This study aims to determine the motivation of farmers in developing cashew farming in Benjala Village, Bontobahari District, Bulukumba Regency. The population of cashew farmers in Benjala Village, Bontobahari District, Bulukumba Regency is 58 cashew farmers. From this population, 15 cashew farmers were taken as a sample by means of deliberate sampling (simple purposive sampling). Based on research on farmer motivation in the Benjala Village area, it can be concluded that farmer motivation based on motivation theory can be concluded that it is not fulfilled properly. Based on the table from the research results in Benjala Sub-District, it shows that security needs get the highest score, namely 2.66 physical needs with a value of 2.30, appreciation needs with a value of 2.03, social needs with a value of 1.80, self-potential development needs get the lowest score, namely 1.36. This is due to many factors, starting from unstable prices, the long fertilization process, and the absence of government attention to cashew commodities and the absence of innovations or techniques that can be obtained by farmers, making farmers prefer to focus on corn and peanut commodities

Farmers' Motivation in Farming Horticultural Crops (Case Study: Indigenous Papuan Farmers in Aipiri Village, East Manokwari District)

This research was conducted in Aipiri Village, East Manokwari District, with the aim of examining the motivations of indigenous farmers (OAP) in horticultural farming in Aipiri Village, East Manokwari District. The research employed survey and case study methods. The sampling method used in this research was simple random sampling. The population of this study consisted of indigenous farmers (OAP) engaged in horticultural farming in Aipiri Village, East Manokwari District. The results of this study indicate that farmers have a high motivation for existence needs, with 70.6% of farmers motivated to meet their children's educational expenses and 72.5% motivated to fulfill supporting educational needs for their children. For relatedness needs, 60.8% of farmers were motivated to gain new experiences from other farmers, and 70.6% were motivated to provide experiences to other farmers. For growth needs, 62.7% of farmers were motivated to use modern equipment, and 82.4% were motivated to implement the internet.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING SUBSIDIES FOR CERTIFIED SEED MATERIAL USED FOR SOWING OR PLANTING

The work aims to assess the effectiveness of the subsidy system for purchasing certified seed material. The assessment was made based on data from the Statistics Poland on the sown area, data from the State Plant Protection Inspectorate on seed trade, and data from the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture on the amount of support provided to farmers, the analyzed changes in the amount of subsidies and the supply of certified seeds. Analyzing the motivation of farmers buying seeds was based on surveys conducted on farms in 2023 – the research concerned species covered by the subsidy system for cereals, potatoes, and large-seeded legumes. In total, the results were collected from 1,008 farms. A stimulating effect of subsidies in the initial period of their application and an improvement in the supply of certified seed material to farms was demonstrated. Maintaining the subsidies unchanged, and later, even at a nominally lower level, resulted in the disappearance of their stimulating effect. The main factors limiting farmers’ motivation to purchase certified seed material were indicated: the high prices of seed material, a lack of knowledge about the benefits of using certified seed material, low subsidy amounts, the exhaustion of the de minimis limit, and thus the possibility of using subsidies as well as an overly complicated subsidy system.

Rationality of soybean farmers: the findings from rainfed field agroecosystems

Purpose. This research aims to examine the factors that influence the rationality and income of soybean farmers, especially in rain fed field agroecosystems. Methodology / approach. The research was designed quantitatively with a type of survey on 263 soybean farmers from a total population of 768 farmers spread across Jatiwaras and Pancatengah subdistricts, Tasikmalaya Regency, which is one of the centres for soybean development in West Java, Indonesia. The determination of the farmer sample was carried out proportionally randomly using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 5 %. The data analysed is primary data obtained directly from farmers using a questionnaire with a Likert scale consisting of 5 answer choices. The analytical tool used is Structural Equation Model (SEM) with AMOS to determine the influence between variables. Results. The research results show that: (1) Farmer characteristics have a significant positive relationship with farmer motivation. These characteristics are a strong driving force to increase their motivation in soybean farming to be even better in an effort to increase their income; (2) Farmer characteristics have a significant positive effect on farmer rationality. The older the age, the higher the education, and the greater the burden of responsibility borne by the farmers’ family, the more rational they consider soybean cultivation to be, which means that they will be more cautious in growing soybeans to minimise the risk of losses they may incur; (3) Farmer motivation has a significant positive effect on farmer rationality. The stronger farmers’ motivation in soybeans farming, the more rational it makes them in thinking about farming as well as possible; (4) Farmer rationality has a significant positive effect on income. The more rational the thinking of farmers in soybean farming, in the sense that they can effectively use social networks, efficiently grow soybeans and adopt technology, the more they can increase production, which ultimately increases income. Originality / scientific novelty. This study focuses more on the rationality of smallholder farmers in Indonesia, who have many structural disadvantages, such as limited land ownership, average age of farmers, low education level and many family responsibilities, which are constraints to soybean farming; how smallholder farmers are related to motivation in soybean farming and whether this farmers’ rationality can increase their income, while several previous studies only discussed farmers’ rationality without considering socioeconomic factors, especially smallholder farmers. Practical value / implications. This research provides evidence that there is a relationship between farmer characteristics and motivation which has a significant effect on farmer rationality so that in the end it can increase income. The results of this research have implications for government policies in efforts to increase farmers’ income by increasing their capacity through intensive and sustainable agricultural extension activities. The existence of more intensive and sustainable agricultural extension activities can increase the knowledge and insight of small farmers in soybean farming, which in turn can motivate farmers to think and act more rationally so that they can better optimise all the resources they have.

Reduced anthelmintic use on 13 New Zealand sheep farms: farmer motivations and practical implementation

ABSTRACT Aims: To describe the personal drivers, sources of information and gastro-intestinal parasite control methods used by a group of New Zealand sheep farmers identified as low users of anthelmintic (AHC), and their perception of the efficacy and impacts of this approach. Methods: A convenience sample of 13 sheep farmers farming with a policy of reduced AHC use (no pre-determined routine treatments of ewes >19 months old and/or lambs not routinely treated at pre-determined intervals from weaning through to late autumn) were identified. Semi-structured interviews were conducted regarding their farming philosophy, motivations for reducing AHC use, perceptions of the impacts of farming with reduced AHC use, and parasite control practices. Semi-quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics for demographic data and categorising participants’ use of AHC and non-chemical control methods. Qualitative data regarding participants’ motivations, approaches and rationale were analysed by systematic analysis of the transcripts and distillation of key concepts. Results: Participants had been operating with reduced AHC use for 3 to ≥20 years. Key motivators for reducing AHC use were a diagnosis of anthelmintic resistance (AR) or concerns about AR developing. Parasite management information came from a wide range of sources. All respondents expressed overall positive views regarding the impacts of reduced AHC use but detailed information was not available. All identified that regular monitoring, based primarily on subjective animal and non-animal factors was important for their parasite control strategy. Most used faecal egg counts (FEC), often in an ad hoc manner. Five never treated adult ewes, two routinely treated ewes prior to lambing with short-acting AHC and the remainder occasionally treated a small number in low body condition. Four routinely treated some or all lambs at 28–30-day intervals from weaning to late autumn while the remainder based their treatment decisions for lambs on monitored information. All placed heavy emphasis on feeding sheep well, ensuring high post-grazing residuals, and cross-grazing. Conclusions: AR was a key motivator for participants to reduce AHC use, and a range of information sources and decision-making processes were used. Key parasite management practices were monitoring, primarily using subjective assessments, emphasis on feeding stock well and cross-grazing. Clinical relevance: The rising prevalence of AR will likely result in increasing the motivation for sheep farmers to reduce their AHC use. Veterinarians will play a key role in providing advice and assistance to facilitate changes in parasite management.

Influencing factors and countermeasures of training willingness of high-quality farmers in Jiangxi, China

This paper studies the factors influencing the training willingness of high-quality farmers, which is of great significance to improve the training efficiency. Through face-to-face interviews with 18 farmer trainees and online surveys of 514 farmer trainees, It was found that training content, training service and farmers' perception of training policy had significant impact on training willingness. However, demographic factors such as gender, age, education level, Agricultural post and previous farm income had insignificance on training intention. On this basis, countermeasures and suggestions were put forward from three aspects to improve the training willingness of high-quality farmers. Through pre-training demand survey, precise training content was proposed. Optimizing the training service and improving the satisfaction of training service, and improving policies and systems to protect the interests of farmers participating in training can be meaningful to enhance the internal motivation of farmers to actively participate in education and training.

Impact of the degree of agricultural green production technology adoption on income: evidence from Sichuan citrus growers

Enhancing farmers’ adoption of agricultural green production technology (AGPT) is crucial for the green transformation of the agricultural sector. Obtaining additional income is the primary motivation for farmers to adopt AGPTs. Therefore, clarifying the relationship between AGPTs’ adoption degree and income will facilitate the possibility of farmers’ adoption of AGPTs. Based on research data obtained from 805 citrus farmers in Sichuan Province, this study examines the impact of the degree of AGPT adoption on farmers’ income and its mechanisms using the inverse probability weighted regression adjustment (IPWRA) model. These findings indicate: (1) The greater the degree of adoption of AGPTs by farmers, the more pronounced the impact on income increase. Using 1, 2, and 3 AGTs can increase farmers’ income from citrus sales by 7.1, 10.5, and 19.8 percentage points, respectively. (2) The adoption of AGPTs leads to increased income through higher yields and sales prices, which offset the incurred costs. (3) Market channels and farmers’ operating scales can affect the revenue effect of AGPT adoption. (4) Factors (i.e., education level, physical health status, and cultivation area) can affect farmers’ adoption of AGPTs. This study presents policy recommendations based on the above conclusions, aiming to guide the government in promoting AGPTs and advancing agricultural green transformation.

Does the livelihood capital of rural households in national parks affect intentions to participate in conservation? A model based on an expanded theory of planned behavior

The purpose of this research was to examine the motivations of rural farmers to participate in community conservation within national parks. An expanded version of the Theory of Planned Behavior was used to explore the impacts of economic and psychological factors on farmer willingness to engage in conservation efforts. In using the livelihood capital concept along with the TPB theory, structural equation modeling was applied to analyze survey data from rural residents within Nanling National Park, Guangdong, China. The attitudes of farmers about the development of the national park and subjective norms significantly affected willingness to participate in community conservation, and the willingness was directly influenced by financial, social, and institutional dimensions of livelihood capital. For certain dimensions of livelihood capital, attitudes and subjective norms mediated willingness to engage in conservation efforts, the affecting path being livelihood capital → subjective norms → attitudes → willingness to participate in community conservation. Perceived behavioral control had a positive moderating effect between attitudes and willingness. The findings help to explain the factors driving rural farmer willingness to engage in community conservation. Socio-psychological factors and institutional capital were particularly instrumental in affecting willingness. Overall, this research reveals how different types of livelihood capital influence community conservation among farmers and the importance of community conservation as a livelihood strategy option, as well as the psychological and economic factors of farmers in a changing institutional environment. Based on the findings, corresponding policy recommendations are presented to improve the effectiveness of community conservation policy, and also provide China's experience and reference for other developing countries to formulate targeted community conservation policies.

The Influence of Breeder Entrepreneurial Ability, Farmer Motivation and Partnership System on the Growth of Broiler Business in Barru Regency

Developing a broiler farming business using a partnership system is an alternative to help farmers in running their business. Some of the risks faced by breeders are the increasing prices of animal feed and broiler chicken seeds (DOC) as well as market access so that breeders are motivated to carry out business collaborations through a partnership system. The development of a broiler chicken farming business cannot be separated from the entrepreneurial behavior of farmers. One of the entrepreneurial behaviors that farmers must have is the entrepreneurial competence needed to run a livestock business. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of entrepreneurial ability, farmer motivation, and the partnership system on the growth of broiler farming businesses in Barru Regency. This research was conducted in Barru Regency, South Sulawesi Province using a survey approach and using a questionnaire. The type of research used is explanatory research. The results of the research show that entrepreneurial ability, farmer motivation and the broiler partnership system have a real influence on the growth of broiler farming businesses both jointly and individually and motivational variables dominate breeders in determining the growth of broiler breeder businesses in Barru Regency. The partnership is intended for farmers to provide convenience in running their livestock business, thereby increasing motivation to develop their business.

Selection of Suitable Organic Amendments to Balance Agricultural Economic Benefits and Carbon Sequestration.

Long-term excessive use of fertilizers and intensive cultivation not only decreases soil organic carbon (SOC) and productivity, but also increases greenhouse gas emissions, which is detrimental to sustainable agricultural development. The purpose of this paper is to identify organic amendments suitable for winter wheat growth in the North China Plain by studying the effects of organic amendments on the economic benefits, carbon emissions, and carbon sequestration for winter wheat fields and to provide a theoretical basis for the wide application of organic amendments in agricultural fields. The two nitrogen rates were N0 (0 kg ha-1) and N240 (240 kg ha-1), and the four organic amendments were straw, manure, mushroom residue (M R), and biochar. The results showed that, compared to N0, N240 significantly increased the yield by 244.1-318.4% and the organic carbon storage by 16.7-30.5%, respectively, but increased the carbon emissions by 29.3-45.5%. In addition, soil carbon stocks increased with all three types of organic amendments compared to the straw amendment, with the biochar treatment being the largest, increasing carbon storage by 13.3-33.6%. In terms of yield and economic benefits, compared to the straw amendment, the manure and biochar amendments increased winter wheat yields by 0.0-1.5% and 4.0-13.3%, respectively, and M R slightly decreased wheat yield; only the economic benefit of the M R amendment was greater than that of the straw amendment, with an increase in economic benefit of 1.3% and 8.2% in the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons, respectively. Furthermore, according to the net ecosystem productivity (NEP), N0 was the source of CO2, while N240 was a sink of CO2. The TOPSIS results showed that N240 with a mushroom residue amendment could be recommended for increasing soil carbon stocks and economic benefits for winter wheat in the NCP and similar regions. Low-cost M R can increase farmer motivation and improve soil organic carbon, making a big step forward in the spread of organic materials on farmland.

Motivasi dan Kinerja Peternak Kaitannya dengan Keberlanjutan Usaha Sapi Perah

This study aims to analyze the motivation and performance of dairy farmers and their relationship with the sustainability of the dairy farming business. The research was conducted at Putra Saluyu 1, which included a multi-purpose cooperative Tandangsari with a survey method. The sample used in this study consisted of 60 farmers selected through Simple Random Sampling. The study results showed that the motivation was classified as high (65.0%), and the performance was classified as high (70.0%). There was a significant correlation between motivation and business sustainability with a Spearman's rank correlation coefficient value (rS = 0.464). Moreover, a significant correlation exists between performance and business sustainability with Spearman's rank correlation coefficient value (rS = 0.462).

The Role of Motivation and Work Environment to Promote Productivity of Chili Farmers in Magelang

This paper examines the impact of motivation and the work environment in supporting the productivity of chili farmers in Magelang. We use managerial work motivation theory to identify farmer motivation and use the work environment as a measuring tool to determine the environmental conditions around agricultural land. The quantitative model is estimated to show that motivation and work environment can significantly boost farmer productivity. The sample in this study was 64 respondents, regression analysis was used in this study using SPSS 22. Farmers with high motivation will increase the productivity of their crops, although this is not significant. Finally, farmers with a good working environment will increase farmer productivity significantly.

Motivation toward Rice Farming in Margokaton Village, Sleman District, Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia

Lately, younger people have not involved themselves in farming activities, nor have they continued their parents’ jobs as farmers. Nevertheless, agriculture continues to play a pivotal role in Indonesian food production. Some studies reveal that fewer young people have been engaging in farming because aging farmers are unwilling to bequeath farms to younger farmers for educational, financial, and motivational reasons. Thus, this study sought to describe and analyze the motivating factors why farmers continue farming in Margokaton village, Sleman district, Yogyakarta province. The study gathered primary information from 82 farmers using a structured questionnaire. It used Alderfer’s existence-relatedness-growth (ERG) theory to assess farmer motivations. It found that, overall, rice farmers’ motivation, as seen from the motivation of ERG needs, was “moderate.” Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient analysis shows farmers’ motivation correlating with their education, side jobs, perception of farming as an occupation, farmland areas, productivity of paddy fields, household income from crops farming, farming experience, maintenance of the farmland, having daughters only, and parental encouragement toward farming. Understanding the factors that correlate with farmers’ motivation to continue farming can help assess the future of rice farming.

Motivation In Choosing Coffee Picking Methods

Purpose: This study aims to understand the motivations of coffee farmers, specifically those practicing the "petik pelangi" method, in Bukit Sari Village, Kabawetan District, Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu Province. Methodology: The research employed a Likert scale method, sampling 35 respondents. Factors such as age, education level, and experience were analyzed to determine their impact on farmers' motivations. Results: The study found that internal factors such as age (34-59 years), education level (mostly higher education), and experience significantly influence farmers' motivation. Additionally, land ownership size and family dependents also affect motivation. Findings: Internal factors had a slightly higher average motivation score (17.6) compared to external factors (17.46). The price difference between "petik merah" and "petik pelangi" coffee reflects complex market dynamics. Despite the higher price of "petik merah" coffee, many farmers and the community prefer the "petik pelangi" method due to the motivation to harvest coffee when it is still colorful. Novelty: This research provides new insights into the motivations behind the "petik pelangi" coffee harvesting method, highlighting the factors that influence farmers' choices. Originality: The study offers an in-depth understanding of the internal and external factors affecting coffee farmers' motivations, with a focus on a unique harvesting method that is less commonly studied. Conclusions: Internal factors such as age, education level, and experience are significant motivators for coffee farmers practicing the "petik pelangi" method. Despite the higher market value of "petik merah" coffee, the colorful harvest method remains popular due to intrinsic motivations. Potential of Agroforestry Practices in Multifunctional Landscapes for Enhancing the Livelihoods of Local Dwellers in the North-Western Charlands of Bangladesh

Char is any accretion in a river course that extends or establishes new land. A well-planned integrated land-use system combining woody perennials (agroforestry) can ensure sustainable, environmentally friendly climate resilience land-use systems and livelihood options on charland. To date, no systemic investigation of charland land agroforestry has been undertaken. A comprehensive study of the potential of agroforestry systems in charland areas was conducted using qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Two methods were employed: structured questionnaire interviews and botanical surveys. Findings revealed that considerable variation exists in both charland and mainland areas in terms of socio-demographic characteristics. Both tree and agroforestry knowledge of mainland farmers is greater than that of charland farmers. Charland dwellers sell almost all their farm products, while most mainland farmers consume their products. Agroforestry-related communication between extension workers and farmers is limited in both ecosystems. However, farmer interaction with extension workers is far less common in charland areas. Mainland farmers are satisfied with their homestead production systems, whereas cha land farmers face huge problems with the free grazing of cattle and goats. Mainland farmers think quality planting materials and fencing systems are key issues. Leafy short-rotation vegetables and climbing vegetables are more common in charlands. Other common marketable vegetables are tomato, brinjal, carrot, cauliflower, and cabbage. All fruit trees common on charland are more frequently found in the mainland areas. In the case of timber, eucalyptus (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) is more common on charland, whereas mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) frequency is higher in the mainland. Medicinal trees are uncommon in both ecosystems except for neem (Azadirachta indica). Through proper training and motivation of farmers, there is a vast scope to increase tree and vegetable diversity in charland farms.

Perceived Benefit, Policy Incentive and Farmers’ Organic Fertilizer Application in Protected Areas

The green production behaviors of farmers in protected areas (PAs) can reduce environmental disturbances and contribute to the effectiveness of PAs. Based on a survey of 708 farmers in Wuyishan National Park (WNP) and Crested Ibis Nature Reserve (CINR), we studied the influence of perceived benefit and policy incentive on farmers’ organic fertilizer application. Results: (1) Perceived benefit, subsidies policy, and propaganda policy significantly promoted farmers’ organic fertilizer application, with perceived benefit having the strongest effect, followed by subsidies policy. The influence of restriction policy was not significant. (2) Perceived benefit, subsidies policy, and propaganda policy indirectly influenced organic fertilizer application through ecological awareness. (3) In WNP, perceived benefit had the strongest effect on organic fertilizer application, and subsidies policy significantly enhanced farmers’ ecological awareness and influenced their behaviors. In contrast, subsidies policy had the strongest effect on organic fertilizer application, but did not significantly enhance farmers’ ecological awareness in CINR. These results offer valuable insights for promoting green production behaviors of farmers in PAs. This study implies that there must be a pathway for the realization of ecological value in ecological protection. Ecological value realization is the endogenous motivation for farmers’ sustainable green production behaviors. However, government subsidies and guidance are also essential in the early stage.

Assessment of Safe Vegetable Cultivation at Jashore in Bangladesh: Evidence from Country Bean, Cucumber and Pointed Gourd Cultivation

The study was designed to assess the present status and methods of safe vegetable production at farm level in selected areas of Jashore during January-May, 2023. For the study ninety sample farmer were selected by stratified sampling from three sub-district of Jashore. Average farm size was 0.79 ha in study area. Farmer doing different agronomic management such as weeding, irrigation, spraying, de-topping, stalking, earthing up etc. Farmer used different methods simultaneously such as insecticide spray, bio-pesticide, sex pheromone, yellow trap, white trap, hand picking etc. for controlling insect pest. About sixty-four percent farmer sprayed synthetic pesticide and rest of them used bio control method such as bio-pesticide (bio-chamak, eco-mac, bio-envir, bio-cin), sex pheromone trap, yellow trap and hand picking for control insect pest in their fields. About fifty-eight percent farmer used bio-fertilizer along with organic fertilizer (manure, vermin compost) and seventy-eight percent farmer used chemical fertilizer for vegetable cultivation. Total production cost of country bean was Tk.3,36,579 ha-1, cucumber was Tk.3,25,915 ha-1 and pointed gourd was Tk.4,40,106 ha-1. Among the cost item labor cost was highest. Average yield of country bean was 30.60 tha-1, cucumber was 30.08 tha-1 and pointed gourd was 41.60 tha-1. Highest benefit cost ratio was cucumber (2.13) followed by pointed gourd (2.07) and country bean (1.50), that means safe vegetable cultivation also profitable. Farmer awareness, havoc attack of pest and insect were the main problem for safe vegetable cultivation. Market facilities, demand, value chain, proper price for organic vegetable, and farmer motivation can promote and enhance safe vegetable cultivation.

Energy, environmental, and economic benefits of integrated paddy field farming

Rice yields have stabilized in the Chengdu Plain, and the implementation of integrated paddy field farming has shown potential for enhancing resource utilization. However, further investigation is required to clarify its impact on production sustainability. Accordingly, this study compared grain yields, energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, and economic benefits of single cropping rice (SCR), rice-duck symbiosis (RDS), and rice-fish symbiosis (RFS) over a three-year period (2018–2020). The grain yields were 16.24%–23.96 % higher in SCR than in RDS and RFS, but nitrogen fertilizer use was reduced by 31.93%–32.15 % in RDS and RFS, and the partial factor productivity of nitrogen was increased by 21.96–23.82 %. RDS and RFS required 1.87–2.00 times more energy than SCR and were only 55.36%–57.80 % as efficient as SCR. They also had higher CO2 (36.10%–42.20 %) and CH4 (8.01%–28.88 %) emissions but lower N2O (0.02%–21.18 %) emissions than SCR. Economically, RDS and RFS produced 1.30–1.48 times higher net benefits with 1.44–1.47 times higher costs than SCR. The benefit-cost ratio of RFS was comparable to SCR and 11.38%–11.87 % higher than RDS. In summary, RDS and RFS consume more energy (feed accounts for more than half) but provide higher yields and better-quality proteins, which are crucial to improving farmer motivation and ensuring protein availability.

The Second-Round Effects of the Agriculture Value Chain on Farmers’ Land Transfer-In: Evidence from the 2019 Land Economy Survey Data of Eleven Provinces in China

In the context of the separation of three rights of land and agricultural modernization, this paper is based on the land economic survey data from eleven provinces in China in 2019, covering the eastern, middle, and western regions of China. Based on the value chain theory and its “second-round effect”, which pertains to the multi-round effects of value chain distribution theory, various research methods such as Probit, Tobit, the two-part model, SFA, PSM, and the intermediary effect model are employed to analyze the direct impact of the agriculture value chain (AVC) on farmers’ land factor inputs and the income effects caused by them, which are the “second-round effect” of the AVC on land factor inputs. The research results show the following: Firstly, the AVC has a significant positive impact on the behavior and area of farmers’ land transferring-in, which helps guide farmers towards large-scale land operation. Secondly, the AVC significantly improves farmers’ production efficiency and promotes land transfer through differences in production efficiency, representing the “second-round effect” mechanism of the AVC on land factor inputs. Moreover, the AVC will increase farmers’ net land production income by 48.74%, which is the “second-round effect” of the AVC on farmers’ agricultural income and also the motivation for farmers’ land factor inputs. Finally, the expansion of land area and the improvement of production efficiency jointly increase farmers’ agricultural income, among which production efficiency plays a partial intermediary effect in increasing agricultural income if farmers join the AVC. This paper believes that we should further promote the market-oriented reform of land factors, support the innovation of the benefit linkage mechanism of the AVC, and promote appropriate areas of land operation by farmers, thereby achieving common prosperity and promoting agricultural modernization in China.
