By 2020, millennials (born between 1980 and 2000) will make up almost 50% of the nation's workforce, capturing the crown from the baby generation.1 There are many implications associated with the surge of this population in the workforce. Millennials grew up in an electronic era, navigating through their lives in an online environment with the height of sophistication in social networking. This group of individuals generally adapt easily to change, learning new operating systems and performing computer-based work more competently and more quickly than the X and boomer generations. Despite evidence that multitasking is ineffective, millennials seem to successfully pull it off.2 Comfort with social media means that millennials are savvy at self-promotion and nurturing connections through online media.
