Teachers’ Perceptions of Organizational Culture in Public High Schools in Sutera District, Pesisir Selatan Regency

This article aims to analyze teachers' perceptions of Organizational Culture in State Senior High Schools in Sutera District, Pesisir Selatan Regency in terms of 1) innovation and courage to take risks, 2) attention to detail, 3) team orientation, and 4) aggressiveness. This type of research is quantitative descriptive, the population of which is all 113 teachers. The sample for this research was 92 people drawn using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire in the form of a Likert scale which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data is processed using the mean formula. The results of data analysis illustrate that teachers' perceptions of organizational culture are seen from 1) Innovation and courage to take risks, getting an average score of 4.16, including the good category, 2) Attention to detail, getting an average score of 4.56, including the good category, 3) Team orientation received an average score of 4.47, including the good category, and 4) Aggressiveness received an average score of 4.48, including the good category. Overall, the results of data processing regarding teachers' perceptions of organizational culture in State High Schools in Sutera District, Pesisir Selatan Regency are in the good category.

Validity and Reliability Study of the Turkish Form of the Pro-Nature Conservation Behavior Scale

Objective: This study aims to adapt the Pro-Nature Conservation Behavior Scale, which was developed to identify pro-nature conservation behaviors, into Turkish. Method: For the validity and reliability study, 371 participants were included in the study. The suitability of the scale for Turkish culture was tested with Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Results: The scale, which consists of 18 items in total, has 4 sub-dimensions (Individual engagement, planting, collective engagement , wildlife). Overall Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was .85; .73 for the individual engagement factor, .86 for the planting factor, .71 for the collective engagement factor and .61 for the wildlife factor, and convergent validity was supported by positive correlations with the Environmental Behavior Scale, the New Ecological Paradigm Scale, the Generalized Self-Esteem Scale and the Warnick-Edinburg Mental Well-Being Scale. Conclusion: Pro-Nature Conservation Behavior Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used in Türkiye.

Validated questionnaires for the assessment of Italian patients with pelvic floor dysfunctions: a systematic review.

Pelvic floor dysfunctions (PFDs) have a complex, multifactorial pathophysiology that impacts women's health and must be identified to provide the most appropriate care and treatment. Therefore, symptom and quality of life (QoL) questionnaires, briefly identified as patient-reported outcomes (PROs), have been developed. Despite the large number of questionnaires available for the assessment of PFDs and QoL-related issues in English, few of them have been validated for the Italian language. The aim of this article is to systematically review the literature on Italian-language validated PROs for PFDs assessment, along with practical information on literature references and suggestions on how to obtain each individual questionnaire. A systematic review according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) Statement was performed up to 1 March 2024. PubMed/MEDLINE databases and websites were used to identify validated questionnaires in Italian language for PFDs. Once identified, the possibility of obtaining a copy of the questionnaire was checked, and the steps to obtain one are given in the text. Thirty-five Italian-validated questionnaires were included: 17 out of 35 (48.6%) questionnaires focused on Lower urinary tract symptoms, 1 (2.8%) on genital prolapse symptoms, 8 (22.8%) on sexuality, 3 (8.6%) on bowel symptoms and 6 (17.2%) on pelvic dysfunctions. The literature search turned up seven more Italian PRO validation papers than the previous review. Specifically, the newly validated PROs include: Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire (PISQ-12), Sexual Desire and Erotic Fantasies (SDEF) Questionnaire, Sexual Inhibition/Sexual Excitation Scales (SIS/SES), 12-Item Sexual Distress Scale (SDS) and 5-Item Sexual Distress Scale-Short Form (SDS-SF), Vaizey and Wexner and fecal incontinence severity index (FISI) questionnaires, Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory (PFDI-20) questionnaire, Intermittent Catheterization Acceptance Test (I-CAT). This systematic review is intended to be a tool to promote the adoption of appropriate PROs when studying PFDs in Italian patients.

Topo-Geometric Analysis of Variability in Point Clouds Using Persistence Landscapes.

Topological data analysis provides a set of tools to uncover low-dimensional structure in noisy point clouds. Prominent amongst the tools is persistence homology, which summarizes birth-death times of homological features using data objects known as persistence diagrams. To better aid statistical analysis, a functional representation of the diagrams, known as persistence landscapes, enable use of functional data analysis and machine learning tools. Topological and geometric variabilities inherent in point clouds are confounded in both persistence diagrams and landscapes, and it is important to distinguish topological signal from noise to draw reliable conclusions on the structure of the point clouds when using persistence homology. We develop a framework for decomposing variability in persistence diagrams into topological signal and topological noise through alignment of persistence landscapes using an elastic Riemannian metric. Aligned landscapes (amplitude) isolate the topological signal. Reparameterizations used for landscape alignment (phase) are linked to a resolution parameter used to generate persistence diagrams, and capture topological noise in the form of geometric, global scaling and sampling variabilities. We illustrate the importance of decoupling topological signal and topological noise in persistence diagrams (landscapes) using several simulated examples. We also demonstrate that our approach provides novel insights in two real data studies.

Can Pregnancy Experience Predict Birth Experience, Postpartum Depression and Anxiety? A Prospective Descriptive Study.

A positive pregnancy experience can be a good start for healthy motherhood. This study aimed to investigate Iranian women's pregnancy experience and how self-reported hassles and uplifts influence birth experience, postpartum depression and anxiety, and the association between childbirth experience and postpartum mental health. A prospective descriptive study. A prospective descriptive study was conducted among 228 pregnant women from health centres in Tabriz, Iran. From the 28th to 36th weeks of pregnancy, participants completed the Pregnancy Experience Scale. Then, the mothers were followed up until 4-6 weeks postpartum, and Childbirth Experience Questionnaires version 2.0, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression and the short form of Specific Postpartum Anxiety Scales were completed. The data were analysed using the general linear model. After adjusting for possible confounding variables, there was no statistically significant association between women's pregnancy and childbirth experiences. However, the mean scores of postpartum depression and anxiety were significantly higher in women who felt unhappy about the discomforts that they experienced during pregnancy (β [95% CI] = 0.01 [0.01-0.02]; p < 0.001, 0.22 [0.09-0.35]; p = 0.001, respectively). There was a significant statistical reverse association between childbirth experience and postpartum anxiety and depression. The study demonstrated a significant association between women's pregnancy, birth experiences and postpartum psychological outcomes. Implementing interventions that create a positive pregnancy experience will likely have an impact on reducing the prevalence of postpartum depression and anxiety. Pregnant women participated solely in the data collection by responding to the questionnaires. No participant contributions were required for the study's design, outcome measurement or implementation.

Effect Of Online Sessions On Pregnant Mother’s Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Knowledge And Practice

Background: Breastfeeding self-efficacy is an important motivating factor that influences breastfeeding success. Aim: To evaluate effect of online educational sessions on pregnant mothers ‘breastfeeding self-efficacy during pandemics. Study design: A quasi- experimental design was conducted. Study Setting: The study was conducted in antenatal clinic at new general hospital. Study subjects: A purposive sample of 212 pregnant mothers who were chosen according to eligible criteria. Tools: A structured interviewing schedule, it consists of Socio- demographic &amp; Obstetrical data of the studied Pregnant mother, and studied pregnant mother’s knowledge toward breastfeeding self-efficacy questionnaire, and breastfeeding self-efficacy scale–form. Results: The present study results shows that there was a highly statistically significant differences in intervention group for total knowledge score of self-efficacy as it raised from 12.37± 5.16 to 19.41±2.20 with p&lt;0.0001, also, there was a highly statistically significant differences in intervention group for total breastfeeding self-efficacy pre and post the intervention as p=(&lt;0.0001), also, there was a strong positive correlation between total knowledge score of selfefficacy, socio- demographic &amp; obstetrical data of the studied pregnant mother as increasing total knowledge score usually associated with improve breastfeeding self-efficacy practice score post intervention. Conclusion: Online sessions had significant positive effects on self- efficacy knowledge, also practice of the intervention group regarding breastfeeding. Recommendation: Implementing online sessions to improve pregnant women’s selfefficacy regarding breastfeeding in different setting

Construction of Attitude Scale towards Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)

The academic reform necessarily includes changes in admission procedures in various courses, modification in assessment and examination methods. Now education evaluation system has entered into semester based system to introduce Choice Based credit System known as well as CBCS. This study aims to explore the quality of each item of attitude related to choice based credit system (CBCS). Purpose sampling technique has been used for the collection of relevant data in this study. A self-made structured questionnaire was drafted for this study to a group of undergraduate students. After review of previous paper and article, thirty two (32) items has been selected under the different type dimensions i.e., Curriculum and Subject Selection, Evaluation and Feedback, Students Interest, Skill and Development, and Time, in the item pool for this attitude scale. Likert summative five (5) point rating scale was used in this scale/tool. After item analysis, it was found that in the attitude scale six (6) items were eliminated from this tool/scale on the basis on Discrimination Index (DI). The final form of attitude scale twenty six (26) items respectively consider for this scale. Pearson’s product-moment coefficient (r) was used to determine the reliability of the test items. The coefficient of correlation of two tests of attitude scale were found as 0.89 i.e. highly positive correlation. Finally, every effective item was selected for this questionnaire that can be assessing students’ attitude towards choice based credit system successfully. That is significantly reliable.

DEVELOPMENT OF MICRO SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN TOURIST DESTINATIONS AROUND THE NUSANTARA CAPITAL

The East Kalimantan region is a region with rapid development following the designation of the National Capital in one of its regions, namely North Penajam Paser Regency. Therefore, East Kalimantan Province needs to increase MSMEs in tourist destinations as a form of the government's role in optimizing the tourism sector in East Kalimantan. Assuming that the development of the area around IKN will occur rapidly due to the presence of IKN in East Kalimantan, it requires more effective policies to promote the tourism sector. The aim of this research is to collect data on the existing conditions of tourism (tourist destinations) around the IKN area as a forum for developing MSMEs, accommodating the problems of the tourism sector, MSMEs and problems that intersect between these sectors as well as identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges of MSMEs in tourist destinations around the IKN area, to then provide policy recommendations. This research uses secondary data and primary data. The secondary data used is MSME data which is grouped based on the KBLI classification in the form of business scale; venture capital; business risk; and number of workers. Data collection of information on the existing conditions of MSMEs in tourist destinations around IKN is carried out at the Tourism Office in each Regency/City in East Kalimantan. Analysis of qualitative data was carried out using the SWOT technique. The initial step of SWOT analysis is carried out by determining the internal and external factor matrix. The IFE (Internal Factor Evaluation) and EFE (External Factor Evaluation) matrices consist of columns, weights, ratings and total values which are the result of multiplying the weights and ratings. Ranking of levels of importance is done with the help of the QDA application. The research results show that the condition of MSMEs in tourist destinations around IKN still needs to be improved. This condition is because MSMEs still do not have NIBs, product patents and trademarks, and there are limited human resources for developing digital marketing and financial management. The resulting recommendations are (1) Promotion and innovation of tourist destinations by highlighting superior natural and cultural tourism, (2) Controlling MSMEs related to business licensing, business clustering, and assistance in preparing business financial reports, (3) The government coordinates the use of funds. CSR and other assistance for the development of tourism facilities and MSMEs, as well as (4) Coordination of promotion of local products at tourist destinations as well as training assistance to increase product innovation.

Narrative nursing for negative emotions in patients with acute pancreatitis: Based on model construction and application.

Acute pancreatitis (AP), as a common acute abdomen disease, has a high incidence rate worldwide and is often accompanied by severe complications. Negative emotions lead to increased secretion of stress hormones, elevated blood sugar levels, and enhanced insulin resistance, which in turn increases the risk of AP and significantly affects the patient's quality of life. Therefore, exploring the intervention effects of narrative nursing programs on the negative emotions of patients with AP is not only helpful in alleviating psychological stress and improving quality of life but also has significant implications for improving disease outcomes and prognosis. To construct a narrative nursing model for negative emotions in patients with AP and verify its efficacy in application. Through Delphi expert consultation, a narrative nursing model for negative emotions in patients with AP was constructed. A non-randomized quasi-experimental study design was used in this study. A total of 92 patients with AP with negative emotions admitted to a tertiary hospital in Nantong City of Jiangsu Province, China from September 2022 to August 2023 were recruited by convenience sampling, among whom 46 patients admitted from September 2022 to February 2023 were included in the observation group, and 46 patients from March to August 2023 were selected as control group. The observation group received narrative nursing plan, while the control group was given with routine nursing. Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), self-rating depression scale (SDS), positive and negative affect scale (PANAS), caring behavior scale, patient satisfaction scale and 36-item short form health survey questionnaire (SF-36) were used to evaluate their emotions, satisfaction and caring behaviors in the two groups on the day of discharge, 1-and 3-month following discharge. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 45 cases in the intervention group and 44 cases in the control group eventually recruited and completed in the study. On the day of discharge, the intervention group showed significantly lower scores of SAS, SDS and negative emotion (28.57 ± 4.52 vs 17.4 ± 4.44, P < 0.001), whereas evidently higher outcomes in the positive emotion score, Caring behavior scale score and satisfaction score compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Repeated measurement analysis of variance showed that significant between-group differences were found in time effect, inter-group effect and interaction effect of SAS and PANAS scores as well as in time effect and inter-group effect of SF-36 scores (P < 0.05); the SF-36 scores of two groups at 3 months after discharge were higher than those at 1 month after discharge (P < 0.05). The application of narrative nursing protocols has demonstrated significant effectiveness in alleviating anxiety, ameliorating negative emotions, and enhancing satisfaction among patients with AP.

Turkish validity and reliability of the Aging Simulation Experience Scale for undergraduate students of nursing: A methodological study

ABSTRACT The older adult population is growing gradually. The demographic structure is changing with the increasing elderly population. Changing demographic structure may lead to changes in the patient profile that nurses will provide care for. Nurses need to adapt to changing environments, and the quality of care they provide must reflect this. Simulating situations experienced by older adults allows future nurses to gain experience that may help raise awareness without having to face the changing patient profile. There is a need for valid and reliable measurement tools intended to evaluate simulation experiences about aging. The purpose of this study was to adapt the Aging Simulation Experience Scale into Turkish and determine its validity and reliability. A methodological and cross-sectional design was employed. Data were collected between May and June 2023. The validity of the scale was determined using language, content, and construct validity. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and item analysis were used to determine the reliability of the scale. The content validity index of the scale items ranged from 0.80 to 0.95. Item-total correlations of the items ranged from 0.413 to 0.713. Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient was 0.91 for the perception toward older adults dimension and 0.83 for the simulation experiences dimension. In conclusion, the Turkish form of the Aging Simulation Experience Scale was found valid and reliable.

Examining the Relationships between Career Development, Daily Life Decision Making and Social Emotional Learning Skills of Middle School Students

This presented research has three purposes: The first purpose of this study is to examine the power of middle school students' social emotional learning and daily life decision-making skills together as a predictor of their career development. The second purpose is to examine the career development of middle school students according to gender. Third purpose is to examine the career development of middle school students according to targeted high school type. The research group consisted of 263 middle school students (141 female, 116 male, 6 unknown). These students were studying in 3 middle schools in the center of a large city in the northwestern part of Turkey and their ages ranged between 10-15 (X̄=12.31; sd=1.07). The research data were collected by applying the Chilhood Career Development Scale, Social Emotional Learning Scale for Adolescents, Daily Life Decision Making Scale and Personal Information Form. The research data were analysed using multiple linear regression analysis, t test, and one-way ANOVA. The research results showed that middle school students' social emotional learning and daily life decision-making skills scores together accounted for a significant proportion of the variance 0.19% of the career development scores of middle school students. The results showed that the career development score mean of students targeted Anatolian high school were higher than those aiming for science high school and vocational and technical high school. There was not significantly differences in career development scores of the students according to gender. The research results were discussed based on the relevant literature, provided important implications for the theoretical and practical literature on career development, social emotional learning and daily life decision-making skills and suggestions were presented for future theoretical and practical research.

Validity and Reliability Study of the Turkish Form of the Family Support Scale for the Older People.

The Family Support Scale is a used scale to assess family support in older people. The purpose of this study was to test the Family Support Scale for older people in Turkish and to examine its validity and reliability. This was a methodological study. This study sample enrolled 250 older individuals. The study was conducted between July-December 2022. In data collection, sociodemographic information form and The Family Support scale were used. The inclusion criteria for this study selected participants who were 65 years or older, literate, open to communication, living with at least one family member, and who volunteered to participate in the research. In the study, who developed the original scale, was contacted via e-mail and the necessary permission was obtained for the Turkish validity and reliability of the scale. Language equivalence, content validity, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis of the scale were performed. Internal consistency and total item score correlation were calculated to ensure validity and reliability. The scale is compatible in terms of language and content suitability, CVI (Language)= 0.87; CVI (Content)=0.099. In the validity analyzes of the scale; the factor loadings values of the scale were found to be between 0.36 and 0.83, and the explained variance (54.78%) was at a sufficient level according to the EFA results. It was determined that factor loading values for all items were varied between 0.58 and 0.97 and factor load values were statistically significant in CFA (p<.05). It was determined that the fit indices were RMSEA=0.064, GFI=0.99, CFI=0.99, NFI=0.99, x2/df=2.03 at the desired level. In the reliability analysis, it was found that the internal consistency coefficient (α: 0.94) was quite reliable, and the total correlation values of the scale ranged between 0.48 and 0.83. The cross-cultural adaptation of this scale has been realized successfully in Turkish. Health care providers may utilize this tool to evaluate family support for older people.

The Influence of Self Confidence on Inmates' Social Skills at a Correctional Institution in Malang

The prisonisation or socialization program for inmates still shows that there are problems related to social interaction that can lead to anti-social behaviors. For this reason, it is important for inmates to have good social skills and it can also be influenced by a person’s beliefs. For this reason, this study aimed to determine the influence of self-confidence on the social skills of inmates in Class 1 Correctional Institution Malang. The design of this study is causal correlation. This study used a purposive sample and obtained 40 inmates who participated in the socialization program, were aged 20 – 45 years, and had served one-third of their sentences. Two questionnaires in the form of a self-confidence scale and a social skills scale were used to collect data. Data analyses used a simple linear regression technique. The results of the study show that the self-confidence of inmates has a positive and significant effect on the social skills of inmates; with the magnitude of the influence of the self-confidence variable on social skills of 34.7% based on R square. Gender features of clinical manifestations and quality of life indicators in generalized myasthenia

Objective. To study the influence of clinical indicators of myasthenia gravis severity to the quality of life of men and women with generalized myasthenia gravis.Materials and methods. The study included 41 patients aged 60.4±16.4 years with generalized myasthenia gravis: 31 (76 %) women and 10 (24 %) men. Clinical manifestations of myasthenia gravis were assessed with quantitative myasthenia gravis score, myasthenia gravis-specific activities of daily living scale and short form of specialized quality of life questionnaire. Forced vital respiratory capacity was measured in all patients with subsequent additional data calculation.Results. We revealed significant improvement of examined data during hospitalization in both males and females, but in females, significant improvement was established in all quantitative myasthenia gravis score subscales. In men worse affection of swallowing muscles and severe pain phenomena were revealed. Correlations of physical functioning parameter with total quantitative myasthenia gravis score and with score characterizing the strength of limb muscles were revealed in studying group.Conclusion. Clinical manifestations and course of myasthenia gravis have the peculiarities n men and women. Quality of life disorder in studying patients correlated with severity of clinical manifestations, mainly with limb weakness.

Gastrointestinal health and serum proteins are associated with BMD in postmenopausal women: a cross-sectional study

BackgroundWith increasing age, the social and economic burdens of postmenopausal osteoporosis are steadily increasing. This study aimed to investigate the factors that influence the development of postmenopausal osteoporosis.MethodsPostmenopausal women at the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University from January 2023 to December 2023 were recruited for BMD examination. The patients were divided into a normal group, an osteopenia group and an osteoporosis group according to their T value. Questionnaires, including the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale and Short Form 12, were administered through face-to-face interviews. Bone turnover markers and serum protein levels of Fasting venous blood were detected.ResultsA total of 222 postmenopausal women met the inclusion criteria were recruited. Univariate analysis revealed statistically significant differences in age, education, BMI, supplementation with soy products, supplementation with dairy products, supplementation with other nutritional supplements, exercise frequency, gastrointestinal symptom score, quality of life, 25(OH)D, total protein, albumin and prealbumin among the three groups (P < 0.05). Pearson correlation analysis revealed that gastrointestinal symptoms (r = -0.518, P < 0.01) was negatively correlated with BMD in postmenopausal women, while PCS (r = 0.194, P = 0.004), MCS (r = 0.305, P < 0.01), 25(OH)D (r = 0.531, P < 0.01), total protein (r = 0.324, P < 0.01), albumin (r = 0.341, P < 0.01) and prealbumin (r = 0.259, P < 0.01) were positively correlated with BMD. Logistic regression analysis revealed that both the gastrointestinal symptom score and serum 25(OH)D level were found to have a significant association with BMD (both P < 0.01). This association remained significant even after adjusting for age, BMI, education level, dietary habits, and exercise frequency.ConclusionGastrointestinal symptoms and serum 25(OH)D elevel are associated with increased risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and may be useful in predicting osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

Loneliness and Suicidality Among Older Korean Adults During the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Mediating Role of Depressive Symptoms.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the loneliness of older adults increased. Since loneliness and depressive symptoms may contribute to the development of suicidality, the pathways between loneliness, depressive symptoms, and suicidality should be examined more in depth. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between loneliness and suicidality among older Korean adults during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to explore whether it is mediated by depressive symptoms. The data used for this study was "2020 Chuncheon Elderly Life Survey," and a total of 1200 adults aged 65 and over were included in the analysis. Suicidality was measured with the Depressive Symptom Inventory-Suicidality Subscale (DSI-SS). Loneliness was measured with the UCLA 3-item Loneliness Scale, and depressive symptoms were measured with the Short form of Geriatric Depression Scale (SGDS). The mediating effect was tested using the PROCESS macro version 4.2 for SPSS. Adjusted for covariates, the indirect effect (path of loneliness to suicidality via depressive symptoms) was statistically significant, but the direct effect of loneliness on suicidality was not statistically significant. These findings suggest that loneliness is associated with depressive symptoms which in turn explain suicidality among older Korean adults during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further research is required to understand the mechanisms underlying this.

Investigating the relationship between emotional intelligence and sexual satisfaction in late adolescent university students

AbstractThe aim of this study is to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and sexual satisfaction in late adolescents who are university students. The study sample consisted of 757 people who reached out through social media. We collected the data using the Demographic Information Form, the Emotional Intelligence Scale (short form), and the male and female forms of the Golombok Rust Sexual Satisfaction Scale. The SPSS 22.0 package program conducted the necessary analysis of the data. The analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between the total scores on the Emotional Intelligence Scale and the total scores on sexual satisfaction. Accordingly, as emotional intelligence increases in both men and women, the deterioration in their sexual functions and relationships decreases. Additionally, we compared the participants' Sexual Satisfaction Scale scores based on various demographic variables. As a result, women's mean score on the Sexual Satisfaction Scale was significantly lower than that of men. The mean scores of participants who had a partner were significantly lower than those of participants who did not. The mean score of the individuals who were unmarried and thought that having sex before marriage was acceptable was much lower than the mean score of the participants who believed that having sex before marriage was bad. We talked about each outcome in light of the body of literature.

Effects of a synergic interaction between magnesium sulphate and ketamine on the perioperative nociception in dogs undergoing tibial plateau leveling osteotomy: a pilot study.

Magnesium Sulphate (MgSO4) is commonly used in human medicine for the management of perioperative pain in different types of procedures. However, in veterinary medicine, the use of MgSO4 has not been evaluated for its analgesic efficacy in dogs, which has generated conflicts of opinion in this area of veterinary anesthesiology. The aim of this study was to evaluate the perioperative analgesic efficacy of MgSO4 in combination with Ketamine in dogs undergoing Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO). Our hypothesis is that MgSO4 plus ketamine have a synergistic action in the management of intra-and postoperative pain. Twenty adult mixed breed dogs with average age 5.9 ± 2.6 years and weight 27.8 ± 9.2 kg were included in this prospective, clinical, randomized study. Dogs were randomly assigned to two groups. The MK group received ketamine (0.5 mg/kg as starting bolus followed by continuous infusion rate at 1 mg/kg/h). At the end of the ketamine bolus, MgSO4 (50 mg/kg over 15 min) was administered by the same route, followed by a constant rate infusion (CRI) at 15 mg/kg/h, IV. K group received a bolus of ketamine followed by a CRI at the same dosage described in MK group. Main cardiorespiratory parameters were recorded 10 min before the start of surgery (BASE), after the ketamine bolus (T1) and the MgSO4 bolus (T2), during the skin incision (SKIN), the osteotomy (OSTEOTOMY) and skin suturing (SUTURE). In the postoperative period, the short form of Glasgow Composite Pain scale (SF-CMPS) was used to assess pain at 30, 60, 120, and 180 min after extubation (Post30, Post60, Post120, and Post180, respectively). The main blood electrolytes (Mg2+, Ca2+, Na+, K+) were analyzed at BASE, T2, OSTEOTOMY, SUTURE and T3 (one hour after stopping MgSO4 infusion). Number of rescue analgesia and administration times were recorded both in the intra-and postoperative period. In K group 7 out of 10 dogs required intraoperatory rescue analgesia compared to MK group (3/10). Furthermore, mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) were significantly higher at OSTEOTOMY compared to BASE time in both groups. In the postoperative period, at T120, ICMPS-SF score was higher in K group than MK group. The administration of MgSO4 could guarantee better analgesia in the perioperative period in dogs undergoing TPLO, performing a synergistic action with ketamine.

The effect of listening to the voice recording of relatives on chest pain, anxiety and depression in patients hospitalized in the coronary intensive care unit: A randomized controlled trial.

After acute myocardial infarction, the prevalence of anxiety and depression is quite high in patients because of severe chest pain, distance from relatives, unfamiliar environment and orientation problems. To assess the effect of listening to the voice recordings of relatives of patients with acute myocardial infarction who were treated in the coronary intensive care unit (ICU) on chest pain, anxiety and depression parameters of the patients. In the study, which was conducted as a randomized controlled trial, voice recordings of the family members of the patients were created and played to the patients through a music pillow. The study was carried out with 60 patients, 30 experimental and 30 control groups. Three tests were applied to the patients 15 min before, and 15 and 30 min after the application. The data of the study were collected using the Patient Introduction Form, Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale, Visual Analogue Scale and Patient Follow-up Form. It was found that there was a significant decrease in the anxiety level of the patients in the intervention group after listening to the audio recording (p < .001, 95% CI: -3.796; -0.070). However, there was no significant difference between the pain and depression scores of the control and intervention groups (p > .05). In the ICUs of patients with acute myocardial infarction, it may be recommended to play audio recordings of their relatives to reduce the severity of anxiety. In the intensive care setting, the use of voice recordings of relatives can be used as an effective, non-pharmacological intervention to reduce anxiety in patients with acute myocardial infarction. This approach may potentially improve overall recovery by reducing patient anxiety in the intensive care setting.

Evaluation of the Relationship between Sociodemographic Factors, COVID-19 Fear Levels and Vaccination Status in Patients Applying to Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics in a University Hospital

Objective: This study has aimed to examine the relationship between sociodemographic factors and COVID-19 fear levels in patients aged 18-65 years and their COVID-19 vaccination status. Method: The study sample consists of 866 patients aged 18-65 who applied to the Family Medicine Polyclinics of a university hospital between 01.03.2022 and 01.06.2022. Personal Information Form and Fear of COVID-19 Scale were used to collect data. As the score obtained from the scale increases, the level of fear of COVID19 increases. The analyzes of the study were done in SPSS 21.0 package program. Kruskal Wallis test and Mann Whitney U test were used for comparisons. Results: 52.3% of the participants in the study were women and the mean age was 36.59±12.32 years. Compared to men, women's fear of coronavirus was statistically significantly higher. The coronavirus fear levels of those who received at least one dose of vaccine compared to those who did not get vaccinated at all and those who received more doses of vaccines compared to those who received only one dose were found to be statistically significantly higher. Conclusion: As the level of fear of COVID-19 increased, it was determined that the vaccination behavior of individuals was positively affected. COVID-19 is a vaccine preventable disease. With vaccination in all healthcare institutions, it will be possible to prevent morbidity and mortality, as well as economic and social losses that may be caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
