The efficacy of Nigella sativa oil in the prophylaxis and treatment of upper respiratory tract infections in children

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of Nigella sativa oil (NSO) in pediatric Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI). 230 pediatric URTI patients who were consecutively admitted to Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic between 05/12/2022 and 05/09/2023 whose parents agreed to participate were enrolled. Examinations were completed with 110 cases who were orally consuming standardized NSO exclusively, while 120 controls used no phytotherapeutics. Relationships of categorical variables were analysed by Chi-square. Group comparisons of continuous variables were performed with either t-test or Mann-Whitney U test, depending on the normality of distribution. Time-dependent differences in continuous variables between groups were analyzed by rANOVA. Generally accepted significance was p < 0.05. There were 230 cases, 108 boys and 122 girls. The mean age was 10.76 ± 3.75 years. The case and control groups were similar (p > 0.05) in terms of age and gender. At first follow-up, severity scores (p < 0.001) and prevalence of antibiotic use (p < 0.001) were significantly lower in cases compared to controls. Prevalence of visits with URTI and severity scores were significantly reduced at the 2nd follow-up (both p < 0.001). Time-dependent changes in all outcome measures were significantly in favor of cases (p < 0.001 for all).This study showed that severity score, prevalence of antibiotic use and visits with URTI decreased with oral NSO use. This study supports the existing evidence that natural products are promising alternative treatments with their safety and versatility and hopefully may promote further research on appropriate dosage, safety and efficacy of these drugs for evidence based and safe complementary treatments.

The Effect of Menopause Symptoms on Female Genital Self-Perception in Postmenopausal Women

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of menopausal symptoms on Female Genital Self-Perception (FGSP) in postmenopausal women.&#x0D; Methods: This descriptive and relationship-seeking study was conducted with women aged 40 and above who applied to the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic of a tertiary hospital between June and December 2022, who have not had a menstrual period for at least 12 months, and who met the inclusion criteria. The Patient Information Form, The Menopause Rating Scale (MRS), Vulvovaginal Symptom Questionnaire (VSQ), and the Female Genital Self-Image Scale (FGSIS) were used to obtain the data.&#x0D; Results: The mean age of 203 women included in the study was 57.53±6.70. The total mean scores obtained from the scales was 15.40±7.7 for MRS, 3.75±3.96 for VSQ, and 18.99 ±4.34 for FGSIS. An inverse and statistically significant relationship were found between MRS and VSQ total and sub-dimension scores and FGSIS scores (p:0.001 for all). A significant relationship was found between FGSIS score and body mass index and parity (r:-0.154, p:0.028 and r:-0.258, p:0.001). University graduates, those who had regular gynecological examinations, and people with a very good perception of general health status had significantly higher FGSIS scores (p:0.001 for all).&#x0D; Conclusion: According to the scale scores, the FGSP of postmenopausal women was moderate and negatively affected by the increase in menopausal symptoms. Obesity, an increase in the number of parities, low education level, and poor health perception were the factors that negatively affected FGSP.

The effectiveness of the trans-theoretical model in managing adult obese and overweight individuals.

The prevalence of obesity is gradually increasing in our country and worldwide. Being obese and overweight are risk factors for chronic diseases. Obesity has a multifactorial etiology, so treatment should involve lifestyle changes, psychological strategies, pharmacologic treatment, and bariatric surgery. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the trans-theoretical stages of change (TTM SOC) model in managing adult obese and overweight patients. This prospective cohort study was conducted with 133 adults who were admitted to the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic of Adana City Research and Training Hospital between April 1, 2017, and April 30, 2019. Socio-demographic characteristics, blood pressures, anthropometric measurements, and laboratory data were compared between the baseline and the first, third, and sixth months. Body mass index (BMI) was higher among those with a low educational level. The mean age, the number of medications used, and the metabolic parameter values were significantly lower among the participants who did not have a chronic disease. Blood pressures, weight, BMI, plasma glucose and insulin, HOMA-IR, and triglyceride were statistically significantly higher at the baseline compared to follow-up values. Fasting plasma glucose was higher at the baseline in diabetic patients. The results were compared with Student t and One Way ANOVA tests. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to demonstrate the association between baseline and repeated metabolic measurements. The trans-theoretical model is effective in managing adult obese and overweight individuals and also in glycemic control in obese Type-2 diabetics.

Enacting communication cycles after prediabetes: Mothers’ stories of diabetes risk and seeking support

Background: Diabetes is a family systems experience of multiple intergenerational relationships. Communicating about diabetes as a familial risk helps individuals perceive greater control over preventing diabetes. Aim: The present study investigates how mothers disclose their prediabetes to their family and the precipitating family communication, with the goal to interrupt the multigenerational legacy of diabetes. Method: Data were collected from a Family Medicine outpatient clinic. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to illicit information about mother-child communication about diabetes. Sort and Sift, Think and Shift analysis provided rich descriptions of mothers’ experiences. Results: The sample consisted of 9 women with prediabetes, aged 42-70, who had at least one child. Eight participants described at least 2 generations of family members with a diabetes-related diagnosis (prediabetes, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and gestational diabetes). First, we present two contextual factors that preexisted the prediabetes diagnosis, which influenced the disclosure decision: general health communication approach and personal evaluation of diabetes. Second, we present the communication cycles that supported self-management. Discussion: Continual communication cycles with family and clinicians can support mothers with prediabetes to enact self-management behaviors and delay the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: Mothers need family members to respond favorably to complete a positive communication cycle that can generate continuous emotional, social, and instrumental support.

Ensuring Continuity of Care: Effective Strategies for the Post-hospitalization Transition of Psychiatric Patients in a Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic.

In healthcare, continuity of care is a crucial element, especially for patients in the field of psychiatry who have recently been discharged from a hospital. The shift from inpatient to outpatient care poses challenges for patients and healthcare providers, including openness to treatment, competing priorities, financial insecurity, concerns and dilemmas faced by patients regarding their post-hospitalization life after improvements in symptoms, lack of social support, poor patient-doctor relationships, lack of insight, and stigma associated with mental illness. Therefore, it is vital to employ effective strategies to ensure patients receive the required care and support during this transition. This review delves into the significance of continuity of care for psychiatric patients post-hospitalization, effective strategies for the transition, and the challenges and barriers to implementation from the perspective of a family medicine practice. To analyze physicians' role in managing psychiatric patients post-hospitalization, we developed a comprehensive search strategy. This involved extracting relevant data, updates, guidelines, and recommendations. Our search spanned various online repositories, such as PubMed and Google Scholar, specifically focusing on US-based guidelines aligned with our objectives. The search was conducted using medical subject headings (MeSH) and combinations of "OR," "AND," and "WITH." We crafted keywords to optimize our search strategy, including psychiatric illness, post-hospitalization, follow-up, follow-up care, primary care follow-up, and guidelines. Exploring online repositories yielded 132 articles, and we identified some guidelines that addressed our objectives. We established inclusion and exclusion criteria for our review and reviewed 21 papers. Post-hospitalization follow-up is a critical facet of psychiatric care, aligning with guidelines from the American Psychiatric Association and other relevant sources. Emphasizing continuity of care ensures a smooth transition from inpatient to outpatient settings, sustaining therapeutic momentum and minimizing the risk of relapse. This comprehensive approach involves careful medication management, regular mental health assessments, education on condition-specific coping strategies, and coordinated care between healthcare providers. It includes conducting risk assessments, safety planning, building social support and community integration, prompt post-hospitalization follow-up, and tailored treatment plans. Together, these measures enhance overall wellness for recently discharged patients. This holistic strategy tackles pressing short-term needs while facilitating long-term stability, promoting resilience and successful community reintegration, reducing readmission likelihood, and ultimately supporting sustained recovery.

Prevalence, determinants, and fibrosis risk stratification of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease in a Turkish primary care setting: A retrospective study.

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a condition that frequently goes unnoticed as it typically remains asymptomatic until progressing to an advanced stage. As a result, it is essential to implement opportunistic screening initiatives within family medicine practices to accurately identify and refer selected at-risk patients to specialized care. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of MAFLD and advanced hepatic fibrosis among primary care patients in Turkiye by utilizing non-invasive tests. We performed a retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data from February 1, 2022, to April 14, 2023, at a Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic. The Hepatic Steatosis Index (HSI) was used to identify fatty liver cases, followed by established MAFLD criteria for diagnosis. Patients were then categorized based on advanced fibrosis risk using the fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) index. Among the 450 patients who sought primary care during the study period (286 women and 164 men; mean age: 48.2±13.7 years), 295 (65.6%) were diagnosed with MAFLD using HSI values and established criteria. Diabetes mellitus emerged as the sole independent predictor of MAFLD. FIB-4 values classified 242 (82%) and 53 (18%) patients with MAFLD at low and intermediate risk of advanced fibrosis, respectively, with none at high risk. MAFLD exhibits a notable prevalence among Turkish patients who presented at a Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic. Given the growing impact of metabolic diseases, primary care providers and non-liver specialists should actively participate in MAFLD screening programs.

Evaluation of Serum Magnesium Levels in Patients with Hypertension: A Case-control Study

"There are conflicting data on the effects of magnesium on hypertension in the literature. Therefore we aim this study to investigate whether there is a relationship between serum magnesium levels and hypertension in newly diagnosed. This is a case-control study. The patients were selected from the records of patients who applied to the family medicine outpatient clinic between June 2016 and May 2017. A total of 276 patients, 68 patients with newly diagnosed hypertension in the case group and 208 patients without any disease in the control group were included in the study. Binary logistic regression analysis was performed between the case and control groups. The odds ratio for magnesium was 0.1 (0.012-0.810). When the value of the magnesium variable increases by 1mg/dl, the risk of hypertension decreases by 90%. However, in the presence of magnesium as an independent variable, the predictability rate of our model was expected to increase but decreased. The odds ratio for age was 1.14 (1.092-1.186). The odds ratio for exercise was 0.18 (0.03-0.99). The odds ratio for glucose was 1.03 (1.001-1.065). In our study that magnesium deficiency causes an increased risk of hypertension, the predictability rate of our model was expected to increase instead of decrease. These findings show that a cause-effect approach or incidental association cannot explain the relationship between magnesium and hypertension."

How well is acupuncture known?

In our study, we aimed to assess participants' attitudes and knowledge of the use of acupuncture among those who were 18-65 years old. During the period of May 1–June 1, 2023, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out. Between the stated dates, anyone between the ages of 18 and 65 who applied to the Health Sciences University Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital's Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics for any reason and who accepted to participate in the study were included. The researcher administered the 24 questioned data form face-to-face with the individuals after obtaining their sociodemographic characteristics, chronic illnesses, knowledge of various TCM treatments and acupuncture. Among the participants, 167 people (73.6%) had information about acupuncture. Acupuncture was one of the most used applications in our survey, and most of the patients who experienced it were referred by physicians. Those who previously received acupuncture treatment knew more about the practice with a statistically significant difference (p=0.004). Those who knew about acupuncture and those who had previously had acupuncture said there was no danger or damage in receiving acupuncture, with a statistically significant difference (p=0.015, p=0.0001, respectively). Although acupuncture is one of the most well-known TCM uses, its use remains in the background. The internet being the most widely used information source limits access to reliable data. Acupuncture should be performed, like all TCM applications, by qualified physicians in authorized centers while taking the outcomes into consideration.

Noncompliance to Treatment and Its Associated Factors among Patients with Diabetes Mellitus in Karachi

Background: Noncompliance to treatment is a widespread problem globally, particularly among people with chronic conditions like diabetes mellitus. Objective: We aimed to assess the frequency of treatment noncompliance and its associated factors among patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: The study was conducted at the family medicine outpatient clinics at the Aga Khan Hospital during one month from 1st to 30th December, 2019. Using a cross-sectional design, we recruited 151 patients with type 2 diabetes who willingly agreed to participate in the research. We employed a pre-approved, self-administered, and structured questionnaire to gather data on demographics, clinical features, and treatment compliance among patients. Results: There were 77 female and 74 male participants. The average age of the participants was 54.7±11.5 years. Among the 151 individuals in the study, 112 were noncompliant with their prescribed treatment. There was a significant association between treatment non-compliance and lower monthly income (p=0.039), participant’s age (p=0.020), and duration of the disease exceeding 5 years (p&lt;0.001). The group of patients with noncompliance also had a higher risk of diabetic foot (p = 0.002) and retinopathy (p = 0.009). When asked about their reasons for noncompliance, participants cited drug side effects (91%), forgetfulness to take medications (81%), and complexity of drug therapy (66%). Conclusion: Our findings revealed a notable prevalence of noncompliance among participants, which was associated with an elevated risk of complications. The Older age and disease duration for longer than 5 years were factors associated the most with noncompliance. Such interventions could significantly reduce the likelihood of developing diabetes-related complications.

The Relationship of Pain Sensitivity and Severity with Quality of Life in Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain

Aim: To evaluate the relationship of pain sensitivity and pain severity with pain-related quality of life in patients with chronic low back pain. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with individuals who applied to the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic of a tertiary hospital, and who had low back pain for at least 3 months. To obtain data, Patient Information Form, Dallas Pain Questionnaire, Graded Chronic Pain Scale-Revised, and Pain Sensitivity Questionnaire were used. Results: While the total pain sensitivity of the 196 participants was detected to be moderate, 46.9% were Grade-3 according to Chronic Pain Scale-Revised. A significant correlation was found between the grade groups and age, presence of chronic disease, low back pain duration, treatment status, and compliance to advice. A significant relationship was found between grade groups and daily activities and work and leisure activities subgroups of Dallas Pain Questionnaire. The total Pain Sensitivity Questionnaire score was higher in women and those who did not receive any treatment for low back pain. Conclusion: A number of socio-demographic and low back pain related variables were associated with pain severity and sensitivity. Daily activity, and work and leisure activities, which indicate the quality of life, were negatively affected by the increase in the severity of low back pain. Determination of cardiovascular risks in adult individuals and assessment of the level of knowledge of cardiovascular risk factors

Aims: In the last century, the negative effects of factors such as nutrition, intense work tempo and stress on cardiovascular health have been increasing. The importance of preventive health services is increasing and policies are being developed to increase quality. In Family Medicine practice, calculating the CVD risk that adult patients who do not have complaints about the cardiovascular system may experience in the coming years becomes important in this sense. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to calculate the ten-year risk of fatal cardiovascular events by SCORE risk scoring in apparently cardiovascularly healthy individuals presenting to a family medicine outpatient clinic and to plan treatment according to the results. We also aim to evaluate the awareness of CVD risk factors in these individuals by using the CARRF-KL Scale, whose reliability and efficacy have been shown in various previous studies. Methods: 122 voluntary individuals between the ages of 40-80 were recruited to a family medicine polyclinic for any reason (43 males, 79 females). Participants' awareness was assessed by the cardiovascular disease risk awareness scale (KARRIF-BD) and the 10-year cardiovascular disease risk by the SCORE risk score. Results: When the participants' SCORE risk averages were examined, 32.8% were low risk, 50.8% middle risk, 10.7% high risk and 5.7% very high risk group. When SBP levels according to the SCORE risk distribution were evaluated, in 7 patients with a very high risk distribution and the SBP value was higher than 130 mmHg, 2 of which were in the range of 130-139 mmHg, and 5 of them were above 140 mmHg. There was a statistically significant correlation between total cholesterol and LDL-C levels and SCORE risk score distribution of lipid profile distributions of participants (p&lt;0.05). This relationship was not detected in HDL-C and TG levels. The mean scores of the men in the study group on the Karrif-BD scale were 24.83, while the women were 24.31 and there was no difference between the gender. When the KARRIF-BD scale mean scores were compared with the SCORE risk score distribution, no significant difference was found between the groups (F=1.026, p=0.384). Conclusion: Our study suggests that SCORE risk assessment in cardiovascular disease is an easy assessment that can routinely be performed in family medicine outpatient clinics. Hemangiomas are the most common benign tumors of the head and neck region, but are rarely seen in the oral cavity. Tongue localized hemangiomas are encountered in 7.8% of cases. Depending on their size, hemangiomas located on the tongue can cause recurrent spontaneous bleeding, pain, speech and chewing disorders and shortness of breath. In this article, a case of hemangioma of the tongue characterized by speech disorder in a 7-year-old boy who presented to our family medicine outpatient clinic is presented and discussed in the light of the literature.

Knowledge, Attitude, and Behavior Levels of Postmenopausal Women about Osteoporosis

Background: Osteoporosis can be delayed by providing accurate and adequate information to people at risk. Therefore, we aimed to determine the knowledge, attitude, and behavior levels of women in the postmenopausal period, which is the largest group at risk.Methods: The study was conducted in a tertiary Training and Research Hospital between 1 December 2018 and 1 May 2019 in 225 postmenopausal women who applied to the Family Medicine outpatient clinic and bone mineral density (BMD) outpatient clinics for BMD measurement or had previously had this measurement at least once. A questionnaire evaluating the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior levels related to osteoporosis was applied to all patients included in the study.Results: The mean age was 58.05±9.1 years. The median osteoporosis knowledge score was 7 out of 19 points. A total of 119 (52.9%) had low knowledge scores and 106 (47.1%) had higher knowledge scores. Of the individuals with high scores, 40 (37.7%) were smoking, 64 (60.4%) did not sunbathe, 89 (84%) did not consume the recommended daily amount of calcium, and 58 (54.7%) were not exercising in the recommended time. It was seen that those who were university graduates, who had previously learned about osteoporosis from a health professional, and who had a family history of osteoporosis had higher knowledge levels.Conclusions: Even in postmenopausal women who are aware that they are in the risk group and that they should have BMD, their knowledge, attitude, and behavior levels on osteoporosis were found to be quite low.

Evaluatıon of the Fagerström Nicotine Dependence Test and the Situation of Smoking Patients Wishing to Stop Smoking in the Family Medicine Polyclinic

Objective: According to the results of the Türkiye Health Survey; While the rate of individuals aged 15 and over who use tobacco products every day was 28.0% in 2019, it increased to 28.3% in 2022. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), smoking is the cause of death for more than 8 million people each year. The use of tobacco and tobacco products is an important health problem that harms individuals and societies, has attracted attention all over the world in recent years, and needs to be treated. In our study, it was aimed to evaluate the addiction status of individuals applying to our outpatient clinics, to determine what measures should be taken for the treatment of smoking and to determine if there is a regional awareness in the addiction score.&#x0D; Methods: Our study, which was planned as a cross-sectional, descriptive and prospective study, included 184 people over the age of 18, who were active smoking and who accepted to participate in the study, who applied to Ordu University Medical Faculty Family Medicine Polyclinic between 12.10.2021 and 15.01.2022 for any reason. The Fagerström Nicotine Dependence Test was used in the analysis of the addiction score. Evaluation of Cardiovascular Risk Levels of Patients Admitted to the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic

Amaç: Bu çalışmada aile hekimliği polikliniğine başvuran 40 yaş ve üzeri hastaların 10 yıl içerisindeki kardiyovasküler hastalığa bağlı ölüm risk düzeylerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. &#x0D; Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi Antalya Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Aile Hekimliği Polikliniği’ne 1 Ekim - 30 Kasım 2022 tarihleri arasında başvuran 40 yaş ve üzeri hastalar dahil edildi. Araştırmacılar tarafından hastaların sigara kullanım durumu sorgulandı ve sistolik kan basınçları ölçüldü. Hastaların hastane sisteminde son altı ay içerisinde yer alan total kolesterol değerleri kayıt altına alındı. Approach of Female Patients to Screening Tests in the Prevention of HPV-Related Cervical Cancer and the Effect of Physician's Recommendation

The aim of our study was to evaluate the cervical cancer screening test status of female patients between the ages of 30-65 who applied to the family medicine outpatient clinic for any reason. If they have not had the screening test, it is aimed to provide information and relevant education to the patients about the test, and then to include the patient in the national cervical cancer screening program by improving the patient's knowledge and awareness and also to contribute to preventive health care, which is our principle of family medicine specialty. Our study was prospective observational research in which evaluating the status of having a cervical cancer screening test after appropriate information. Patients were asked about their cervical cancer screening test status, and all participants were informed about this issue, and the patients who did not get tested were contacted again by phone one month later to evaluate the status of taking the test. A unique structured questionnaire form was used for the study. A total of 146 women who agree to participate voluntarily were included in the study. The mean age of the patients was 44.39±9.26 years and 64.4% had not gone through menopause. Of the patients, 87% were married, 48.6% were university graduates, and 49.3% were not employed. 66.4% of patients had had a cervical cancer screening test at least once, while 28.9% of them had been tested more than five years ago, 2.1% did not remember when they had the test. Of those who had the screening test, 57.7% had the test for health check-up, 73.5% of those who did not get tested they did not have a test because they did not need or had any complaints. 73.3% of the patients had not received training on the screening tests. 51.3% of those receiving training stated that they received training from the hospital and 28.2% from the family health center. After being informed about the cervical cancer screening test, 58.9% (n=86) of the patients considered having the test. It was determined that 26.6% of the patients (n=79) who did not have the screening test in accordance with the screening program and who never tested, had the screening test done after being informed. Consider the average age of the patients, it was determined that their participation in the cervical cancer screening program was quite low. The fact that more than half of the participants considered having a screening test after the physician's recommendation and training, and the fact that one quarter of the participants who were due to have the screening test after one month had the screening test, shows the importance of the physician's recommendation and education.

Investigation of the Effect of Women's Breast Cancer Worry Levels on Breast Cancer Prevention Behavior.

The aim of this study was to investigate the extent of worry about breast cancer (BC) amongst a sample of women and to examine the effect of this on behavior to prevent BC. This cross-sectional study was conducted in 271 women aged 18 years and above who attended the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic of a tertiary hospital and met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the following tools: Patient Information Form; Breast Cancer Worry Scale (BCWS); Breast Cancer Prevention Behaviors Identification Scale (BCPBIS); and Mammography Processes of Change Scale (MPCS). When evaluated according to BCWS scores (mean 8.43±3.36), the BC worry levels were found to be low. The behavior adopted for prevention was also found to be positive according to BCPBIS (mean 119±15.26) and MPCS (mean 82.38±12.81) scores. A significant correlation was found between the BCWS and both the BCPBIS and MPCS scores, and again between the BCPBIS and MPCS scores (p<0.001 for all). There was a correlation with three scale scores in those who had knowledge about BC, and those who had regular clinical breast examination (BE) (p<0.05 for all). The BCPBIS score was found to be higher in those aged between 41-65 years, those who had mammography, and performed p self-BE (p = 0.002; p<0.001; p<0.001, respectively). According to the MPCS score, mammography behaviors was found to be more positive in those who had regular gynecological examinations and those who had mammography (p = 0.08 and p = 0.011). The participants generally had low BC worry levels and had adopted positive behavior for prevention. Being informed about BC and screening and having regular BE increased BC worry. Those with high BC worry, those who had mammography before, those who had knowledge about BC and screening, and those who regularly performed BE showed more positive behaviors toward preventing BC.

Evaluation of Patients aged over 65 years who applied to Ankara Training and Research Hospital Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics: Comparison Before and After Covid-19 Pandemic

Aim: Taking into account the importance and priority of the geriatric age group, the aim of our study was to examine the reasons for and the number of visits to primary health care institutions, to compare them before and after the Covid-19 pandemic, and to draw attention to the importance of geriatric sciences in family medicine specialty training in the light of this evaluation.&#x0D; &#x0D; Materials and Methods: Patients who applied to the Ankara Training and Research Hospital (EAH) Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics between 01.03.2020-31.12.2022 constitute the population of the study. Patients were retrospectively evaluated before and after the Covid-19 pandemic according to their admission rates and diagnoses. The outpatient clinics they applied to were analyzed. Musculoskeletal system problems were analyzed under a separate heading according to diagnoses.&#x0D; Results: Out of 47014 diagnoses above the age of 65 during the pandemic period, I10 - Essential (Primary) Hypertension was the most common diagnosis, except for general medical examinations and screening examinations. In the post-Covid-19 period, 45928 diagnoses were made in 14398 patients over the age of 65. After general medical and laboratory examinations, the most common diagnose was I10 Essential Hypertension in both period. The complaints of sore throat and cough are the symptoms that we encounter frequently in our daily routine, and it is important to remember that if not thoroughly examined, different underlying diseases can be revealed. Our case was applied to the family medicine outpatient clinic with complaints of sore throat and cough, and a mass appearance was observed during the chest radiography requested due to abnormal findings from the sounds coming from the patient's lung.
