Exploring Perceptions of Communication among Culturally Diverse Nurses in Saudi Arabia.

Cultural diversity among nurses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia poses problems in communication management to ensure optimal patient care. This study explored and described the perceptions of communication among nurses in a culturally diverse workforce. A qualitative approach was used; a sample of seventeen (n=17) nurses was purposively selected. Data obtained from semi-structured interviews were analyzed using Braun and Clarke's six steps of thematic qualitative analysis. Key themes were (1) nurses' perceptions of communication in a culturally diverse workforce, (2) barriers to communication in a culturally diverse workforce, and (3) facilitators of effective communication in a culturally diverse workforce. Nurses have recognized the importance of communicating in a culturally diverse environment to provide optimal care. Strategies such as cultural competence training, open communication forums, and mentorship programs are recommended to improve cross-cultural understanding and collaboration in care teams.

A Review on the Impact of Social Media and the Internet on Consumer Purchasing Decisions

This essay's goal is to examine the nuanced effects of social media and the internet on consumers' decision-making processes while making purchases. Due to the quick advancement of Internet technology and the enormous popularity of social media platforms, social media serves as a vital forum for customer interaction and communication as well as the formation of opinions that have a significant impact on consumers' decision-making processes when making purchases. A significant quantity of information about how social media and the Internet affect consumer buying decisions has been gathered through sample analysis and literature reviews. The research framework is established in the literature review portion. The data collection and analysis of the earlier samples was utilized in the sample analysis phase to validate the research findings and identify the precise mechanisms by which social media and networks influence consumer purchase decisions. The following factors primarily illustrate how social media and the Internet affect consumer purchasing decisions: First, social media offers a wealth of product information via e-live broadcasting and other channels. Users may explore, search, and compare products to gain a more thorough understanding of them and to assess them more critically, enabling them to make better purchasing decisions. Second, social media advertising, word-of-mouth marketing, and user reviews have a big influence on consumers' purchasing decisions, which are frequently impacted by other people's assessments and opinions. Furthermore, social media influences consumers' psychological views and emotional reactions, which in turn influences their purchasing decisions.

EXERCISES FOR DEVELOPING CRITICAL AND DIGITAL THINKING IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES

The article explores the interplay between critical thinking and digital literacy in today's technology-driven society. This article explores various exercises designed to enhance critical and digital thinking skills in the context of teaching foreign languages. It emphasizes the integration of language learning with digital literacy, presenting activities for developing critical thinking such as source evaluation, comparative analysis, digital footprint assessment, online discussion evaluation, ethical considerations, digital content analysis, online research and presentation tools to produce their project, reflective blogging, virtual debate. Additionally, it highlights the importance of engaging in digital scavenger hunt, evaluating online language tools, creating digital content, online discussion forums, web-based language projects, analyzing digital media, digital storytelling, online forums for better digital communication and project-based learning for collaboration based on digital thinking.

QUALITY ANALYSIS OF THE ELECTRONIC GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT ORDER SYSTEM USING WEBQUAL AND EUCS METHODS

Within district of Hulu Sungai Selatan there is a website for the community to offer goods or services, namely SIOPEN, SIOPEN functions as a forum for the HSS community and umkm to offer their goods or services to the local government. The goal of this research is to evaluate SIOPEN's quality using the Webqual approach and users' degree of satisfaction using the EUCS approach. The Webqual approach, which has three dimensions information quality, usability, and interaction service was employed in this research together with the EUCS approach. The EUCS approach has some variables in partikular ease of use, accuracy, format, content, and timeliness. The approach of gathering information data through respondents via sending out online questionnaires to SIOPEN users and determining the sample using the formula from Slovin obtained 88 users then obtained by Webqual Index and Average Satisfaction. The results of research measuring the three dimensions of Webqual show that are in very good interpretation, The information quality dimension obtained 0.8392, the usability dimension obtained 0.8292, then the service interaction dimension obtained 0.8284. The findings from assessing the level of the satisfied user three variables of EUCS in particular content at a score of 4.27, ease of use at a score of 4.21, and timeliness at a score of 4.28 are at very satisfied level, then the other two variables are accuracy at a score of 4.15 and format at a score of 4.11 at a satisfied level.

Differing standards in regulating off campus speech

With the growth of the internet and social media, students are increasingly using online platforms as public forums of communication. This communication occasionally impacts the school environment which has created a new realm of regulation for school authorities. Traditionally, the authority of school administrators’ stopped at the school yard gates. However, the age of social media has prompted reforms in legislation and brought forth novel case law. Ontario’s Education Act currently sets out the test to determine when school administrators can exercise their authority off school grounds: in circumstances “where engaging in the activity will have an impact on the school climate.”[1] In the US, the landmark Tinker case set out a different test: school administrators may only exercise their authority against student speech when the speech causes a “substantial disruption or material interference with school activities.”[2] This standard was affirmed to apply to off-campus speech in the Mahanoy case.[3] The standard in the US is markedly elevated compared to Ontario’s, requiring a more substantial impact on the school climate. This difference raises two important questions: how can this difference be explained and is one standard more fitting than the other? [1] Education Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. Potential sports industry Segorogunung village: a strategy for the paragliding sport tourism development model

The objectives of this study are as follows: (1) Determine the opportunities, threats, vulnerabilities, and strengths of the paragliding hill as a tourist attraction in Segorogunung village; and (2) Establish a model strategy for the development of paragliding sport tourism in Segorogunung village. This research employs a qualitative descriptive case study methodology incorporating an embedded research approach. Utilizing a strategic management concept-based approach, qualitative descriptive and SWOT analyses are utilized in research data analysis. The research findings indicate the following: (1) The accumulated value of the strength factor is 1.758; the accumulated value of the vulnerability factor is -1.255; the accumulated value of the opportunity factor is 1.855; and the accumulated value of the threat factor is -1.445. A Novel Approach to Mentorship in Pediatric Cardiology: A Group for Women.

Gender disparities for female physicians in academic medicine are longstanding. Female pediatric cardiologists experience inequities in scholarship opportunities, promotion, leadership positions, and compensation. Mentorship groups have been successfully implemented in other subspecialities with promising results. We created a peer mentorship group for female pediatric cardiologists in the Northeast and completed a needs assessment survey of eligible participants. Our goal was to better understand the current challenges and identify resources to overcome these barriers. Our objectives were to (1) describe the creation of a novel mentorship program for female pediatric cardiologists and trainees in the Northeast United States, and (2) report the results of a formal needs assessment survey of all eligible participants. All female pediatric cardiology fellows and practicing pediatric and adult congenital heart disease specialists from 15 academic centers in New England were invited to join a free group with virtual meetings. A formal needs assessment survey was provided electronically to all eligible members. The vast majority of respondents agreed that the Women in Pediatric Cardiology (WIPC) group is a valuable networking and mentorship experience (90%) and would recommend this group to a colleague (95%). Members have witnessed or experienced inequities in a broad range of settings. Common challenges experienced by respondents include dependent care demands, lack of mentorship, inadequate research support, and inequitable clinical responsibilities. Resources suggested to overcome these barriers include mentorship, sponsorship, transparency in compensation, and physician coaching. Mentorship groups have the potential to address many challenges faced by women in medicine. The WIPC Northeast program provides a forum for community, collaboration, education, and scholarship.

Social Media-Based Brief Video Interventions to Support Youths' Mental Health.

Social media platforms are communication forums with potential benefits and disadvantages for youths' mental health. In this column, the author focuses on two main themes. First, recognizing the need for carefully crafted interventions, the author advocates for the use of crowdsourcing platforms to test and refine social media-based video content. These platforms enable the development of engaging, safe, and stigma-reducing videos tailored to meet the needs of diverse youths. Second, the author proposes the establishment of strategic frameworks designed to empower youths to produce and share these videos effectively, enhancing the positive effect of social media on mental health discourse.

Abstract The XVIII Encuentro de Física was successfully held at the Escuela Politécnica Nacional in Quito, Ecuador, from October 16th to 20th, 2023. The organizing committee would like to express sincere gratitude to all participants, including keynote speakers, session chairs, authors, and presenters, the international scientific committee, and the local organizing committee, for contributing to the success of this conference. Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to CEDIA and PhET for their generous financial support, which enabled us to cover the expenses of our keynote speakers. Additionally, we extend our thanks to Cooperativa Politécnica for sponsoring the coffee breaks during the event. The conference featured 10 keynote speeches, over 70 technical presentations and posters distributed across 2 sessions, and the IV workshop of Astronomy from the Andean Regional Office of Astronomy for Development. Additionally, two discussion panels were organized covering two relevant topics: Research policies and coherence with national realities and Teaching physics in Ecuador. The week before the main event, we held three workshops for students and teachers of the Ministry of Education of Ecuador. These workshops focused on introducing particle physics to undergraduate students and science teaching methodologies, integrating astronomy, and designing active learning activities using PhET for teachers. The XVIII Encuentro de Física gathered 200 participants from 10 countries attending the conference. As in previous editions, the conference proved to be a significant event for research in Physics, providing a discussion forum for the Ecuadorian scientific community. The conference served as a space where innovative ideas, breakthrough concepts, and disruptive technologies were presented and discussed, enabling new research partnerships and potential synergies to be established. Communication Effectiveness Millennial Agriculture Forum (MAF) in Growing Entrepreneurial Motivation of Medan Agricultural Development Polytechnic Students

The aim of the research is to analyze the effectiveness of Millennial Agriculture Forum (MAF) communication in fostering entrepreneurial motivation and analyzing MAF communication barriers in fostering entrepreneurial motivation for Medan Agricultural Development Polytechnic students. Qualitative research method using the constructivism paradigm. The informants in this research were 7 (seven) students because the data was saturated with the criteria for being a student in Semester VIII for the 2023/2024 academic year. The results of the research show that MAF is effective in fostering entrepreneurial motivation because students actively receive information from resource persons, the contents of messages related to entrepreneurship are delivered using the Zoom Meeting application, held on Saturdays with a delivery duration of 2 (two) hours and messages are delivered through slide shows and videos

Network name as a primary factor in self-presentation shapes the first impression of the user in the virtual world, becoming an integral component of achieving the set goal. The purpose of this article is to analyze the concept of a nickname, define its essence, highlight characteristic features, and understand its main functions. In particular, the specific character of nickname definitions in lexicographical works and scientific research papers have been studied. It has been determined that contemporary linguistic works actively discuss the issue of internet communication in general and the functioning of linguistic naming units in particular. The revised the following characteristics of nicknames highlighted by the vast majority of researchers have been identified: definition of this concept suggested in the paper is crucial for our research. Moreover, a real or fictional name, a pseudonym, an alias utilized by users for internet communication; the place of use – chats, forums, blogs; the place of communication – the global network, communication on the internet in general. Furthermore, it is important to highlight specific features of nicknames, considering that communication in social networks, chats, forums, and self-presentation in them undergo constant changes. Therefore, this article characterizes the common and distinctive features of a network name and similar onyms as the login name (loginonyms) (presented in computer discourse), an alias, pseudonym, and cryptonym (recognized in onomastics). Common features of a nickname and an alias include the ability to create an unlimited number of onyms for one person, therefore hiding the real identity and modeling a fictional one; as well as non-conventionality of the form and fictionality of the name. Similarly to login names (loginonyms), nicknames are specific types of proper names in the field of Internet communication. Moreover, cryptonym, login name (loginonym), and network name are used in written form. Additionally, the article defines the marking features of network names. Since a nickname is a multifunctional phenomenon, the functional-semantic potential of nicknames is outlined in this scientific research. As a result, it has been revealed that the functions of network names should be categorized depending on the place of their use.

Pendampingan Analisis Kelayakan Sosial Pasar Tradisional Landungsari

The market is a collection of all buyers and sellers interacting socially in selling and purchasing goods. The existence of markets, especially traditional markets, supports economic activities that can contribute to the economic growth of the surrounding community. The traditional market is the center of buying and selling transactions directly in the community. One of its functions is as a center for the socio-economic activities of the local community. The traditional market of Landungsari Village is an economic forum for the Landungsari community in buying and selling transactions between buyers and sellers. Market development must adjust to the development of the surrounding community. The problem in the traditional market of Landungsari Village is that there is no social feasibility study in developing and realigning the Landungsari Market in the surrounding community. The service aims to solve the problems by conducting a social feasibility study survey of the development and improvement plan and realignment of the Landungsari Market. In its implementation, the service team partnered with the Landungsari Market Manager and the Landungsari Village Government. The result of the service was that 76% of the subjects expected an improvement in the cleanliness of the Landungsari Market, and 100% of the subjects also expected the provision of evacuation routes, symbols, and disaster mitigation tools.

Stress Coping Strategies Among Nurses at Hasanuddin University Hospital Indonesia

Introduction: Nurses have a major contribution in determining the quality of hospital services, but the heavy workload carried by nurses makes them vulnerable to work stress. Work stress that is if not handled properly can result in a decrease in the quality of services provided to the effect on hospital productivity, therefore it is necessary to do a coping strategy so that nurses can deal with and neutralize or overcomereduce the work stress experienced. Objective: This study aims to describe stress coping strategies for nurses in the Inpatient Installation of the Hasanuddin University Hospital Makassar. Method: This research was using quantitative approach. It was conducted at the Hasanuddin University Hospital in July 2022. The population in this study were all nurses who served in the Inpatient Room of Hasanuddin University Hospital with a total sample of 54 nurses. Collecting research data using The Brief COPE Questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using univariate analysis test. Result: The results describe nurses' stress coping strategies based on problem focused coping, that all indicators included in the high category, there are active coping (6.42), followed by planning (6.29) and use of instrumental support (6.02). Then the Nnurse's stress coping strategy based on emotional focused coping, there are 3 indicators that are included in the high category, there are religion (7.39), positive reframing (6.31), and acceptance (6.07), use of emotional support (4 .83) is an indicator that included in the medium category and denial (3.14) is an indicator that included in the low category. While Nnurses' stress coping strategies based on dysfunctional coping, self-distraction (6,16) is the only indicators that included in the high category, then there are 4 indicators that were included in the moderate category, there were namely venting (4,87), humor (4,50), self blame (4.50), and behavioral disengagement (3.24), as well as substance use (2.66) are indicators that are included in the low category. Conclusion: Majority of nurses at Hasanuddin University Hospital applied high problem focused coping and emotional focused coping. Therefore, the management of the Hasanuddin University Hospital may consider opening or holding a communication forum between nurses in each treatment room to discuss problems at work and provide psychological guidance and support in order to overcome the work stress that nurses experienced.

Pengaruh media sosial dalam penyampaian informasi terhadap minat berkunjung Kembali di Museum H. M. soeharto

This study aims to determine how much influence social media as a forum for communication and information delivery has on the interest in revisiting HM Soeharto Museum in Yogyakarta. Through a quantitative approach, this study uses a survey method to collect data from randomly selected museum visitors. The population in this study were visitors to HM Soeharto Museum, while the sample was determined on tourists who had visited the museum before and were at least 14 years old. The data collection tool used was a closed questionnaire with a range of 1-5 Likert Scale scores. The results of data analysis showed a significant influence between the use of social media and interest in revisiting HM Soeharto Museum. The regression coefficient and correlation coefficient showed that any increase in social media usage was associated with a significant increase in interest in revisiting the museum. These findings have important implications in the context of museum promotion and marketing as well as cultural tourism activities. Visitors to HM Soeharto Museum are advised to follow their social media accounts to get the latest information. By making good use of social media, visitors can provide feedback to the museum about the experience of visiting. Visitors can also invite friends or relatives to visit together. This can contribute to increasing interest in visiting HM Soeharto Museum again and enriching visitors' experience in exploring Indonesia's historical heritage.

Concept and Implementation Model Multicultural Islamic Education FKUB Balikpapan City in Developing a Tolerant Attitude

In Balikpapan City as a city whose level of diversity is so complex, it cannot be separated from social problems that can lead to social disintegration. The preventive action taken by the Balikpapan City Government is to build a partnership between the Balikpapan City Religious Ummah Communication Forum (FKUB). The Balikpapan City Government's step in starting with FKUB is a strategic step in strengthening multicultural values to anticipate the disintegration of socialization. The review of this paper is based on the results of research with a qualitative descriptive approach to the phenomena and facts that occur at the research locus. Using this type of phenomenology, the author reveals the concepts built and models implemented about the values of multicultural Islamic education in Balikpapan City. The existence of the term multicultural as a social term that views cultural equality, then multicultural value in the context of Islamic teachings is the concept of social ethics in covering cultural diversity according to the views of Islamic teachings. The values developed and most crucial are: Silaturrahim, please help, equality and equal rights, justice and care. In instilling Islamic education values, the models and multicultural approaches carried out by FKUB Balikpapan City are: a. Interreligious Dialogue Model, b. Social Action Model, c. Empowerment and Engagement of Social Resources Model 1. In developing the tolerant attitude of the people of Balikpapan City, FKUB takes a role by instilling and strengthening the values of multicultural Islamic education. 2. The values of multicultural Islamic education become crucial values in a society with such a complex level of plurality as in Balikpapan City. 3. In instilling and strengthening the values of Islamic education, the multicultural model carried out by FKUB Balikpapan City is the Interfaith Dialogue Model, Social Action Model, Empowerment Model and Social Resource Involvement.

Implementasi Metode Prototype pada Pembuatan Web Portal TEFA House of Health Promotion

Health Promotion is a series of activities that strive for individuals to increase their knowledge related to health so that ultimately they can improve the quality of health. In order for the objectives of health promotion activities to be achieved, media is needed to support these activities. TeFa House of Health Promotion Polije is one of the TeFa (Teaching Factories) managed by the Health Promotion study program, Department of Health. TeFa was created as a forum for communication, information and health education, TeFa is also a means for lecturers to contribute to society by providing consultation services related to the development of public health promotion programs. To support this, a multifunctional platform is needed in the form of a webportal which is used to help TeFa. This research focuses on creating a web portal using one of the SDLC methods, namely prototype. The process of creating a web portal begins with extracting information through interviews with potential users. The results of this excavation process are information related to the features of the web portal, including articles, video, audio, pooling and chat. The process of creating a Web Portal is made using the PHP programming language and Laravel Framework. The testing process is carried out using the black box method to determine the functionality of each feature. The test results showed that the web portal was in accordance with the user's required features and each feature was functioning according to its function.

In this study, we reviewed the literature on community conflict and conflict mediation and performed empirical study with LDA-based topic modeling to understand conflict patterns in Suseong-gu, Daegu, and then analyzed cases of conflict mediation through the civil jury system. It was conducted based on analysis of civil complaint jury minutes for about 10 years (April 28, 2011 - July 3, 2019) and news data from the same period. From this, the implications of the civil jury system as a community conflict management mechanism were presented through an understanding of complex and multidimensional conflicts in the community. The main concepts of the Citizens' Jury System identified in the study consist of three components. Firstly, there are conflicting parties seeking understanding, followed by the forum of communication, which could be referred to as the “public sphere,” created through complaints arbitration meetings to facilitate dialogue. Lastly, there is the neutral third-party group who mediate to induce agreement among conflicting parties and thereby reduce or resolve conflicts. The process of the Citizens' Jury meetings not only prevents the polarization of conflicting groups but also holds significant implications beyond the institutional aspect of conflict resolution, including rational mediation by a third party well-versed in local community affairs, overcoming/solving rational ignorance through information sharing in the conflict public sphere, voluntary participation by complaints arbitrators, and compliance with arbitration decisions, contributing to the augmentation of social capital and effective conflict resolution.

EVALUATION OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM VILLAGES THROUGH MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE AND FRAMEWORK IN SURABAYA CITY

Sustainable tourism development has become a positive trend in every region, especially in densely populated urban areas. Surabaya is one of the cities that has shown special attention to the development of sustainable villages through the tourism sector. Since 2005, Surabaya City has implemented a green village policy or program to realize Surabaya Green and Clean. The paper focused on discussing sustainable tourism villages through the existing structure and management framework in Surabaya City. The method used in this paper was descriptive evaluative with triangulation data wetness techniques in tourist villages in Nginden Village, Surabaya. The results of the evaluation of the structure and management framework of Kampong Herbal Nginden Surabaya have an evaluation result of 92% which is oriented as a smart village because it is used as a forum for learning communities.

The projection of Chinese University online image and social media engagement based on Bayesian model.

Social media platforms provide the public with a forum for interaction and communication with tourism destinations, playing a significant role in the shaping and dissemination of destination images. Similarly, social media plays a vital role in the construction and propagation of online images for higher education institutions. For instance, indicators such as likes, shares, and visits on Weibo can serve as measures of public engagement with university social media. To reveal the triggering rules of social media engagement by projected images of destinations and related factors, this paper builds a Bayesian model using data from posts and interactions on the official Sina Weibo account of a Chinese university from 2018 to 2023. This model simulates to infer the optimal decisions that trigger university social media engagement.

Factors affecting succession planning in family-owned fish trading SMEs in Mwanza City, Tanzania

The purpose of this study was to assess factors affecting succession planning in family-owned fish trading SMEs businesses in Mwanza city. The research utilized quantitative methodologies to evaluate the effect of individual, familial, and organizational factors on succession planning within family-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Mwanza city. Chi-square analyses revealed that leadership, delegation, the ability to disassociate from the business, and successor preferences significantly influence succession planning. Moreover, the interest and abilities of the successor plays a crucial role in the planning process. The study further found that family-level factors, including traditions, compensating family members, formal communication forums, and the desire to maintain family control, also significantly affect succession planning. Regression analyses indicated that individual factors such as leadership, delegation, and the abilities of potential successors positively influenced succession planning. At the family level, practices like compensating family members and establishing formal communication channels significantly contributed to succession planning, while traditional practices like favouring the eldest son as a successor did not have a substantial impact. Additionally, the study identified that the readiness of the successor, the presence of a clear and documented succession plan, effective board governance, a well-defined organizational structure, and the existence of a written strategic plan were key predictors of successful succession planning. The findings suggest that businesses with well-defined and specific succession plans, identified successors, and active development plans for the next generation are more likely to achieve success in shaping succession planning within family-owned fish trading SMEs, providing a solid foundation for successful ownership transitions. This research offers valuable insights for future research and policy development concerning SME succession planning and business sustainability.
