Has the Digital Economy Enhanced the Income Distribution Effect Among Industries? Evidence from China

A powerful correlation exists among the advancement of the economy of digital, sustainable economic advancement, and income distribution. The advancement of the digital economy provides a significant motivating factor for sustainable economic development, while sustainable economic development provides a strong guarantee for income distribution, and the improvement of income distribution is also conducive to sustainable economic development. What is the connection between the digital economy and income distribution? This is the focus of this paper and also an important way to clarify the association between the advancement of the digital economy, sustainable economic development, and income distribution. This paper aims to explore whether the advancement of the digital economy has enhanced the effect of income distribution among industries and examine the role of production efficiency and human capital. Through the use of the multidimensional fixed-effect model, this study finds that the development of the digital economy is favorable to enhancing the income distribution effect among industries, and this income distribution enhancement effect is more prominent in large-scale non-state-owned enterprises. In addition, we also find that digital transformation can dramatically improve the total factor productivity of enterprises, thus enhancing the income distribution impact among industries. The promotion of digital transformation can also improve the quality of human capital in enterprises, strengthen the income distribution impact between industries, and reduce the income disparity among industries. The industry income gap measurement method and the industry perspective of income distribution adopted in this paper contribute to the existing literature and will contribute to the development of income distribution equity in the era of the digital economy and also provide a new vision for sustainable economic development from the perspective of income distribution.

The impact of capital flight on economic development: An empirical analysis from Palestine

This study focused on the function of capital flight to ascertain the true impact of the phenomenon of capital flight on economic development in Palestine and aimed to analyze the short- and long-term dynamic relationship between capital flight and economic development, including other affected variables. This research employed a quantitative research design and the descriptive analysis method. The analysis uses quarterly data from 2004 to 2022. This study employed the autoregressive distribution lag (ARDL) bound testing approach. Actual data from Palestine spanning the years 2004-2022 yielded significant findings. Based on heteroskedastic dynamic regression as an ARDL panel model, important findings were reached. First, both local country fundamentals and global variables have an impact on economic development and its rates over the long term, but in the near term, global forces may be predominantly recognized as drivers. Second, the variable of interest, capital flight, has a favorable impact on tax advantages. The empirical findings revealed that the short- and long-run analyses are consistent with each other. This necessitates putting into practice a variety of tactics, from creating efficient judicial and political institutions to encouraging economic development through managing macroeconomic issues. This study provides a fresh insight for policymakers to evaluate the impact of capital flight on economic development factors when coordinating fiscal and monetary policy in Palestine. The monetary and fiscal authorities should create an efficient policy framework. Palestine must reduce and stop the outflow of cash from inside its borders to improve its capacity to pay back its loans and debts to foreign creditors.

Public management of economic development under the conditions of martial law and the post-war period as a factor of economic security and sustainable development of Ukraine

The article attempts to compare and systematize the experience of post-war reconstruction of Croatia, Serbia, and Iraq, in the very essence of their paradigms of reconstruction. The analyzed cases are refracted through the prism of the current war in Ukraine, in order to reveal actual situation in economic and sustainable development of the country and outline conceptual recommendations to apply in further processes of recovery, both in today state of armed conflict and in future reconstruction.

Sustainable development of the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation: current state and prospects

The issues and prospects of sustainable development of the Republic of Bashkortostan with a focus on innovation aspects have been considered in order to develop recommendations to ensure the long-term progress of the region. The research methodology is based on the analysis and comparison of economic, social, and environmental factors of sustainable development, assessment of the role of innovation in each sphere, study of successes and experience of other constituent entities of the Russian Federation and foreign countries, as well as on the proposals for creating regional centers for assessing and monitoring sustainable development that in their activities will be focused on comprehensive research in regional socio-economic systems, considering the innovation component. The main spheres and components of ensuring sustainable development of the region have been defined and presented. The main study results are: identification of key aspects of sustainable development of the Republic of Bashkortostan; identification of issues and prospects in developing the economy and social and environmental spheres; analysis of the role of innovation in ensuring sustainable development; recommendations development for creating regional centers for assessing and monitoring sustainable development. Sustainable development of the territory is one of the main strategic objectives of the constituent entity. In order to achieve it, it is necessary to continue the work, as well as to increase attention to innovations, education and management systems. The centers creation can contribute to the system analysis and assessment of sustainable development processes, as well as the development of recommendations and strategies to improve the economic, social, and environmental condition of the territory.

Impact of Climate Change and Human Activities on the Ecological Sensitivity of the Yangtze River Economic Belt

The increasing climate change and human activities exert their influence on the ecological sensitivity of the region individually and interactively. Therefore, a clear understanding of the impact of climate change and human activities on ecological sensitivity will enhance the resilience of the regional ecological environment and the level of sustainable development. This study took the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the first demonstration zone of China's ecological civilization construction, as the research object. Based on the meteorological, remote sensing, and statistical data of 130 cities in the whole region from 2001 to 2021, an index system of climate change, human activities, and ecological sensitivity was constructed. Response surface methodology （RSM） was used to explore the effects of climate and anthropogenic single factors and interactions on the ecological sensitivity in each region. The results showed that： ① The ecological sensitivity value of the belt fluctuated and rose in time, rising by 2.2% from 2001 to 2021. In terms of space, the overall spatial distribution was "high in the north and low in the south." In 2021, the proportion of severely and extremely sensitive cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt reached nearly 50%. ② For a single factor, the distribution of the effect of the same factor had certain characteristics： The areas where the single factors of economic development, rainfall, and temperature had a positive impact on the ecological sensitivity were concentrated in the areas with higher or faster economic development, along and south of the Yangtze River. For the interaction factors, the effect of 78.6% of the factors on the ecological sensitivity was negative interaction, and the change of one factor level would change the direction of the effect of the other factor on the regional sensitivity. ③ The comprehensive ecological management area of the Yangtze River Economic Belt was divided based on the ecological sensitivity and climate sensitivity. The governance areas that needed priority improvement were clustered within the three urban agglomerations and their northern adjacent areas, which meant that the ecological sensitivity and climate sensitivity of a city had spillover effects. This study is expected to provide inspiration for the economic zone and even the national and global efforts in the field of regional ecological governance.

The financial market is a key factor in economic development, an important tool for the redistribution and transformation of investment resources, as well as a litmus test of the state's economic health. The peculiarity of the Russian financial market is its "youth" and "inexperience" in comparison with the markets of developed economies, the path of trial and error, inconsistency in the context of the uniqueness of the financial system of the Russian Federation. This market is particularly vulnerable and volatile in the face of sanctions and global economic turmoil, so it needs competent targeting guidance, effective tools and verified coordination methods and techniques. The fundamental problems of the Russian financial market are quite deep and do not always appear on the surface, which requires an in-depth and permanent tactical and strategic analysis of factors, causes, trends, trends and indicators that can correct the situation in a timely manner in any economic scenario in manual management. The article examines the main features, rallies, features and directions of the development of the financial market of the Russian Federation at the present stage. The analysis of the issuer's statements for 2005–2023, dividend payments for the same period is presented, the dynamics of growth of the segment of mutual funds and exchange-traded mutual funds is considered. A comparative structure of household financial assets in 2017 and 2023 is proposed, the share of different organizational and legal forms of joint-stock companies in the total number of joint-stock companies in 2019–2023, the share of different groups of banks in the value of assets of the Russian banking system in 2000–2023 is given. The final results of the study substantiate the importance of the role of the state as a regulator of the stock market, emphasize its Russian functions, and highlight its conceptual problems. The research is based on the analysis of foreign and Russian publications, as well as on statistical conclusions of financial and statistical data.

An empirical analysis of worldwide impunity

Our research investigates the relationship between economic and social development indicators and the prevalence of impunity within a country. As countries develop, their institutions tend to function more efficiently and impartially, resulting in less impunity as crimes and violations are more efficiently investigated and prosecuted. We describe a country’s level of economic and social development along seven dimensions and use such a description in a beta regression analysis to predict the level of impunity in 119 countries. We estimate the elasticities of impunity with respect to the variables representing the different dimensions of economic and social progress. We present plots with the estimated elasticity curves for scenarios indicative of less and more socially and economically developed societies and also for the scenario indicative of societies in transition between the two groups. We also identify the countries with the best and worst performance in terms of their levels of impunity in relation to the levels of the conditioning variables. It is shown that Nordic countries exhibit lower impunity than expected based on their economic and social development factors. Conversely, the United States displays a significantly higher level of impunity than expected from its development indicators.

ORGANIZATIONAL AND ECONOMIC MECHANISMS FOR ADDRESSING WAR-INDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN EUROPEAN POST-WAR CONTEXTS

Abstract: The article focuses on the development of organizational and economic mechanisms for addressing environmental problems caused by war in European post-war contexts and the implementation of the germinative development concept in these conditions. The tools for mitigating the negative environmental impact on business entities are identified. Overall, the article employs innovative approaches to effective management of environmental, resource-based, and germinative factors of economic development. The strengths and weaknesses of each approach are identified, and the appropriateness of their application to specific factors is demonstrated. Methodology: The study employs logical and dialectical methods; methods of synthesis, comparison, grouping, generalization of the systemic approach, as well as expert evaluation, questionnaires, planning, forecasting, and mathematical modeling methods. Scientific Novelty: A mechanism for managing the factors of ecological and resource influence on business activities is proposed, which ensures the efficiency of implemented innovations and the coordination of both material resources and financial flows, based on modeling these processes. Scientific approaches to their formation and post-conflict management tools are proposed, based on process modeling to ensure the stable functioning of business entities in post-war conditions, in accordance with EU requirements and standards.

Urban land use simulation and carbon-related driving factors analysis based on RF-CA in Shanghai, China

As global climate change intensifies, climate protection is important for the sustainable development of human society. In the process of urbanization and industrialization, carbon dioxide emissions are an important factor contributing to global warming. Therefore, modelling projections of future urban land use under low-carbon scenarios are essential for sustainability policy development. Few studies have focused on the impact of carbon emissions on urban land use change in Shanghai, as current research has primarily concentrated on developing methods for urban land use modelling. This paper utilizes a cellular automata (CA) simulation model based on the Random Forest (RF) algorithm to select various spatial variables of carbon emissions as the driving factors that affect urban land use changes. These variables include traffic location factors, economic development factors, electricity consumption, and population density. In this study, remote sensing imagery of urban nighttime lighting is also used to construct a simulation model of land use types in Shanghai. The model is then used to analyze the contribution of carbon emission constraints to urban land use changes. Actual historical land use data from 2013 and 2019 are used for validation, and the prediction model is used to predict land use outcomes under different low-carbon scenarios in 2025. The model is validated by simulating multiple intra-city land use maps for 2019 (kappa = 0.88, OA=92.71 %). The method of out-of-bag error from the random forest is used to evaluate the significance of carbon emission constraints. Using the validated model, the constraints in the CA model are changed to predict the land use simulation results of Shanghai in 2025 under different low-carbon scenarios. In terms of significance, factors such as distance to power plants, distance to major roads, real GDP, and population density can all have a significant impact on changes in urban land use. By selecting the low-carbon scenario with the most appropriate thresholds for each driver, it is possible to obtain the land use simulation results of Shanghai in 2025 under the optimal low-carbon scenario, while ensuring the high accuracy of the RF-CA model and simultaneously reducing the impact of factors on the city’s overall carbon emissions. This paper provides a scientific base for urban planners and scholars to thoughtfully design urban land use while cutting down on carbon emissions. Furthermore, it can aid government agencies in establishing associated planning approaches.

Productive Performance of Biomass Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) and Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp) Cultivars in Different Cropping Systems and Planting Times

Global projections indicate that the demand for fresh water, energy, and food will increase significantly in the coming decades under the pressure of population growth, economic development, climate change, and other factors. Faced with this, technologies that promote sustainable development through the use of clean energy will be imperative. That way, this study aimed at evaluating the productive performance of biomass sorghum and cowpea cultivars in different cropping systems and planting seasons. The experiment was conducted at the Caatinga Experimental Field at Embrapa Semiarid, Petrolina—PE. Four cowpea (BRS Itaim, BRS Gurguéia, BRS Guariba, and BRS Carijó) and two biomass sorghum cultivars (BRS 716 and AGRI-002E) were used in intercropping and monoculture systems. The cultivars were sown during two different seasons: June (season 1—winter) and December (season 2—summer) of 2021. The biometric and productive parameters and land equivalent ratios (LERs) of sorghum and cowpea were evaluated. The data were subjected to multivariate analysis. The productive performance of biomass sorghum cultivars Agri-002E and BRS 716 was higher when planted in December, with an increase of 37% due to the planting season. Cowpea productivity was not influenced by sowing seasons or the cultivation system. Based on the calculation of efficient land use, the intercropping between biomass sorghum cultivar BRS 716 and cowpea cultivars BRS Gurguéia, BRS Guariba, and BRS Carijó was advantageous when compared to monocultures planted in the hottest season. This study showed the importance of cultivar selection, the planting time, and land use efficiency in intercropping systems.

According to the Global Green Economy Index (GGEI), Georgia currently holds a not too bad position in terms of the implementation and development of a universal circular green economy, which in turn is an effective way to economic development, both in the direction of the production of renewable and recyclable resources, as well as the introduction and use of a wide range of biotechnologies and By preserving biodiversity. The ongoing expansion of the social economy has resulted in an improvement in Chinese inhabitants' living conditions. This has also influenced people's consuming concepts and actions. People are increasingly developing national self-confidence, deepening emotional resonance, and earning public awareness for a variety of national brand enterprises. As a result, these firms are progressively becoming a key factor in China's economic development. The Wahaha Company is depicted in the paper as an exploratory item. The purpose of this article is to look into Wahaha's actions, which may have influenced consumers to buy the product in huge amounts following the death of its inventor, Zong Qinghou. The analysis method is based on the marketing mix theory of 4Rs. This article uses the marketing mix theory of 4Rs to investigate why consumers purchased enormous quantities of products following Zong Qinghou's death, resulting in a significant boost in the company's sales. The study concludes that companies can improve consumer interaction by combining the marketing theory of 4Rs with appropriate emotional marketing, as well as staying current with health trends by developing specialty beverages that are more in line with consumer needs, using AI to provide better human care for the company, and developing closer relationships with consumers.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE RATE PREDICTION OF INDONESIA'S LARGEST TRADING PARTNER BASED ON VECTOR ERROR CORRECTION MODEL

Foreign exchange rates from the currencies of trading partners are a critical element in the development of Indonesia's economic landscape. As an active country in international trade, Indonesia's economic health is highly dependent on trade partnerships, movements, and interactions of foreign exchange rates from Indonesia's main trading partners. To achieve economic stability, Bank Indonesia intervenes in the foreign exchange market to keep the Rupiah exchange rate within a reasonable range. Indonesia is committed to achieving several points in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as point 17, which emphasizes partnerships, and point 8, which underlines inclusive and sustainable economic growth. This commitment is an important factor in Indonesia's economic development. Therefore, it is necessary to predict the exchange rate value of Indonesia's largest trading partners considering these SDG aspects. In this study, the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) was used to predict the foreign exchange rate of Indonesia's largest trading partners. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the investing.com webpage, comprising weekly data from January 2021 to November 2023. The foreign exchange rates of Indonesia's largest trading partners have a cointegration relationship, indicating long-term relationships and similarities in movements. The best model identified is VECM (1), with a very accurate MAPE value of 3.29%. The Impulse Response Function (IRF) analysis shows that the Chinese Yuan responds variably to different currencies, stabilizing over time. Variance Decomposition reveals that short-term fluctuations in the Chinese Yuan are primarily influenced by itself (87.89%) and significantly by the Singapore Dollar, South Korean Won, and Taiwan Dollar. The Granger Causality Test indicates that the Philippine Peso influences 11 other exchange rates, refining the VECM model and improving prediction accuracy. Indonesia is expected to build economic collaborations that can help achieve economic stability.

EU Capacity to Bolster and Stimulate Research and Innovation: Who is the Leader in Development?

Abstract This study investigates the role of innovation in attaining economic growth and development in the 27 EU Member States (EU-27). Our analytical approach employs advanced panel data econometric methods, including an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model and data mapping analysis. Additionally, an interactive approach to regulatory quality was introduced to evaluate its influence on economic development. The results suggest that innovation significantly impacts economic development in both the long and short term. Empirical evidence indicates that the quality of regulatory frameworks is a main factor in shaping economic development in both the long and short terms. The main findings imply the need for countries to align their strategies with the effective integration of digital technologies and sustained innovation and further substantially invest resources in R&D capabilities to ensure robust economic progress. Among the countries examined, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, and Denmark exhibited the highest levels of innovation. Some nations, with significant economic potential, such as Romania and Bulgaria, tend to underinvest in R&D.

Analysis of Human Resources performance through Innovation (Literature Study)

Human resources are an important factor in economic development in Indonesia. Abundant human resources if used effectively and efficiently are certainly very useful in the pace of sustainable development. Innovation is a new idea or concept with the aim of improving a product according to consumer expectations and desires. The relationship between human resources and innovation is very close, where innovation must be carried out for the benefit of the organization and also create innovative human resources in order to create a culture of innovation in an organization. This research uses a literature study using relevant research. In other research, it was found that there are obstacles in developing innovative human resources. This is caused by not yet finding the right strategy, an inappropriate reward system and ineffective training. To overcome this problem, human resources are needed who have the ability to develop other human resources with innovation and guarantee employee satisfaction with the awards they receive, in the form of salaries, incentives and other things.

Multiplier and investment in modern Russia in the context of stimulating economic development in the context of sanctions

Aim. To analyze the degree of investment impact on economic growth in modern Russia.Objectives. To study the multiplier effect as a key tool for stimulating economic activity and creating new jobs, developing innovations and reducing social inequality; to identify its significance for the national economy in modern conditions of inherent uncertainty.Methods. The research is based on the empirical study of the multiplier effect and gas pedal effect on the materials of the modern Russian economy. The analysis is based on the use of dynamic time series, definition of dependent and independent variables in the context of identified correlations between them. The data of literary sources on the assessment of the impact of the investment multiplier effect on economic growth were also studied.Results. The multiplier effect can have a significant impact on the formation of the structure of the economy, contributing to an increase in production, reducing unemployment and improving the standard of living of the population. The study of this effect allows us to better understand the mechanisms of economic functioning and develop recommendations for optimizing investment policy to achieve sustainable economic growth, which is important for modern Russia developing under sanctions pressure. The study of paired regression revealed a mathematical relationship between the increase in investment in fixed capital and the growth of gross domestic product (GDP), as well as between GDP growth and the increase in investment in fixed capital. The high correlation coefficient (r = 0.945896) and coefficient of determination (R² = 89.47 %) confirm that there is a strong relationship between fixed capital investment and GDP. This indicates that most of the changes in output can be explained through changes in fixed capital investment.Conclusions. The results of the analysis confirm the importance of investment in fixed capital as a key factor of economic growth and development in modern Russia. Strengthening investment activity allows not only to increase the level of economic development as a whole, but also contributes to the creation of favorable conditions for sustainable growth of income of the population, innovation activity, etc. In this regard, investment stimulation should become one of the priorities in the current Russian economic policy.

An empirical analysis of the development of China’s rural market economy system

ABSTRACT This paper presents a comprehensive study conducted from 2000 to 2021, utilizing a 14-indicator index to measure China’s rural Marketization economic development. The indicators encompass four dimensions: rural market subjects, rural market systems, rural land property rights, and government macroeconomic regulation and control. The research covers national and regional levels, providing insights into the following key findings: Firstly, China has witnessed a consistent improvement in the level of rural market economic development across national, regional, and provincial tiers. This progress can be predominantly attributed to advancements in rural land property rights, characterized by enhanced land tenure security and a significant reduction in land disputes. Secondly, Western China has maintained a synchronized development pace with central and eastern regions, resulting in relatively minor developmental disparities. Nevertheless, the progression of rural market subjects in western China remains a limiting factor in further enhancing rural market economic development. Simultaneously, government macroeconomic regulation and control act as a constraining element in driving nationwide rural market economic development. Given the persistent imbalance in regional development, concerted efforts should be made to gradually narrow the developmental gap among the western, central, and eastern regions at both the rural market entity and government macro-control levels.

Systematic review of the economic impacts of bioenergy on agricultural markets

This systematic review examines the economic impacts of bioenergy on agricultural markets, synthesising findings from existing literature across various regions and climatic conditions. Analysing effects on crop prices, land use decisions, and economic sustainability, the review highlights key insights. It identifies common trends, patterns, and divergences. Bioenergy production interacts with agricultural markets through multiple channels, influenced by policy interventions, technological innovation, and market dynamics. Implications for policy, practice, and future research are discussed, emphasising the importance of considering economic factors in bioenergy development and agricultural policy-making. The findings underscore the need for integrated modeling approaches, data improvements, and cross-sectoral collaboration to inform evidence-based decision-making and promote sustainable bioenergy development. Tracing residual patterns and microbial communities of pharmaceuticals and personal care products from 17 urban landfills leachate in China

Landfill leachate contributes significantly to the presence of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in the environment, and is a crucial source of contamination. To examine the occurrence of PPCPs and microbial communities, this study comprehensively investigated the concentrations of PPCPs and the abundance of microorganisms in the leachate from 17 municipal landfills across China. Generally, Lidocaine, Linear alkylbenzene sulfonate-C11, and Triclocarban, which are closely associated with human activities, exhibited a detection frequency of 100 % in the leachate. Driven by consumer demand, analgesic and antipyretic drugs have emerged as the most prominent PPCPs in leachate (accounting for 39.9 %). Notably, the Ibuprofen peaked at 56.3 μg/L. Regarding spatial distribution, the contamination of PPCPs in leachates from the eastern regions of China was significantly higher than that in other regions, owing to the level of economic development and demographic factors. Furthermore, the 16S rRNA results revealed significant differences in microbial communities among the leachates from different areas. Although the impact of PPCPs on microbial communities may not be as significant as that of environmental factors, most positive correlations between PPCPs and microorganisms indicate their potential role in providing nutrients and creating favorable conditions for microbial growth. Overall, this research offers new perspectives on the residual features of PPCPs and the microbial community structure in leachates from various regions in China.

Investigating spatiotemporal patterns and determinants of land resource misallocation in prefecture‐level China

AbstractThe misallocation of land resources is an important factor restricting the high‐quality development of China's economy. Based on the perspective of supply and demand matching, this study proposed a measurement method for the spatial misallocation of land resources and constructed two models for the testing and decomposition of factors affecting land resource spatial misallocation. We used this measurement method and these two models to explore the spatiotemporal characteristics and determinants of the spatial misallocation of land resources in China from 2000 to 2018 with the aim of providing policy recommendations for the correction of land resource misallocation in China and other developing countries. The results showed that the spatial misallocation of land resources in China showed an upward trend with evident spatial differentiation and the proportion of cities with high and severe misallocation increased. Industrial isomorphism and market misallocation are the main driving factors of land misallocation. Government misallocation and factor market abnormal development aggravate land resource misallocation. Extensive economic development and excessive factor agglomeration have a small effect on land resource spatial misallocation. Therefore, strengthening the land supply‐side reform, and implementing differentiated land allocation policies are effective pathways to control land resource misallocation in China.
