This community service activity aims to develop and implement an automatic fish feeder based on IoT and solar panel power in Cikolelet Village, Cinangka District, Serang Regency. This tool is designed to improve feeding efficiency and productivity of fish farmers by utilizing renewable technology. The service process includes prototype design, installation, and evaluation of tool performance in the field. The implementation results show that this tool is able to provide feed automatically and regularly, making it easier for fish farmers to manage their aquaculture. Follow-up assistance and maintenance are carried out to ensure the tool continues to function properly and provide long-term benefits. This initiative is expected to provide practical and sustainable solutions for fish farmers and promote the utilization of modern technology in local communities.

Optimization of operating parameters of a drum-type feed metering unit developed for a human-powered floating fish feeder

Feed wastage is one of the major concerns in aquaculture practice. A simple and unique floating fish feeder with drum-type metering mechanism was developed, which addresses this concern. A drum-type metering mechanism is an easy, effective, low cost metering method with low energy requirement. Optimizing the feed rate for any metering systems is a necessary pre-requisite to ensure proper feeding. In this study, the operating parameters of the drum-type feed metering unit have been optimized to achieve the desired feed rate. The influence of three independent parameters (number of metering holes, shaft speed and drum fill level) on the dependent parameter (feed rate) was studied and optimized using response surface methodology. A multilevel full factorial design approach has been adopted for the experimental design. The effect of variation in operating parameters was investigated experimentally and a response surface model was developed from experimental data. The fit of the model was expressed by an R2 value of 0.879. The optimal solutions obtained from the model with high desirability values were further used for validation experiments in aquaculture pond and found to be acceptable. It was observed that low shaft speeds and drum fill levels led to better feeding. The best settings recommended for the feeder operation were 24 metering holes, 31 % drum fill level and 30 rpm shaft speed. The feeder was found to improve feed application and reduce feed wastage. This kind of low-cost feeding systems is expected to encourage adoption of mechanized feeding among small and marginal farmers.

Modification of a commercial fish feeder for use in small rearing ponds

AbstractObjectiveAutomatic feeders are commonly used in aquaculture, but the feed delivery pattern cannot be adjusted to accommodate a variety of rearing unit sizes. For those few feeders that can be adjusted, their use has been limited because of initial costs, availability, and other issues. This paper describes modification to a commercially available fish feeder (Texas Hunter Products 31.75‐kg [70‐lb] Lake and Pond Directional Fish Feeder) to effectively provide feed to different‐sized ponds.MethodsThis feeder has a 14‐m fish feed distribution pattern, making it unusable for smaller ponds. To reduce the distance of fish feed projected from the feeder, a resistor (rheostat) was installed in series with the fan motor.ResultThe rheostat reduced the power to the fan motor, thereby decreasing the feed projection distance. In addition, because the rheostat was adjustable, the resistance—and the resulting power to the fan motor—could be easily changed, making it possible for the same feeder to be used in different‐sized ponds while using approximately the same amount of power from the battery and solar panels.ConclusionThis modification was inexpensive and relatively easy to perform. The feeders reliably dispensed feed in a number of small ponds during an 8‐month evaluation period.

Design and Manufacturing of Solar Operated Automatic Fish Feeder System

One of the most significant aqua cultural endeavors to date is fish farming. Traditionally, the majority of fish feeding is done by hand, requiring the transportation of people to the feeding location. Fish feeding by hand requires more work, money, and time. Following an extensive survey of farmers across various regions regarding their approaches to fish farming, the Auto Switch Food Feeder, which utilizes new technologies to replace traditional farming methods, will automate farming practices. The design of the solar-powered fish feeder will be based on certain parameters, such as the capacity of the culture tank, stocking density, fish biomass, and feed diameter. Additionally, a user-friendly interface that is compact and convenient for farming will be designed. In the current project, user interface design and timing controls are applied to automate feeding methods, which will significantly save labor costs and efforts while improving the quality of fish feeding. Arduino-based Automatic Fish Feeding Device Prototype

Consuming fish food is an important part of the process of growing and maintaining fish. In general, fish food is given by conventionally throwing it by hand. However, this is not done at the same time every day. Based on the problems above, the researchers made a prototype of an Arduino-based automatic fish feeding device. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the automatic fish feeder prototype. In the prototype that the researchers made using several main components such as Arduino Uno as the system or brain of this prototype, servo motor, 20 x 4 LCD, buttons, Real Time Clock (RTC), and several jumper cables. The effectiveness of this tool can be seen from the test results, where the automatic fish feeder prototype succeeded in providing fish food according to a predetermined schedule.

Real-Time Smart Fish Feeder Model Using Ssd Mobile Net V2

The success of fish farming will depend on improved feed management and lower operating costs, which are essential factors in facilitating an efficient food allocation to the fish. Various automatic fish feeders were used to feed the fish at set intervals, it consists of a mechanical and electrical system to form a device and execute a programmed method, instead of manually feeding the fish by hand. Many methods are effective at evaluating and quantifying fish feeding intensity but are mostly done on the movement and behavior of the fish. However, recognition accuracy is affected due to water quality and the overlapping of fish. To solve this problem, in this study, the author will be focusing on the model in counting the fish pellets, it will capture the image, and count the pellets and the results will be a novel method as a basis for releasing pellets in laying the logical foundation in creating a modern real-time smart fish feeder. The model produced a significant result that detected small objects like fish pellet and count that has gathered a minimal loss in terms of classification, localization, regularization, and normalization.

Raising fish is an activity people who are very popular from the past until now, because ease of maintenance and care that makes most people want to cultivate fish. By using the components of the tool above as well as some supporting software When the tool runs, the fish feeder can automatically work in accordance with the schedule options that have been previously arranged, and capable displays data to web pages in the form of notifications when feed has been given and when the reservoir is empty or exhausted.

Photovoltaics Efficiency on Automatic Fish Feeding Distributors Device Using Internet of Things

Renewable energy is crucial for facilitating the shift towards a more sustainable society. It plays a significant role in establishing a clean energy system, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and enhancing the well-being of both current and future generations. The study included field observation and data analysis approaches. The study utilized IoT-based automatic fish feed spreaders, photovoltaic units, batteries, SCC (solar charge controller), Android phones, thermometers, multimeter tester, LCDs, ultrasonic sensors, and a microcontroller circuit. This study aims to acquire power, electrical energy, and efficiency measurements from solar systems employed in an Internet of Things (IoT) enabled automatic fish feeder apparatus. The results show that the power consumption needed to operate the IoT-based automatic fish feeder gadget is 48.75 watts. The peak of solar irradiance was recorded at 12.00 WIT, averaging 900.27 W/m2. The lowest intensity was at 09.00 WIT, averaging 422.78 W/m2. Photovoltaics can produce electrical power at 22.75 watts per hour, leading to a daily electrical energy output of 159.25 Wh. The highest photovoltaics efficiency was 16.37% with 465.3 W/m2 of solar irradiance, 30.7°C of temperature and 2.144 m/s of wind speed. The temperature and wind speed has significantly affected on photovoltaics efficiency.

Green energy powered autonomous IoT catfish feeder prototype based on Arduino Mega and ESP-8266

Catfish is a freshwater fish commodity which is easy to cultivate but has cannibalistic nature. There are 3 phases of catfish cultivation: fingerling, rearing, and fattening. The fattening phase is a stage of nursery to produce catfish according its size to be consumed. During this stage, it’s vital to regularly feed the fish at morning (7 am), noon (1 pm), and evening (5 pm) and monitor water quality so catfish farmers are helped. This tool implements Arduino Mega, ESP-8266, 20 WP solar panel, 755 80W DC motor, servo motor, ultrasonic sensor, fish food container, and DS3231 RTC. This research has 3 scenarios: scenario 1: food given sparingly twice/day, scenario 2: the IoT fish feeder automatically supply food thrice/day at morning (7 am), noon (1 pm), and evening (5 pm). scenario 3: food provided extravagantly twice/day. This research resulted an autonomous IoT fish feeder It is proven that scenario 2 has satisfactory results, fish growth is better 33.3% when compared to scenario 1 and is relatively the same as fish growth in scenario 3. Meanwhile, the amount of food spent is 25% from scenario 3. The level of turbidity is also better at 37.5% compared to scenario 3.

Design of Automated Fish Feeder Using IoT

Abstract: The world's need for seafood is largely met by aquaculture, which calls for improvements in farming practises. In this paper, an Internet of Things (IoT)-powered Automatic Fish Feeder (AFF) system is presented. To collect data in real time, the AFF system makes use of a variety of sensors, such as those that measure ambient factors, fish activity, and water quality. Fish farmers are able to remotely monitor the conditions of the aquatic environment thanks to the processing and wireless transmission of this data by microcontrollers. Farmers may plan and modify feeding schedules, amounts, and feed mixes according to the individual requirements of the fish species using an easy-to-use mobile application. By analysing the gathered data, the system's clever algorithms optimise feeding schedules, guaranteeing that fish get the right nutrition while reducing feed waste. Moreover, by minimising overfeeding—which can result in water contamination and ecological imbalances—the AFF system fosters sustainability. This study shows how IoT technology may be successfully incorporated into aquaculture operations to improve production, save operating costs, and encourage environmental stewardship. The results of this study offer significant insights for the aquaculture sector, opening the door for the global adoption of IoT-based technologies to enhance fish farming methods

Internet of Things Implementation in Automatic Fish Feeding

One of the world's fastest-growing food industries is aquaculture. As a result, aquaculture is a successful industry. Lack of care in the preparation of fish feed is a problem for this industry because it leads to the production of low-quality livestock.This study uses the Arduino microcontroller and ESP 8266 to create an automatic fish feeder that can be remotely controlled using a smartphone. Setting the fish's feeding routine is one way to exercise control. The test method used is the experimental method by conducting 5 times the scheduling time test and 10 times the feed weight measurement test.The test results shows that the tool can control a more regular fish feeding schedule. The percentage accuracy of the automatic fish feed scheduling test reaches 100%, while the percentage accuracy of the feed weight measurement test reaches 90%.

Automatic Demand Fish Feeder

Humans have kept fish for thousands of years for commercial, research, and aesthetic purposes. These fishes are kept in aquariums, ponds, and other containments and require regular feeding and care. Traditional feeding techniques involve manually dispensing the food at regular intervals, they must alsobe able to control all kinds of factors such as feeding, air pumps, light, and the pH value of water, which may affect the fish. Overall, it’s a labor-intensive process. This research aims to develop a simple prototype automatic fish feeder. The product is designed to simplify the process of feeding fish in aquariums or fish farms. The feeder is equipped with obstacle avoidance technology, allowing it to move around the aquarium and ensure equal feeding for all fish. Additionally, the feeder includes a pH sensor, constantly monitoring the water quality in the aquarium to ensure a healthy environment for the fish. This technology not only simplifies the feeding process but also helps to maintain the well-being of aquatic life

Aquaponic Monitoring System and Fish Feeding with Favoriot

Aquaponics is a farming practice that combines the benefits of hydroponics and aquaculture. An Internet of Things (IoT) aquaponics system is used to help collect vast amounts of ecological and agricultural data. An aquaponics system, including a fish tank and planting area, has been completed and set up as an experimental field. The main objectives of this project are to develop and design a monitoring system for aquaponics that can be utilised in many aspects. This project utilises Arduino, Wi-Fi shield and Android applications for monitoring purposes. A pH sensor, temperature and servo motor are used to retrieve and store the data on the Favoriot platform. The result obtained from the sensors was degree temperature, soil moisture, pH, and automatic fish feeder. The system acquires an average performance of 92.5%, considering the data receive and system functionality. In conclusion, the project can monitor the water temperature, soil moisture, pH and provide notifications through the mobile application of the aquaponic monitoring system.

Design of catamaran type fish feeder for aquaculture applications

Water vehicles require good stability and performance to ensure efficient and safe operation with minimum risk of capsizing. The stability and performance of the vehicle depends on the hull form, primary dimensions and general arrangement layout. In this research work, a catamaran was designed for supporting and navigating a fish feeding mechanism developed for aquaculture. Considering the requirements of the fish feeding system, a Wigley hull model has been selected for this study. Beam of the demi-hull was selected as the primary dimension to be optimized for the given dimensions of the hull, so as to strike an optimal balance between stability criteria and cost/feasibility of construction. Through optimization, the best possible hull dimensions and optimal stability conditions of the catamaran were achieved. The designed catamaran fulfilled the minimum criterion for good stability condition. The developed catamaran feeder is expected to revolutionize feeding in aquaculture ponds. Moreover, the efficient field performance of the developed catamaran is encouraging and its application for other aquacultural operations like aeration, harvesting etc. is anticipated. A systematic series design approach was conducted and a family of catamaran design for low-draft applications in aquaculture have been proposed.

Design and implementation of automatic fish feeder (AFF) using microcontroller powered by solar cell: A Contribution to the fish farmers

This study aims to design and test an automatic fish feeder (AFF) controlled by a microcontroller with an electricity supply from a solar cell. To build a reliable and accurate system, input data is collected for design, followed by system development, feasibility analysis, and performance testing. The test results show that AFF works according to the settings of the microcontroller, where the servo motor can open and close the feed channel periodically, three times a day. The feeding schedule is set at 07.00, 12.00, and 16.00. In addition, fundamental indicators including feed conversion ratio (FCR) and feed efficiency (FE) are showing positive results. Through the application of AFF which replaces manual feeding, the FCR is obtained at 1.15 from the initial value of 1.44. Meanwhile, FE increased from 69.4% to 86.8%. Technically, AFF is suitable for use by tilapia and carp farmers.

Development of Automatic Fish Feeding Machine for Integrated Floating Cage Aquageoponic System

Aims: The objective of this work was to develop and evaluate the performance of an automatic fish feeder- to enhance aquacultural practices and farmponds
 Place and Duration of Study: The research study was conducted at Madakasira, (Latitude: 13°56ʹ55.96″ N and Longitude: 77°18ʹ45.38″ E) which is located in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The mean annual temperature and annual rainfall of the study area are 27.6°C and 532 mm, respectively. Most of the rainfall (~80%) is received during South-West monsoon. The experiment study was conducted from March‒June, 2018.
 Methodology: Automatic fish feeder includes both electrical and mechanical mechanism. The materials includes for the development of the feeder was cone shape hopper, top covering lid, base, 12V DC motor, 12V 7Ah Rechargeable Lead Acid Battery, Arduino Uno, Bluetooth HC-05 module, 5v Relay, DC-DC step-down converter. The developed feeder was operated with the help of mobile app by using Bluetooth HC-05 module. The spreading distance and amount of feed spread, opening angles of the feeder were evaluated during the research period.
 Results: Our results showed that the amount of feed spread was maximum (140 g m-1) with 1.0 m height and was minimum (101 g m-1) at 0.2 m height. This results clearly shows that the fish feeder has to be kept at maximum height so that it covers maximum spreading distance with minimum loss of fish feed by drift. With increase in height of the machine from ground surface, the spreading distance of the fish feed from the feeding machine was also increased.
 Conclusion: Farmers were satisfied with this new technology which helps to avoid manual feeding and provides the clean environment.

In this study, the authors made a tool to monitor ornamental fish feeders in the aquarium automatically based on a scheduled time and according to the number of doses, so that it can help ease the work of ornamental fish hobbyists. Based on the time used is 08.00 and 17.00 for ornamental fish feed. This system uses an Arduino Uno microcontroller as the main controller, RTC (Real Time Clock) for scheduled feeding, and MotorServo as a feed cover driver. By using the above tool components that support the operation of the tool, the aquarium ornamental fish feeder can automatically work according to the selected schedule that has been set. This makes it easier for hobbyists to care for ornamental fish in the aquarium. And very effective for the development of ornamental fish in the aquarium. Fabricate the Auto-aquaculture Structure with Android Monitoring System

Abstract Based on the Android monitoring system, the automated fish feeder has been developed. The system provides a convenient and reliable solution for fish farmers. This system includes a fish feeder that distributes food at predetermined intervals. The Android application allows farmers to monitor and control the feeding process remotely. The application displays the current feeding schedule. At the same time, the users can adjust the frequency and amount of food dispensed. The alarm function can send the notification information to the farmer’s mobile phone if the feeder experiences any issues or requires maintenance. By automating the feeding process and providing real-time monitoring, the system can help farmers optimize fish growth and health while reducing the time and effort required for artificial feeding.
