Simulation of the seepage pressure under the dam by Seep/W during engineering education

The modern educational environment should ensure the formation of general and professional (special) competencies of the future specialist. The high education of STEM specialties is impossible without modern information technologies and special software in modern conditions. Developer companies and stakeholders are interested in training students using modern calculation software and provide various opportunities for training. Educational programs gradually reduce the amount of practice classes, the use of special calculation software allows to carry out more necessary calculations in short time, illustrate the results, correct the mistakes, choose the optimal constructive solution, therefore, it contributes to the development of critical thinking and independent learning skills of the student. The practice of implementing information technologies into the education process from simple to complex software is widespread both in Ukraine and abroad. Using modern software activates practical learning, boosts professional identity, consciousness, motivation, and creation of the students. The article provides the calculation of the seepage pressure under the dam by the ordinary handmade method and by Seep/W software. The fourth-year bachelor's degree students carry out this calculation during the concrete dam design. The comparison of the calculation results by hand and by Seep/W PC was made. Modern engineering software are quite complex, require additional knowledge and practice skills, encourage students to survey additional information, which contributes to the development of the students individual trajectory. Most of the modern software are in English, which also stimulates the study of professional English vocabulary.

Using MOOCs to organise problem-based learning in the professional training of IT students

Introduction. The digital transformation of education plays a key role in the formation of in-demand IT specialists. In modern conditions, the method of problem-oriented learning is actively being introduced into the educational process of higher education and contributes to the formation of professional, communicative and digital competencies of IT students.Aim. The present research aimed to validate the incorporation of massive open online course (MOOC) components in the organisation of problem-oriented training for IT students to enhance their professional competencies.Methodology and research methods. The study was conducted over two academic years, beginning in 2022, at Academician E. A. Buketov Karaganda University. A total of 24 teachers participated in the specialised training of IT students, along with 86 students participated. At the first stage, a model was developed to integrate MOOCs into the structure of a specialised IT discipline within the framework of a specialised IT discipline, utilising problem-oriented learning. Additionally, the baseline level of students’ readiness to engage with MOOC courses was assessed. At the second stage, the effectiveness of utilising MOOC courses for implementing problem-oriented learning in the study of IT disciplines was assessed. At the third stage, the results were summarised and conclusions were drawn.Results and scientific novelty. The approaches to the organisation of problem-based learning in the preparation of IT students were defined. The use of Coursera MOOCs as the most convenient platform for studying IT courses was justified. A model of MOOC integration into the structure of an academic discipline in the organisation of problem-oriented learning was developed and experimentally tested.Practical significance. The results of an empirical study of student involvement in the use of MOOCs in problem-based learning prove the functionality of Coursera MOOC courses and their positive impact on the learning process. The feasibility of utilising MOOCs for implementing problem-oriented training aimed at developing students’ professional IT competencies is well-supported.

Innovations in Medical Education in Gastrointestinal Surgery Using Interactive Anatomical Tables

The introduction of digital technologies into the learning process for medical university students represents a new paradigm in medical education since high level of criteria for assessing the quality of learning of a medical student require the application of modern technologies in training fundamental disciplines and, in particular, anatomy. Thanks to virtual technologies, conditions are created for modeling and integrating the student into conditions close to real ones, which increases the interest and involvement of students in the educational process and, as a result, a subjective improvement in the process of assimilation of the material. Traditional education based on dissection materials cannot fully provide for the massive training of students, as biological materials cannot be restored or preserved and are quickly damaged. 3D models are devoid of these limitations.Aim: to evaluate the effectiveness of digital dissection in the educational trajectory of clinical anatomy using interactive anatomical tables and the need of students for the active use of these aids.Materials and methods. Four groups of students were formed: three groups were studying the material using various anatomical tables and one group used the traditional method. To control the effectiveness of the educational process, before the start of training, entrance testing was conducted in all groups. At the end of classes on individual topics, participants completed exit testing, as well as a questionnaire.Results. The analysis of learning outcomes shows a significantly higher level of absorption of the material among students in groups where 3D anatomical models were used during classes. This indicates that students’ subjective experience of the learning process has improved due to their increased involvement in the class and their interest in innovative teaching methods.Conclusion. We plan to study learning outcomes in more detail to identify any differences in the formation of general and professional competencies among students. This information will help us make informed decisions about the widespread use of anatomical models in educational practice.

The The effectiveness of the implementation of game technologies in professional training at higher education institutions

The article describes the effectiveness of mechanisms for the practical use of game technologies, namely the principles of their implementation in modern Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). In connection with today’s challenges, the question of optimization, innovation and availability of knowledge remains extremely relevant. A number of changes in the reform of the higher education system require an ever-increasing search for such educational forms and methods that would contribute to the formation of professional competences, communicative abilities and skills, general cultural and socially important principles. Selecting original techniques that would be effective for comprehensive training of linguists is equally important. On the basis of the process of teaching the disciplines of the philological cycle to the students of the Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University, the effectiveness of the use of game technologies in the process of training future specialists and their direct use of game techniques during practice was assessed. The method of pedagogical observation in combination with a Google Form survey enabled the analysis of the functional significance of game elements in classes on the disciplines of the philological cycle, proving the effectiveness of games as a sensory tool.

Prospects for the Development of STEAM Education in Design

In connection with the accelerated processes of development of digital technologies in design education of higher education, an urgent task is the comprehensive formation of professional competencies that incorporate knowledge of humanitarian and artistic, socio-economic, natural and technical subject disciplines. Systematic development of specific design thinking of students; improvement of formats of problem-based and project-based learning taking into account interdisciplinarity, actualizes the problem of introducing a promising STEAM method into the programs of artistic and design higher education. The purpose of this study: based on cross-cultural analytics of design pedagogy, to reveal the natural interaction of the main educational practices of the world's leading design schools and to substantiate the prospects of introducing the STEAM method into the programs of domestic design education. Applying the method of content analysis, including cultural and historical representation, as well as the method of structural and comparative analysis of educational practices of world design using local experience, the study actualizes the methodology of synthesized STEAM technology in the context of design education of the modern digital era. The stated research task of revealing the features, advantages and development prospects in design education of STEAM technology, which has its own history, made it possible to combine the methods of theoretical knowledge and practical skills used in blocks of various disciplines in order to optimize them in artistic and design. A representative excursion of the practices of world design schools made it possible to compare their approaches and methods over time and deduce their compliance with the socio-economic and cultural needs of society, which led to the conclusion about the universality of the interdisciplinary approach to education and the need to include the STEAM model in the modern educational process. The STEAM education methods analyzed in the study are substantiated and verified by practice-oriented learning.

The purpose of the article is to find out the possibilities of using project technology in the educational process on a competency-based basis by students of higher education. The article clarifies the essence and task of applying project methods in professional pedagogical training. The peculiarities and practical value of the project method for the formation of professional competences of future chemistry teachers are revealed. Literary sources on the use of project methods in educational institutions of various levels were analyzed. The stages of creating practice-oriented projects are indicated: preparatory (theoretical), adaptation, search, activity (practical), final. The relationship between project activities of bachelors and the formation of their professional competence is shown. An approximate extended plan of the methodical project is given. The role of pedagogical practice in the acquisition of professional and methodical competences in the application of the project "Methodology and technology for studying the topic "The structure of the atom" developed by student-interns is outlined. Periodic law and periodic system of chemical elements" in the 8th grade. Considerable attention is paid to the protection of pedagogical practice, which examines the results of implementing the developed project into the educational process by future chemistry teachers. The requirements regarding the readiness of future teachers to carry out the educational process in chemistry are taken into account when reporting on the completion of pedagogical practice. It was found that the project technology is an invariant component in the educational process in the training of specialists in the specialty of Secondary Education (Chemistry) and ensures the integration of scientific-theoretical and practical (acquiring experience) training of the future chemistry teacher. Involvement of students in the development of long-term and personal projects ensures the full formation of professional competencies in accordance with the requirements of the educational and professional program «Secondary Education (Chemistry)».

INDUSTRIAL PRACTICE OF FUTURE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION SPECIALISTS AS A COMPONENT OF THEIR PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

The article examines the role of industrial practice as an important component of professional training of future specialists in vocational education. Industrial practice is considered a key stage that contributes to the formation of professional competence of higher education students, the development of their practical skills and professional qualities. It is necessary for successful work in vocational education institutions.The purpose of the article is to outline ways and means of improving and optimizing the production practice of future vocational education specialists, to substantiate the conditions for increasing its efficiency for training specialists who are able to fully realize their creative potential in a specific professional activity and quickly adapt to the latest production tools and technologies.Student practice is an integral part of the process of training specialists. It involves a sequence of implementation and is aimed at consolidating and improving general and professional competencies obtained by higher education applicants during their studies, acquiring and improving practical skills and abilities in the relevant specialty or educational program. The author analyzes modern approaches to the organization of industrial practice, identifies its main functions and stages. Methods and strategies that increase the effectiveness of practice are substantiated, and its impact on the professional development of higher education students is also shown. The application of the results of this study in the educational process will contribute to improving the quality of training of future specialists, their competitiveness in the labor market, and successful adaptation to production conditions.

EXPERIENCE OF IMPLEMENTING THE DISTANCE E-COURSE “STATISTICAL METHODS IN PHARMACY” IN THE MATHEMATICAL TRAINING OF FUTURE PHARMACEUTICAL SPECIALISTS

The article is dedicated to the issue of distance and online learning in higher pharmaceutical education. In the paper, the main principles and characteristic features of the concept of distance learning are outlined, the main advantages and disadvantages of using distance and e-learning in pharmaceutical and medical higher education are discussed. Considerable attention is paid to the use of distance learning technology in the process of math training for students pursuing higher education in the field of pharmacy. In addition to technical means and the structural-methodological component of the distance course development process, special attention is given to psycho-pedagogical aspects, which includes a focus on increasing the motivation of this group of education seekers to master disciplines related to exact sciences. It is demonstrated, using the example of the developed by the authors distance course “Statistical Methods in Pharmacy”, implemented with the LMS Moodle, that a successful combination of methodological approaches and innovative teaching methods, aimed at implementing a competency-based approach in education, along with modern information technology providing online access to educational content, including tools for feedback support, practical skills development, and automated self-assessment, ensures the effectiveness of achieving educational goals by learners and the formation of professional competencies defined by the educational program. The course was tested, certified, and implemented in the fundamental training of future pharmaceutical professionals at the National University of Pharmacy. It is concluded, that the implementation of distance learning technology in the practice of Ukrainian higher pharmaceutical and medical education is necessary not only due to the current conditions that make it impossible to organize full-fledged offline education but also because of the efficiency of these technologies, primarily for organizing independent students’ work, that ensures the development of learners’ autonomy, contributes to the development of information culture, general digital competence, and a range of soft skills, including communication, interaction, collaboration in a digital environment, and the rational use of study time.

ISSUES OF FORMATION OF PROFESSIONAL FOREIGN LANGUAGE COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF CONVERGENCE OF FORMAL AND NON-FORMAL EDUCATION

This article considers the peculiarities of theformation of students' professional foreign language competence in the conditions of convergence of formal and non-formal education. The necessity of integration of formal and non-formal education in foreign language education is substantiated. The role and significance of formal education provided by educational institutions and non-formal education carried out outside educational institutions in the formation of students' professional foreign language competence is analyzed. Special attention is paid to the interaction of these two forms of education and their influence on the development of students' linguistic and communicative skills. One of the main objectives of the study is to identify the educational needs of students in the conditions of formation of their professional foreign language competence. As aresult of the study, the authors made conclusions that the majority of students consider it appropriate to integrate formal and non-formal education, as it will allow them to master additional competencies and increase their motivation for learning. Thus,in conclusion, the authors of the article summarise the results of the study and draw conclusions about the significance of theinteraction between formal and non-formal education for the formation and improvement of students' professional foreign language competence.

Modern technologies and subject content of a foreign language course for future media specialists

Importance. The subject-language integrated approach is relatively new in the field of foreign language teaching methods. It pursues a dual goal related to the formation of professional communication skills in a foreign language (the formation of communicative and professional competencies). The application of the subject-language integrated approach faces several challenges related to both teachers and students. Firstly, the level of training of students should correspond to the B1B2 level. Secondly, the level of teacher training should combine the foreign language teaching with the specialized content teaching. The potential of the subject-language integrated approach in teaching foreign languages has already been applied and evaluated in the future doctors training, lawyers, and agricultural specialists.Research Methods. The subject-language integrated approach can be incorporated into the language training for future professionals in the media sphere (areas of training “Journalism”, “Advertising and Public Relations”, “Media Communications”). The professional component of the course is related not only to the thematic content of the classes, but also to the possibility of using modern technologies (for example, the artificial intelligence capabilities, virtual and augmented reality technologies) in the media products development within the framework of the training course with their subsequent discussion in the language being studied.Research Results. The subject-language integrated approach has obvious potential in the language training of future media specialists (areas of study “Journalism”, “Advertising and Public Relations”, “Media Communications”). The specialized subject content of the course, as well as the technologies and tools used in the practice of media specialists in the media products and advertising products development, along with language competencies, allow the formation of professional competencies.Conclusions. The aim of the research is to further investigate the potential of an integrated approach to the training of future media professionals. Of particular interest to the study is the identification of specific speech skills required for effective foreign language communication in the speech interaction professional sphere.

FORMATION OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE OF FOREIGN STUDENTS AT THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN INFECTIOUS DISEASES

The article highlights the experience of professional competence formation of foreign medical students with an English-language form of education at the Department of Children Infectious Diseases of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University. Traditional and interactive teaching methods used during classroom work with students are described. Professional competence involves the ability to use knowledge, skills and abilities in practice effectively. For future doctors, it includes mastering diagnostic methods, emergency situations management, and using modern technics of diagnosis and treatment. Aim. The aim is to describe and analyze methods of professional competence formation of foreign students at the Department of Children Infectious Diseases during classroom work. Research results. At the Department of Children Infectious Diseases, foreign students study children infectious diseases and elective disciplines - immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases, clinical parasitology and tropical medicine. When teaching medical disciplines to foreign students, it is necessary to take into account their insufficient level of Ukrainian language proficiency, which is an obstacle to communicating with patients and fully mastering the method of taking anamnesis when working in the hospital near the patient’s bedside. Therefore, the teacher also plays the role of an interpreter. During practical classes control of the input level of knowledge is carried out with the use of multiple choice questions. The final level of knowledge is monitored using situational tasks. Work with the theoretical material takes place in the form of a discussion, the "round table" method with "brainstorming". The main part of the practical class is conducted at the patient's bedside in the departments of the infectious disease hospital. The teacher translates during direct communication between students and patients, corrects the techics of the examination. During classes, students receive structured mini-cases with a description of a clinical case and work in small groups. During case discussions, the teacher is liberal, ready to listen to various opinions and ways of solving a problem situation. Students of the fifth year visit lectures, during which teachers demonstrate multimedia presentations with graphs, schemes of pathogenesis, photos of patients. Combining the lecturer's comments with video information and animation greatly enhances the attention of the audience. Demonstration of clinical cases during the lecture, followed by a discussion in a dialog mode, is valuable. During the lectures, information about the epidemiological situation regarding a particular disease in the countries from which the students came is presented and discussed. Conclusion. For professional competence formation of future doctors, a combination of traditional and interactive teaching methods is effective. In the process of the professional competence formation, all its components should be taken into account: cognitive, motivational and personal. The use of the case method increases cognitive interest, promotes the development of communication skills and clinical thinking. A competent, highly qualified teacher who is fluent in English and uses modern information sources, is an active organizer and participant in the educational process.

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US">The article presents a procedure for assessing the volunteer practices of student mentors based on the participatory approach. The focus of the students’ practices is on supporting orphans and children without parental care through mentoring. In the project, students developed and conducted events for orphans, a specialized thematic shift, and a regional festival involving delegations from 8 regional institutions. The article analyzes the concepts of social practice, theoretical approaches to project assessment, and provides an overview of the Photovoice method. The novelty of the study lies in evaluating the impact of volunteer practices of student mentors on their professional and personal development. The assessment was carried out using the Photovoice method. The use of this method allowed the researchers to obtain high-quality information presented in the form of photographic images and cases containing students’ evaluative judgments. The results of the study can be used to motivate students by revealing how volunteer practices influence the formation of professional and social competencies, as well as the personal development of students.</span></p>

Analysis of the impact of mechanisms of integration of university science into the regional innovation system on the spatial development of the Voronezh region

Relevance. University science is the basis for the progressive development of the regions of the Russian Federation, providing new knowledge and ideas, turning knowledge into technology and accelerated development of the cultural environment. The introduction of scientific research into the educational process is necessary and important conditions for maintaining the high professional level of teachers, the formation of professional competencies, and advanced training of future specialists. In the last few years, the main economic processes have demonstrated positive dynamics, which indicates the effectiveness of the implemented strategy of socio-economic development of the region, as well as an effective policy of spatial development of the territory are key factors in achieving a positive trend in the development of the region. Minister of Science and Higher Education V.N. Falkov in April 2024 He stated the need to transform the higher education system, focusing on specialized higher education based on an interdisciplinary approach that will more effectively integrate university science into regional spatial development and the national innovation system.The purpose of the study is to determine the mechanisms of integration of university science in the spatial development of the Voronezh region through the innovation system.Objectives: to analyze the impact of the mechanisms of integration of university science on the trends of spatial development; to analyze scientific and technological development; to formulate the main conclusions about university science as part of the socio-economic system of the territory.Methodology. The general scientific methods of logical analysis, method of desk research, method of systematization, descriptive method were used in the study. Results. The study revealed the key factors that contributed to the positive dynamics of the economy of the Voronezh region and considered the mechanisms of integration of university science into the regional innovation system.Conclusions. In the realities of scientific and technological development there is a need to improve the methods of integration of university science into the regional innovation system, and recommendations related to the optimization of spatial development of the Voronezh region in order to improve the quality and attractiveness of university science on the basis of innovative aspects functioning in the region have been proposed.

Study Madani Club and Formation of Professional Competence of Prospective Educators

This study examines the role of the Madani Club Study as a platform for developing the professional competence of prospective Islamic Religious Education educators at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic University of North Sumatra. The focus of the study is how the Madani Club Study helps in improving pedagogical skills and internalizing Islamic values. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis related to the Madani Club Study activities. The results of the study indicate that the Madani Club Study is effective in improving students' pedagogical competence through collaborative learning and self-reflection, as well as helping internalize Islamic values ??in the context of modern education. The interaction between students and supervising lecturers in the Madani Club Study also creates an environment that supports personal and social growth. This study emphasizes the importance of extracurricular programs based on collaboration and Islamic values ??to be integrated into the curriculum of Islamic universities in order to prepare prospective educators who are competent in facing the challenges of contemporary Islamic education.

A MODEL FOR THE FORMATION OF THE COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE OF A FUTURE

The model of formation of the communicative competence of a future English teacher by means of effective technologies of interaction between subjects of the educationalprocess is a process of consistent creation of its constituent substantive blocks and ways to achievethe set research goal - the search and finding effective technologies for interaction between subjects of the educational process.The article presents a model for the formation of the communicative competence of a futureEnglish teacher through effective forms and technologies of interaction between subjects of the educational process.It includes the following blocks: a state order for an English teacher; requirements forgraduates of employers; rules set out in new state standards; a goal-setting block; various forms of pedagogical interaction; communication technologies; a set of organizational and psychologicaland pedagogical conditions. The key to the successful formation of the communicative competence of a future Englishteacher is the search and implementation of effective technologies for the interaction of subjectsof the educational process in this process. The establishment of communications between the subjects of the educational process is possible through clear informing of all departments bothabout the general concept and purpose of the educational institution, and informing them about the set professional goals, tasks within the framework of professional training of students of all departments of the faculty, departments in the areas of their interaction with the university administration. To solve this problem, we used the modeling method. The analysis of modern conditions for the training of future foreign language teachers has shown that there is a need to create a system aimed at the formation of professional and communicative competence of a foreign language teacher, which serves as the basis for the implementation of professional and pedagogical functions. On the basis of competence-based, communicative and professionally-oriented approaches, a model for the formation of professional and communicative competence has been developed, which includes targeted, conceptual,meaningful, procedural, methodological and effective blocks.

The impact of video on military engineering learning in wartime

Video technologies have become a powerful tool in the system of professional training of future officers, and the research is oriented towards the revealing the potential of video may contribute to the improvement of cadets’ learning outcomes during wartime significantly. Besides, the article investigates the integration of video technologies in the military engineering classroom and describes interactive video-based learning environment. A quasi-experiment with intervention and control groups was used to answer the research questions. The findings demonstrated the significance of using video in engineering education and the calculation of difference-in-differences value proved the positive impact of videos on cadets’ learning outcomes. The experiment revealed eighteen teaching strategies for integrating video in the military engineering classroom. Also, we provided a detailed classification of characteristics typical for video content in military engineering education. In addition, an interactive video-based learning environment was defined. Regarding the formation of professional competence among future military engineering officers, an interactive video-based learning environment was described through certain requirements. The research results can be used to improve the curriculum for future military engineering officers. Also, the findings may contribute to the design of professional training programs for military educators.
