Individual and psychological differences in learning Russian as a second language

In the modern world, foreign languages have acquired special importance, and their study is considered one of the fundamental and key conditions for the success of intercultural communication, as well as a tool for the formation of linguistic identity. For this reason, in the past few decades, special research has been carried out in educational psychology in order to find effective non-linguistic ways of mastering a second language. According to modern approaches, individual psychological characteristics have a great influence on the process of mastering foreign languages; therefore, this article attempts to show the relationship between psychological aspects and educational methods. The most important factors include motivation, gender, learning style, social factors, interest in learning a second language, the level of language and intellectual abilities, the presence of a language barrier, the cognitive style of the student, the ratio of language material and speech during learning, the level of development of verbal memory and the formation of ability to understand complex communication links. In this process, it is necessary to pay attention to essential factors that are outside linguistics. Students with the knowledge acquired over the years turn to different learning styles. It is important to show respect for their learning styles. It is essential for the instructor to design his curriculum in such a way that different students with different learning styles can follow them. When the activity seems meaningful to the student, his motivation for learning also increases. It seems that familiarity with psychology is essential for all teachers. Understanding what processes occur in the memory of a student while learning a foreign language, as well as what negative impact the delivery of a large volume of educational materials in a short period of time can have on him, is of great importance. Understanding this can have a significant positive impact on foreign language teachers in the preparation of educational programs for their correct presentation, which will be of great benefit and positive effect in the classroom.

LANGUAGE IDENTIFICATION PROCESSES OF THE YOUTH

The article deals with the role of the Russian language in the processes of language identification of students. The results of the sociolinguistic survey, the main objectives of which were determined based on the need to obtain information on the following aspects of the language situation: the degree of knowledge of the youth in the state, Russian and other languages; the level and nature of social preferences in relation to the use of languages in various spheres of life; the nature of social and language preferences of the young population. The review of theoretical works of Kazakhstan and foreign scientists on this subject is given. The conclusions of the study noted the significant role of the Russian language in the formation of linguistic identity, which is due not only to historical realities, in particular, the language policy conducted for a long time, as well as the conscious choice of language. The conducted studies prove that language proficiency and its use are a factor of socialization of young people and determine the style of human interaction with their social environment.

The paper aims to reveal interference peculiarities at the phonetic level while mastering a foreign language in individual and collective linguistic consciousness. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author for the first time ascertains correlations between traditions of phonetic adaptation of borrowings from German into Russian and authenticity failures while mastering phonetics of the German language as a foreign one. The research findings are as follows: the author has determined phonetic units role in linguistic identity formation, described influence of different types of phonetic transformations of borrowings from German into Russian on phonetic mistakes appearance.

Language factor and Brazilian national identity

The article examines the role of the linguistic factor in the formation of linguistic identity in Brazil. National identity reflects the complex processes of the existence and development of a nation in cultural and linguistic environment, the language being not only an important identification factor, but also an objective tool for determining other factors affecting the formation of the Brazilian nation and its identity. The close connection between the ongoing economic, spatial-historical and social processes and the formation of identity is analyzed with the help of the author's method of sociolinguistic isomorphism. It resulted in the following findings: the formation of the Brazilian version of the Portuguese language was greatly influenced by the Indian languages, information about which was meticulously collected and systematized by the Jesuits; the language maintained a close connection with the language of the metropolis for a long time, having taken its own track only after gaining independence. At present the shifts in the linguistic reflection of Brazilian reality are revealed through the polysemy trends, transfer of meaning, professional media slang, youth slang.

THE PHENOMENON OF THE LANGUAGE IDENTITY OF PERSONALITYAS A SUBJECT OF SOCIO-PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTION

The urgency of the topic is due to the rapid exponential growth of immigration to developed countries, the emergence of newly created diverse language communities. They significantly affect the linguistic picture of the world of the individual, which leads to numerous studies of the phenomenon of linguistic identity of the individual and its potential impact on micro-communities. The purpose of our scientific research is to reveal the features of the phenomenon of linguistic identity of the individual as a subject of socio-philosophical reflection. The methodological complex of socio-philosophical research involves establishing a link between language and social identity of the individual in the context of diversity of its manifestations. Therefore, there are various theories for their explanation, including sociolinguistic, sociocultural and social constructivism, which justify the process of formation of linguistic identity as a two-way, mutual and interactive process. The objectives of the study: 1) to clarify the essence of the phenomenon of linguistic identity of the individual from the standpoint of socio-philosophical reflection; 2) to study the influence of multimodal environment (technological and digital communication tools) on the formation of linguistic identity of the individual. Scientific novelty: for the first time a comprehensive philosophical understanding of the linguistic identity of the individual from the standpoint of sociolinguistic, sociocultural theories and social constructivism is presented.

ФРАЗЕОЛОГО-ПАРЕМИОЛОГИЧЕСКИЙ АСПЕКТ ЯЗЫКОВОЙ ЛИЧНОСТИ В СИНХРОНИИ ЛИНГВОКУЛЬТУРЫ

The article presents an analysis of semantically stable units of the Russian language in the structure of the linguistic identity through the prism of discursive synchrony. Phraseological and paremiological descriptions are considered as a facet of linguistic culture, operating, along with traditional phraseology (including paremiology), phraseological neoplasms, or neo-phraseologisms. The emergence and functioning of these units is manifested especially figuratively in the structure of the linguistic identity, developing synchronously with modern society, which is reflected in this study. In addition, particular descriptive approaches to determining the pragmatic status of paremias containing a structural, semantic or structural-semantic anthropomorphic component are commented on in the work. The language units selected from the lexicographic fund of modern philology are presented as illustrative content, the conditions for the implementation of anthropomorphic techniques are justified. Examples of the functioning of these units in the structure of a linguistic identity are given, which allows us to talk about the potential possibilities of verbalization of the anthropomorphic conceptosphere. The selected linguistic material in one way or another captures the experience of previous generations, the ethnocultural characteristics of the nation, the mental-intellectual level of the cultural community, etc., demonstrating aspectual features of the formation of linguistic identity.

The article distinguishes the main indicators of East-Asian nations’ mentality impact upon the formation of linguistic identity of the English language journalism authors. Special attention is given to the verbal manifestations of East-Asian mentality in China’s, Japan’s, and Korea’s periodicals in English.

Professional Linguistic Identity of a Mining Engineer: Formation Levels

The paper deals with professional linguistic identity, the study of which is the priority area of cognitive terminology studies. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the development stages of professional linguistic identity of a mining engineer dealing with tailing dams and embankments and failures and accidents on them. The analysis of a mining engineer professional linguistic identity formation was carried out according to the three level system: 1) the level of specialist professional consciousness; 2) the verbal level; 3) the motivation and pragmatic level. As the result of this investigation the term system structure was developed, which showed the formation of professional linguistic identity. The final stage of professional linguistic identity formation is the script construction. The analyzed stages highlight that development and activity of professional linguistic identity reflect connections of a person with his/hers professional activity, and peculiarities of the person mentality prescribe priority ways of conceptualization and categorization of the world. The result is professional discourse which demonstrates professional qualities of professional linguistic identity.

Translingualism as Dialogism in Romanian-American Poetry

Abstract This essay examines how translingual poetry by immigrant Romanian writers who live in or travel to the United States requires a transnational community framing rather than a national one and raises new questions about cultural and linguistic identity formation that reflect on both national and world literature issues. This analysis of the Romanian-American contemporary poets Mihaela Moscaliuc, Andrei Guruianu, Claudia Serea, and Aura Maru uses literary and rhetorical translingual theory to show that the “national literature” framing is no longer sufficient to address works created between two languages in a globalized world—Romanian and English, in this case. Born between two cultures and languages, their poetry does not belong entirely to either. In its turn, the national framing—both the Romanian and the American one—can become more porous and inclusive if read through a sociolinguistic “regime of mobility” (Blommaert) lens that gives a more powerful voice to migrant writers.

РОЛЬ ЭКСТРАЛИНГВИСТИЧЕСКИХ ФАКТОРОВ ПРИ ФОРМИРОВАНИИ ЯЗЫКОВОЙ ЛИЧНОСТИ РЕБЕНКА-БИЛИНГВА

This article describes the influence of extralinguistic factors on the formation of linguistic identity of bilingual child. The problem of multilingualism is determined by extralinguistic factors, indicating that modern society and the processes occurring in it are forcing people to change their lives, and with it language. The relevance of the study determined that polylingual in the world than monolingual. And the children’s bilingualism is characteristic for half of the population on our planet. The phenomenon of multilingualism is not a given, and the need for continued development taken first by parents and caregivers, the teachers, and then by the children. We do not choose if the child will be bilingual, and he forced to become bilingual due to differences in family language, environment, and relation to a specific life situation. A bilingual child is a member of several societies, more ethnosociology (because the society that surrounds the baby carrier one national picture of the world, and the family is the bearer of another national pic-ture of the world). It is the tandem of parents and teachers is a point of support for the polylingual child. In this process, form a view about the world around himself and about the features of every ethnic group and about his belonging them. We can assume that we are talking about the formation of such concepts as “man of peace”.

Influence of dynamics of students professional motives by means of a foreign language

On the basis of Samara high school graduates life projects monitoring an issue urgency of high education institution choice and profession for the purpose of acquisition of professional competences is proved. In dynamic environment of societal life students need to acquire regulatory means for successful interaction with professional community representatives internationally that demands professional reasons formedness. Educational and informative activity of students is the most important means of students quality training improvement. In recent years researchers even more turn to study of training outcome which depends on the applied pedagogical means. Interest in studying of vocational training result from such subjective characteristic as motivation of high education receiving is unreasonably underestimated. Results of this research reflect new tendencies of modern high education: the integration processes setting new productive characteristics of vocational education quality - aspiration for career development, interest to creation of personal development trajectory. First and second year students survey results prove that set of educational means when studying foreign languages promotes revitalizing not only student cognitive activity but also reinforcement of professional competences acquisition requirement allowing to implode into professional association. As a result the foreign language becomes an evolvement means of professional motivation and the mechanism of linguistic identity formation that is successfully socialized in international professional area. The methodical aspect of a problem is presented by conditions of a foreign language acquisition: verbal and semantic, thesaurus, pragmatical. The comparative analysis of experimental work results confirms the expediency of students readiness formation for integration into new type of social reality in the course of communicative education. It is proved that the result of communicative education is achieved by integration of two models (the model of the linguistic identity and model of professional activity) that is assisted by means of a foreign language.

Multicultural Language Development of Preschool Children in Russia

Multicultural development assumes the acquirement knowledge of two-three languages. It is provided by synchronization and coordination of language content by means of transposition – positive transfer of native language knowledge to foreign, and interference on account of negative interaction of the second and the third languages to the native one. The basis for bilingualism, given there, is the base for positive influence on the formation of linguistic identity, the formation of personality with unique features. The study confirms that the main purpose of language development of children is to build their communicative competence, required for participation in a dialogue in a multicultural language area.

Enumeration and the Linguistic Identity Formation in Colonial North India

A number of enumerative practices and discourses were instrumental in defining the politics of linguistic codification, quantification and gradually the shaping of the linguistic identity formation of various communities and groups in colonial north India. The British colonial state systematically pursued the ‘logic of numbers’ through regular census operations, data release in gazetteers, and linguistic survey reports and records of various kinds to standardize and construct new modes of ‘disciplining’ the linguistic diversity and its communicative rationale. It is important to critically engage with this genre of enumerative writings to further understand the politics of identity con-struction based on language in its dialogical relationship with other social categories of religion, caste, region, gender and class, etc.
