Simple synthesis of selenium-containing 1,2-dihydro-2-oxonicotinates

. Ethoxymethylene compounds are quite widely used in heterocyclic synthesis as three-carbon 1,3-dielectrophilic synthons [7, 8], but only isolated examples are known of their use in preparing selenium-containing compounds [9-11]. As has been noted [9], in contrast to their sulfur-containing analogs, the preparation of Se-containing derivatives in an analytically pure state can be difficult in such reactions.

Synthesis of nitrogen‐containing heterocycles 10. Reaction of 2‐amino‐1h‐imidazole derivatives with ethoxymethylene compounds

AbstractThe direct annelation reaction of 4‐substituted 2‐amino‐l‐benzylideneamino‐1H‐imidazoles (1) or 2‐amino‐1‐isopropylideneamino‐1H‐imidazole (8) with ethoxymethylenemalononitrile (I) gave successfully bicyclic imidazo[1,2‐a]pyrimidine compounds 2 and 9 in high yields. The reactions of other ethoxymethylene compounds of lower reactivity, i.e., ethyl ethoxymethylenecyanoacetate (II) and diethyl ethoxymethylenemalonate (III), with 2‐amino‐1H‐imidazoles under similar conditions afforded the corresponding enamines 3, 4 and 10, which, upon heating in the presence of an acid or a base, could readily be cyclized to form imidazopyrimidines except for 1‐isopropylideneamino compound 10. In general, the 3‐phenyl compounds (3b and 4b) did not cyclize to the type 2 compound resulting in a full recovery of the starting enamines.

Abstract Reactions of 1-[bis(alkylthio)methyleneamino]-2-methylpyridinium iodides with activated ethoxymethylene compounds in the presence of alkali gave the corresponding 1-[bis(alkylthio)methyleneamino]-2-allylidene-1,2-dihydropyridines in considerable yields, and their thermolyses in benzene afforded 2-alkylthio-3-vinylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridine derivatives.

AbstractThe reaction of 6‐aminoeoumarin with some ethoxymethylene compounds and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate led to condensation products which on thermal cyclizations afford new derivatives of 3H‐pyrano[3,2‐f]quinoline (IIa‐IIc).

Reaction of 1-Alkylpyridinium Salts Carrying a Methyl or an Amino Group at the 2- or 4-Position with Activated Ethoxymethylene Compounds in the Presence of Alkali

Abstract It was found that various 1-alkyl-2-(1a–d) and 4-picolinium salts(5a,b) react smoothly with ethoxymethylene compounds(2a–c) activated by electron-withdrawing substituents in the presence of alkali to give the corresponding 1-alkyl-2-(4a–i) and 4-allylidenedihydropyridine derivatives(6a–d) in fairly good yields. 1-Methyl-2-(vinylimino)dihydropyridine(8a) and pyrimidine(8b) were obtained by the reactions of 1-methyl-2-aminopyridinium(7a) and pyrimidinium iodide (7b) with ethyl ethoxymethylenecyanoacetate(2a) under similar reaction conditions.
