The article delves into the cultural and historical specifics shaping the linguistic worldview of participants in special military operations (SVOs), as reflected in the modern media field. The most popular slang words and expressions among military personnel are identified and analyzed. The primary reasons for the use of war-related imagery, stemming from the implementation of a special operation in Ukraine, are characterized. Unofficial designations for weapons and other objects, enemies and civilian populations, locations of combatants and lines of demarcation of forces, as well as words and expressions related with death in war, are highlighted. Particular attention is paid to the comparative analysis of the imagery of frontline life during the Great Patriotic War and SVOs. The method of selective analysis of posts is used as the main method of researching posts in the virtual Telegram environment. The practical significance of the conducted research lies in the fact that the linguistic space created by front-line soldiers aids in understanding their mental world and values, as well as in establishing an inseparable link between different eras.
