Based on LabVIEW Resistance Method Temperature Testing for Traction Transformers and Motor Winding

Temperature is an important parameter for the characterization of the transformer and the motor running. Winding temperature test according to the actual operation of the traction transformer and motor temperature protection device requirements, in-depth study, temperature test of the traction transformer based on virtual instrument and traction motor winding resistance method, the method using LabVIEW to develop test software, respectively, for data acquisition, data playback, data analysis and processing, data file management functions, and temperature test equipment, not only real-time test system, but also post-processing the data after the test, in order to analysis of the factors that affect the temperature of the windings. Validity of the method is proved by experiments.

EP Evaluator, Release 6 (EE6) is a Windows-based package of statistical applications for clinical laboratory method evaluation. Minimum system requirements are an IBM-compatible PC with Pentium CPU, 32-bit Windows operating system, 32 MB of RAM, and 50 MB of hard drive space. The package includes a CD ROM, user’s manual, and the associated NCCLS documents (NCCLS EP5-A, EP7-A, EP9-A2, EP10-A2, EP12-A, C28-A, and GP10-A). For this evaluation, the Professional version of the software was installed and run on a Pentium 4 platform operating under Windows XP; no problems were noted at installation, although a few isolated errors did occur during software operation. The spiral-bound user’s manual contains instructions for program operation and file management functions. There are separate chapters for each of the 20 statistical modules, and sample data sets (many of which match those preloaded into the software) with corresponding images of parameter, data entry, and results screens effectively illustrate program operation. Several additional chapters offer valuable guidance for the design and interpretation of method-evaluation studies. I did note some inconsistency between the user’s manual and the software, but the manual is generally well organized and clearly written. Input of data is accomplished through several routes, including manual entry, transfer from previous versions of EP Evaluator, copy/import from spreadsheet files, or direct capture from clinical analyzers via user-supplied instrument interface programs. Data may also be transferred from EE6 to spreadsheet programs by copying/pasting values or by exporting to comma-separated value (CSV) files. Performance analysis of client-server storage systems

The performance analysis of a system in which storage is provided by a file server node on a network of client processors is discussed. The server controls a hierarchy of storage devices, and provides all the necessary file management functions. The clients are large mainframe systems that have their own local storage devices. The movement of files among the various storage levels is managed by a hierarchical storage management system. A closed queuing network model of the client-server storage system is used to analyze the performance of the system for various file movement criteria and to study the tradeoffs between recalling a file and accessing it by a distributed file system. Application of generic risk assessment software to radioactive waste disposal

Monte Carlo methods are used in a variety of applications such as risk assessment, probabilistic safety assessment and reliability analysis. While Monte Carlo methods are simple to use, their application can be laborious. A new microcomputer software package has been developed that substantially reduces the effort required to conduct Monte Carlo analyses. The Sensitivity and Uncertainty Analysis Shell (SUNS) is a software shell in the sense that a wide variety of application models can be incorporated into it. SUNS offers several useful features including a menu-driven environment, a flexible input editor, both Monte Carlo and Latin Hypercube sampling, the ability to perform both repeated trials and parametric studies in a single run, and both statistical and graphical output. SUNS also performs all required file management functions.

An intelligent disk controller - A processor system for file management and querry functions

Access to secondary storage is an increasing bottleneck in overall system performance. Spectacular developments in the area of decreasing the aggravating difference between the speeds of main and secondary memory by technical improvements cannot be expected in the foreseeable future. This paper introduces another way by moving transaction-oriented file management and query functions to an Intelligent Disk Controller. This may be seen as an extended hardware interface to external devices for operating systems. The file management functions were originally designed as part of an operating system kernel and have now been off-loaded to the Intelligent Disk Controller, where they are executed concurrently. Query functions are implemented as pattern-matching operations and, together with the file management functions, can be regarded as a high-level object-oriented disk interface for such applications as office automation and for accessing nonstandard databases or knowledge bases.
