Impact of E-commerce on Small and Medium Enterprises: A Case Study of Developing Countries

This study investigates the impact of e-commerce adoption on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. E-commerce has rapidly transformed global business landscapes, offering SMEs new avenues for market expansion and operational efficiency. However, its adoption among SMEs in developing countries varies significantly due to technological, infrastructural, and socio-economic barriers. This research employs a qualitative case study approach to explore how SMEs in select developing countries have navigated challenges and leveraged opportunities presented by e-commerce. The findings highlight the transformative effects of e-commerce on business models, market reach, and competitive positioning within local and international markets. Moreover, the study identifies critical success factors and barriers to e-commerce adoption, offering insights for policymakers, business owners, and stakeholders aiming to foster sustainable growth and economic development through digital commerce initiatives.

Talking Tourist Places, as the Innovative Platform in Tourism (Marneuli Municipality)

The project EU4Business-Connecting Companies, managed by Euro-chambers and funded under the EU4Business initiative of the European Union, launched in 2009 to deepen and strengthen relations between the European Union (EU), its Member States, and its six Eastern neighbors (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine) (EU4Business, n.d.) The project involved collaborating with two organizations: "Travel Agency Saba" in Tbilisi, Georgia, and "Movimento Life Beyond Tourism-Travel to Dialogue Srl Soc. Ben" in Florence, Italy. The primary goal of this collaboration was to promote cross-border cooperation and create a platform for joint activities and projects aimed at promoting tourism products at both local and international levels. One specific initiative mentioned was the implementation of the "Talking Places" program in specific Georgian heritage sites. The project also involved establishing agreements with local administrations to support these initiatives. The research project titled "Marneuli Municipality Talking Tourist Places as a Tool for Green Economy of the Community" was oriented on the Kvemo Kartli region (Marneuli Municipality). The project included various research activities, such as conducting a needs assessment in the tourism sector. The ultimate aim was to encourage the local community to follow Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), create an eco-friendly environment, use a storytelling platform to promote local culture, and contribute to the international attractiveness of the region. Financial support for this initiative was guided by HEKS-EPER Georgia and the European Union. The project aimed to increase the average stay of visitors, enhance the visibility of less-known destinations, and promote cultural mindfulness and typical local products. Overall, it appeared to be a comprehensive effort to foster sustainable tourism development and economic growth in the target region.

Sustainable forest development in the face of global warming: Optimizing Robinia pseudoacacia L. stands to alleviate soil moisture depletion

To foster sustainable forest development amid global warming, it is imperative to enhance the quality of existing forest stands while avoiding excessive depletion of soil moisture. This study established 24 Robinia pseudoacacia L. standard plots (40 × 40 m2) in the Caijiachuan watershed, located in the gully region of the Loess Plateau, Shanxi Province, China, to monitor soil moisture content from 2007 to 2021. Additionally, the study examined the influence of 19 ecological factors, including climate, topography, and stand characteristics, on soil moisture. The findings indicated a sustained decline in soil moisture storage across the 0–200 cm soil profile, with significant depletion at 0–140 cm. The soil moisture content at depths of 80–200 cm was critically low, resulting in a “dry soil layer” during years with low precipitation. Climatic factors (average annual temperature and annual precipitation) and stand factors (uniform angle index, stand density, litter thickness, and Simpson diversity index of the shrubs) emerged as dominant factors impacting soil moisture variations. An increase in average annual temperature due to global warming, compounded by suboptimal stand density, primarily drove soil moisture depletion. Using a multivariate optimization equation to model the relationship between dominant factors and soil moisture storage, this study recommends a dynamic stand management strategy. This strategy involves selective thinning or replanting of Robinia pseudoacacia L. trees, targeting a gradual reduction in optimal stand density from 1500 to 1000 plants·ha−1 over the next two decades. Additionally, transitioning stand spatial arrangements from uniform or clustered to random distributions, maintaining ideal litter thickness (2.43–2.47 cm), and enhancing shrub diversity are advisable. Such measures can alleviate soil moisture deficits in Robinia pseudoacacia L. stands attributable to global warming, thereby promoting the Loess Plateau's sustainable forestry advancement.

International and National Mechanisms Combating Ecosystems’ Damage and Environmental Crimes to Foster Sustainable Development

This article examines international and national mechanisms for combating crime against the environment. Arguments are presented to add the crime of ecocide into the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, as well as to create a special international human rights tribunal that can potentially hear cases related to ecocide. A number of bodies, programs, international networks, and transnational non-governmental non-profit organizations should be promoted to directly or indirectly aim at combating crime against the environment. At the same time, the necessity of adopting a comprehensive approach to the international cooperation among these institutions and law enforcement agencies is warranted, given contemporary challenges and threats, in particular with Interpol, a robust institutional framework to combating environmental crime. The importance of establishing universal national and interstate mechanisms for the restoring and preserving ecosystems to combat environmental crimes effectively is underscored. These international regulations should be recognized through relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly and other international documents. A conceptual inference drawn is the imperative for comprehensive national measures to combat ecocide, including the development of cohesive state policies, the establishment of an effective environmental monitoring system, and the documentation of incurred damages.

Optimizing Accounting for Data Assets Helpful To Developing Sustainable Regional Economies

This paper aims to develop accounting methods for data assets helpful to developing sustainable regional economic development within the digital economy. By considering data-asset characteristics such as virtuality and sharing, it proposes accounting treatments and processes for data-asset evaluation and management. Through a case study of Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd., the optimized method is evaluated. Results show a 70% increase in data-asset valuation compared to intangible assets, with a 17.8% growth in total profits. The method reduces asset-management costs by 3.67% and amortization by CN¥98,600. These findings highlight the importance of optimizing accounting methods for data assets able to foster sustainable regional economic development in the digital-economy era.

The Spatiotemporal Decoupling Relationship between Economic Development, Energy Consumption, and Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Xinjiang Province from 2006 to 2020

Understanding the spatiotemporal decoupling effects among economic development, energy consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions is paramount to achieving sustainable development. This relationship sheds light on how regions can grow economically while managing their energy resources efficiently and minimizing environmental impacts. This study examines the critical and globally relevant issue of spatiotemporal decoupling that includes economic development, energy consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions in Xinjiang Province from 2006 to 2020. The Tapio Elasticity Analysis Method is utilized to achieve this objective. We found that the early years showed expansive coupling, reflecting a phase where economic growth was closely tied to increases in energy consumption and emissions. However, over time, particularly post-2010, there is a noticeable shift towards weak decoupling and eventually to more substantial forms of decoupling. The primary sector displayed mostly weak and strong decoupling. The secondary sector, however, showed fluctuating decoupling states. In the tertiary sector, a generally weak decoupling was observed. A spatial analysis across Xinjiang’s prefectures and cities revealed pronounced regional variations. This investigation validates the effectiveness of regional ecological policies and illustrates the necessity of tailored strategies to foster sustainable development. Our findings provide valuable insights not only for regional policymakers but also for international stakeholders aiming to achieve sustainable development. The results underline the importance of tailored strategies in different regions, contributing to the broader understanding of sustainable development dynamics.

Khartoum War's echoes in oil and energy sectors: Economic and environmental implications for Sudan and South Sudan

The energy sector is a main driver of African growth, particularly in regions with geopolitical conflicts like Sudan and South Sudan. The oil and gas industry notably influences these regions' economy, politics, humanitarian situation, and social stability. This study seeks to investigate how the Khartoum War affected the energy sector of both Sudan and South Sudan, particularly looking at the disruptions caused by recent conflicts and their impact on oil production, economic stability, and environmental conditions. The study employs a multi-disciplinary approach, utilising different sources such as regional legal agreements, government reports, academic articles, and press releases from international organisations. The key methodology includes qualitative analysis of several documents and quantitative assessment of production data and economic reports. The study's key findings show a significant decline in oil production and transportation due to the shutdown of key oilfields and pipelines, intensifying economic and humanitarian crises. Additionally, the damage to oil infrastructure has presented serious environmental risks, highlighting the delicate balance between resource management and regional stability. In conclusion, the study's findings underscore the intense impact of the Khartoum War on the energy sector of Sudan and South Sudan, and the urgent need for policy recommendations to mitigate these effects and foster sustainable development.

Mobile payments and money technologies in sustainable development: a systematic literature review and computer-assisted interpretive analysis

ABSTRACT Mobile Money (MM) and Mobile Payments (MP) have become levers of growth. They drive economic, social, and Sustainable Development (SD). Despite the rich literature on MM and MP, we need more synthesis that cover their contributions as forms of Information and Communications Technologies for Development (ICT4D). We explored MM/MP as ICT4D through a systematic literature review coupled with a Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) approach. The data analyses revealed that publications have increased significantly since 2018. Financial inclusion is the most studied area. It's studied for its contribution to SD. We also need to study these technologies’ effects on SD. This includes their effects on society and the environment. We propose a research agenda regarding these technologies at individual, organizational, country, regional, and global levels of analysis. It can help to find how these ICT4D improve people’s lives and foster sustainable development.

Succession characteristics of phytoplankton functional groups and ecological assessment in a cold spring-type urban lake, China.

Phytoplankton functional groups have been increasingly utilized in elucidating and predicting the response of phytoplankton species to environmental conditions and seasonal succession in various aquatic systems including lakes, rivers and reservoirs. However, it is still unclear whether the trait-based functional classification can be applied to spring-type lakes. To understand the temporal and spatial characteristics of phytoplankton functional groups and their responses to environmental factors in spring-type urban lake in northern China, an investigation was conducted in Daming Lake from May 2020 to September 2021. The findings revealed the identification of 98 phytoplankton taxa belonging to 6 phyla, predominantly being Chlorophyta (39.8%), Bacillariophyta (35.7%) and Cyanophyta (15.3%). The dominant species were Microcystis sp., Merismopedia minima, Synedra acus and Scenedesmus quadricauda. These phytoplankton taxa were categorized into 21 functional groups, with 6 dominant functional groups (abbreviated as D, MP, P, J, Lo, and W1). Among them, the functional group D, primarily constituted by S. acus, exhibited absolute predominance. The seasonal succession sequence of the dominant functional groups was as follows: D/P/J/MP/ Lo →→ D/P/W1/MP/Lo/J → D/P/J → D/MP → D/P/MP. Throughout the investigation period, the trophic level index (TLI) ranged from 39.10 to 71.13, and the Q index was from 1.91 to 2.91, both indicating a medium health state for Daming Lake, which was consistent with the evaluation results of the diversity index. The results of redundancy analysis revealed that the main driving factors of phytoplankton FG biomass and composition were water temperature (WT), total nitrogen (TN), transparency (SD), TN:TP (N:P), redox potential (ORP), chemical oxygen demand (CODMn) and pH. The dominance of the functional group D positively correlated with water temperature, TN, CODMn, pH and N:P but negatively correlated with SD. It was observed that functional groups and the Q index can objectively indicate the seasonal succession of phytoplankton and the water quality status of Daming Lake. Our discoveries have significant implications for the comprehension of the effects of urbanization on phytoplankton dynamics and for enhancing lake management practices to foster sustainable urban development.

Advanced Integration of Urban Street Greenery and Pedestrian Flow: A Multidimensional Analysis in Chengdu’s Central Urban District

As urbanization accelerates, urban greenery, particularly street greenery, emerges as a vital strategy for enhancing residents’ quality of life, demanding attention for its alignment with pedestrian flows to foster sustainable urban development and ensure urban dwellers’ wellbeing. The advent of diverse urban data has significantly advanced this area of study. Focusing on Chengdu’s central urban district, this research assesses street greening metrics against pedestrian flow indicators, employing spatial autocorrelation techniques to investigate the interplay between street greenery and pedestrian flow over time and space. Our findings reveal a prevalent negative spatial autocorrelation between street greenery and pedestrian flow within the area, underscored by temporal disparities in greenery demands across various urban functions during weekdays versus weekends. This study innovatively incorporates mobile phone signal-based population heat maps into the mismatch analysis of street greenery for the first time, moving beyond the conventional static approach of space syntax topology in assessing pedestrian flow. By leveraging dynamic pedestrian flow data, it enriches our understanding of the disconnect between street greening plans and pedestrian circulation, highlighting the concept of urban flow and delving into the intricate nexus among time, space, and human activity. Moreover, this study meticulously examines multiple street usage scenarios, reflecting diverse behavior patterns, with the objective of providing nuanced and actionable strategies for urban renewal initiatives aimed at creating more inviting and sustainable urban habitats.

Psychological contract and turnover intention in luxury hotels

Human resources are critical assets in the hotel industry, and retaining employees is crucial for the sustainable development of hotels. To reduce employee turnover, the study aims to explore the role of psychological contract and emotional labor on turnover intention. Data from an online survey of 743 employees of luxury hotels in China were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results show that employer relational psychological contracts (p < 0.001), employee relational psychological contracts (p < 0.001), and employer transactional psychological contracts (p < 0.01) have an impact on turnover intentions. The study also finds that employee transactional psychological contracts (p > 0.05) do not affect turnover intentions. Furthermore, employee-employer relational psychological contracts (p < 0.01) significantly influence emotional labor, whereas employer transactional psychological contracts (p > 0.05) do not. Emotional labor (p < 0.01) significantly affects turnover intentions. The connection between psychological contracts and turnover intentions is also mediated by emotional labor. These results imply that luxury hotels should prioritize employees’ emotional well-being, create a harmonious work environment, and enhance employee loyalty. This paper provides valuable insights that may reduce turnover and foster sustainable development within the hospitality sector.

The Status of Strategic Environmental Assessment in Tanzania

Abstract Tanzania is one of the few African countries to formally adopt strategic environmental assessment (SEA) to integrate environmental factors into strategic actions and foster sustainable development. However, nearly two decades later, SEA development remains premature. This paper investigated the current state of the Tanzanian SEA system. More specifically, it examined the extent of practice and analyzed the SEA’s systems strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT s). Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, policy documents, literature review, and a workshop and analyzed thematically. The analysis reveals limited SEA use between 2004 and 2021. The SWOT analysis provides insights into the internal and external conditions driving SEA implementation in Tanzania, opening a window for SEA stakeholders to grasp the challenges and prospects. Based on the SWOT s identified, the author has proposed policy actions to advance SEA in Tanzania. The research contributes to the global SEA stocktaking efforts and ongoing refinement and continuous improvement of SEA systems in Tanzania and comparable jurisdictions.

Analysing FDI inflow effects on CO2 emissions: a comparative study of OECD and BRICS nations with PHH and PHE models

Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the correlation between foreign direct investment (FDI) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in emerging economies, with a particular emphasis on Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) countries along with 10 the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development nations. Design/methodology/approach This study uses quantitative research methods and econometric analysis to investigate the relationship between FDI inflows and CO2 emissions in selected countries. Specifically, the research concentrates on assessing the impact of FDI on CO2 emissions within the BRICS countries. By examining data spanning from 2000 to 2003, the study aims to shed light on the interaction between economic integration and environmental sustainability dynamics on a global scale. Findings The results of this study highlight notable contributors to CO2 emissions within the BRICS countries, identifying Switzerland, Denmark and the UK as significant sources. These findings support the notion of a pollution haven, underscoring the influence of FDI in moulding environmental outcomes in developing economies. Research limitations/implications Drawing from the study’s outcomes, suggestions are put forth to foster sustainable development strategies. It is recommended that BRICS nations prioritize the attraction of environmentally aware FDI to bolster efforts aimed at mitigating environmental harm. Originality/value This study adds to the ongoing discussion surrounding sustainable development by offering a concentrated analysis of how FDI influences CO2 emissions within BRICS countries. Its novelty lies in questioning traditional assumptions about environmental accountability and emphasizing the necessity for cooperative endeavours between emerging and developed economies to effectively tackle global environmental issues.

Effects of Corruption, Government Effectiveness and Political stability on Economic Growth: Evidence from Morocco

This study examines the impact of Corruption, government effectiveness and political stability on economic growth in Morocco. We conduct an empirical analysis to quantify the impact of institutional quality on economic growth over the period 1996 – 2021 by employing Two Stage Least Squares (2SLS). The findings reveal that corruption has a significant negative influence on economic growth, highlighting the importance of anti-corruption measures. On the other hand, political stability emerges as a key driver of economic growth, emphasizing the need for stable political environments to attract investments and foster entrepreneurship. Additionally, the growth of the public spending negatively affects GDP per capita, stressing the significance of prudent fiscal policies and effective public sector management. This research emphasizes the critical role of institutions, political stability, and efficient governance in driving economic growth. Policymakers can leverage these insights to enhance these institutional quality indicators and foster sustainable and inclusive economic development.

Mapping and assessment of groundwater pollution risks in the main aquifer of the Mostaganem plateau (Northwest Algeria): utilizing the novel vulnerability index and decision tree model.

Water plays a pivotal role in socio-economic development in Algeria. However, the overexploitations of groundwater resources, water scarcity, and the proliferation of pollution sources (including industrial and urban effluents, untreated landfills, and chemical fertilizers, etc.) have resulted in substantial groundwater contamination. Preserving water irrigation quality has thus become a primary priority, capturing the attention of both scientists and local authorities. The current study introduces an innovative method to mapping contamination risks, integrating vulnerability assessments, land use patterns (as a sources of pollution), and groundwater overexploitation (represented by the waterhole density) through the implementation of a decision tree model. The resulting risk map illustrates the probability of contamination occurrence in the substantial aquifer on the plateau of Mostaganem. An agricultural region characterized by the intensive nutrients and pesticides use, the significant presence of septic tanks, widespread illegal dumping, and a technical landfill not compliant with environmental standards. The critical situation in the region is exacerbated by excessive groundwater pumping surpassing the aquifer's natural replenishment capacity (with 115 boreholes and 6345 operational wells), especially in a semi-arid climate featuring limited water resources and frequent drought. Vulnerability was evaluated using the DRFTID method, a derivative of the DRASTIC model, considering parameters such as depth to groundwater, recharge, fracture density, slope, nature of the unsaturated zone, and the drainage density. All these parameters are combined with analyses of inter-parameter relationship effects. The results show a spatial distribution into three risk levels (low, medium, and high), with 31.5% designated as high risk, and 56% as medium risk. The validation of this mapping relies on the assessment of physicochemical analyses in samples collected between 2010 and 2020. The results indicate elevated groundwater contamination levels in samples. Chloride exceeded acceptable levels by 100%, nitrate by 71%, calcium by 50%, and sodium by 42%. These elevated concentrations impact electrical conductivity, resulting in highly mineralized water attributed to anthropogenic agricultural pollution and septic tank discharges. High-risk zones align with areas exhibiting elevated nitrate and chloride concentrations. This model, deemed satisfactory, significantly enhances the sustainable management of water resources and irrigated land across various areas. In the long term, it would be beneficial to refine "vulnerability and risk" models by integrating detailed data on land use, groundwater exploitation, and hydrogeological and hydrochemical characteristics. This approach could improve vulnerability accuracy and pollution risk maps, particularly through detailed local data availability. It is also crucial that public authorities support these initiatives by adapting them to local geographical and climatic specificities on a regional and national scale. Finally, these studies have the potential to foster sustainable development at different geographical levels.

Navigating urban sustainable development: Exploring the impact of low carbon policies on the urban ecological carrying capacity

Amidst a backdrop of decelerating economic growth, China confronts mounting environmental challenges, including air pollution, water scarcity, and escalating carbon emissions. In this context, enhancing the urban ecological carrying capacity (UECC)– defined as the ability to sustain human activities without compromising environmental quality – emerges as a pivotal concern. To address these issues, the Chinese government has instituted the “Low Carbon Pilot Cities policy” initiative (LCPP), aiming to foster sustainable urban development by encouraging cities to adopt measures that reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency. This paper treats the policy as an exogenous quasi-natural experiment, employing a spatial double-difference methodology to assess its impact on the ecological carrying capacity of 281 Chinese cities from 2006 to 2021. Utilizing the pressure-state-response (PSR) model, this study constructs and evaluates their ecological carrying capacity. The findings reveal that: firstly, the low-carbon pilot policies significantly augment urban ecological carrying capacities; secondly, the policy's effects exhibit regional variability; thirdly, these policies bolster ecological carrying capacity through innovation-driven and energy structure optimization mechanisms; and fourthly, a further spatial spillover analysis indicates that the policy implementation adversely affects the ecological carrying capacity of adjacent cities. Consequently, this study offers empirical evidence and policy insights to assist countries in judiciously implementing environmental policies to achieve sustainable development objectives.

IMPACT OF ALTERNATIVE ENERGY INVESTMENTS ON EMPLOYMENT IN AZERBAIJAN

Transition to alternative energy sources is increasingly recognized as a vital component of global efforts to mitigate climate change and foster sustainable development. This study examines the impact of alternative energy investments on employment, focusing on the renewable energy sector's role in generating job opportunities. Paper explores the mechanisms through which investments in alternative energy projects, such as wind, solar, hydroelectric, and biomass, influence employment outcomes. Key factors influencing employment generation, including technological innovation, infrastructure development, policy frameworks, and market dynamics, are analyzed to understand the complex interplay between alternative energy investments and labor markets. The study highlights the potential for alternative energy investments to create diverse employment opportunities across various sectors. Furthermore, it examines the socio-economic benefits of renewable energy projects in terms of job creation, skills development and income generation. By elucidating the relationship between alternative energy investments and employment, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of renewable energy transition in devising strategies to maximize the socio-economic benefits of sustainable energy development. Findings show upward trend in average monthly nominal wages and salaries within the sector reflects positive growth in labor compensation, potentially influenced by factors such as rising demand for skilled labor and productivity improvements. Additionally government agencies and international organizations are main drivers of green investments and sustainable development in Azerbaijan.

Assessment of environmental degradation on the Mostaganem Plateau Algeria: A critical analysis of soil and water resources

This study underscores the importance of accounting for spatial dimensions and temperatures in evaluating payments and environmental interactions. Exploiting natural spaces can foster sustainable development, especially in vulnerable areas, but urbanization poses significant challenges. The Mostaganem Plateau, spanning 78,100 hectares with diverse landscapes, is highly sensitive to environmental pressures like abrasion. Urbanization, agriculture, industry, deforestation, and heavy port activities threaten its biodiversity. Using the plateau as a diagnostic tool helps identify the main causes of its deterioration. Analyzing agricultural and industrial impacts on soil and water highlights the severity of the situation. These analyses, along with in-depth geographic studies, reveal the complex decomposition processes driven by natural and human factors. Implementing effective political policies and management practices is crucial to counter negative influences and promote sustainable development. Protecting the Mostaganem Plateau's fragile ecosystem requires vigilant efforts from the scientific community and social and economic stakeholders. Addressing environmental and ecological impacts is essential for long-term development. Practical responses are needed to mitigate severe degradation and preserve the plateau's environmental integrity for future generations. The study emphasizes the urgent need for monitoring and intervention to safeguard this vulnerable region, ensuring its sustainability and resilience against ongoing threats. Protecting the Mostaganem Plateau's fragile ecosystem requires vigilant efforts from the scientific community and social and economic stakeholders. Balancing growth and sustainability: The long‐run impact of financial and technological innovations on India's ecological footprint

AbstractThis study examines the effects of financial and technological innovations on India's ecological footprint—a comprehensive indicator of environmental degradation. Although previous research has addressed the individual impacts of these innovations, their collective influence has not been thoroughly investigated. Using data from 1973 to 2018 and employing ARDL Bounds and Bayer‐Hanck cointegration tests, we find a long‐run relationship between innovations, economic growth, energy consumption, and the ecological footprint. Notably, while the short‐term impact of innovations appears detrimental, both financial and technological innovations demonstrate a long‐term beneficial effect on the environment, which suggests that initial investments in innovation may have short‐term environmental costs, but ultimately contribute to environmental improvement. Additionally, this study confirms the harmful long‐term effects of energy consumption and economic growth on the environment. These findings underscore the importance of transitioning to cleaner energy sources, improving energy efficiency, and implementing robust environmental policies to foster sustainable development in India.

IntroductionThe expansion of fishery development from offshore to deep-sea areas has become essential for countries to address environmental constraints and ensure food security. This study aims to establish a cooperative development model for deep-blue fishery involving the government, fishery enterprises, and consumers.MethodsWe constructed an evolutionary game and simulation model to analyze the government's deep-blue fishery subsidy strategy. The model considers the interactions between the government, fishery enterprises, and consumers, evaluating how different subsidy strategies influence the development of deep-blue fishery.ResultsOur results demonstrate that government subsidies can stimulate the growth of deep-blue fishery from both the demand and supply sides. Specifically, the likelihood of government subsidies positively affects fishery enterprises' engagement in deep-blue fishery development and consumers' willingness to purchase deep-blue fishery products. The evolutionary game system reaches different steady states based on the cost-benefit changes for the government, fishery enterprises, and consumers, leading to various optimal subsidy strategies.DiscussionThe findings indicate that the amount of government subsidy should be optimized rather than maximized, as excessive subsidies may not yield proportionate benefits. Additionally, subsidizing fishery enterprises proves to be more effective in promoting the development of deep-blue fishery compared to subsidizing consumers. These insights can guide policymakers in designing efficient subsidy strategies to foster sustainable deep-sea fishery development.
