Analysis of the executive process and load out of a fixed oil platform

This paper shows a global analysis of fixed jacket platform infrastructures. Analysis of transportation, verticalization of the launch truss, assembly of the jacket, load out of the jacket and launch modules overboard are carried out. The indication of the most suitable location for drilling wells will be based on the presence of areas favorable to the accumulation of gas and/or oil, which are identified based on a combination of geological and geophysical methods. Drilling activities can also be carried out by installing a modular rig on its structure. They are designed to accommodate all drilling equipment, material storage, staff accommodation, as well as all the facilities necessary for well production. In Brazil, the recent discoveries of natural gas reserves in the Santos, São Paulo, practically tripled the country's reserves. Therefore, the need for knowledge in this area and an approach to the construction methodology of off-shore platforms become essential. This work demonstrates the importance of improving the executive techniques of an off-shore platform, aiming for quality at a lower cost.

Noise technologies and systems for monitoring the beginning of the latent period of accidents on fixed platforms

The authors analyse the causes of frequent failures of fixed oil platforms. It has been discovered that noise in the noisy signals received by the sensors of control systems in many cases contains valuable information about the beginning of a platform's transition into the latent period of an emergency state. Considering this specific characteristic, technologies for calculating estimates of the robust correlation functions have been developed. These technologies allow one to determine the noise characteristics and form correlation matrices equivalent to the matrices of the useful signals. Based on these technologies, the authors propose systems for monitoring the beginning of the latent period of the transition of fixed platforms into an emergency state.

The “Arctic Sunrise” Case (Netherlands/Russia) (ITLOS)

In September 2013, officials of the Russian Federation boarded the vessel Arctic Sunrise, an icebreaker flying the flag of the Netherlands. The vessel, operated by Greenpeace International, was present in the Russian Federation’s Exclusive Economic Zone in order to protest against the operation of the offshore fixed oil platform Prirazlomnaya. Russian authorities detained the Arctic Sunrise itself and all persons on board the vessel, initially based on an accusation of piracy.

Marine fouling of offshore installations in the northern Beibu Gulf of China

Marine fouling on two offshore installations, one a buoy investigation station and the other a fixed oil platform, in the northern Beibu Gulf of China was investigated. The fouling communities were primarily composed of tropical and subtropical littoral species, such as algae, hydroids, anemones, bryozoans, acorn barnacles and bivalves. Oysters became the numerically dominant species of the fouling community in time. On the submerged part of the platform, the fouling community was mostly dominated by oysters and acorn barnacles. Of stalked barnacles, only Lepas anatifera and L. anserifera were found in low abundance at the buoy station. The source of fouling organisms and the influence of environmental factors contributing to the distribution of sessile species are also discussed.
