LAW IN ISLAMIC BANKS CASE STUDY OF THE ARAB ISLAMIC BANK

The study aimed to identify the extent of the importance of the Governance Committee and its independence in Islamic financial and banking institutions and the Fatwa and Sharia Supervision Board and their integration in limiting non-compliant earnings with Islamic Sharia. This study gains its importance from the importance of the topic it deals with and the important implications it carries in limiting earnings that are not compatible with Islamic law and the future of Islamic banks in maximizing halal earnings and ending unlawful earnings through the Governance Committee and the Fatwa and Sharia Supervision Board and their integration in limiting earnings that are not compatible with Sharia And because it is one of the rare studies that dealt with the relationship of the independence of the Governance Committee and the involvement of the Fatwa and Sharia Supervisory Board to limit the profit that is not compatible with Islamic Sharia in Islamic banks. In order to achieve the desired goals of our study, a methodology based on an analysis of the direct credit financing returns in the Arab Islamic Bank was relied upon, and the returns that are not compatible with Islamic law from direct credit financing, comparing that revenue that resulted from direct credit financing with the revenues that are not compatible with Islamic law that resultedFor direct creditfinancing (vertical analysis) based onthe actual figures as stated in the financial statements of the Arab Islamic Bank The study also relied on an electronic questionnaire that was designed to suit the objectives and hypotheses of the study and was distributed to a sample of the study complex, where the study population (685 Arab Islamic Bank employees) and the total number of questionnaires received from employees reached 71 questionnaires, and the results were analyzed using the SPSS statistical analysis program. This study concluded with several results, the most important of which are: - There is a statistically significant effect of the existence of the Governance Committee on the reduction of non-sharia-compliant earnings in Islamic banks at the level of (α ≤ 0.05). - There is a statistically significant effect of the presence of the Fatwa and Sharia Supervisory Authority on the reduction of non-Sharia-compliant earnings in Islamic banks at the level of (α ≤ 0.05). - There is a statistically significant relationship between the Governance Committee and the Supervision and Fatwa Authority in Islamic banks to limit gains that are not compatible with Islamic Sharia. In order to reduce the profit incompatible with Islamic law in the financial and banking institutions, the researcher recommended the interest of Palestinian institutions and companies in applying governance on an expanded scale, as well as allocating an independent committee for governance, and not being satisfied with the presence of a governance committee integrated with other committees.And directing financial institutions to establish a Sharia Supervisory Authority that would have direct links with the Governance Committee. The researcher also recommended the support of the researchers to delve deeper into the study of governance as a legal oversight body and their impact on financial institutions and their results.It also encourages investmentin Islamic financial institutions because of their consolidation of the principles of Islamic financial law in halal earning. Universities and educational institutions design a master's program concerned with the study of Islamic governance.And providing government supportto Islamic banking and financial institutions by reducing taxes or fees, taking into account their expenses in accordance with Islamic Sharia and the controls of Sharia laws governing banking work. It also provides awareness programs for citizens about governance, its nature and benefits. And the government carrying out comprehensive programs to consolidate governance as a comprehensive way of life. In conclusion, Islamic banks and Islamic banking institutions carry out publication campaigns about their Islamic work system, the aspects of disbursing profits that are not compatible with Islamic Sharia, and the legal control methods used to limit the gain that is not compatible with Islamic Sharia

Purpose: This paper examines the effect of risk management practices on organizational performance and the mediating role of business model innovation in Nigeria.
 
 Design/Methodology/Approach: This research uses quantitative research methods. The paper uses a sample of 83 employees, with data collected through an online questionnaire using a Likert scale using a scale of 5, and the data was analyzed using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The stages of data analysis begin with testing the validity and reliability of the instrument, determination and finally testing the hypothesis.
 
 Findings: The results showed that practices for risk management and financial performance had a direct and large effect on financial performance. Furthermore, risk management practices are linked to non-financial performance. The result shows that business model innovation has a negative relationship with non-financial performance. It has a positive impact by meaningfully strengthening financial relationships; a partial mediating result was revealed for the relationship between risk management practices and non-financial behaviors.
 
 Practical implications: The results of this research can be used by government agencies and financial institutions to better comprehend the connection between BMI, risk management, and performance. Academics can use it to validate existing hypotheses and discover new ones.
 
 Original/Value: This research adds to the body of knowledge in the field of model development by illustrating the impact of risk management strategies and the mediating effect of business model innovation. In the Nigerian context, a lack of this might lead to inefficiencies in attaining organizational performance.
