Pengolahan dan Pemanfaatan Sampah Rumah Tangga di Lingkungan Desa Tanjung Baru Kecamatan Indralaya Utara Kabupaten Ogan Ilir

The waste problem in Tanjung Baru Village is not a disaster if waste management is managed properly. Good waste management must of course have good environmental management wisdom as well. Environmental wisdom can be seen from how humans treat; objects, plants, animals, and anything around them. This is what is then called ecological intelligence, namely how a person's understanding and knowledge are in understanding their environmental ecosystem, so that they can care about the environment they live in. Therefore, the village asked the PKM team of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sriwijaya University to provide some kind of guidance to the people of Tanjung Baru Village in utilizing household waste. The low level of public understanding regarding the utilization of household waste causes household waste to be simply thrown away. Household waste processing that has not received the touch of processing technology. This can be seen from the absence of households that process household waste into useful processed products. Efforts to transfer information on household waste processing and utilization technology through this PkM activity have resulted in increasing the motivation and attraction of the community to carry out an environmental care movement by processing and utilizing the household waste produced. The people of Tanjung Baru Village have started to select organic and non-organic waste. Organic waste such as vegetables and leaves are processed into organic fertilizer, while leftover food is given to pets such as chickens and ducks. For non-organic waste, it is collected and sold to collectors of used goods and some are reused for home decorations, for example plastic bottles used as a medium for planting vegetables.

Environmental management of the water supply of Cidade Universitária Prof. José da Silveira Netto (UFPA) and implementation model for granting water use

This study was carried out in the Prof. José da Silveira Netto University City, on the campus of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), on the evaluation of the environmental management of water supply and the normative status of models for granting the right to use water resources in the administrative body, the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainable Development (SEMAS/PA). The aim of the study is to propose necessary procedures for implementing a project to support good environmental management of urban sanitation systems, based on SEMAS/PA Normative Instruction no. 3 of March 26, 2014. The methodology was developed through documentary/bibliographical research and visits to the competent bodies (SEMAS/PA, CPRM and FEMAC) and technical visits to the sectors of the university city. The studies show that the process of environmental management of water resources and the model for granting water rights need to be improved from the outset. The water resource use on the campus of the Federal University of Pará should meet this requirement and comply with the applicable regulations and any technical conditions proposed by the competent environmental protection agency.

Environmental Control and Management Continuation Through the Ruling of the State Administrative Court

Changes in environmental law provisions that have the potential to cause inconsistencies in these decisions must be harmonized with the legal system. Without consistency in decisions regarding environmental public administration disputes, it will be difficult for the government to make decisions and guideline for determining policies related to environmental protection and management. The aim of this research is to determine the consistency of environmental administration dispute decisions in state administrative courts. The writing method uses a normative juridical approach with statutory regulations, the legal sources used are primary and secondary legal sources relating to state administrative law and those relating to environmental regulations, apart from that the author uses a case study approach. The results of the research show that the implementation of regulations related to state administrative decisions in the environmental sector is still inconsistent, with the government placing more emphasis on remedial (retroactive) efforts in environmental problems which are manifested in the form of government intervention to restore environmental conditions after pollution and/or damage occurs. environment. Considering that the majority of environmental law enforcement is in the field of government administration, inconsistencies in environmental state administration decisions must be resolved immediately to realize good environmental protection and management. In fact, the decision of the state administrative court judge is not only intended to resolve a dispute but will also serve as a guideline for government agencies/officials in realizing sustainable environmental protection and management.

Sosialisasi Dan Pemahaman Masyarakat Tentang Pembuatan Eco Enzyme Serta Pemanfaatannya Dalam Rumah Tangga

This service activity aims to ensure that participants understand the importance of managing household organic waste to overcome environmental problems, increase participants' understanding regarding eco-enzymes and their use in the household; increase participants' understanding regarding the materials used to make eco-enzymes in the household. This counseling was carried out at the Church of HKBP Nommensen Resort Pulu Brayan Medan, to 50 parompuan community (Church Women's Community) of the HKBP Pulu Brayan as participants, then an evaluation was carried out on the 25 participants. The method of this service activity is; socialization by resource persons; discussion and direct practice in making eco-enzymes and evaluation processes. Based on the outreach activities carried out, it was concluded; a) there was an increase in participants' understanding regarding eco-enzymes and their use in the household; b) there was an increase in participants' understanding regarding the materials used to make eco-enzymes in the household; c) socialization and training on making eco enzymes for parompuan community in church of the HKBP Nommensen Pulu Brayan plays a role in increasing participants' knowledge about eco-enzymes and the process of making them, good environmental management, and the use of waste into environmentally friendly products. Based on the conclusions, it is recommended that ongoing outreach activities be carried out and include all members of the church congregation, so that they can utilize organic waste into environmentally friendly products.

Good Environmental Governance Roles in Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Indonesia: A Review

Indonesia is an archipelagic country consisting of more than 17,500 islands. Urbanization and community agglomeration in urban areas in Indonesia are increasing the complexity of solid waste management in Indonesia. The old paradigm of 'collect-transport-disposal' waste management still occurs frequently in cities in Indonesia. This research is designed to be a systematic qualitative review. The relationships between good environmental governance and sustainable solid waste management are synthesized from a perspective of current conditions in Indonesia. The solution to sustainable waste management is generally carried out through well-organized waste management in an integrated manner from upstream to downstream with a 'cradle-to-grave' mindset, including the impacts that may arise therein. Implementing sustainable solid waste management requires commitment and support from all aspects of stakeholders. Good environmental governance is a comprehensive, dynamic, and complex concept that attempts to improve environmental conditions while promoting sustainable solid waste management. The results show that good environmental governance is very influential for sustainable solid waste management, but it still needs to be implemented optimally in Indonesia. Integration and synchronization of policies between the central government and local government must be further improved to implement good environmental governance.

Upaya Pengelolaan Lingkungan Akibat Bencana Banjir di Kecamatan Empang, Kabupaten Sumbawa

Indonesia is a country that is prone to natural disasters from a geological perspective. Based on information from the Head of the Information Data Center and Public Relations of the National Disaster Management Agency, natural disaster trends have increased by 350% in the last three decades. A significant increase is hydrometeorological disasters which are influenced by weather aspects, such as floods, landslides, tornadoes, and droughts. Sumbawa Regency is one of the areas in Indonesia that is being hit by an increasing trend of natural disasters. The most recent natural disaster that hit one of the Sumbawa Regency areas was the flood disaster in Empang District. The cause of flooding itself can occur due to various things both natural and human. Floods can be caused by natural events such as rainfall over a long period of time, soil flooding leaving only rocks, and no water absorption. Therefore it is essential to analyze the flood disaster that occurred in Empang District so that a good environmental management strategy can be carried out. The management carried out is to restore environmental functions that have been lost due to damage caused by the disaster. Installing drainage and implementing the Internet of Things in overcoming flooding is considered to be quite effective. The relocation and reclamation activities of corn plantation areas carried out by bioremediation and revegetation processes can improve land conditions.

Pembentukan Karakter Peduli Lingkungan Siswa pada Sekolah Adiwiyata (Studi Kasus di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Miftahul Ulum Kota Batu)

The adiwiyata program is a program that contains policies regarding environmentally sound schools as outlined in the Minister of Environment regulation no. 5 of 2013 concerning guidelines for the implementation of Adiwiyata. The Adiwiyata program aims to shape human character with environmental insight by creating an adequate environmental condition, both in science and in facilities and infrastructure related to good environmental management. Environmental care character is an attitude of caring for the environment by improving the quality of the environment, increasing school community awareness about the importance of caring for the environment and having initiatives to prevent environmental damage. The adiwiyata program is suspected of contributing to the formation of students' environmental care character. The purpose of this study was to analyze the formation of environmental care character of Madrasah Adiwiyata students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Miftahul Ulum in Batu City.This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research. The population of this research is all students of Madrasah Miftahul Ulum Batu City, while the research sample is 100 students in class VI. The data in the research is descriptive, which is presented in the form of words. Research data retrieval is done by observation, interviews and documentation.The results show that the environmental care character of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Miftahul Ulum students has been formed with indicators (a) Maintaining the cleanliness of the classroom and school environment, (b) Supporting the go green program in the school environment, such as taking care of plants and using sufficient electricity, (c) ) Sorting organic and non-organic waste along with differentiating its shelters, and (d) Maintaining the cleanliness of the bathroom, water and hand washing areas.Keywords: Adiwiyata, Care for the Environment

MONITORING DAN EVALUASI PENERAPAN SMK3L PADA PROYEK NESTLE BATIK AND SPARK GREENFIELD, BATANG INDUSTRIAL PARK

The construction industry is the largest contributor to the number of work accidents, it was increase almost every year. Based on accident data in 2021, there are 234,270 cases and claims issued by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan reached Rp. 1.79 thrillion. Project of industrial development The Nestle batik and spark greenfield factory located in Batang, Central Java has a high potential of work accidents. The research was conducted to evaluate the compliance of safety implementation with the safety, occupational health and environmental management system (SMK3L). This research excuted by using qualitative descriptive method and the research instruments referring to regulations issued by the National Construction Services Development Institute (LPJKN) in 2016 concerning monitoring and evaluating the implementation of construction SMK3 in the form of a Safety Performance Evaluation (SPE) Form, while primary data to be taken directly in the project by finding documentary evidence and/or real actions carried out by all workers at the project site. In accordance with the SPE, there are 5 criteria reviewed, namely Occupational safety and health commitment and policy, Occupational safety and health planning at the project level, Occupational safety and health implementation and operations, Occupational safety and health performance inspection and evaluation and Occupational safety and health review. Results of research and analysis achieved the level of compliance in implementing SMK3L in the Nestle Batik and Spark Greenfield Project reaches 92% or satisfactory criteria. Risk of work accidents can be prevented properly without affecting construction delay. It is suggested to the contractor to maintain the implementation of a good occupational health and environmental safety management system that has been implemented and improve some of which still implroperly implemented so that zero fatality and zero accident can be achieved.

One-dimensional analysis of underground water using geoelectric methods

The regional development issues in Tambang Kampar District that are most important to solve are environmental issues related to surface water potential and limited clean water. Environmental potential through good environmental management can become potential natural resources that can be utilized to support the regional economic sector. Groundwater potential needs to be studied and interpreted in the matrix of groundwater resource management through geophysical studies, namely by using the geoelectric method. This matrix will be able to provide solutions to environmental problems with the potential for fresh water in Tambang District, Kampar, thereby supporting economic growth in terms of meeting water needs. The material that is the object of research is underground water, and the aspects of research that will be studied include clean water exploration and environmentally friendly management patterns of potential underground water resources. The research location is Tambang District, Kampar, Riau Province. The targeted finding is an environmental management model of potential underground water resources in Tambang Kampar District using the Schlumberger rule geoelectrical method. Fundamental contributions to a field of science are geophysics and environmental science disciplines related to groundwater availability.

Pemanfaatan Limbah Ternak sebagai Media Pembuatan Bioinsektisida Berbahan Aktif Bacillus thuringiensis dalam Mendukung Pengendalian Hama Terpadu

Livestock waste becomes a problem and disturbs the community environment. In addition to the odor generated, it causes an unclean environment. Livestock waste is a problem for the people of Jungkal Village, Pampangan District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. Good environmental management must be a priority. Therefore, livestock waste must be utilized to create a healthy environment. The purpose of this activity was to explain the use of livestock waste as a medium to produce bio-insecticides made from the active Bacillus thuringiensis bacteria. The target community was a farmer group in Jungkal Village. Activities were carried out in two ways, namely socialization activities and practical activities to produce bio-insecticide with active B. thuringiensis. Preliminary data showed that farmers were aware that livestock waste causes discomfort. Handling both liquid and solid waste has yielded little results because, so far, farmers have only gotten rid of this waste without using it as a helpful product. After the community service activities were completed, 80% of the participants understood the benefit of livestock waste. With an intensive approach and assistance, farmer groups can receive new directions.

Implementing Effective Environmental Monitoring in Hazardous Waste Temporary Storage Facilities: A Step towards Sustainable Waste Management

Good environmental management is essential for sustainable development. Environmental monitoring at Temporary Shelters for Hazardous and Toxic Wastes (TPS B3) is an important step in preserving the environment and human health. B3 waste contains materials that have the potential to damage ecosystems and endanger living things if not managed properly. Environmental monitoring at TPS PLN UP3 Tanjung Karang Hazardous and Toxic waste aims to detect, prevent, and reduce the negative impacts caused by B3 waste on the environment. Monitoring methods may include sampling and analysis of wastewater, monitoring of air quality, and monitoring of leaks that may cause pollution. The results of laboratory tests revealed that the water content of the wastewater, the air quality at the TPS PLN UP3 Tanjung Karang Hazardous and Toxic waste were still below the environmental quality standards and there were no waste leaks that could cause pollution.

Environmental Management Expenditure and Fiscal Sustainability of South African Urban Municipalities: A Panel Data Model

Globally, instituting good environmental management practices within cities in developing countries is a climate-induced risk mitigation strategy. It is, however, an opportunity for local municipalities to achieve fiscal sustainability objectives and environmentally responsible decisions. Cash-constrained local municipalities are characterized by failures to balance environmental and financial needs, resulting in complex urban sustainability challenges. Therefore, this article examines the relationship between environmental management expenditure and fiscal sustainability (FS) in South African local municipalities to contribute to the debate concerning the sustainability of environmental protection projects in local municipalities. The study employed ordinary least squares and feasible generalized least squares to estimate coefficients of linear regression equations involving data collected from 30 local municipalities from 2012 to 2021. The results suggest that only wastewater and environmental protection expenditures positively impact FS, with solid waste management expenditure influencing the FS negatively. Lessons from the research will assist policymakers and municipal administrators in addressing environmental policy incoherence for the improved financial viability of environmental protection projects. Lastly, future research can focus on environmental data collection and reporting for improved and informed environmental protection decisions.

Scuba divers, coral reefs, and knowledge of ocean acidification

Ocean acidification (OA) poses a threat to coral reefs by increasing the fragility of susceptible corals to physical damage. As such, the impacts of dive tourism are likely to be exacerbated under acidified conditions. While evidence exists on the impacts of OA, research is scant on scuba divers’ knowledge of OA. The present study explored scuba divers (N = 75) awareness of threats to coral reefs, and factors which are important to the dive experience via an online survey. Responses revealed participants were least aware of OA than other threats to coral reefs. Almost half the participants had a basic understanding of OA, but a high level of concern about its impacts, highlighting an education opportunity for these already ‘concerned’ divers. Factors important to their dive experience included sites being located in a marine protected area / managed for conservation, and high diversity of coral with good quality and minimal disturbance. The findings indicated there are economic opportunities associated with good environmental management at coral reef dive sites, including through preferential site selection and willingness to pay a conservation levy. Recommendations for OA education and awareness initiatives and other regulatory and non-regulatory management strategies are discussed.

PENERAPAN PENGELOLAAN SAMPAH DAN LIMBAH DI HOTEL ROYAL AVILA MALIMBU, SEBAGAI UPAYA UNTUK MEWUJUDKAN PARIWISATA BERKELANJUTAN


 
 
 
 The problems studied in this study are related to environmental management at the Royal Avila Hotel Malimbu, with the aim of improving environmental management at the Royal Avila Hotel which is still not managed optimally, so that in the future sustainable tourism can be created at this hotel. The research method used is a qualitative approach. And data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations and documentation. The results of the stdy show that the Royal Avila Hotel itself in its environmental management, especially waste and waste, is still not optimal, for waste there is no separation of organic and non-organic waste and causes a foul smell in the TPA area (final disposal site) and for the waste itself, the management is also still not optimal, the program planned by management, namely using waste water to water plants, has not been implemented, the waste water has not been managed properly in the safety tank, only filtered and then the remaining fat from the grasetrap is disposed of in the TPA. So that to assist the Management in managing its own environment, cooperation with the Waste Bank is needed to manage waste and also cooperation with companies engaged in the safety tank so that they are given medicine and knowledge to manage the waste itself, so that waste water can be used to water plants that is at the hotel. So that in the future, if the Royal Avila Hotel has implemented good environmental management, it is hoped that it will be able to create sustainable tourism in this hotel.
 
 
 

Carp edema virus, a great threat for carp and koi farming in Henan, China

A carp disease with clinical signs of acute gill rot (AGR) has frequently occurred in Henan province of China since 2013, leading to substantial economic losses. However, the causative agent of virus-related carp AGR (CAGR) disease has been controversial. Our study showed that carp edema virus (CEV), specifically the sub-genogroup IIa, might be the primary agent causing virus-related CAGR that is endemic to Henan, China. This conclusion is based on a cohabitation experiment using isolates from an outbreak in 2019 and a retrospective analysis of CAGR samples collected between 2013 and 2015 in Henan, China. In the cohabitation experiment, the clinical development and pathological changes of CEV disease were observed. The pathological alterations in the fish brain were first noticed to be strongly associated with clinical signs of being sleepy, suggesting that pathological alterations in the fish brain may be a critical differential characteristic of CEV. Another important finding in our study was that the mortality in common carp and koi carp was strongly associated by a temperature change and less correlated to the viral loads in organs. Considering the frequent outbreaks of virus-related CAGR disease in Henan (China), effective prevention, good environmental stress management, and efficient diagnosis are needed. Based on comparing the qPCR and the nested PCR designed at the CEFAS Weymouth Laboratory, we recommend using the qPCR method on gills to identify this pathogen because of the assay's sensitivity and the viral load in gill tissues.

Analysis of Capital Budgeting Green Industry in Innovative and Sustainable Post-Mining Programs in Belitung Regency

Purpose: The main purpose of this article is to evaluate the feasibility of the re-mining project of the closure tin mine area which is then processed into silica products according to export specifications, which is simultaneous with the process of environmental management of the closure mining area. Theoretical framework: Determining the capital budgeting of the project, financial indicators: Payback Period, NPV, Profitable Index, Internal Rate Return, and Return of Investment, and sensitivity Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative approach will be used to analyze the capital budgeting calculations to build a green industry through re-mining and silica refinery activities in good environmental management, not only land rehabilitation and vegetation restoration activities but post-mining activities, however synergized through creating an innovative program. Findings: Based on the results of investment calculations, the development of this green industry was declared technically and financially feasible through the management of re-mining, production of silica, and structuring the ex-mining area into a productive green area with a budget commitment that was mutually agreed upon before this activity was carried out. Research, Practical & Social implications: The post-mining tin location in Belitung Province – Indonesia, still has the potential for non-metallic mineral content, which can be re-mined and refined for silica commodities. The ex-mining area was found to be still an open area and even barren, even though PT Timah Tbk has carried out environmental restoration activities. Originality/value: In the study of capital budgeting for re-mining and silica refineries, the sensitivity of the analysis to changes in fuel costs and changes in selling prices has also been calculated.

Environmental Sociology Approach From A Social Risk Perspective

Environmental problems are a problem for society and are problems that threaten the patterns of social organization that exist in society because environmental problems are human creations, so humans must also find a solution. Social risk is related to uncertainty. This uncertainty occurs due to the lack or unavailability of sufficient information about what will happen. The sociological perspective is part of environmental analysis and is very important because society and the environment cannot be separated. Humans are the worst environmental risk due to their inability to recognize environmental problems and their lack of effort to tackle them. However, humans are also the key to solving environmental problems. It is not impossible for humans to prepare for good environmental risk management from now on. Environmental problems are a reality that must be faced by all humans on earth today. For this reason, a critical analysis of the social risks to society is required. Based on a literature review, modernization through the mastery of technology and science has created a technocratic society where the risk of environmental damage becomes a disaster for mankind.

Monitoring the Spatial and Interannual Dynamic of Zostera noltei.

Seagrass is a vital structural and functional element of the marine environment worldwide and is highly valued for its ecological benefits. Monitoring the evolution of the seagrass habitat is essential to understand how this coastal ecosystem changes, and to develop good environmental management practices. For the present study, two remote sensing methods were used to map and monitor Zostera noltei Hornemann, 1832 (Z. noltei), in the Merja Zerga lagoon from 2010 to 2020. These methods which are the random forest algorithm and the object-oriented classification, were convenient to provide significant results. The first approach employed Sentinel-2 images from 2018 to 2020, which were used to extract information on changes in Z. noltei (commonly called dwarf eelgrass) distribution and aboveground biomass estimation. The second involved three orthophotography (orthophoto) mosaics from the years 2010, 2016, and 2018, which were analyzed to map the distribution of the species. It was revealed that Z. noltei coverage has increased by 212ha since 2010, with most of the growth occurring in the center and upstream part of the lagoon. The mean aboveground biomass of dwarf eelgrass in the lagoon was 78.5 DW/m² in 2018, 92.6 DW/m² in 2019, and 115.2g DW/m² in 2020. The approach used in this study has provided important insights into the dynamic and mean biomass of Z. noltei in the Merja Zerga lagoon. It is therefore a valuable, non-destructive method that uses freely-available Sentinel-2 satellite data.

Sustainable energy and environmental management practices in the recreation and tourism industries in Nsukka metropolis of Enugu State

Sustainable energy and good environmental management practices are potent factors that can be used to achieve clean energy and sustainable economic growth. This is a global problem that needs immediate action and intervention to reduce the adverse impact of climate change to humanity. This study investigated the sustainable energy and environmental management practices in the recreation and tourism industries in Nsukka metropolis of Enugu State. The descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of 209 recreation and tourism service providers in Nsukka Metropolis. Instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire which was validated by three experts from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The instrument has a reliability coefficient of 0.81. Frequency and percentages were used to determine level of sustainable energy and environmental management practices, while phi coefficient was used to determine relationship between sustainable energy and environmental management practices. Findings showed that recreation and tourism possess very low level of knowledge of sustainable energy use. They however showed positive attitude towards sustainable energy through the adoption of energy saving devices like energy bulbs, solar PVs etc. There is strong positive relationship between knowledge of sustainable energy and environmental management practices. The researchers recommended that government should improve on its effort to create awareness of sustainable energy use and environmental management practices among the populace if the problem of climate change is to be abated.
