Al-MMCs are termed to be favourable lightweight component with improved functional stability. Al-MMCs were identified as very good alternative to conventional metals for locomotives and aerospace elements due to favourable properties compared to others. MMCs are produced by different techniques, among them a unique method of low cost processing by microwave technique is waving the researchers to think about it. Microwave processing leads to direct interaction of radiations at molecular level which benefits in obtaining high temperature rate. Because of its cost effectiveness and speed of processing, microwave method is increasingly being explored for processing particulate reinforced MMCs via powder metallurgy. The present work involves fabrication of Al-SiC MMCs by microwave sintering process with different percentage of reinforcement materials. The Metallographical characteristics of microwave processed material have been investigated. Metallographic investigation highlights the reinforcement materials that are spread out in the matrix in uniform way, this leads to betterment of the bonding of the matrix and the selected reinforcement material (SiC) which further leads to enhance the mechanical properties of processed materials.
