The Role of Good Governance in the Performance of Village-Owned (Bum Desa) Enterprises

Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa) are a potential vehicle for community empowerment. The business fields of BUM Desa can be in the economic and/or public services sectors which are managed with a spirit of family and mutual cooperation. BUM Desa management requires attention in order to achieve the objectives of establishing BUM Desa. Description of the implementation of governance and performance as a study on BUM Desa Penggung Lestari is carried out through its website. Data and information from the annual report and regulations on the establishment of BUM Desa Penggung Lestari and Government Regulation No. 11 of 2021 are used as the basis for its evaluation. Management of BUM Desa Penggung Lestari with the principles of professionalism, transparency, responsibility, participatory; equal, fair, and legal certainty. Its performance is shown by the total assets increasing by 145%, income increasing by 59%, and 98% of its employees being absorbed from the village community, building stakeholder trust and achieving economic and social goals. The involvement of professional organizations and universities can help BUM Desa managers in implementing the principles of good governance in BUM Desa in accordance with Peraturan Pemerintah Number 11 of 2021concerning Badan Umum Milik Desa and meet the expectations of the Regulation of the Peraturan Menteri Desa, Pembangunan Daerah Tertinggal, dan Transmigrasi Number 3 of 2021.

Sebuah Kajian Perbandingan: Telaah Kehidupan Komunitas Vinsensian dalam Tradisi Balale’ Suku Dayak Kanayatn

This research aims to explore the conceptual and practical aspects of community in the Balale' tradition of the Dayak Kanayatn tribe, with reference to the thought of St. Vincent as reflected in his letters and the principles of the constitution of the Congregation of the Mission (CM). Thus, the purpose of this research is to identify and analyze the concepts of community that exist in the traditional culture of the Dayak Kanayatn tribe, while exploring Vincent's view of community. Then, positive community values are developed that can contribute to the advancement of Indonesian civilization. The research method used is a literature study. The researcher can explore the thoughts and practices of community from both traditional and philosophical perspectives. A thorough analysis of these concepts reveals significant similarities between the Dayak Kanayatn tribal community and the concept of Vincentian community, where both emphasize the importance of solidarity, cooperation, and family spirit in creating Bonum Communae or the common good. In this context, an attempt is made to integrate the concepts of community found in the Balale' tradition with the Vincentian view, with the aim of producing a value framework that can organize and strengthen a just, prosperous, and welfare common life. Through this research, it is hoped to make a meaningful contribution to the discovery and development of positive community values for the Indonesian state, which in turn will support the creation of an advanced and civilized Indonesian society.

Exploring the impact of family and organisational values on competence diversity reluctance in rural family SMEs

PurposeThis paper aims to examine how organisational values affect diversity in terms of different competencies in rural family Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Recruiting a diverse workforce in rural family SMEs can be particularly difficult due to the prevalence of internal family values and the lack of available local specialised competencies. A deficiency of diversity in employment and competence acquisition and development can create problems, as it often prevents rural family SMEs from recruiting employees with a wide variety of qualifications and skills.Design/methodology/approachThe study takes on a multi-case method of Swedish rural family SMEs, applying a qualitative content analysis approach. In total, 20 in-depth structured interviews are conducted with rural family SME owners and 2 industries were investigated and compared – the tourism and the manufacturing industries.FindingsRural family SMEs lack long-term employment strategies, and competence diversity does not appear to be a priority for rural family SMEs, as they often have prematurely decided who they will hire rather than what competencies are needed for their long-term business development. It is more important to keep the team of employees tight and the family spirit present than to include competence diversity and mixed qualifications in the employment acquisition and development.Originality/valueContrary to prior research, our findings indicate that rural family SMEs apply short-term competence diversity strategies rather than long-term prospects regarding competence acquisition and management, due to their family values and rural setting, which strictly narrows the selection of employees and competencies. Also, a general reluctance towards competence diversity is identified, which originates from the very same family values and rural context.

The Catholic Marianist Brothers’ Contribution to Moral and Integral Boys’ Education in Zambia (1966-1991) Part II

The article focuses on the contribution the Marianist Brothers made to moral and integral boys’ education in their education philosophy at Matero Boys Secondary School popularly known as MaBoys. Cox’s theory of phenomenology of religion was used in order to generate empirical data from religious and lived experiences of the Marianist Brothers as well as the narrated stories from both former teachers and pupils of the first twenty-five years at MaBoys, (1966 to 1991). The objective intended to be achieved was to determine aspects of morality that have been integrated with education by Marianist Brothers of MaBoys. The study was purely qualitative and specifically used a follow-up case study design to capture and understand the Marianist applied pedagogical practices in enhancing former pupils’ lives after leaving the school. The findings indicated that the Marianist education was the core of morality. The Marianist education policy: One Education Ministry integrated the pedagogical practices of the five-fold Marianist charism in their education philosophy and formed Christ in souls of young people. The charism included the virtues of educate for formation of faith, provide an integral quality education, Education in Family spirit, educate for service, justice and peace and Education for adaptation and change this can be seen as evidence in that the Marianist imprint remained in the boys’ lives long after school.

Etnography and Multicultural Dynamics Communication of Jakarta Community

Betawi culture has been formed through a long process, but in fact the culture is displaced. One of the things that make Betawi tribe still exist and can be recognized is because of the assimilation process of various tribes in Indonesia. Betawi ethnic is created by the various arts of culture, language, and humans. The simplicity factors of the cultures make Betawi ethnic is accepted in all levels of Indonesian society. Intercultural communication patterns of the language which is used by Betawi people, have cultural backgrounds that affect their daily language. The multi-ethnic populations give a nuance of the heterogeneous city life in Batavia. This study uses a qualitative approach, the results of this research shows that the patterns and the cultures of Betawi produce the structure, the language and Betawi culture which is simple or easy to say and tends to “ceplas ceplos” in articulation words. Beside that it is found the communication culture of Betawi character which is shown from the openness attitude, family spirit, cooperation and respect for other people's cultures.

Moving toward precision in prenatal evidence-based home visiting to achieve good birth outcomes: assessing the alignment of local programs with their national models

BackgroundLow birthweight and preterm birth rates are higher in the United States than in other developed countries and exhibit pronounced racial inequities. Home visiting is a strategy to promote equity in birth outcomes. Research points to precision home visiting as the path to equity. The purpose of this study is to describe local programs’ risk reduction priorities, intended behavioral pathways, and expectations of home visitors; compare these local program features with those of their national model; and assess the strength of implementation systems to support staff in meeting job expectations.MethodsWe surveyed local programs implementing one of four evidence-based home visiting models that aim to promote good birth outcomes: Family Spirit, Healthy Families America, Nurse-Family Partnership, and Parents as Teachers.ResultsRepresentatives from 169 local programs completed the survey. Overall, 59% endorsed all their model’s high priority risks, 16% endorsed all its required behavioral pathways, and 11% endorsed all its required techniques. Local programs went beyond their national model’s explicit intentions. Overall, 91% of local programs prioritized risks beyond those of their model, 85% endorsed behavioral pathways beyond those of their model, 95% endorsed visitors’ use of techniques not explicitly endorsed by their model but compatible with it, and 19% endorsed use of techniques judged incompatible by their model. Implementation system strength was positively associated with local program and model expectations.ConclusionsPrecision home visiting to achieve health equity requires shared learning of what works best for whom. This observational study showed the Precision Paradigm’s usefulness for cross-model research to advance precision.

As a manifestation of mutual respect and an attitude of living in harmony, it is important to resolve land conflicts through a fair distribution of inheritance. Equitable distribution of inheritance is a process of distributing assets and land rights proportionally according to the needs and contributions of each party involved. Equitable distribution will create social justice and reduce injustice that may occur, so as to reduce conflict, one of which is by means of mediation. Equitable distribution of inheritance can also help develop communities and increase economic well-being. Also intended to eliminate feelings of resentment due to disputes that arise. By means of mediation, it is hoped that this family spirit will be maintained so that a harmonious and peaceful life can be created.

Respecting diverse journeys on many roads: First Peoples of North America can guide us on our path toward precision home visiting

Translation challenges persist among early childhood evidence-based home visiting programs. There is a need for a significant shift in the field to overcome the constraints of standardized home visiting interventions. A precision framework has been identified as a method to understand what is needed to address the unique needs of families. We argue that Indigenous experiences implementing home visiting programs overlap with precision home visiting because of the necessity to precisely tailor one-size-fits-all approaches to testing home visitation protocols that do not work for or were never tested in Indigenous communities. Indigenous values, ways of knowing, and worldviews resonate with precision approaches. We provide a concrete example of how these values guided the first pilot implementation study of a precision approach to home visiting called Precision Family Spirit. The process of designing Precision Family Spirit, coupled with considerations of Indigenous values, has much to teach about the need for precision home visiting.

Crisis Leadership: Voices from the Field

This qualitative study used a phenomenological approach and the Marianist characteristics as a conceptual framework to understand the experiences of six lay Marianist educational leaders during COVID-19. Findings indicated that during the pandemic leaders were faced with challenges pertaining to receiving an excess of information, inequity in technology, serving students with various learning needs, and the socioemotional health of students and teachers. Despite these difficulties, these leaders were able to uphold the Marianist characteristics of educating for adaptation and change, educating in family spirit, and for formation in faith. This study is significant because it provides the unique perspectives of how leaders of a Marianist urban high school were able to advance their mission during the global health pandemic. This study also adds to the crisis and Marianist leadership bodies of literature.

Based on the dignity and intrinsic sociability of the human person, this article asserts the importance of fraternity and family relationships in social life and in politics. Too many dreams about political integration have been shattered lately, while new walls of aggressive nationalism and isolationism are being built. In this situation, people everywhere feel the need for good politics and for “a healthy injection of family spirit.” (AL 183) In fact, there can be no universal fraternity without good politics, “built upon respect for law and frank dialogue between individuals.” (FT 196)

In the early days, humans have gained the upper hand by understanding the activities of animals and birds and creating their biological structures. Family structure is found in such animals. In their family structure, food and security occupy a prime position. In this article, how the poet observed the life of animals in their environment and used their emotions in their songs. Among them there are family sentiments of monkey, bear, deer, elephant etc. They share their food, protect each other, and show their family spirit by raising their young safely.

ORIGIN OF RAJPUT’S AND MAIN BRANCHES OF RAJPUT DYNASTY

India is a secular country with diverse caste-communities and ancient systems of life and a nation inspired by interfaith equality and Vasudhaiva family (वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्) spirit since time immemorial. The word Rajput has been in use since Muslim times but its roots are very ancient. I will try to give an idea about the origin of Rajput’s in my research article 'Origins of Rajput’s and Main Branches of Rajput Dynasty', I will also try to give a detailed idea of how many main branches of Rajput’s there are. Some foreign historians consider the Rajput’s to be foreigners, this is unfair, the Rajput’s were born the land of India and have perished in the protection of Motherland on this land. A few comments will also be presented that substantiate this matter. Thus, an attempt will be made here to present the origin of the Rajput’s and their main branches.

Towards precision home visiting: results at six months postpartum from a randomized pilot implementation trial to assess the feasibility of a precision approach to Family Spirit

BackgroundShared implementation challenges at scale in early childhood home visiting have led researchers to explore precision home visiting as a promising service delivery mechanism to better address families’ unique needs and build greater program efficiencies. This randomized controlled pilot study aimed to assess the acceptability of a precision approach to one home visiting model, Family Spirit® and explore potential differences between Precision Family Spirit (PFS) and Standard Family Spirit (Standard FS) on participant-home visitor relationship and maternal outcomes.MethodsParticipants (N = 60) were at least 14 years old, pregnant or within 2 months postpartum, and enrolled in Family Spirit. Four sites in Michigan were randomized 1:1 to deliver PFS (up to 17 core lessons plus up to 13 additional lessons as needed) or Standard FS (home visiting services as usual). Primary (program acceptability, participant satisfaction, home visitor-participant relationship quality, retention, adherence) and secondary (knowledge, quality of life, difficulty with parenting problems, substance use, depression, stress) outcomes at 6 months postpartum are presented. PFS participants also self-reported on quality of life, difficulty with parenting problems, stress, substance use, and concerns with sexual and reproductive health and self and child’s nutrition status at each home visit. This informed which lessons they should receive.ResultsMothers in both groups reported positive program acceptability, satisfaction, and home visitor-participant relationships at 6 months postpartum. However, open-ended feedback from Standard FS participants indicates that some lesson content may not be applicable to all participants. At 6 months, retention was 82.3% for PFS and 66.7% for Standard FS, and adherence was 30.1% for PFS and 20.6% for Standard FS.ConclusionsPreliminary findings indicate that precision home visiting may be acceptable and feasible. A definitive trial is needed to build on this pilot data, assess outcomes for mothers and children participating in a precision approach to home visiting as compared to standard home visiting, and ready this approach for scale.Trial registrationClinicalTrials.govNCT03975530 (first posted on 05/06/2019).

Legal Construction Appropriate Form of Business Agencies in The Development of Village-Owned Business Units By Notary Based on Law Number 6 of 2014 Concerning Village

The legal construction of the Village Owned Enterprise Deed in choosing a business form sometimes becomes a problem. This research is aimed at the legal construction of the proper form of business entity in the Deed of Village-Owned Enterprises by a Notary based on Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages. In addition, it is also to analyze the legal relationship of Village-Owned Enterprises as business entities in forming other legal entities as business activities using normative research methods. The results of the study state that, BUMDes is a village-owned enterprise established on the basis of the needs and potential of the village as an effort to improve community welfare with a family spirit, so the legal construction of the right form of business entity in the Deed of Village-Owned Enterprises by Notaries based on Law Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages is a cooperative or PT (Persero). The relationship between Village-Owned Enterprises as a business entity and other legal entities as business units is basically a two-sided legal relationship (tweezijdige rechtsbetrekkingen), namely the legal relationship between two parties accompanied by the rights and obligations of both parties. We recommend that the Regulation of the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Areas, and Transmigration Number 4 of 2015 concerning Establishment, Management and Management, and Dismissal of Village-Owned Enterprises does not limit the selection of legal construction of BUMDes business units, apart from that it is necessary to regulate BUMDes in the form of Laws especially regarding provisions state finances as separated capital, and the accountability of the board of directors.Keywords: Legal Construction, Village-Owned Business Unit Deed, Notary

Home visitor perspectives on implementing a precision approach to home visiting in communities serving Native American families.

Family Spirit (FS) is a federally endorsed evidence-based home visiting programs serving as a key prevention strategy for expectant families and families with young children. Like other home-visiting programs, it shares client challenges in retention and engagement during implementation. We assessed (1) the feasibility and acceptability of implementing a precision approach to FS; and (2) differences in approaches to FS delivery. Home visitors, serving primarily Native American families, that delivered a standard (N=6) or a precision approach (N=6) to FS across four study sites each participated in up to four virtual focus group discussions (FGDs) (N=16). Facilitators and barriers to implementation were identified across the curriculum approach, relational and contextual levels. Facilitators: Relevant and culturally sensitive lessons, lesson structure, client-home visitor relationship, client buy-in, home visitor autonomy, leadership support, flexible funding, and training. Barriers: Irrelevant lessons, substance use content, missing topics, families experiencing crises, client and home visitor availability, client feedback, nonsupportive leadership, inadequate funding, and organizational policies and practices. The precision approach offers (1) tailoring of lessons that supports relevance of content to clients; and (2) a target timeframe that supports flexibility in lesson delivery. This model structure may improve client participation and retention.

Using the quantitative approach of literature of library study with data collection directed to the search of documents and information through books, journals, articles and websites, and apply descriptive methods of interpretative that produce three main points: First, the plurality of societies the experience natural disaster; Second, in the plurality of these disaster victims, Christian hospitality goes to victims of natural disasters; Third, this hospitality can be realized in love for everyone without looking at their identity, “love” can be realized in the service of deacon, prayer and pastoral or psychic mentoring of victims of natural disasters.

Management of CEFE (Competency based Economies through Formation of Enterprises) Training for UMKM Actors in Cimahi City, West Java Province

This study aims to provide a study by describing the management of CEFE training in perfecting an entrepreneurship training program. The research method applied is a qualitative approach with Emic's view, then data collection involves UMKM actors, assistants and coordinators as well as data collection tools by observation, documentation, interviews and tests. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the management of the CEFE training was very helpful in training management and specifically for dealing with problems in the business world, then based on the discussion carried out, the management of the training model was more structured and focused when compared to not implementing the training model, then in This management applies real simulations to the entrepreneurial world which makes this model very suitable to be applied to entrepreneurship training programs. The impact of this research is to create insight into employment opportunities, increase entrepreneurial insight and create a family spirit and train participants to develop businesses through business partners.

BackgroundTrauma within Native American communities compromises parents’ parenting capacity; thus, increasing childrens’ risk for substance use and suicide over the lifespan. The objective of this manuscript is to describe the Wakȟáŋyeža (Little Holy One) intervention and evaluation protocol, that is designed to break cycles of intergenerational trauma, suicide, and substance use among Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux parents and their children.MethodsA randomized controlled trial with an embedded single-case experimental design will be used to determine effectiveness of the modular prevention intervention on parent-child outcomes and the added impact of unique cultural lesson-components. Participants include 1) Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux parents who have had adverse childhood experiences, and 2) their children (3–5 years). Parent-child dyads are randomized (1:1) to Little Holy One or a control group that consists of 12 lessons taught by Indigenous community health workers. Lessons were developed from elements of 1) the Common Elements Treatment Approach and Family Spirit, both evidence-based interventions, and 2) newly created cultural (intervention) and nutrition (control group only) lessons. Primary outcomes are parent (primary caregiver) trauma symptoms and stress. Secondary outcomes include: Parent depression symptoms, parenting practices, parental control, family routines, substance use, historical loss, communal mastery, tribal identity, historical trauma. Child outcomes include, externalizing and internalizing behavior and school attendance. Primary analysis will follow an intent-to-treat approach, and secondary analysis will include examination of change trajectories to determine impact of cultural lessons and exploration of overall effect moderation by age and gender of child and type of caregiver (e.g., parent, grandparent).DiscussionMany Native American parents have endured adverse childhood experiences and traumas that can negatively impact capacity for positive parenting. Study results will provide insights about the potential of a culturally-based intervention to reduce parental distress – an upstream approach to reducing risk for childrens’ later substance misuse and suicidality. Intervention design features, including use of community health workers, cultural grounding, and administration in Head Start settings lend potential for feasibility, acceptability, sustainability, and scalability.Trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov: NCT04201184.
