Gender Representation in EFL Coursebook Used for Islamic Elementary School of Bengkulu: A Content Analysis

The goal of this study is to identify the bias of gender in the coursebooks. So, the representation of males and females in the coursebook will be analyzed in this research. This study focuses on Gender Representation in EFL coursebook used in Islamic elementary school in Bengkulu city. The object of this research is the Coursebook entitled “Grow With English 4” (A Thematic English Coursebook for elementary Students published by Erlangga, Jakarta, 2017). This study is a qualitative study that uses content analysis as the method of research to describe the content of the coursebook. The content analysis in this research will focus on six aspects based on Logsdon. They are; number of male/female pictures, number of male/female mentioned, number of male/female roles, number of male/female games, number of male/female roles models, and pattern of mentioning male/female names. The results of the study showed that gender represented unequally in the grow with English 4. males are more visible in five aspects including pictures, male/female mentioned, gender roles, female,male games, and gender role models. However there are some weaknessess that found in the course book needed to be improved so that the objective of the learning will be achieve by students maximally.

Teacher’s Gender-Biased Attitude on Female Students Performances in Science Subjects in Secondary Schools in the Kumba Municipality

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of teachers gender-biased attitude on female students performance in science subjects. Materials and Methods: It was a survey study using three sets of questionnaire, Data were obtained form 172 parents, 298 students and 79 science teachers in Kumba Municipality. Descriptive and inferential statistical techniques were applied to obtain percentages, bar charts, means, standard deviation, x2 – and Z- values. Findings: The data analysis showed that teachers attitudes towards the female students tend to affect these students’ achievements in science subjects. More of the female students (38 out of 49) who said teachers had positive attitudes passed than those who said teachers attitudes were negative (7 out of 97). Implications to Theory, Practice and Policy: Based on the results, the researcher recommends that; Teachers should be aware of the differences boys and girls bring to the learning of science, girls should be encouraged to observe female role models in science careers and strive to be like them.

Aligning With SDG 5: Addressing Barriers and Fostering Female Participation in Stem Education in India

Objective: This study investigates the barriers preventing female participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in India, aligning with SDG 5 (Gender Equality). The research aims to identify demotivation factors faced by female students and develop participant-informed recommendations to foster greater female engagement in these disciplines. Method: A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing open-ended surveys, narrative interviews, and focus groups with female students across various educational levels in India. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify patterns and themes related to the barriers and potential solutions for increasing female participation in STEM. Results: The study reveals key barriers, including cultural expectations, gender discrimination, institutional biases, lack of female role models, and social pressures, which discourage women from pursuing STEM careers. Specific challenges such as safety concerns, biased judgments, and limited mentorship opportunities were also highlighted. Based on these findings, several recommendations emerged, including policy reforms, inclusive curricula, gender sensitization programs, mentorship initiatives, and early engagement activities. Contribution: The study contributes to the understanding of gender disparities in STEM education in India by offering actionable insights for policymakers, educators, and communities. It emphasizes a multifaceted approach combining cultural change, policy reform, institutional support, and targeted interventions to foster an inclusive environment for women in STEM. This research aligns with SDG 5 by advocating for strategies that promote gender equity and empower women in traditionally male-dominated fields. Future research should focus on evaluating the long-term effectiveness of these interventions across diverse contexts and disciplines.

Gender- and personality-specific differences in academic qualifications, research motivation, and attractiveness of leadership positions: a survey among radiologists from Germany.

This study investigated gender- and personality-specific differences in academic qualifications, research motivation, and options to increase the attractiveness of leadership positions in radiology.A validated questionnaire with 66 questions was distributed via the German Roentgen Society and individually sent to 4,500 radiologists in Germany. Participants were asked about their gender. Personality dimensions were assessed using the OCEAN (Big Five) model. Multivariable regression analyses were employed.Of 510 included participants (women 237 (46.5%)), men were four times more likely to have acquired an associated professorship (AP, Habilitation Privatdozent) ((odds ratio (OR) 4.39 (2.22-8.67)). Also, they planned to achieve an AP more frequently (OR 2.87 (1.47-5.61)). The only gender-specific motivator for an AP was the option to become eligible for the position of chief physician (men OR 2.56 (1.07-6.15)). Mentors increased the probability of acquiring an AP (OR 2.07 (1.13-3.80)) or striving for an AP (4.82 (2.39-9.73)). Female mentees were likelier to have female mentors (OR 4.62 (1.68-12.73)). To increase the attractiveness of leadership positions, female radiologists perceived gender balance at the management level (OR 3.32 (2.28-4.82)), top sharing (OR 2.22 (1.48-3.32)), and better work-life balance (OR 2.02 (1.19-3.43)) as more relevant than male radiologists. More pronounced openness (OR 1.62 (1.10-2.38)) and extroversion (OR 1.45 (1.07-1.97)) were positively associated with planning an AP. More pronounced agreeableness (OR 0.67 (0.50-0.91)) was negatively associated.Research motivation is mainly independent of gender. Academic qualification varies with gender and personality dimensions. The lack of STEM vocations and gender gap in secondary education students

The gender gap in STEM vocations among high school students still remains a troubling reality. Several studies indicate that students in general have less interest in science and technology subjects, and this disparity is even more distinguishable among female students. In fact, the aforementioned gender gap in STEM begins to manifest itself at an early age and worsens during adolescence. Some of the multiple causes include cultural factors, gender stereotypes, and lack of female role models. Therefore, it is essential to promote gender equality and encourage inclusion and diversity in the educational environment as a key measure to reduce the gap. This is why in this study comprehensive research was carried out to analyse the factors that contribute to the gender gap in STEM careers. To this end, a survey was conducted of approximately 1,000 secondary education students from a range of centres in the Canary Islands. The survey yielded insights into the direct influence of close references on students and the lack of female role models. This allowed the identification of effective measures to increase women’s participation in these fields. One of the suggested solutions is the implementation of practical workshops, in which female figures play a key role. These workshops are used to demonstrate to students that there are numerous role models nearby who can motivate and encourage them to explore and develop their interest in the field of science and technology. By providing said opportunities and role models, our aim is to build their confidence and provide them with the necessary tools to take advantage of all the opportunities that the STEM field has to offer.

Gender Differences in Perception of Neurosurgery as a Career Choice in Pakistan: A Nationwide Cross-Sectional Survey

A low neurosurgeon-to-patient ratio persists to be a problem in many developing nations including Pakistan. Concurrent gender disparities further exacerbate the challenges posed by the already limited workforce. An understanding of the perceptions of neurosurgery among female early career doctors is crucial in the evolution of the field in terms of both, workforce strength and inclusivity. A cross-sectional study was conducted across public and private medical schools of Pakistan. A close-ended self-administered questionnaire was employed to assess subject-reported challenges and perceptions regarding neurosurgery. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 28, and p< 0.05 was considered significant. The influence of these perceptions on the choice of neurosurgery as a career was determined by binary logistic regression analysis. Of the 387 responses received from over 45 institutions across the country, 55.6% were females and 44.4% were male respondents. Compared to men, women were more likely to opt out of neurosurgery due to fear of problems with parenting (p<0.001), absence of daycare facilities (p<0.001), lack of female role models (p=0.001), fear of gender discrimination (p<0.001), and the mental (p=0.04) and physical distress (p=0.008) associated with neurosurgery. Binary logistic regression revealed that these concerns were responsible for an increased likelihood of opting out of neurosurgery among female medical students and intern doctors. Significant differences exist in how male and female medical students perceive neurosurgery as a career choice. Interventions including availability of day care facilities for children, creation of inclusive workplace environment, and promotion of mentorship programs catering to women can help bridge this gap and contribute to evolution of the field of neurosurgery in the developing world.

Impact of female role models and mentors in career development: evidence from the Korean Central Government

ABSTRACT Considerable research has been conducted on women’s career development within the Korean government. However, there is little to no research that targets female civil servants at specific grades – in this case Grade 5 – to examine organizational factors that may influence their decision to remain in public service or strive for higher-ranked positions. Utilizing survey data from 81 female civil servants from the Korean Central Government, this study employed ordered logistic regression and qualitative analysis to investigate the perceived influence of same-gender role models and mentors, including their impact on promotion aspirations and turnover intentions. Findings reveal that these influential figures have a nuanced impact on women’s turnover intentions; however, they did not lead to a significant impact on promotion aspirations. Still, the women in this study reported other positive influences from same-gender role models and mentors, such as workplace guidance, emotional and cognitive support, assistance with problem-solving, and career planning.

From Potential to Action: Strategies for Supporting Female Founders in the Pre-Start-Up Phase

In today’s global economy, the role of start-ups is recognized as crucial for a country's competitiveness. Creating a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem is therefore essential to enable founders to realize their potential optimally. Notably, there is a significant gender disparity in start-ups, suggesting a vast untapped entrepreneurial potential among women. This research aims to enhance the utilization of female start-up potential by providing actionable recommendations, based on an empirical analysis of the pre-start-up process of (potential) female founders. Through a qualitative research methodology, this study investigates the factors influencing women's journey towards entrepreneurship, considering diverse biographies and life situations. Interviews with ten women showed the complexity of the pre-start-up phase and the necessity for a broad support system. The study identifies several key areas for action to foster female entrepreneurship. Firstly, increasing awareness and visibility of self-employment as a viable career path for women is crucial, requiring more female role models and media representation to challenge traditional gender roles and stereotypes. This could cultivate a natural inclination towards entrepreneurship and sectors with high start-up activity. Moreover, lessening the disproportionate burden of family responsibilities on women is essential, suggesting enhancements in childcare facilities and encouraging shared domestic duties. The research further suggests the implementation of support programs to reduce barriers and provide a realistic view of entrepreneurship, alongside the potential benefits of mentorship in both pre- and post-start-up phases. Women's risk-averse, cautious approach in the pre-start-up process often leads to hesitance in developing innovative projects. Encouraging a focus on market needs and early engagement with potential customers, alongside proactive network building, seeking co-founders, or outsourcing, can address knowledge gaps and reduce uncertainties, making self-employment a more attractive option. This study emphasizes the importance of a collaborative effort among various stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to unlock the entrepreneurial potential among women.

Organisational innovation and gender diversity: Insights from the civil engineering industry

Orientation: The civil engineering industry is vital in ensuring that infrastructure development has a beneficial social, economic, and environmental impact.Research purpose: This study explored the role of gender diversity and organisational innovation with a view to address social ills in the civil engineering industry in South Africa.Motivation for the study: The study is premised on the paucity in extant research and responds to calls for more research on the role of gender diversity and organisational innovation with a view to address social ills in the civil engineering industry.Research design, approach and method: Employing the interpretivist paradigm, 15 civil engineering professionals were purposively selected based on their extensive experience and comprehensive deep knowledge of the industry and interviewed using the semi-structured approach of interviews using the Microsoft Teams (MS Teams) platform. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the interview transcripts.Main findings: From thematic analysis, the following themes emerged from the primary data: skewed gender representation, females’ retention challenges, creation of an inclusive environment, building a strategic female structure, inclusive innovation, and role models and mentors’ deficit.Practical and/or managerial implications: The civil engineering industry needs to empower women occupying positions of power and not just fill the numbers through the removal of the male gatekeeping effect as the current status shows male dominance. It is also critical to create an inclusive environment, grow the pool of females to build the numbers critical for gender diversity, particularly at the top, and promote mentorship opportunities.Contributions and/or value add: This article advances knowledge on the role of gender diversity and organisational innovation with a view to address social ills in the civil engineering industry and exposes the shared patriarchal values that many organisations appear to promote. It further highlights that society still struggles with infrastructure that does not address its needs and points the civil engineering industry towards the current skill sets and experiences of its female workforce, and how to leverage those capabilities to benefit the industry and the entire society.

The Glass Ceiling in Global Health: Perspectives of Female and Male Anesthesiologists.

Gender equity is essential for improving health outcomes globally. Despite comprising 75% of the global health workforce and dominating academic global health programs, women remain underrepresented in leadership positions in global health organizations. Our study aimed to identify potential gender differences in the beliefs and attitudes regarding barriers that women anesthesiologists encounter in pursuing careers and leadership roles in global health and to identify recommendations for improving gender equity in global health. We conducted a cross-sectional online survey focusing on career leadership opportunities and challenges uniquely faced by women clinicians in global health. We obtained permission from the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists to distribute our questionnaire to their leadership committee members during 2 months (May-July 2022). The questionnaire was distributed to 164 study participants with 67 individuals (44.8% female) based in 38 different countries completing the survey (response rate 40.9%). Overall, 47.8% of the participants aspired to a leadership position in global health and 58.2% agreed women face unique barriers to global health leadership (70.0% of women compared to 48.6% of men; P = .081). Female gender (odds ratio [OR], 19.22, P = .004) and divorced marital status (OR, 746.26, P = .004) were positively associated and African ethnicity (OR, 0.002, P = .017) was negatively associated with the perception of gender bias in their career growth. The main challenges included balancing work and family responsibilities, lack of female mentors or role models, gender-based discrimination, and limited opportunities for career advancement. Men acknowledged these challenges but reported personally experiencing them to a lesser extent, particularly concerning lack of opportunities (P = .005), inadequate pay (P = .000), and lack of training (P = .000). Gender disparities exist in the pursuit of global health careers. This study underscored that more women than men perceive barriers in pursuing leadership roles in global health and that men generally encounter these obstacles to a lesser extent. Female representation in leadership positions could be supported through evidence-informed policies that promote work-life balance, improve mentorship, offer equal opportunities for career advancement and adequate pay, and combat gender-based discrimination.

Andi Siti Nurhasanah and Her Existence as a Female Scholar, Educator, and Role Model for Students and Her Community

Throughout every era, there have always been individuals specially chosen by Allah to open the doors of goodness (mafātiih al-khaer) and close the doors of evil (maghāliq al-syarr). They act with utmost sincerity for the betterment of the community, nurturing the next generation, enriching the nation's life, and dedicating their entire lives to the field of education. Their contributions should be immortalized to serve as a memory and a guiding light for future generations. In the midst of the current crisis of role models, we intend to present the results of our research on one such figure, Andi Siti Nurhasanah, a female scholar and educator worthy of being a role model, a religious reference, and an exemplary figure for today's generation. This research is qualitative in nature, taking the form of a life story, with primary data sources derived from interviews and domain analysis. The study concludes that Andi Siti Nurhasanah has proven herself as a venerable educational scholar worthy of emulation based on several dimensions, including: (1) exemplifying respect for knowledge and honoring teachers; (2) demonstrating excellence in memorizing and preserving the entire 30 juz of the Quran; (3) making optimal use of her time, leaving no moment wasted in her life; (4) displaying dedication to her profession as an educator wherever she goes; (5) embodying a strong social spirit, marked by great generosity and a willingness to share with others.

Breaking Through the Glass Wall: How Organizations Can Support Women Freelancers

Abstract: This article explores the "glass walls" women freelancers and entrepreneurs perceive as barriers to their professional advancement and business development, through an examination of existing research on unconscious gender biases and social norms that delineate how subtle stereotypes associate leadership more readily with masculine traits, undermining some women's confidence in their expertise while also revealing studies that show this dynamic hinders women's self-promotion and willingness to position themselves as prospective business owners. Additionally, the piece investigates how closely-knit 'old boy's clubs' and networking traditions privileging stereotypically masculine social activities disadvantage women seeking clients within their industries, while organizational dynamics like homogenous cultures and family-unfriendly policies unintentionally exacerbate these issues, limiting women's access to opportunity. The article concludes by outlining practical, research-backed strategies organizations can implement to break down glass walls through inclusive practices such as auditing for biases, establishing mentorship programs, and showcasing female role models, sending a strong message that all entrepreneurs will find supportive communities where talent alone determines success through a judicious, data-driven approach that progressively advances equity within the freelance sphere.

Picture a Scientist—Diverse Role Models Show that Science is for Everyone

Who do you picture when you think of the word “scientist”? Do you fit that image? Although science should be for everyone, some groups, including girls, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, and more are often discouraged from becoming scientists. Research shows that girls in particular start to lose interest in pursuing science careers during middle school. But part of the problem for every group is that you cannot be what you cannot see. So how do we change who students picture as scientists? We tested whether a playful STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) program that uses comic books, trading cards featuring a variety of female role models, games, and outdoor exploration could change students’ minds. Our data shows that after the In Their Eyes: Conservation + Comics program, more students think that girls can be scientists, too!

Opportunities for Upper Management Positions for Women Employees

Gender inequality persists in Sri Lanka due to structural and cultural barriers, impacting women's economic, political, and personal prospects. It has observed significant gender disparities remain in job positions and executive levels in many Sri Lankan companies. This research aims to uncover the reasons behind these imbalances and identify barriers hindering women's career advancement, ultimately contributing to gender equity solutions. It encompasses three specific objectives: scrutinizing the criteria for job promotions in the company, identifying barriers hindering women's advancement, and evaluating the impact of women-specific characteristics on career progression. Data collection involved surveying 32 females at the managerial level and conducting exploratory studies with male counterparts. Both primary and secondary data sources were used, with inferential and descriptive statistical methods applied for analysis. This research delves into the complex landscape of gender inequality within the company. External factors like political connections shape promotions, while organizational, social, and individual factors collectively contribute to the disparity. Low female representation in decision-making roles, cultural stereotypes, and the absence of female role models pose substantial hurdles. While women specific characteristics may not heavily influence promotions, addressing these multifaceted barriers is vital for advancing gender equality in the workplace.

A reflexive thematic analysis exploring the experiences of undergraduate women in STEM in Bangladesh

Globally, a significant gender gap is reported in the enrolment of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Bangladesh reports one of the lowest female stakeholder percentages in STEM but has increased demand for skilled STEM professionals. Therefore, this qualitative study explores the experiences of undergraduate women in STEM in Bangladesh. Seven female undergraduate students were recruited using purposeful sampling, and a semi-structured interview was conducted. Reflexive thematic analysis, along with a phenomenological approach, was utilized for data analysis to gain a better understanding of their experiences. The four key themes that emerged were the gendered nature of interactions, the impact of societal barriers, underrepresentation and role models, self-identity, and psychological outcomes. The findings suggested multiple factors like gender-biased interactions in classrooms, lack of access to STEM resources, and lack of female role models negatively impacted students’ academic experiences. Moreover, poor self-esteem in female students contributed to imposter syndrome and heightened career anxiety.

Challenging gender stereotypes: Young women's views on female role models in secondary school science textbooks

International Women's Day highlights both women's achievements and ongoing efforts toward global gender equality. Gender disparities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) affect a country's innovation and ability to tackle global challenges. Therefore, recent national education policies have looked for ways to promote gender equality, particularly in the STEM subjects. One problem is that teaching materials often lack female representation and recognition of female achievements and contributions to STEM subjects, affecting how female students perceive science. The study examines how female students aged 15 to 18 are impacted by gender disparity in their physics teaching materials and what importance they place on female role models. It encompasses 20 group interviews with female students (n = 80) in Switzerland, which were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results show that, aside from Marie Curie, female scientists are largely unknown to female students, contributing to the perception of physics as a male domain. Female role models are crucial for fostering interest, motivation, and self-esteem in STEM subjects. However, internalized gender stereotypes and fears of negative reactions from male peers counter the demand for greater visibility of female scientists. Despite these challenges, most female students advocate for more female role models in STEM to inspire future generations of female students to pursue a STEM career and foster positive social change.

Identification of Dropout Reasons in Public Girls Secondary Schools in South Punjab Pakistan

This study examines the root causes of the elevated percentages of female students discontinuing their education in public secondary schools in South Punjab, Pakistan. The research used a mixed-methods approach, combining surveys and interviews with children, parents, teachers, and educational administrators to collect thorough data. The key findings suggest that dropout rates are highly influenced by socio-economic factors, cultural norms, early marriages, and insufficient educational infrastructure. Moreover, the problem is worsened by gender-based discrimination and the absence of female role models in the education system. The report emphasizes the immediate necessity for governmental interventions targeting the enhancement of school infrastructure, the advancement of gender parity, and the provision of financial incentives to bolster girls' education in this particular area.

How entrepreneurial role models impact on entrepreneurial outcomes: A gender perspective

This paper examines whether male and female students respond differently when exposed to predominantly masculine or feminine role models. Drawing on Social Cognitive Career Theory, we explore if the exposition of individuals to entrepreneurial role models can significantly influence their entrepreneurial outcomes in terms of entrepreneurial intentions (EI), entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) and entrepreneurial learning (EL). We collected data from 106 engineering students attending an entrepreneurial program in 2019/20 with an exposition to a prevalent male entrepreneurial role model, and from 88 engineering students attending the same program in 2022/23 where the exposition was a prevalent female entrepreneurial role model. A pre- and post-course survey was run in both years to measure differences in ESE, EI and EL. Results reveal a gender effect in EI, as female role models boost female students’ confidence and improve their intention to start entrepreneurial activities. EL increased independently by the gender. Finally, female role models impact the ESE of female students, while male role models impact both. This research extends intention-based analysis by incorporating gendered structural barriers, shedding light on their demonstrable influence on entrepreneurial outcomes.

Development Of Comic Media To Enhance Knowledge And Attitudes Of Adolescent Girls Towards Personal Hygiene

Introduction: This research aims to explore and design a comic book cover design that can attract the attention of adolescents, considering input from a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Visual style and aesthetics of the comic are considered crucial to engage the primary target audience, which is adolescents. Materials &amp; Methods: This study used a qualitative approach to explore the development of an Islamic-themed comic suitable for the pesantren (Islamic boarding school) community. The research employed a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) approach to gather input and preferences from adolescents regarding the cover design, characters, storyline, and visual aesthetics of the comic. The FGD discussion results were then used as a basis to design a comic that aligns with the target audience. Results: The development of an Islamic-themed comic for the pesantren community requires attention to several critical aspects. First, the comic must prioritize the conveyance of moral messages and Islamic teachings through its visual aesthetics, featuring scenes that reflect the ethics, morality, and religious practices upheld by the pesantren. The use of widely recognized Islamic symbols, such as Arabic calligraphy and Islamic emblems, can reinforce the Islamic identity of the comic. The selection of warm and neutral colors is also essential to create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, which is characteristic of the religious context. A simpler, cleaner, and more realistic artistic style is generally preferred by the pesantren community. Attention to representational ethics, such as the selection of modest clothing and character appearances that reflect propriety and dignity, must also be considered. Finally, the visual aesthetics of the comic should reflect the local cultural context of the pesantren, to enrich the visual experience of the readers and strengthen the identity of the pesantren. The FGD results emphasize that the comic book cover design should be simple yet appealing, using vibrant colors that can captivate adolescents. The Japanese or Korean anime visual style is considered most suitable to the current tastes of adolescents. However, Islamic values must be maintained, such as in the character’s appearance and attitude, which should reflect an Islamic personality. Furthermore, the main character of the comic should embody a diligent and positive female role model to inspire adolescent readers. The storyline is designed to provide a comprehensive and educational narrative about personal hygiene in the life of a pesantren. Conclusion: The findings of this research emphasize the importance of a simple yet appealing comic book cover design, utilizing Japanese or Korean anime styles to capture the attention of adolescents while still maintaining Islamic values. The visual aesthetics of the comic must reflect the moral message of Islam through the use of Islamic symbols, appropriate color choices, and a simple yet realistic art style.

Feasibility of an After-School Physical Activity Intervention for Adolescent Girls

ABSTRACT Background Adolescent girls are at an increased risk of low physical activity and the associated health consequences. Girls Can Move!, an after-school intervention guided by social cognitive theory, was designed to increase physical activity. Purpose To examine the feasibility and initial effectiveness of Girls Can Move! Methods The 8-week pre-post intervention provided low-active adolescent female participants with a variety of physical activities led by active female role models. Attendance, weekly process evaluations, and a post-intervention focus group were used to assess satisfaction and feasibility. At pre- and post-intervention, participants wore an accelerometer for 7 days to measure physical activity. Results Of the 17 enrolled participants, 13 (11.7 ± .7 years, 82% Black/African American or multiracial) completed the intervention. The average attendance rate was 82%. On a scale from 1 to 5, participants reported the sessions were fun (4.5 ± .6) and increased their confidence (4.1±.5) and physical activity (4.1±.5). There were moderate-to-large increases in objectively measured physical activity (d = .71). Discussion Girls Can Move! is feasible and should be tested using a randomized controlled trial design. Translation to Health Education Practice Girls Can Move! can be implemented in after-school settings with the support of university and community partners to promote physical activity among adolescent girls.
