Corrupt practices in Indonesia are a major problem that causes financial losses andundermines public trust in government and justice system. This phenomenon has become a widespreadsince pre independence till Reformasi era, and involves various levels of government. The mass mediaplays an important role in publicizing corruption cases, shaping public opinion, and influencing the political agenda. This study aims to analyze the framing of the news coverage of the Syahrul Yasin Limpo corruption case by Kompas.com from February 29 to May 10, 2024. The framing analysis method is used to observe how the media shapes reality and presents news, as well as identify power dynamics and relationships between the parties involved. The results of the study show that Kompas.com focus on certain aspects that affect the public's view of the case. Coverage of the issue of violations Religion and Belief Freedom during the pandemic is not free from the bias of journalists and mass media. The issue, which is reported inaccurately and sometimes tends to sharpen existing differences in society. It should then be able to provide an overview to the public on how to understand differences amidst the pandemic. Detik.com, as a popular mainstream online media in Indonesia, has the advantage of distributing news quickly. Coverage of the issue of violations is quite common in detik.com. This study focuses on examining how the news texts regarding the issue during pandemic are constructed by detik.com using the framing analysis method of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. In this study, the researcher uses the theory of the construction of social reality and views it from the perspective of Human Rights. This aims to see how detik.com constructs its news texts regarding the issue during the pandemic. Based on the research results, detik.com tends to be more biased towards the victims, as seen from most prominent structural units emphasized by detik.com when constructing news texts regarding the issue violations, such as headlines, leads, background information, quotes from sources, statements, details, and lexicon.

Posisi Media Online Tempo.co dan Kompas.com Pada Pemberitaan Kemungkinan Kaesang Bawa PSI Lolos Ambang Batas Parlemen untuk Pemilu 2024

Having failed in the 2019 elections due to a lack of votes, it is now the turn of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), finalizing its strategy to pass the parliamentary threshold. One of the ways PSI is doing this is by inviting Kaesang to join and make him the party chairman. With his electability as the son of the Indonesian president, Kaesang is believed to be able to deliver PSI to Senayan and sit in the Kursi DPR in the 2024 elections. However, will Kaesang really be able to bring PSI to Senayan. This study aims to explore how the news framing formed by Tempo.co and Kompas.com on the possibility of Kaesang bringing PSI to Senayan. Tempo.co and Kompas.com were chosen because these two media are quite active in reporting Kaesang from different perspectives. This research combines descriptive qualitative methodology with a framing analysis method based on the Zhongdang pan Gerald kosicki model taken from each Tempo.co and Kompas.com news coverage on September 27, 2023. The results of this study show that Tempo.co considers that the presence of Kaesang as chairman is able to deliver PSI through parliament. While Kompas.com, this media actually doubts Kaesang in leading the party. It considers that Kaesang will not be able to bring PSI without the help of people who are experienced and understand politics.

Structural characteristics of foreign language communicative competence of the modern specialist in the pedagogical concepts of Ukrainian and German scientists

The article offered is devoted to an attempt to analyse the structural framework of foreign language communicative competence (the FLСC) of the modern specialist in the pedagogical concepts of German and Ukrainian specialists. The aim of the paper is to consolidate the research positions of German and Ukrainian scholars in the field of educational sciences on the structure of the FLСC which is conditioned by the solution of the tasks of studying the theoretical basis of the competence approach in the modern education. The object matter of the research is the FLСC itself, and the subject matter comprises its structural features in view of the conceptual grounds of Ukrainian and German educators. The methodological basis of the work are general scientific methods like those of analysis and synthesis, comparison and contrast, as well as the narrow scientific method of frame analysis which allows to build an integrated structural characteristics of the FLСC. The study found that Ukrainian and German scholars have the same understanding of the essence of competence as the root element of the competence-based approach to education which is perceived as unity of theory and practice, whilst the FLСC is interpreted as a set of professional elements of knowledge which includes skills and abilities for the effective use of a foreign language by a communicator in a particular situation in order to achieve communication results deriving also from the extralinguistic factors. A special theoretical premise of the German- language professional literature is the close correlation of the FLСC with the learner’s native language communicative competence and translation sub-competence. The elements of the FLСC can include not only language and speech components, but also extralinguistic components, as well as situational knowledge because in the process of learning a foreign language other skills are acquired that depend on the content of education and are of an interdisciplinary nature.

Isu Keberpihakan dalam Pemilihan Presiden 2024 (Analisis Framing Berita Makan Malam Jokowi dan Prabowo di Tempo.co Edisi 5 - 7 Januari 2024)

The meeting between President Jokowi and Minister of Defense Prabowo at a dinner on January 5 2024, is suspected of Jokowi's political neutrality in the 2024 presidential election which is increasingly being questioned. This issue of partiality has been widely reported by online media, one of which is Tempo.co. The news selection was chosen on 5 - 7 January 2024 with the consideration that at that time the third presidential candidate debate would be held on 7 January 2024. So, the momentum of Jokowi and Prabowo's dinner was allegedly a form of covert support from President Jokowi for the presidential candidate Prabowo who will face the debate. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a constructivist paradigm. Researchers framed news about Jokowi and Prabowo's dinner on Tempo.co using Robert N Entman's framing analysis method. The results of this research show that Tempo.co framed the issue of partiality in the 2024 presidential election in the Jokowi and Prabowo dinner news by reporting balanced information. This is proven by the existence of news information that contains pro and con parties in this report. This also shows that Tempo.co strives to maintain neutral news balance and has implemented Bill Kovach's journalistic elements of broadcasting comprehensive and proportional news.

Political News Framing Approach at Detik.com: Analysis of the 2024 Presidential Election Results Dispute

This research aims to find out the analysis of framing (framing/packaging) political news in online media Detik.com regarding the news of the dispute hearing of the 2024 presidential election results. To answer this problem, the framing method of the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M Kosicki model was used. This research is included in qualitative. The data analysis used in this study was media text analysis using the framing analysis method using the Zhong Dang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki model approach. The reserch results show that detik.com, in reporting news uses the inverted pyramid technique. Where the main topic of discussion discussed in the news is stored at the beginning of the news. In addition, there are several data obtained by news writers from the statements of sources to be used as data sources. The news structure uses 5W+1H, and the source does not throw many quotes.

Media Online Lokal dalam Menerapkan Jurnalisme Pariwisata (Studi Pada Media Online Lokal Bengkulu Ekspress)

Tourism journalism is a journalism practice that aims to report on tourist destinations in an area, both for promotion and information. The development of online media in the country is increasingly rapid, making online media ideal as the first platform for searching for information about tourist destinations in a place as well as information on available facilities and infrastructure. Bengkulu Ekspress as a pioneer of online media in Bengkulu Province has some of which are about tourism. The aim of this research is to find out how tourism journalism is implemented on the Bengkulu Ekspress online media channel. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method which describes the results of observations seen from the research object using the framing analysis method. The results of this research explain that Bengkulu Ekspress implements tourism journalism by applying a special rubric entitled Bengkulu Tourism and Culinary Tourism and the locality of the news presented by Bengkulu Ekspress.com makes news about tourist destinations more specific to the Bengkulu Province area only. Apart from that, Bengkulu Ekspress also provides information about accommodation and transportation with narratives that attract readers to imagine their travel estimates in tourism journalism reporting.

Framing Analysis: Do Illegal Online Loans Have Fraud

This study aims to examine how the framing of news illegal online loan fraud in online mass media which is then used as information to find out the causes of the fraudulent practices. The Pan and Kosicki framing analysis method, which was extended with the fraud hexagon theory, were used. The sites in this study were online mass media, particularly tribunnews.com and kompas.com, reporting cases of fraud committed by illegal online lending companies. The results of the framing analysis on the news published by Tribunnews.com show that illegal online lending companies have committed fraudulent practices to their customers and their existence is very disturbing to the public. Kompas.com uses a more preventive method by revealing the ways that the people should do to avoid these traps and fraud. The results of the analysis using the fraud hexagon theory show that fraudulent practices committed by illegal online lending companies are caused by pressure from capital owners, information technology capabilities owned, broad market opportunities, rationalization that people need fast funds, ego, and binding agreements as a form of collusion. The increasing role of the government in providing protection for the public in online transactions is an important implication of this research.

This research aims to find out how the framing was carried out by CNNIndonesia.com in reporting on the murder case of Brigadier J, July 11-12 2022 edition. This research uses a qualitative description approach with Robert N Entman's framing analysis method, where Entman's framing analysis includes four stages: Define problem , Diagnose cause, Make moral Judgment, and Treatment recommendation. The results of the research show that, Define problem, disclosure of the murder case of Brigadier J. Diagnose cause is that the police believe that Brigadier J's death was motivated by sexual harassment towards the wife of the Head of the National Police Propam Division, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo. Make a moral judgment where the police emphasize Brigadier J's immoral behavior and temperament which has sexually harassed Ferdy Sambo's wife. Reality Framing in Russian, English, and Chinese Phraseological Units with Flowers

Floriography is part of many cultures and provides an effective characterization means for a particular linguistic culture. The frame analysis method is a popular tool in phraseology, but it has never been applied to phraseological units with the flowers component. The study examined phraseological units with the flowers component in Russian, English, and Chinese in order to define their role in the corresponding linguistic worldviews. The frame organization analysis made it possible to identify the way these languages categorize reality. Phraseological units with flowers are more typical of Chinese and English; they are less typical of the Russian linguistic culture as a result of the harsh climatic conditions and the farming traditions. In this research, the frame analysis hinted at similar cognitive processes in all the three linguistic cultures, which was manifested as common subframes at all levels. The main subframes included characteristics of the subject, action aimed at the subject, qualitative assessment of reality, and evaluative characteristics of the action. In addition, flower names described different human qualities, characterized an ongoing event, and evaluated actions performed by the subject. Differences were registered at the slot level as a partially overlapping list of qualities, assessments, characteristics, and actions, which reflected the specifics of each national worldview. The results can facilitate intercultural communication for Russian, English, and Chinese speakers.

Media Framing of Kaesang Pangerep’s PSI Chairmanship by Tribunnews.com

Media undeniably has a great influence in the political sphere today. The interdependence between media and politics is an interesting discussion because it should be an institution that disseminates information neutrally, no tendency to certain groups. However, today’s media in Indonesia exacerbates the phenomenon of political mediatization. This study aims to provide new insights into how Tribunnews.com uses framing to shape political narratives in the context of news coverage of Kaesang Pangarep’s rise to the leadership of PSI party. This study combines qualitative methodology with the framing analysis method based on the theories of Gerald Kosicki and Zhongdang Pan. It examined the Tribunnews.com report, edition September 30th 2023 titled “Observer Suspects Megawati’s Anger over Kaesang Joining PSI”. Tribunnews.com was chosen because the news was only reviewed from the observer’s side. Hence, this research attempted to reveal how Kaesanng’s rise to the leadership of the PSI party was framed by Tribunnews.com. The results of the research based on the Zhongdang Pan and Kosicki model demonstrated that Tribunnews.com constructed Megawati’s alleged anger, yet the news was not followed with reliable sources for balanced reporting. Tribunnews.com also mediatized the use of bombastic titles and content to increase news appeal. This requires a public concern because the media, which should act as the fourth pillar of democracy, instead tend to mediatize the news only for attaining public attention.

Cycle Bases of Graphs for the Analysis of Frames Structures Using Force Method

The formation of suitable cycle bases corresponding to sparse flexibility matrices for the force method of frame analysis has always been an interesting problem in structural mechanics. These cycle bases are needed for the formation of static bases for efficient force method of structural analysis. Similarly, such bases are required in the mesh analysis of other networks. This paper reviews methods for the cycle basis selection by utilizing different embeddings on higher dimensional topological spaces, and using the ideas and concept from this study, graph theory algorithms are developed for efficient computational algorithms for the formation of subminimal, and minimal cycle bases.

FRAMING ANALYSIS OF THE CAUSES OF CARNIVAL ACCIDENTS IN PACET MOJOKERTO IN ONLINE NEWS USING THE ENTMAN MODEL

Traffic accidents occur due to human factors that do not comply with established regulations. This results in losses for many people, namely traffic jams and loss of property. A carnival accident occurred in Pacet, Mojokerto, because the brakes failed on a tanker truck that was transporting water. This research aims to conduct a framing analysis of the reporting on the causes of the carnival accident in Pacet Mojokerto using the analytical framework. . The framing analysis method uses the Entman models with a qualitative descriptive approach used to determine problem definitions, causes of problems, moral evaluations, recommendations for solutions and through important elements. This research shows that the existence of online media, especially news, can influence people's views or opinions. Taliban’s Resurgence in Afghanistan: The Frame Analysis of Editorials from Selected Pakistani Newspapers

The resurgence of the Afghan Taliban on 15th August 2021 created great tension in the whole world and made the topic debatable all over the world. The present research analyzes the discourse produced on this highly debatable topic. The study entails the frame analysis of the discourse produced in the selected Pakistani editorials. For this purpose, two Pakistani newspapers are selected i-e Dawn and The Express Tribune. The sample is purposive and comprises six editorials, three from each selected newspaper. The sample of the study is taken from 15th August 2021- 31st December 2021. The research is qualitative and the data is analyzed using the Frame Analysis method given by Goffman (1974), and Entman (1993). The in-depth analysis of the study reveals that the Pakistani newspapers’ editorials somehow talk in favor of the Taliban. They frame the event positively while giving recommendations to the Taliban for the bright future of their government. The research is therefore significant because it contributes to the field of linguistics and Frame Analysis.

Bullying is Never Ending: Construction of Reporting on Cases of Bullying in Schools

The case of bullying that occurred at SMPN 16 Malang and affected MS became a topic of discussion in various media, including online media. In reporting a case, media is a reality construct. A number of pros and cons become interesting perspectives raised in the media, including radarmalang.jawapos.com. This study aims to find out how the reporting construction is on news content related to the bullying case that occurred on MS student at SMP 16 Surabaya using the framing analysis method according to Zhongdan Pan & Konsicki. The research results mention that the news construction made by radarmalang.jawapos.com tends to take the side of the government and related institutions and the media tends to bully the school. This is proven by the five news analyzed, none of which highlights the clarification or defense from the school. Radar Malang tends to raise topics that blame the school and the authorities (government, education, culture and arts department, KPAI) framed as if washing their hands of this case. The images selected to accompany the journalism news also tend to put the school in a corner. Radar Malang also tends to overly protect the perpetrators of bullying acts with more subtle diction choices.

News Framing of Assets of Trading Victim Indra Kenz Seized by the State

This research aims to understand how the TVOneNews television media constructs news about the fate of the assets of the victim of illegal trading on Binomo, Indra Kenz, being seized by the state. Because Indra Kenz, the victim of illegal trading on Binomo, was judged as a gambler by the judge, and the assets were confiscated by the state. According to experts in the Anti-Money Laundering Act (TPPU), there were no gambling charges filed, only charges of money laundering against Indra Kenz. The purpose of this research is to examine how the "Apa Kabar Indonesia Malam" program on tvOneNews constructs the issue of justice for the victim regarding the judge's decision to label them as a gambler. The research uses Robert N. Entman's framing analysis method and a qualitative research approach with a constructivist perspective. It is analyzed through four elements, including defining the problem, diagnosing causes, making moral judgments, and providing treatment recommendations. Data collection techniques involve video documentation from special reports on the "Apa Kabar Indonesia Malam" program. The research results indicate that mass media is a loaded industry and a business institution that is not always objective. Therefore, the outcomes of mass media, such as TV programs and news texts, are influenced by media personnel and ownership. Here, Putri Viola on "Apa Kabar Indonesia Malam" constructs the issue of justice for victims of illegal trading on Binomo, Indra Kenz, for law enforcement purposes.

The Image of Islam in Foreign Media Frames Facing the Spread of Covid-19 Pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on various aspects of life, including religious practices. In the realm of foreign media, Islam has often been portrayed negatively, particularly in political news. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, which began in 2020 and continues to the present, the media has actively covered all aspects related to Covid-19, including those related to Islamic religious practices. However, the image of Islam presented in these media reports is not always as negative and intimidating as it is often portrayed. This study aims to explore how the image of Islam is portrayed in foreign media during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research utilizes the Robert N Entman framing analysis method to thoroughly analyze the underlying messages conveyed in foreign media news concerning Islam’s image amid the pandemic. Three news texts from different foreign online media sources; theconversation.com, print.in, and cnn.com, were examined. The analysis of the three news texts reveals that foreign media presents a positive image of Islam in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic from various perspectives. These perspectives include highlighting Islamic hygiene practices, the attitudes of adherents towards health measures, and other aspects of worship traditions.

Framing Detik.com dalam Pemberitaan Penganiayaan David

The widespread news coverage of an assault case committed by Mario Dandy against the victim David has attracted public attention. This news has elicited various responses from the public towards the behavior of the son of the director general of taxes Rafael Alun Trisambodo, so many media outlets have reported this case from different perspectives. This study aims to find out the news framing (framing) about David's assault on Detik.com. This study uses a qualitative approach with Robert N. Entman's framing analysis method. With this method, the researcher found that Detik.com focused more on the motive and chronology of the assault, background, and identity of the perpetrator and victim. In addition, Detik.com is suspected of giving special treatment to AG or Agnes by disguising her identity and showing a child legal justice system that is unfair and ineffective. Furthermore, Media Detik.com reported the violence experienced by David as an intolerable act, especially if the assault occurred to a woman. Media detik.com also gave different coverage by bringing various sources in each news. As a suggestion, Detik.com should be careful in writing news so as not to be wrong in facts. In addition, news readers should be alert when reading the news because a wide insight is needed to understand the case reported by online media.

Simplified Method for Nonlinear Seismic Response Analysis of Corroded Pile-Supported Wharf

Fiber-based finite element analysis (FB-FEA) has been widely recognized for its ability to reproduce experimental results and is also a reliable method for evaluating the nonlinear seismic response of pile-supported wharves (PSWs). Design practice often employs frame analysis (FA) due to its easy implementation. To precisely reproduce the nonlinear seismic response of PSW using FA, it is necessary to configure mechanical properties such as the hinge property correctly. However, it is unclear whether the hinge properties proposed in previous studies can be applied to PSWs with spun piles. In this study, a novel FA method was developed to investigate the nonlinear seismic response of PSWs with corroded spun piles considering PC bar area reduction, deteriorated material properties, the bending stiffness reduction factor, and the moment–curvature relationship of the spun pile. The nonlinear seismic response of corroded PSWs was determined by performing pushover analysis using three methods: FA using the method of the previous study (FA-1), the proposed FA method (FA-2), and FB-FEA. As regards PSW foundations, vertical pile and batter pile configurations were considered. The pushover analysis results were compared in terms of several parameters, such as the natural period, plastic hinge formation, and load capacity of the corroded PSWs. The FA-2 results agreed very well with the FB-FEA results, while the FA-1 results were less precise with respect to the natural periods and load capacities of corroded PSWs. The results indicated that the bending stiffness reduction factor, moment–curvature relationship, and axial load–bending moment (P–M) capacity of the corroded spun piles should be appropriately defined. Corrosion had greater negative impacts on the compressive axial load and bending moment capacities of the spun pile than on its tensile axial load capacity.
