Production Line Process Improvement with Process Reengineering – A Case Study In Garment Factory

ABC is struggling to reach daily production objectives and has low productivity, which is one of the productline line process problem. Business Process Reengineering (BPR) employs process redesign heuristics to enhance an existing production line process using an assessment technique and fit-gap analysis. The simulation tool is used to model the production line process redesign. After adopting the provided approach and conducting the simulation, the company's production productivity and service level increased by about 45%. The required simulation resulted in critical measurements such as manufacturing capacity and lead-time. This research demonstrates the redesign production line process that must be followed to archive this artefact.

Fit-Gap Analysis: Pre-Fit-Gap Analysis Recommendations and Decision Support Model

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system has been defined as a configurable Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) system integrated into multiple business functions. For most companies, adopting ERP has become necessary to maintain market competitiveness. However, ERP implementation is still critical because project success depends on multiple parameters and involves several stakeholders. This article deals with the Fit-Gap analysis stage, which is an essential step in ERP implementation. This study was carried out through a literature review and interviews with experts to gather information and support stakeholders toward a successful Fit-Gap phase. It presents a set of recommendations for clients and consultants to consider before starting the Fit-Gap Analysis phase, and it presents an approach, with a decision support model represented as Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) based on several parameters to be used during the Fit-Gap Analysis stage to bridge gaps. The results obtained are intended for clients and consultants to make the most rational decision to bridge gaps based on the recommendations found, the approach and the decision support models presented.

Evaluation of Enterprise Resource Planning System Based on SAP Module of Material Management Procurement Function in PT. Kimia Farma Tbk

The purpose of this study is to evaluate and analyze solutions for problems that identified in the Enterprise Resource Planning SAP based on system Material Management Module on Procurement Function in PT. Kimia Farma Tbk. The evaluation method is fit gap analysis Architectural Approach based on FURPS System Requirement model. The Procurement processes included in this study are Create Purchase Requisition, Create Request for Quotation, Maintain Quotation, Create Purchase Order, Create Goods Receipt and Create Service Entry Sheet. The results in this study are presented as a recommendation to fix the problem based on the evaluation result.

INPUT DATA COLLECTION FOR THE FIT-GAP ANALYSIS METHOD: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Development of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems has become an independent industry for the improvement of information systems. It can be stated that ERP systems are designed to support the operation of a company. The fundamental objective of the system is to create a business value that aims at reducing the time and costs of the business while increasing the profit of the company. Although the adaptation and deployment of the ERP system, in general, are complex and protracted processes that require a lot of resources, the obtained results sometimes differ from the expected results of users. Mostly for that reason, there are incomplete internal enterprise business processes and software requirements analysis and development. Therefore, there is a need to determine the compliance of the main enterprise requirements and business processes with the ERP system. To choose the most appropriate ERP system, it is necessary to identify all possible methods of input data for the fit-gap analysis method. Thus, the main aim of the present study is to identify possible input data for the fit-gap analysis method, which can be used for the selection of the most appropriate ERP system.

Results of analyzing business processes throughout the ERP introduction in Serbia

Business Process Management concept in Serbia is often applied for the first time during quality system implementation, or any of EBP solutions. EBP implementation process is very often seen as a panacea to the problems of poor business. In order to implement the ERP solution, it is necessary to perform fit-gap analysis. The process analysis, as a part of the fit-gap analysis opens many issues which were not so visible until then. This paper analyzes the shortcomings in business, considered through the analysis process and fit-gap analysis.

Hospitality Management Information System Investment (Feasibility Study at PT ABC)

The Company’s information systems are expected to support the company’s business processes that provide competitive advantage in a competitive business. Before investing information system it is necessary to conduct a feasibility study on running information systems in order to obtain an overview of the support that can be provided by the old system. The method of this study was performed by conducting surveys and interviews for data collection and analysis methods with fit gap analysis, cost benefit analysis and information technology balanced scorecard. The results of this study by using a fit gap analysis showed that only 10% of the system running with fit criteria, so it is necessary to change the system. Proposed new system will provide a 3.9 year payback period of 5 years management estimates. Average achievement by using information technology balanced scorecard is 93.5%. The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is the firm should invest in hospitality management information system by looking at the aspects of operational and financial aspects.

Feasibility Study for Investment Fixed Asset Information System (Case Study at Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia)

The specific objective of this study was to conduct a feasibility study of information technology investment management of fixed assets. Collecting data using interview, documentation study and, questionnaire. To analysis using fit gap analysis, cost benefit analysis and information technology balance score card. The results shows very high gap in operational aspect, positive NPV and payback period on target management in financial aspect, and most users not satisfied with the current system in intangible aspect. Conclusion of this study is that there is a gap in the system of fixed assets that are still running that required significant changes to the system.

Fit Gap Analysis – The Role of Business Process Reference Models

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems support solutions for standard business processes such as financial, sales, procurement and warehouse. In order to improve the understandability and efficiency of their implementation, ERP vendors have introduced reference models that describe the processes and underlying structure of an ERP system. To select and successfully implement an ERP system, the capabilities of that system have to be compared with a company’s business needs. Based on a comparison, all of the fits and gaps must be identified and further analysed. This step usually forms part of ERP implementation methodologies and is called fit gap analysis. The paper theoretically overviews methods for applying reference models and describes fit gap analysis processes in detail. The paper’s first contribution is its presentation of a fit gap analysis using standard business process modelling notation. The second contribution is the demonstration of a process-based comparison approach between a supply chain process and an ERP system process reference model. In addition to its theoretical contributions, the results can also be practically applied to projects involving the selection and implementation of ERP systems.

A fit-gap analysis of e-business curricula and job demand in Taiwan and the US

During the past decade, many enterprises have been re-directing their resources into critical business areas to keep up with economic and market changes. They have adopted electronic business (EB) systems, such as supply chain management, enterprise resource planning (ERP), and enterprise application integration (EAI), to ensure seamless integration with internal processes as well as suppliers and customers. This phenomenon indicates that EB systems are playing an important role in attaining the effectiveness of enterprise operations. However, there is a constant complaint from recruiters that EB professionals with the right skills are hard to come by. To gauge the rapid changes in EB education and industry demand, EB curricula from top universities and job announcements from popular career Web sites in both the US and Taiwan are collected. We analyze the data and compare the results between the two countries to recommend remedial actions for narrowing the gap between industry and academia.
