In this work, detailed experimental and theoretical studies are performed on the optoelectronic properties of a Schiff base complex derived from a ninhydrin–glycine (NG) ligand with Al (III) metal. The good functionality and experimental results were confirmed by simulations. The complex shows absorption in the visible range and a blue emission. Furthermore, the charge transport investigation showed that Al–NG has good and balanced hole and electron mobilities equal to 8.44 $\times \,\,10^{-6}$ cm $^{2}\,\,\text{V}^{-1}\,\,\text{s}^{-1}$ and 7.10 $\times \,\,10^{-6}$ cm $^{2}\,\,\text{V}^{-1}\,\,\text{s}^{-1}$ , respectively. The favorable properties make Al–NG complex a promising candidate for the development of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) applications. Using these interesting characteristics, a numerical simulation is performed to have the predictive behavior of indium tin oxide (ITO)/Al–NG/Al OLED device. Finally, we present the effect of thickness and temperature on the OLED electric characteristics.
