Influence of Surfactant Types on the Anti-Corrosion Performance of Phosphate Chemical Conversion Coated Mg-8wt.%Li Alloy

In this work, the morphology, anti-corrosion performance and degradation mechanisms of two phosphate chemical conversion coatings containing the AEO (fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether) and AES (fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sodium sulfate) on an as-cast Mg-8wt.%Li alloy were explored and compared. Although two coating layers had a petal-shaped structure and were composed of leaf-shaped particles, the coating layer of the AES-coated sample was relatively dense due to the smaller size of the formed petal-shaped structure. Based on the electrochemical data and hydrogen evolution measurements, the corrosion protectability of the coating layer on the AES-coated sample was better than that on the AEO-coated sample. The determined corrosion current densities (icorr) of the AES-coated and AEO-coated samples in the 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution were, respectively, 7.8 mA·cm−2 and 11.7 mA·cm−2, whereas the icorr value of the coated sample without a surfactant was 36.2 mA·cm−2.

Effects of surfactant types on anthracite dust wettability: Experimental and molecular simulations

To study the wetting mechanism of surfactants at the solid–liquid interface of anthracite, a combination of experiments and molecular simulation was used to explore the adsorption and wetting processes of four surfactants, namely, fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether N = 9 (AEO9), Triton X-100, rapid penetrant T (PRT), and sodium alkyl ether sulfate (AES) on anthracite. The wetting mechanism of surfactants on anthracite was analyzed at both macroscopic and microscopic levels by surface tension, contact angle, settling time, and changes in surface morphology and functional groups on the anthracite surface. The presence of OH-π and C = O was determined to significantly enhance anthracite wettability. The anthracite/surfactant/water system was constructed from a microscopic perspective, and the interaction energies, relative concentration distributions along the Z-axis, diffusion coefficient (D) of water molecules, radial distribution functions (RDF) of hydrophilic groups and water molecules, and coordination numbers of the components were analyzed. The results show that the wetting effect depends on the adsorption state of the surfactant at the anthracite/water interface and the strength of the interaction between the surfactant and water molecules. The addition of surfactants enhances the adsorption thickness of water molecules along the Z-axis and generates more hydrogen bonds, which play a role in fixing water molecules and lead to a decrease in the D of water molecules. RPT forms the highest number of hydrogen bonds with water molecules and has the lowest D of 0.479 × 10-5 cm2/s, indicating strong wetting ability. The RDF of O atoms in surfactants and water molecules shows a similar trend, with two peaks one strong and one weak. The coordination numbers are 1.356, 1.057, 1.003, and 0.903, respectively. The final wettability of the surfactant on the anthracite depends on the synergistic interaction between the oxygen functional groups (OGs) as compared to the coordination number of the individual OGs.

Study on the Synthesis, Surface Activity, and Self-Assembly Behavior of Anionic Non-Ionic Gemini Surfactants.

The use of surfactants in oil recovery can effectively improve crude oil recovery rate. Due to the enhanced salt and temperature resistance of surfactant molecules by non-ionic chain segments, anionic groups have good emulsifying stability. Currently, there are many studies on anionic non-ionic surfactants for oil recovery in China, but there is relatively little systematic research on introducing EOs into hydrophobic alkyl chains, especially on their self-assembly behavior. This article proposes a simple and effective synthesis method, using 3-aminopropane sulfonic acid, fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether, and epichlorohydrin as raw materials, to insert EO into hydrophobic alkyl chains and synthesize a series of new anionic non-ionic Gemini surfactants (CnEO-5, n = 8, 12, 16). The surface activity, thermodynamic properties, and self-assembly behavior of these surfactants were systematically studied through surface tension, conductivity, steady-state fluorescence probes, transmission electron microscopy, and molecular dynamics simulations. The surface tension test results show that CnEO-5 has high surface activity and is higher than traditional single chain surfactants and structurally similar anionic non-ionic Gemini surfactants. Additionally, thermodynamic parameters (e.g., ΔG°mic ΔH°mic ΔS°mic et al. indicate that CnEO-5 molecules are exothermic and spontaneous during the micellization process. DLS, p-values, and TEM results indicate that anionic non-ionic Gemini surfactants with shorter hydrophobic chains (such as C8EO-5) tend to form larger vesicles in aqueous solutions, which are formed in a tail to tail and staggered manner; Negative non-ionic Gemini surfactants with longer hydrophobic chains (such as C12EO-5, C16EO-5) tend to form small micelles. The test results indicate that CnEO-5 anionic non-ionic Gemini surfactants have certain application prospects in improving crude oil recovery.

Synthesis and emulsion stability of salt resistant viscosity reducer for heavy oil reservoirs with varying salinities

To address the inadequate salt resistance of viscosity reducers and their limited applicability to reservoirs with single salinity, we synthesized salt-resistant viscosity reducers PANxAn in this study. These compounds were derived from fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether acrylate, N-alkyl acrylamide, acrylamide, and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid. The structures were identified using nuclear magnetic hydrogen spectroscopy. We investigated the effects of the hydrophilic group ethoxy-chain length (n = 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22) and hydrophobic group alkyl-chain length (x = 12, 14, 16, and 18) on the salt resistance, interfacial activity, wettability, interfacial viscoelasticity and emulsification viscosity reduction performance of the viscosity reducers. Futher, the structures of the viscosity reducers which can adapt to different salinities were determined. Based on the emulsification viscosity reduction effect, PAN14A16, PAN12A16, PAN12A18, PAN12A20/PAN16A16 and PAN12A22/PAN18A16 adapted to salinities range of 2 × 104-6 × 104, 4 × 104-8 × 104, 6 × 104-10 × 104, 8 × 104-12 × 104 and 10 × 104-14 × 104 mg/L, respectively. At the optimal salinity, PANxAn reduced the oil–water interfacial tension from 28.3 to 5.0 mN/m, dynamic contact angle from 130.0° to 61.0°, and heavy oil viscosity from 454.6 to 60.0 mPa·s with a viscosity reduction rate of 86.80 %. The synthesis of salt-resistant PANxAn provides theoretical guidance and application value for enhancing the recovery efficiency of viscosity-reducer flooding in high-salinity heavy oil reservoirs.

Experimental study on the impact of “IDS + JFCS” complex wetting agent on the characteristics of coal bodies

As China's coal mines have transitioned to deep mining, the ground stress within the coal seams has progressively increased, resulting in reduced permeability and poor wetting ability of conventional wetting agents. Consequently, these agents have become inadequate in fulfilling the requirements for preventing washouts during deep mining operations. In response to the aforementioned challenges, a solution was proposed to address the issues by formulating a composite wetting agent. This composite wetting agent combines a conventional surfactant with a chelating agent called tetrasodium iminodisuccinate (IDS). By conducting a meticulous screening of surfactant monomer solutions, the ideal formulation for the composite wetting agent was determined by combining the monomer surfactant with IDS. Extensive testing, encompassing evaluations of the composite solution's apparent strain, contact angle measurements, and alterations in the oxygenated functional groups on the coal surface, led to the identification of the optimal composition. This composition consisted of IDS serving as the chelating agent and fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether (JFCS).Subsequent assessment of the physical and mechanical performance of the coal briquettes treated with the composite wetting agent revealed notable enhancements. These findings signify significant advancements in the field and hold promising implications. Following the application of the composite wetting agent, notable reductions were observed in the dry basis ash and dry basis full sulfur of coal. Additionally, the water content within the coal mass increased significantly, leading to a substantial enhancement in the wetting effect of the coal body. This enhanced wetting effect effectively mitigated the coal body’s inclination towards impact, thereby offering technical support for optimizing water injection into coal seams and preventing as well as treating impact ground pressure.

Study on the inhibition effect and mechanism of N2 twin-fluid water mist with modified chloride compounds on LPG explosion

In order to develop environmontal friendly and high efficient LPG explosion inhibitors, experiments were carried out to investigate the impact of AeO9 (fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether) and Sicare2235 (silicone surfactant) surfactants on the suppression effect of N2 twin-fluid water mist containing modified chloride compounds on 6 % LPG/air explosion. Results showed that: The addition of a single surfactant can significantly reduce the surface tension of the droplets and improve the explosion suppression efficiency of N2 twin-fluid water mist containing chloride additives. However, chloride additives have selectivity towards surfactants. There are obvious differences in the synergistic inhibition effect of different chlorides and surfactants. Under the combination of 0.6 % AeO9, 0.06 % Sicare2235 surfactants and chloride additives, the increase in surface tension will weaken the physical explosion suppression effect and lead to the phenomenon of explosion enhancement. The results of chemical kinetics simulations indicate that, in comparison to a single explosion suppressant, the chlorine-containing compound N2 twin-fluid water mist effectively lowers the adiabatic flame temperature and the concentration of key free radicals H, OH and O. The reaction CH3 + H + M = CH3OH + M plays a pivotal role in reducing the adiabatic flame temperature during LPG explosion.

Experimental and Theoretical Study on the Influence of Fatty Alcohol Polyoxyethylene Ether on the Surface Roughness of Silicon in Alkaline Solutions

In the final polishing process of silicon, it is susceptible to alkaline anisotropic chemical etch and may have residual silicon sol on the surface, leading to an increase in surface roughness of the wafer. To address this issue, this study investigates the mechanisms of how fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether AEO-9 and O-20 affect the surface roughness of silicon through systematic experimental measurements and theoretical calculations. The research results demonstrate that both AEO-9 and O-20 exhibit strong molecular activity and can adsorb on the silicon surface in a parallel manner, forming a protective film that effectively shields against corrosive particle erosion. Additionally, AEO-9 and O-20 can enhance the wetting of etching solutions on the silicon surface, resulting in more uniform chemical etch and reduced formation of etching pits. Furthermore, AEO-9 and O-20 can reduce the residual silicon sol on the silicon surface, thereby decreasing surface roughness. These findings shed new light on how AEO-9 and O-20 affect surface roughness on silicon, and suggest their potential use in the final polishing of silicon wafers.

Improving the performance of polyacrylate latex binders for water-based inks through the application of reactive emulsifiers and nanosized zinc oxide

The poor redissolution and low ethanol resistance stability of room temperature self-cross-linking polyacrylate latexes (RTSPLs) made from conventional emulsifiers are the main obstacles for their industrial application in water-based inks. To address these issues, in this study, anionic SR-10 (allyloxy polyoxyethylene ammonium sulfate) /nonionic ER-10 (allyloxy fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether) dual-reactive composite emulsifier is developed to replace the conventional 2A1 (sodium dodecyl diphenyl ether disulfonate) /TX-30 (alkyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether) non-reactive composite emulsifier for the synthesis of polyacrylate latexes, and a certain mass of nanosized zinc oxide (ZnO) was added into as-prepared latexes as an ionic cross-linking agent to partially replace the cross-linking monomer of diacetone acrylamide (DAAM). Properties of the latexes and the latex films, with emphasis on redissolution, stability against ethanol, and adhesion on biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) and polyethylene (PE) substrates, were evaluated to study the effect of the reactive emulsifiers and the nanosized ZnO. The application of the reactive composite emulsifier eliminates the disadvantages associated with the desorption from the latex particles and migration during film formation of the non-reactive emulsifier, thus improving the ethanol resistance stability of latexes and adhesion of their inks on BOPP substrate. The introduction of a certain amount of nanosized ZnO to replace DAAM in equimass amounts improves the redissolution but reduces the cross-linking density and water resistance of the latex film. Surprisingly, the addition of nanosized ZnO substantially improves the ethanol stability of latexes. When ZnO replaces DAAM, accounting for approximately 1 wt% of the total monomers, not only the prepared latex exhibits excellent alcohol dilution stability, but also the latex film has a relatively high cross-linking density, good redissolution, and good comprehensive properties. These findings provide an effective, yet simple way to balance the redissolution and high cross-linking degree of latex films while ensuring that the latexes have good ethanol resistance stability.

Effect of AES anionic surfactant on the microstructure and wettability of coal

The paper object is high-quality Shenmu bituminous coal modified by fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sodium sulfate (AES) surfactant. The changes in functional groups, free radicals, Zeta potential, and contact angle of coal modified in AES anionic surfactant were analyzed. Based on the molecular structure of Shenmu coal, a coal-AES-water three-phase dynamic model was constructed. The wetting mechanism of coal was studied by molecular dynamics. The research has demonstrated that as the mass fraction of AES surfactant increases, the proportion of polar groups (-OH, C–O–C, –COOH, –CO), free radical content and Zeta potential increased significantly. The size of contact angle displayed a major negative linear correlation with the proportion of polar groups and free radicals, but positively linearly correlated with the Zeta potential. In the coal-AES-water three-phase dynamic model, the AES molecules adhere to coal molecules as hydrophobic group, while hydrophilic groups extended into the water. This increased H2O diffusion coefficient, enhanced action energy between coal and water interface, decreasing surface tension and achieving effective wetting of the coal. This paper supplies s a new idea for selecting efficient surfactants to change the coal microstructure. It is of major importance for improving coal wettability and offers a theoretical foundation for gas drainage and disaster prevention.

Sodium fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether carboxylate/cationic surfactant binary system for high‐salt oil reservoir

AbstractHigh salinity has been a major challenge in oil recovery. Here, two binary systems composed of sodium fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether carboxylate (AECM) and cationic surfactants, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and cetylpyridinium chloride (CPyCl) were developed. Their fundamental properties; namely, oil/water interfacial tension, wettability, emulsification, adsorption, and oil‐washing were investigated and compared. The results showed that both AECM–CTAB (4:6–7:3, m/m) and AECM–CPyCl (5:5–6:4, m/m) could decrease oil/water interfacial tension below 10−2 mN/m. Even the total salinity was close to 200,000 mg/L after 7 days of quartz sand adsorption, showing a good interfacial activity and excellent anti‐adsorption properties. All these compound drives could effectively change the wettability of the glass surface, which reduced the contact angle to a minimum of 54.76°. In addition, the emulsification time could reach up to 24 h at 85°C, with excellent emulsification performance at high temperatures. The oil washing efficiency could reach 74.68% after 48 h. According to our comprehensive analysis, the best formulation was obtained at AECM/CTAB ratio of 5:5.

Synergistic Effect of Complexing Agent TAD and Corrosion Inhibitor PZ on BTA Removal in Copper Post-CMP Cleaning

Benzotriazole (BTA) as a common corrosion inhibitor in the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process, can effectively protect the copper (Cu) surface, but its organic residues will form a passivation film on the wafer surface to prevent the contact between the cleaning solution and the wafer surface, so the removal of BTA is a major problem in the post-CMP cleaning. In this paper, N,N’-Bis(3-aminopropyl)−1,2-ethanediamine (TAD) and pyrazole (PZ) were used as the main components in the alkaline cleaning solution and fatty alcohol polyoxy ethylene ether (JFCE) was added as an auxiliary surfactant to investigate the removal of BTA. The complexation ability of TAD and the corrosion inhibition ability of PZ were verified by electrochemical experiments, and the reaction sites of the interaction between TAD and Cu surface were analyzed by quantum chemical calculations. Meanwhile, the mechanism of the synergistic removal of BTA by TAD and PZ was investigated by electrochemical methods. The final optimized cleaning solution consisted of 1 mmol L−1 TAD, 0.1 mmol L−1 PZ and 1 wt% JFCE and its good cleaning performance was verified by contact angle measurements, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), which provided guidance for the development of the cleaning solution.

Experimental study on improving salt resistance of dust suppressing foam with polymers

Mine dust is a prevalent pollutant generated during the mining process, often leading to explosion accidents and causing pneumoconiosis. Foam dust suppression technology has emerged as a promising method for efficient dust control due to its high-efficiency dust collection and ease of use. However, the application of foam in the field has revealed higher concentrations of inorganic salts in the mine dust suppressants, resulting in suboptimal foaming performance. As a result, additional foaming agent and increased concentration are often required to achieve the desired effect, which escalates the cost of mine dust control. To address this issue, this study proposes optimizing the performance of mine dust suppression foam through the incorporation of polymers with excellent salt resistance. In this investigation, foam liquids comprising xanthan gum (XG) and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) were tested using FoamScan to evaluate their foaming performance and foam stabilization at various concentrations of inorganic salt. Additionally, the rheological properties of the foam liquids were analyzed by measuring the viscoelastic modulus using an interfacial rheometer. Experimental results demonstrated that the addition of XG and CMC did not compromise the foaming ability of sodium fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sulfate (AES). Moreover, the liquid-carrying capacity of bubbles, in terms of foam stability, was enhanced. Specifically, the foam stabilization remained relatively stable when the XG concentration exceeded 0.5‰, even under different salt concentrations. Interfacial rheological tests revealed that the addition of XG substantially increased the viscoelastic modulus of the foam liquid. Furthermore, the phase angle remained below 45°, indicating the dominant role of the elastic modulus in the foam liquid, resulting in improved bubble resistance to interference and deformation. This experimental study successfully resolved the issue of poor stability in mine dust suppression foam caused by high salt content during the foam preparation process. The findings can significantly contribute to the widespread adoption and application of dust suppression foam technology in mining operations.

Chemical mechanical polishing for potassium dihydrogen phosphate using four kinds of green developed slurries

Due to the soft-brittle, deliquescent, and temperature-sensitive nature, potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) has become one of the most difficult-to-process materials. Nonetheless, high-performance devices strictly require the surface roughness of KDP less than 1 nm, which is a great challenge for the ultraprecision machining field. To overcome this challenge, four kinds of green slurries were developed. For instance, ceria and graphene oxide were selected as abrasives, sodium carboxymethylcellulose was used as thickener, fatty alcohol-polyoxyethylene ether was employed as emulgator, sodium carbonate was proposed as a pH regulator, and tiny water was applied to dissolving agent. Four kinds of various base solutions, such as corn oil, glycol, polyethylene glycol and glycerol, form four varieties of green slurries for the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) of KDP. After CMP, the surface roughness Sa is 0.562 nm with a scanning area of 50 × 50 μm2, using the glycol slurry. Until now, to the best of our knowledge, this is the lowest surface roughness at a such large measurement area. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and infrared Fourier transformation confirm that CP bonds were generated between graphene oxide and KDP, resulting in the breaking away of H2PO4− from KDP. A soft layer was produced by the tiny water. CO32− reacts with H2PO4−, forming CO2 gas and protecting the concave area on the surface of KDP. The soft layer was removed by the synergistic effect among abrasives, thickener and a polishing pad. The developed green slurries suggest new insights to achieve sub-nanometer surfaces on KDP with uniquely physical nature, for the potential use in laser systems.

Effects and mechanisms of different types of surfactants on sapphire ultrasonic polishing

The effects of three different types of surfactants, including cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS), and nonionic surfactant fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether (AEO), on sapphire ultrasonic polishing (UV-CMP) were studied. Through XPS, SEM, surface tension, zeta potential and particle size analysis, the implications of surfactants on the chemical products, abrasive adsorption, and material removal rate (MRR) of sapphire surface were investigated. The findings indicate that AEO and SDBS result in a certain degree of abrasive agglomeration and slight particle size increase due to hydrogen bonding and electrostatic repulsion respectively. The cationic surfactant CTAB exhibits significant agglomeration of abrasive particles due to electrostatic attraction, and causes the increase in particle size. The slurry’s surface tension is directly proportional to sapphire MRR within a certain range. The polishing effects are the best when 0.10% CTAB is added. Sapphire MRR is 80.50 nm/min, which is nearly twice as much as that of the slurry without surfactants. The surface roughness is 0.200 nm after polishing.

Study of wetting and adsorption mechanism of mixed anionic-nonionic nonhomologous surfactants on coal dust based on intermolecular interactions

The research found that mixed anionic-nonionic surfactants have synergistic wetting performance which can be added to the spray solution to greatly enhance the wettability to coal dust. In this study, based on the experiment data and some synergism parameters, and a 1:5 ratio of fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sulphate (AES)–lauryl glucoside (APG) has the best synergism, resulting in a highly wettable dust suppressant. Additionally, the wetting processes of different dust suppressant on coal were comparatively simulated by molecular dynamics. Then, the electrostatic potential on the molecular surface was computed. Following this, the mechanism of surfactant molecule regulation of coal hydrophilicity and the advantage of the interspersed arrangement of AES–APG molecules in the mixed solution were proposed. Also, based on the computation of highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels and binding energy calculations, a synergistic mechanism of the anionic-nonionic surfactant is proposed from the perspective of enhanced hydrogen bonding between the hydrophilic part of the surfactant and the water molecule. Overall, these results present a theoretical basis and development strategy for the preparation of highly wettable mixed anionic and nonionic dust suppressants for different coal types.

Synergistic effect of binary mixture of anionic nonionic surfactant on inhibiting coal dust pollution: Experiment and simulation

Coal dust is a pollutant particle generated during the process of coal development and utilization. It can cause damage to the surrounding environment and human health. In this paper, experimental and molecular dynamics simulations were used to select four surfactants: fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sodium sulfate (AES), sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS), lauryl glucoside (APG-12), and fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether (AEO-9). The wettability and adsorption ability of a single surfactant and a combination of surfactants were studied at the macro and micro levels, Laying a foundation for the preparation of binary surfactants. The results show that the anionic nonionic binary composite aqueous solution of 0.07% SDBS and 0.05% AEO-9 can greatly increase the content of hydrophilic functional groups in coal molecules, and its hydrophobic groups can be firmly adsorbed on the pore size of coal dust, effectively solving the problem of poor hydrophilicity and difficult wetting of coal dust. In addition, on the basis of quantitative characterization of micromolecules and macro wetting test, research on foam characteristics has been added to further improve dust suppression efficiency and effectively control air pollution caused by coal mining and use.

Study on the surface interaction mechanism, corrosion inhibition effect and the synergistic action of potassium oleate and fatty alcohol polyoxy ethylene ether on copper film chemical mechanical polishing for giant large scale integrated circuit

As the feature size of integrated circuit drops down to 20–14 nm, cobalt (Co) is used as the barrier layer material for multilayer copper (Cu) wiring. The chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process of Cu film has developed from a combined rough polishing and fine polishing to a one-step polishing, which needs to stop on the Co barrier layer. So the removal rate (RR) of Co should approach zero to meet the requirement of higher RR selection ratio of Cu and Co. Inhibitors in the Cu film slurry play an important role for controlling the RR during CMP process. In this paper, the anionic surfactant potassium oleate (PO) was selected as a key corrosion inhibitor in Cu film CMP to enhance the RR selection ratio of Cu and Co. The complexation and corrosion inhibition mechanisms between PO and Cu or Co were revealed by electrochemical measurements, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy measurements. It was found that the rapid complexation of a small amount of PO with Co2+ could increase the Co RR. However, with a higher concentration of PO, the effective catalysis caused the conversion of cobaltous hydroxide to tricobalt tetraoxide, and thus resulted in a lower Co RR. With the addition of the nonionic surfactant called fatty alcohol polyoxy ethylene ether (JFCE), the morphology of the PO aggregates changes to spherical, which weakened the inhibiting effect of PO on Cu RR, and thus a higher Cu RR and RR selection ratio of Cu and Co was achieved. The synergistic action mechanism of PO and JFCE on Cu and Co surfaces was analyzed systematically. The present work provides an idea that surfactants are excellent candidates for metal inhibitors.

Preliminary study of improving immune tolerance in vivo of bioprosthetic heart valves through a novel antigenic removal method.

The durability of bioprosthetic heart valves is always compromised by the inherent antigenicity of biomaterials. Decellularization has been a promising approach to reducing the immunogenicity of biological valves. However, current methods are insufficient in eliminating all immunogenicity from the biomaterials, necessitating the exploration of novel techniques. In this study, we investigated using a novel detergent, fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sodium sulfate (AES), to remove antigens from bovine pericardium. Our results demonstrated that AES treatment achieved a higher pericardial antigen removal rate than traditional detergent treatments while preserving the mechanical properties and biocompatibility of the biomaterials. Moreover, we observed excellent immune tolerance in the in vivo rat model. Overall, our findings suggest that AES treatment is a promising method for preparing biological valves with ideal clinical application prospects.
