YOUTUBE VIDEOS AS A SOURCE OF INFORMATION ON INTRAMUSCULAR INJECTION APPLICATION WITH THE Z TECHNIQUE: CONTENT, QUALITY AND RELIABILITY ANALYSIS

YouTube videos about intramuscular injection with the Z technique were evaluated for content, quality and reliability. A search of YouTube was made on 13 November 2023 using the keywords of “Z technique” and “intramuscular injection”. 40 videos that fulfilled the inclusion criteria were assessed for usefulness using the Z Technique Intramuscular Injection Administration Checklist (ZIAC), reliability using the Quality Criteria for Consumer Health (DISCERN), and quality using the Global Quality Scale (GQS) scores. Most of the videos used in the study belonged to individual content producers. The videos were determined to be of medium quality, and reliability, but their usefulness was not at the desired level based on their ZIAC, DISCERN, and GQS scores (respectively; 16.92±2.72; 2.92±0.763; 3.03±0.77). Furthermore, the videos' usefulness (ZIAC), reliability (DISCERN), and quality (GQS) scores all showed a strong positive correlation. It was determined that the dorsogluteal region was preferred in 48.1% of the videos (n=13), and the region was determined correctly in 67.5% of the videos (n=27). To provide the most reliable information to healthcare professionals, particularly nurses, it is recommended that expert nurses and educators create qualified videos about the use of intramuscular injection with the Z technique and share them on YouTube.

Infection control nursing competency model for nurses in intensive care units: A Delphi study

Intensive care unit (ICU) nurses require advanced expertise and skills in critical care and need infection control nursing competency (ICNC). Given the lack of research on it, this study aimed to develop a model of ICU nurses' ICNC. A Delphi panel consisting of experts in intensive care nursing and infection control was organized to provide discerning and professional perspective on ICNC. Approved by the Institutional Review Board, a 3-round Delphi survey was conducted via email from July to December 2023. The content validity ratio and the coefficient of variation were calculated for panel responses. Among 17, 15 nurses (88.2%) participated and completed the surveys. About80% were female, and the panel had an average working experience of 14.2years specifically in theICUs or infection control departments at hospitals. After the initial round, a preliminary model was developed, consisting of 10 main components and 59 subelements. After eliminating 5 elements with content validity ratio values below 0.49 in the second survey, the final model, consisting of 10 main components and 54 subelements, was confirmed in the third survey. ICU nurses' ICNC can be understood based on this study's results, and further research can be designed to improve this competency.

A study to assess the knowledge and utilization regarding services available in the primary health Centre among women residing in a selected rural community area, Udupi

The study assessed the knowledge and utilization of primary health centre services among 100 women in a rural Udupi community using descriptive research designs and a structured self-administered knowledge questionnaire. The tool's reliability and validity were tested with nursing and medicine experts. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that 84% of women had poor knowledge scores about primary health centre services, with a mean of 17.62. 100% utilized these services and practiced a balanced diet to prevent nutritional disorders. Factors like number of children had no significant association with knowledge scores, indicating partial acceptance of hypothesis H1. The study found that most women lack knowledge about primary health center services, but use them and consume balanced diets to prevent nutritional disorders.

Development of an educational model with a management approach to improve the competency of diabetes educator nurses; utilizing King's conceptual framework and goal attainment theory

Background Education for diabetes patients is not managed well by diabetes nurse educators because the competency of diabetes nurse educators is low, and the number of diabetes nurse educators in hospitals is not commensurate with the number of diabetes patients, which is much larger. Methods This qualitative phenomenological research uses an exploratory design. Twenty nurse managers and forty staff nurses who participated in the focus group discussion (FGD) were selected using purposive sampling. Nine staff nurses who participated in in-depth interviews were selected using the snowball method. The results of the FGD exploration and in-depth interviews produced components for developing an educational model with a management approach. The development of this educational model uses an input, process, output, and outcome approach. The input uses King’s conceptual framework approach, the method uses the theory of goal attainment and management functions, the output is the competency of nurses to educate diabetes patients, and the outcome is the health literacy of diabetes patients. This educational model was reviewed by three experts: a nursing management expert, a diabetes mellitus expert, and a health literacy expert. Results The educational model for Diabetes nurse educators with a management approach consists of five stages: 1) Educational planning includes identifying educational targets, strategy formulation, and situation analysis. 2) Organizing nursing resources includes strengthening the role of nurses as diabetes educators. 3) Nursing staff includes intraprofessional collaboration and collaboration between nurses and patient families. 4) Direction includes nurses’ motivation for diabetes patients and respecting the culture and values of diabetes patients. 5) Control includes evaluating nurse education for diabetes patients. Conclusion This education model has five competencies, which are structured and systematic so that diabetes nurse educators have the competence to manage diabetes patient education: the personal system, interpersonal system, and social system influence nurse competency.

Implementation of the Expert Nursing Standard: Caregivers' Oral Health Knowledge.

The promotion of oral health in nursing care is essential for preventing oral diseases and maintaining health in elderly vulnerable populations. There is a need for standardized guidelines and education. The aim of this study was to collect data on the attitudes and hopes of caregivers regarding the implementation of the German Expert Nursing Standard "Promotion of Oral Health in Nursing" (GENS-POHN) and to evaluate their oral healthcare knowledge before implementation. A cross-sectional study was conducted in five different care settings in Germany. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data on the attitudes and hopes of nursing assistants regarding the GENS-POHN. Oral healthcare knowledge was evaluated before implementation. Most participants had a positive attitude towards the GENS-POHN and hoped that its implementation would lead to greater safety and competence in daily oral healthcare tasks. Few participants currently use screening or assessment instruments for oral care. There is a need for further education and training, as well as the development and implementation of standardized guidelines and tools for screening and assessment, in oral care. The GENS-POHN as an expert standard could be made accessible to an international audience by translating it into other respective national languages, thereby enhancing its usability for a wider range of users.

NANDA-I and NOC Linkages for Six Psychosocial Nursing Diagnoses: A Validation Study

The aim of this study was to validate the diagnostic content and the NANDA-I and NOC linkages for six psychosocial nursing diagnoses. This multicentre, descriptive, cross-sectional validation study followed Fehring’s model. Expert nurses in nursing methodology and standardised nursing languages in Spain participated, with expertise criteria based on academic level and clinical, teaching, and research experience in the fields of nursing methodology and standardised nursing languages. This study adhered to the STROBE guidelines for cross-sectional studies. Eighty-seven professionals participated in the diagnostic content validation phase, and 57 in the NANDA-I and NOC linkages validation phase. The content validity indices of the six diagnoses ranged from 0.74 to 0.84, all considered valid. All 84 proposed defining characteristics were valid, with 42 scoring ≥0.8. Thirty-two linkages between diagnoses and NOC outcomes were proposed, all valid, with mean scores between 0.73 and 0.98. Each diagnosis was linked to 5–6 NOC outcomes, comprising 26 main outcomes and 6 supplementary outcomes. Overall coverage rates for each diagnosis ranged from 68.42% to 100%. All linkages between defining characteristics and NOC outcome indicators were validated. The six selected psychosocial diagnoses, their defining characteristics, and the proposed linkages between diagnoses and outcomes have been validated. The validation of linkages between NOC indicators and nearly all major defining characteristics of these six psychosocial diagnoses will make it possible to enhance diagnostic accuracy and enable continuous assessment of the effects of nursing interventions on the clinical progression of these diagnoses.

Leased clinical faculty model: Bridging gaps in nursing education

In response to the critical Registered Nursing (RN) shortage, John Carroll University, a not-for-profit, private, faith-based university in the Midwest, has developed an academic-practice partnership to bolster its new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. This initiative addresses the challenge of limited clinical faculty. Central to this strategy is a “leased employee agreement” with healthcare partners, which allows the university to employ practicing RNs as part-time clinical instructors. Formulated in collaboration with healthcare Chief Nurse Executives (CNEs), this model enables the seamless integration of hospital-employed RNs into the academic framework as clinical faculty. This model streamlines the onboarding process and enriches student learning experiences by leveraging the practical expertise of active nurses. Initial feedback following its launch in August 2023 has been positive, with students and clinical faculty reporting high levels of satisfaction and quality educational experiences. This approach presents a viable strategy to mitigate faculty shortages in nursing education and underscores the importance of inventive academic-practice partnerships in adapting to the dynamic demands of healthcare training.

Augmenting intensive care unit nursing practice with generative AI: A formative study of diagnostic synergies using simulation-based clinical cases.

As generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools continue advancing, rigorous evaluations are needed to understand their capabilities relative to experienced clinicians and nurses. The aim of this study was to objectively compare the diagnostic accuracy and response formats of ICU nurses versus various GenAI models, with a qualitative interpretation of the quantitative results. This formative study utilized four written clinical scenarios representative of real ICU patient cases to simulate diagnostic challenges. The scenarios were developed by expert nurses and underwent validation against current literature. Seventy-four ICU nurses participated in a simulation-based assessment involving four written clinical scenarios. Simultaneously, we asked ChatGPT-4 and Claude-2.0 to provide initial assessments and treatment recommendations for the same scenarios. The responses from ChatGPT-4 and Claude-2.0 were then scored by certified ICU nurses for accuracy, completeness and response. Nurses consistently achieved higher diagnostic accuracy than AI across open-ended scenarios, though certain models matched or exceeded human performance on standardized cases. Reaction times also diverged substantially. Qualitative response format differences emerged such as concision versus verbosity. Variations in GenAI models system performance across cases highlighted generalizability challenges. While GenAI demonstrated valuable skills, experienced nurses outperformed in open-ended domains requiring holistic judgement. Continued development to strengthen generalized decision-making abilities is warranted before autonomous clinical integration. Response format interfaces should consider leveraging distinct strengths. Rigorous mixed methods research involving diverse stakeholders can help iteratively inform safe, beneficial human-GenAI partnerships centred on experience-guided care augmentation. This mixed-methods simulation study provides formative insights into optimizing collaborative models of GenAI and nursing knowledge to support patient assessment and decision-making in intensive care. The findings can help guide development of explainable GenAI decision support tailored for critical care environments. Patients or public were not involved in the design and implementation of the study or the analysis and interpretation of the data.

Development of a Critical Reflection Mentorship Program to Enhance Critical Thinking Among Novice Nurses.

The increasing complexity of care and the decrease in overall nursing experience pose a threat to patient safety and clinical outcomes in health care. Within the local environment, a critical need was identified to connect expert bedside nurses with novice nurses to support the development of critical thinking. This article describes the development and pilot evaluation of a critical reflection mentorship program, Beyond the Bedside. The program was developed and deployed in three inpatient units within an adult academic health center. Critical thinking was evaluated using the Nursing Critical Thinking in Clinical Practice Questionnaire (N-CT-4 Practice) pre- and postprogram implementation. Five nurses participated in the pre- and postevaluation, and the N-CT-4 Practice mean scores were significantly higher after program implementation. Education leaders should prioritize programs that support critical thinking among novice nurses, and the Beyond the Bedside program can be adapted for use in other health care settings. Collaboration between care teams and care experts in home care nursing: A qualitative case study Abstract: Background: As a result of demographic change and the associated ageing population, the number of people affected by multimorbidity is increasing, and with it the complexity of home care nursing. In a home care nursing service (Spitex), care teams work with employees of different levels of competence. For support in complex situations, they can seek help from nursing experts (PEX). Aim: The aim was to investigate the collaboration between the care teams and the PEX of a regional Spitex organization and to work out measures for optimization. The research question was: "How do the care teams of a regional Spitex organization experience the collaboration with the nursing experts?" Methods: A qualitative case study design with four sub-cases was used to describe in detail how collaboration with PEX is experienced. Four Focus group interviews were evaluated using content analysis and cross-case analysis. Results: The Cross-Case analysis reveals the categories for optimal collaboration: present, professionally versatile, relieving in coordination tasks, supportive in complex situations. The following categories are categorized as disruptive factors in collaboration: varying levels of commitment, collaboration low priority and confusing. Conclusions: The PEX are to be made better known through targeted information dissemination. Implications for practice include the importance of presence and mutual understanding of roles so that collaboration is experienced as added value.

Importance of key stakeholder communication in the implementation of an in-hospital digital medical translation application for heart surgery patients: a qualitative study

Abstract Background/Introduction The scientific and clinical communities are inundated with health applications designed for testing and/or implementation to support and enhance clinical practice. However, there is a deficiency in studies concentrating on vital factors such as stakeholder involvement to ensure the successful implementation of such applications. Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the experiences of key stakeholders involved in the process leading to the implementation of a digital medical translation tool designed for in-hospital use with heart surgery patients who speak minority languages. Methods In-depth interviews were conducted using a semi-structured interview guide through digital (i.e., Zoom) interviews in June 2023. The data collected was analyzed using NVivo software, following Braun and Clarke´s six-step thematic analysis process. Results Five stakeholders participated in the interviews, including representatives from the Regional Health Authorities Information Technology partner and the project leader, and representatives from the company responsible for the digital medical translation tool. All with major stakes in such an in-hospital application implementation process. Four main themes with corresponding quotations emerged from the analysis, pointing to the need for: i) Qualified stakeholders: Stakeholders who possessed the knowledge of "what to do and when" played a crucial role in the process. ii) Communication between stakeholders: Effective communication between stakeholders was deemed essential for optimizing the process at the required pace, with an emphasis on collaborative efforts by "working as partners to enhance services for minority-speaking patients". iii) Requirement specification for procurement: The importance of "detailed and clear quality requirements in the procurement process to select the best clinical translation tool", was highlighted. iv) Clinical practice foundation: "Expert nurses from the hospital setting and medical doctor from the company adjusted the translation tool" was pointed to as necessary to suit clinical practice needs. Conclusions Key stakeholders involved in the implementation of a medical translation tool for minority-speaking patients within a hospital setting pointed to four vital aspects for successfully implementing a digital medical translation tool in-hospital care. Effective communication among stakeholders was seen to inspire and improve the working process. Having qualified stakeholders was vital for ensuring quality requirements and establishing a solid clinical foundation during the application implementation.

Management from a multidisciplinary perspective of phlebitis related to peripheral venous catheter insertion: An international Delphi study.

To determine the consensus and importance of care practices related to the management of peripheral venous catheter (PVC)-related phlebitis in hospitalized patients through the views of experts from different disciplines. PVCs are commonly used in hospitals but are associated with complications such as phlebitis. Their management differs widely, and studies are heterogeneous. Delphi method. Four stages: problem area (with Web of Science bibliometric review in July 2022), panel members, two Delphi rounds and closing criteria. In the Delphi survey, experts answered an online questionnaire based on assessment, treatment and follow-up dimensions (September 2022-February 2023). Statistical analyses were conducted of frequencies, percentages, measures of central tendency and levels of dispersion (QD). A space for comments was created, and a thematic analysis conducted of them. Eighteen experts (nurses, doctors and pharmacists) participated in the Delphi rounds. Forty-five activities were identified: 19 in assessment, 15 in treatment and 11 in follow-up. A high consensus level (QD ≤ 0.6) was found in five activities (11.12%), moderate level (0.6 < QD < 1.0) in 19 (42.22%) and low level (QD > 1.0) in 21 (46.66%). Seven themes were determined (patient perspective, lack of consensus, low evidence-based practices, stage-based treatments, prevention activities, high variability in practice and specialist teams and interdisciplinary work). The importance of systematic assessment scales is highlighted together with consensus on signs and symptoms (pain, redness, inflammation, palpable cord and induration). Treatment according to severity and daily visual recording and monitoring are emphasized along with the need for patient participation and healthcare literacy. A high level of consensus was obtained in 11% of the activities, showing the large variability of criteria and interventions for phlebitis management. Highlighted needs include working in a team, the use of specialist teams and promoting evidence- and prevention-based activities. Toward a Medication Information Literacy Indicator System for Older Adults: A Delphi Study.

The safety of medication use among older adults is a growing concern, given the aging population. Despite widespread attention, the exploration of medication literacy in older adults, particularly from the perspective of information literacy, is in its nascent stages. This study utilized the existing literature to define medication information literacy (MIL) as a theoretical framework. A two-round Delphi survey was conducted to identify the essential components of a MIL indicator system for older adults. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was then used to assign weights to each indicator. The study observed relatively high response rates in both rounds of the questionnaire, which, along with expert authority coefficients (Cr) of 0.86 and 0.89, underscores the credibility and expertise of the panellists. Additionally, Kendall's coefficient of concordance (Kendall's W) ranging from 0.157 to 0.33 (p < 0.05) indicates a consensus among experts on the identified indicators. Utilizing the Delphi process, a MIL indicator system for older adults was developed, comprising five primary and 23 secondary indicators. These indicators were weighted, with medication information cognition and acquisition emerging as pivotal factors in enhancing medication literacy among older adults. This study developed a MIL indicator system tailored for older adults using the Delphi approach. The findings can inform healthcare professionals in providing customized medication guidance and assist policymakers in crafting policies to enhance medication safety among older adults. Patient and public engagement played a pivotal role in the development of our medication information literacy indicator system for older adults. Their involvement contributed to shaping research questions, facilitating study participation, and enriching evidence interpretation. Collaborations with experts in geriatric nursing, medicine, and public health, along with discussions with caregivers and individuals with lived experience, provided invaluable insights into medication management among older adults. Their input guided our research direction and ensured the relevance and comprehensiveness of our findings.

Enhancing triage accuracy: The influence of nursing education on risk prediction

AimThis study aimed to compare the performance in risk prediction of various outcomes between specially trained triage nurses and the Manchester Triage System (MTS). DesignProspective observational study. MethodsThe study was conducted from June 1st to December 31st, 2023, at the Emergency Department of Merano Hospital. Triage nurses underwent continuous training through dedicated courses and daily audits. We compared the risk stratification performed by expert nurses with that of MTS on various outcomes such as mortality, hospitalisation, and urgency defined by the physicians. Comparisons were made using the Areas Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (AUROC). ResultsThe agreement in code classification between the MTS and the expert nurse was very low. The AUROC curve analysis showed that the expert nurse outperformed the MTS in all outcomes. The triage nurse’s experience led to statistically significant better stratification in admission rates, ICU admissions, and all outcomes based on the physician’s assessment. ConclusionsThe continuous training of nurses enables them to achieve better risk prediction compared to standardized triage systems like MTS, emphasizing the utility and necessity of implementing continuous training pathways for these highly specialised personnel.

Self‐appropriation in nurse engagement: Facilitating the development of expert nurses using Benner and Lonergan

AbstractExpert nurses, as described by the work of Patricia Benner, are at the peak of clinical nursing practice and vitally important in ensuring the best possible patient care and clinical outcomes. The development of Benner's theory and its relationship with the Dreyfus model of skill acquisition provides context for understanding the progression necessary for expert development. Contemporary healthcare challenges present implications to the development of advancing levels of nursing practice. Engagement has been identified as critical to achieving expert practice. I propose the incorporation of the philosophical framework of self‐appropriation from Benard Lonergan as a strategy to develop internal engagement in nurses to facilitate expert practice. I outline the synergy between Benner's theory and the work of Lonergan, which provide overlap and opportunity to overcome barriers to developing expert nursing practice. In the challenging climate of healthcare, there is an obligation to promote engagement and facilitate expert nurse development, necessary for patient outcomes as well as clinical role models, preceptors, and leaders to guide future nurses.

Prior knowledge of students: essential aspects that a nursing expert professor identifies, interprets, and organizes to foster learning.

To analyze the essential aspects that the nursing expert professor identifies, interprets, and organizes during classroom dialogic processes with students to foster their learning. Qualitative study, part of a multicenter study, which used ethnography of communication specifically from a micro-ethnographic approach. An expert professor from the Faculty of Nursing at a public university in Medellín, Colombia, was selected for the study. The fieldwork was done in three stages: 1:non-participant observations in two in-person classes of the Morphophysiology course recorded on video from two different perspectives (one focusing on the professor and another on the students); 2:think-aloud interviews with the professor and five students (three from the first class and two from the second) who spontaneously started more than two communicative interactions with the professor during the classes; and 3:parallel transcriptions, organized in didactic sequences (videos). The analysis was supported by the unit Student-Professor (identification-evaluation-answer) Student [S-P(i-e-a)S'], and by continuous comparisons of the data. Four categories were identified: 1: Identification of essential aspects: importance of prior knowledge, 2: Interpretation: connection between essential aspects and students' mental processes, 3: Organization of the answer: connection between prior knowledge and new knowledge, and: 4: Synchronization with the learning needs of the students, which were grouped in a meta-category: Prior knowledge of the students: essential aspects for learning. Students' experiential prior knowledge constitutes the essential aspects identified, interpreted, and organized by the expert professor to achieve significant learning.

Akademisiertes Pflegefachpersonal aus Drittstaaten: Professionelles Selbstverständnis vs. berufliche Realität in Deutschland? Eine qualitative Studie am Beispiel migrierter philippinischer Pflegefachpersonen

BackgroundThe recruitment of internationally educated nurses is gaining relevance in Germany in response to the growing shortage of nurses. Differences in nursing qualifications and practices between the country of origin and of destination can irritate the professional self-concept and hinder professional integration. PurposeThe study objective was to examine the development of the professional scope of action to unfold the professional self-concept of academically qualified nurses in Germany. MethodsIn accordance with the episodic interview, eight guided interviews were conducted with Filipino nurses who had migrated to Germany. Data was analyzed by thematic coding. ResultsThe analysis shows two dimensions that impact the professional scope of action: perceived systemic constraints in the transition process and perspectives on professional development. The recruitment and recognition process is associated with high financial and time-related uncertainties and professional devaluation experiences. Migrant nurses experience both a loss of competence and a sense of foreignness in their nursing role in Germany. In order to regain professional scope of action, strategies of continuing education and focusing on more technology-intensive nursing care areas are pursued; only a minority can adapt their self-concept to the circumstances of nursing practice in Germany. DiscussionThe study results demonstrate the importance of paying attention to both the competence profile and the professional self-concept of academically educated nurses in order to offer migrant nurses professional career prospects in Germany. Especially in long-term care, this has proved to be a structural problem. ConclusionTo provide an attractive destination for international academically qualified nursing professionals in Germany, the ratification of international standards, the provision of transparent and independent information, utilization of existing nursing expertise as well as the establishment of career opportunities are recommended.

Assessment of Nurse’s Knowledge Regarding Diabetic Ketoacidosis in Laâyoune City, Morocco

Background: Diabetic ketoacidosis represents a life-threatening complication of diabetes, standing as the foremost cause of mortality associated with the condition. The proficient management of patients suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis hinges upon the expertise and proficiency of nurses, who play a pivotal role in the comprehensive care and treatment of these individuals. Aim: The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge of nurses in the Department of Medicine and Intensive Care Unit at Moulay El Hassan Ben El Mehdi Hospital concerning the biological and clinical parameters, as well as the management protocols, for patients diagnosed with DKA. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to nurses working in both the Department of Medicine (n=8) and the Intensive Care Unit (n=10) at Moulay El Hassan Ben El Mehdi Hospital in Laâyoune. The questionnaire included variables covering demographic characteristics, clinical information, and biological parameters. Results: The majority of nurses (88.8%) demonstrated adequate knowledge regarding the definition of DKA, with most nurses in both departments displaying familiarity with the biological and clinical manifestations of the condition. In terms of management practices, all nurses reported utilizing saline solution or glucose serum based on the patient's blood glucose levels. Conclusion: The study suggests the implementation of standardized educational programs within intensive care units to enhance nurse staffing, improve the level of patient care, and elevate the quality of care delivered to this patient demographic.

Content of a wound care mobile application for newly graduated nurses: an e-Delphi study

BackgroundWound care represents a considerable challenge, especially for newly graduated nurses. The development of a mobile application is envisioned to improve knowledge transfer and facilitate evidence-based practice. The aim of this study was to establish expert consensus on the initial content of the algorithm for a wound care mobile application for newly graduated nurses.MethodsExperts participated in online surveys conducted in three rounds. Twenty-nine expert wound care nurses participated in the first round, and 25 participated in the two subsequent rounds. The first round, which was qualitative, included a mandatory open-ended question solicitating suggestions for items to be included in the mobile application. The responses underwent content analysis. The subsequent two rounds were quantitative, with experts being asked to rate their level of agreement on a 5-point Likert scale. These rounds were carried out iteratively, allowing experts to review their responses and see anonymized results from the previous round. We calculated the weighted kappa to determine the individual stability of responses within-subjects between the quantitative rounds. A consensus threshold of 80% was predetermined.ResultsIn total, 80 items were divided into 6 categories based on the results of the first round. Of these, 75 (93.75%) achieved consensus during the two subsequent rounds. Notably, 5 items (6.25%) did not reach consensus. The items with the highest consensus related to the signs and symptoms of infection, pressure ulcers, and the essential elements for healing. Conversely, items such as toe pressure measurement, wounds around drains, and frostbite failed to achieve consensus.ConclusionsThe results of this study will inform the development of the initial content of the algorithm for a wound care mobile application. Expert participation and their insights on infection-related matters have the potential to support evidence-based wound care practice. Ongoing debates surround items without consensus. Finally, this study establishes expert wound care nurses’ perspectives on the competencies anticipated from newly graduated nurses.
