This study aims to determine the level of students' reading speed. The samples in this study were Class A and C students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Riau. The data analysis technique is a test technique. Quantitative data analysis techniques were used to analyze the results of the reading speed reading test in Arabic Malay. The data analysis procedure was to measure students' reading speed in reading Malay Arabic texts. Based on the research results, it was found that the reading speed of 2020 A students was 52.58 kpm and that of 2020 C students was 52.65 kpm. This shows that reading speed is still below the standard for student reading speed in the Malay Arabic reading form, which is 200 kpm. Thus, it can be concluded that students tend to read slowly to reduce reading errors, so that their reading speed is below standard.

IMPLEMENTATION OF EDUCATIONAL VALUES IN BOARDING DARUL FALAH AL WASHILAH MEDALEM SENORI TUBAN

The purpose of this study is to describe how the values of the pesantren are instilled in the Darul Falah Al-Washilah Islamic Boarding School. This study uses a qualitative method. The research results show that; 1) The values of Islamic boarding school education include sincere values, honest values, hard work values, responsibility values and tolerance values which are used as the basis for the behavior of all activities in Islamic boarding schools; 2) Integrating the values of Islamic boarding schools in subjects in schools and Islamic boarding schools; 3) Internalization of the values of Islamic boarding school education which are instilled in all pesantren residents and school members. The strategy used is through habituation and integrated training through extra-curricular activities and the creation of a culture of character in Islamic boarding schools. Moderate value planting is implemented in several methods, namely; first, diniyyah education, namely the recitation of the yellow books taught by several ustadz. Second, joint takror, namely repeating the subject matter that has been taught by the kiai or ustadz by asking one of the students to read word for word, then the other listens and corrects if there are errors in reading.

Effect of interfacial nitrogen defects on tunnel magnetoresistance in an Fe/MgO/Fe magnetic tunnel junction

We investigated the effect of interfacial nitrogen (N) defects on tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) in Fe/MgO/Fe magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) which are the basic building block of magnetoresistive random access memory. The N atoms are predicted to originate from the SiN covering for antioxidation. It was found from first-principles quantum-transport calculations that the N defects significantly worsen the TMR. This is particularly evident in the MTJ models with an additional N atom at the MgO/Fe interface, because a conduction channel appears in the antiparallel magnetization configuration due to the N defects. The TMR is directly related to the read error rate of data and the scaling of the memory cell. Therefore, the prevention of nitrogen contamination during the manufacturing processes is a prerequisite for maintaining high performance.

 Signal movement if on board is very important to note. Because it is not uncommon for ship wrecks to occur, the officer of the ship mistakes the cue or reads the cue. This might also cause the ship's officers to not understand and understand the meaning of the sign on the ship itself.Because it needed the right action to prevent and overcome this. The response is in the form of training and counseling or also in the form of providing insights in order to reduce errors in reading or giving gestures on the ship.
 The research will be carried out by the author carried out for approximately 1 year. Furthermore, in a literature review and frame of mind, the author will explain about the definition, Collision Regulations 1972, and actions in the installation or reading of gestures that need to be done by officers. Primary data obtained from this study were sourced from interviews conducted directly. Then the secondary data obtained from books read by the author and teaching and learning activities in class related to the object of writing. While in the framework of the author's writings put forward the writing systematic used in this Applied Scientific Work.

Students’ Error Analysis in Solving Word Problems in Exponential Number Topic Based on Newman’s Error Analysis (NEA) Theory

In mathematics, students usually experience errors in solving word problems. Previous studies found that students’ skills in solving word problems were not good enough. Therefore, exploring students’ errors to be a consideration in designing efforts to minimize these errors is necessary. This study aimed to describe the errors made by students in solving word problems in exponential numbers based on Newman’s theory. Based on Newman’s view, there are five stages of student error: reading errors, comprehension errors, transformation errors, process skill errors, and encoding errors. This research is a descriptive qualitative study involving grade nine with two students in each category, namely high, medium, and low levels of mathematics ability. The data collection was conducted through documentation and interview. The study’s data analysis involved data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Based on the data analysis, it could be concluded that: 1) students with high mathematical ability still committed errors in the transformation, process skill, and encoding stages, 2) students with moderate mathematical ability were still experiencing errors in the transformation, process skill, and encoding stages, but one of the subjects also made errors at the reading and comprehension stages, 3) students with the low mathematical ability experienced quite a lot of errors in solving the word problems, namely at the comprehension, transformation, process skill, and encoding stages but one of the subjects also made errors at the reading stage. These findings could be used as consideration in planning teaching and learning activities to minimize the occurrence of similar errors in students with various levels of mathematical ability.

Development of a web-based single-phase load monitoring and auditing system

<span lang="EN-US">In a developing nation like Nigeria, the conventional load monitoring and billing system has proved to be tedious, time-consuming, expensive, and prone to human error over the years. Therefore, this creates the need for an efficient system that can assist the Utility to monitor the energy consumption trend of the customers remotely. This work developed a web-based single-phase load monitoring and auditing system using NodeMCU (ESP8266) microcontroller, PZEM-004T sensor, and liquid crystal display (LCD) module for the hardware unit and Blynk internet of things (IoT) platform for the software unit. The system design was implemented around the ESP8266 microcontroller with relevant design models, and standard power and energy equations programmed into the microcontroller in the Arduino integrated development environment. The developed system was load tested to examine its performance and determine its reading error. The hardware and software units of the system operated satisfactorily when tested. The reading accuracy for current and voltage measured by the device were ±0.2% and ±0.4%, respectively, giving a reading error of ±0.8% for power measurement. The developed system is suitable for residential, commercial, and similar applications where the energy usage trend of some small loads is required for management purposes.</span>

Exact Bayesian inference for the detection of graft-mobile transcripts from sequencing data.

The long-distance transport of messenger RNAs (mRNAs) has been shown to be important for several developmental processes in plants. A popular method for identifying travelling mRNAs is to perform RNA-Seq on grafted plants. This approach depends on the ability to correctly assign sequenced mRNAs to the genetic background from which they originated. The assignment is often based on the identification of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) between otherwise identical sequences. A major challenge is therefore to distinguish SNPs from sequencing errors. Here, we show how Bayes factors can be computed analytically using RNA-Seq data over all the SNPs in an mRNA. We used simulations to evaluate the performance of the proposed framework and demonstrate how Bayes factors accurately identify graft-mobile transcripts. The comparison with other detection methods using simulated data shows how not taking the variability in read depth, error rates and multiple SNPs per transcript into account can lead to incorrect classification. Our results suggest experimental design criteria for successful graft-mobile mRNA detection and show the pitfalls of filtering for sequencing errors or focusing on single SNPs within an mRNA.

Implementation of Lora for Controlling and Monitoring Broiler Cage Temperature

A system for controlling the temperature of broilers cages has been made with LoRa data communication. The purpose of this research is to make a prototype of a control system for monitoring and controlling the temperature of broiler controlled by a microcontroller with LoRa communication. The results of measuring system performance are indicated by the DHT11 sensor reading error occurs when the temperature is 36,37 °C and 38 °C by 1.03%. The device that can connect to LoRa is 320 m in Line of Sight (LOS) conditions and 52 m in Non Line of Sight (NLOS) conditions. Overall the tool can function well. Suggestions for further research, an Internet of Things (IoT) based monitoring system can be added using a mobile application.

Rapid phylogenetic analysis using open reading frame content patterns acquired by Oxford nanopore sequencing.

Phylogenetic analysis based on core genome single nucleotide polymorphisms (cgSNPs) using whole-genome sequencing (WGS) is increasingly used in epidemiological investigations of bacteria. The approach, however, is both resource intensive and time-consuming. Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) sequencing is capable of real-time data analysis but the high error rate hampers its application in cgSNP-based phylogenetic analysis. Here, we developed a cgSNP-independent phylogenetic analysis method using ONT read assemblies by focusing on open reading frame (ORF) content patterns. WGS data of 66 Enterobacter hormaechei strains acquired by both ONT and Illumina sequencing and 162 strains obtained from NCBI database were converted to binary sequences based on the presence or absence of ORFs using BLASTn. Phylogenetic trees calculated from binary sequences (ORF trees) were compared with cgSNP trees derived from Illumina sequences. Clusters of closely related strains in the cgSNP trees formed comparable clusters in the ORF trees built with binary sequences, and the tree topologies between them were similar based on Fowlkes-Mallows index. The ORF-based phylogenetic analysis using ONT sequencing may be useful in epidemiological investigations and offer advantages over the cgSNP-based approach. Conversion of assembled WGS data to binary sequences based on the presence or absence of ORFs circumvents read error concerns with ONT sequencing. Since ONT sequencing generates data in real time and does not require major investment, this ORF-based phylogenetic analysis method has the potential to enable phylogenetic and epidemiological analysis at the point of care.

Employing Robotics in Education to Enhance Cognitive Development—A Pilot Study

(1) Background: Info-communication technology (ICT) offers opportunities for innovations in teaching and learning methods, bringing significant changes in the world of pedagogy. The field called educational robotics is both a motivational basis for teaching and learning coding and programming, and a tool for linking STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. Moreover, it might contribute to the development of cognitive and social skills. The aim of the present paper is to report on a pilot study at the intersection of neurodiversity and educational robotics. (2) Methods: The pilot study was part of a larger project, namely Robotics for the Inclusive Development of Atypical and Typical Children (RIDE). A pre-test/post-test design was used to examine the development of different cognitive processes in sixth-grade students, such as computational thinking (CT), spatial relations, visuo-constructive ability, attention, and reading ability, in relation to a robotics development program employed in the classroom. (3) Results: The results suggest a general improvement on nearly all measures. Specifically, participants’ performance improved significantly from pre-test to post-test in the visuo-constructive abilities test, they made significantly fewer reading errors, and improved substantially in their reading comprehension. (4) Conclusions: The RIDE project’s curriculum development has resulted in a highly innovative, sustainable, and inclusive package of pedagogical methods, and the pilot research shows promising results regarding the implementation of robotics in education.

Correction and pointer reading recognition of circular pointer meter

For the meter images collected in an actual environment, there is the possibility of tilt and rotation. This paper presents a method to calibrate the circular pointer-type meter based on YOLOv5s network. The convolutional neural network framework is used to detect the scale value in the meter panel as the key point. The position information and value information of the detected scale value are used to fit the elliptic equation of the position of the scale value with the least square method for perspective correction and rotation correction of the meter, and the corrected meter image is used to obtain the meter pointer reading. This paper proposes the weighted angle method to read the meter reading. After multiple transformations, the accumulated error of the meter image is eliminated. Finally, comparing the pointer detection method of this paper with the traditional pointer detection method, the error of this detection method is smaller; comparing the meter reading results before and after correction, the meter reading error after correction is 50% less than before correction. Comparing the method in this paper with other mainstream methods, it proves the effectiveness of the our method.

Analysis of Student Errors in Solving HOTS-Type Sequence and Series Problems Based on Newman Error Analysis

This study aims to analyze student errors in solving HOTS-type math problems using Newman's stages on sequence and series material. This research is qualitative. The subject of this research is class X DPIB 1 SMK "SORE" Tulungagung. Data collection techniques used are test questions and interviews. The data analysis technique was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study showed that of the 29 students who were given the HOTS test questions, 3 students made the most mistakes based on the Newman stage. The three students who later became the research subjects made errors at each of Newman's stages, is reading errors (T1), problem comprehension errors (T2), transformation errors (T3), process skill errors (T4), and encoding errors (T5). Thus, it can be concluded that there are still many students in class X DPIB 1 SMK "SORE" Tulungagung who make mistakes in solving HOTS-type sequences and series questions. The implementations of this research may not have been carried out optimally. It is hoped will prepare everything as well as possible so that this research can run better.

Errors of Class VIII Junior High School Students in Solving Mathematical Communication Problems Based on the Newman Procedure

Mathematical communication skills are the main capital in solving math problems. Mathematical communication skills help students in conveying ideas or solutions to a mathematical problem in the form of oral, written, and picture. The research objective is to identify student errors in solving mathematical communication problems. The type of research is descriptive qualitative so that the researcher is the main instrument. Technical data analysis in this research is descriptive qualitative data analysis technique of Miles and Huberman model with stages of data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing and verification. The data reduction stage aims to select, focus, discard unnecessary data and simplify raw data from the results of student error analysis. The research subjects were students of class VIII A SMP Negeri 2 Tanjung Palas Utara. The research showed that the students did not make reading errors but made mistakes in understanding, transforming, processing skill, and solving mathematical communication problems.

More Errors, Better Results? The Relationship Among High-Stakes Test Achievement, Reading Error Types, and Reading Fluency in Different Text Types

Although the relationship between reading fluency and high-stakes test achievement is well known, studies were conducted in similar contexts. This correlational study aimed to investigate the relationship between reading error types (insertions, omissions, mispronunciations, and total) and reading fluency (rate, accuracy, and prosody) in narrative and informative text and scores and percentiles in high school placement test (LGS). Seventy-seven eighth graders were selected from three different schools from low–socioeconomic status districts. Simple linear regression and partial and Pearson correlations were performed. The results showed that reading error types and reading fluency are significant predictors of LGS. Informative text predicted more variance than narrative text. Interestingly, as omissions in informative text increase, the achievement in LGS increases.

Effect of Colour Usage and Dialogue Reading Practices in Solving the Visual and Auditory Perception Problems of Students with Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability in reading. It is the most prevalent learning disability. This study aims to reveal the effect of the use of colours, peer assessment and reading dialogues on the education of students with dyslexia. The study uses a technical collaborative action research method. Two male students diagnosed with dyslexia and studying in the second year of primary school were participants in the study. The study lasted for 12 weeks following the research plan. The students were required to read the chosen tales in Aesop’s Tales aloud. After reading the stories, the students also read selected dialogues in the elementary school course books determined by the Ministry of National Education. Two letters by which the students got confused were marked in two different colours in the first text. The colouring gradually reduced in the new text. There was no colouring in the last text. Results show that the use of colours was effective in reducing the confusion of letters. The students corrected their mistakes mutually through the peer assessment method. The students liked the reading activity and made fewer reading errors compared to other texts.

Taḥlīl al-Akhtā’ al-Naḥwiyyah fī Qirā’ah al-Nuṣūṣ al-‘Arabiyyah litilmīḋāt bi al-Ma’had

This study aimed to identify and explain the types of errors in reading Arabic text that the fourth-grade students of KMI studied at Pondok Modern Arrisalah Ponorogo. This research is qualitative with a case study model. The research data is in the form of errors in reading Arabic text. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation and documentation. At the same time, the data analysis was carried out by identifying Arabic text reading errors, grouping Arabic text reading errors, and analyzing Arabic text reading errors. The study's results stated that reading errors in Arabic text were grouped into grammatical, morphological, and phonological errors. The mistakes in reading Arabic texts amounted to 29 errors; 13 in the form of Arabic grammatical errors, 13 in the form of Arabic morphological errors, and 3 in the form of Arabic phonological errors. It was carried out to minimize the mistakes in reading Arabic text in class IV KMI at Pondok Modern Arrisalah Ponorogo; the teacher provides Arabic grammar learning enrichment consistently, repeats learning, and chooses a more appropriate Arabic learning method.

VeChat: correcting errors in long reads using variation graphs

Error correction is the canonical first step in long-read sequencing data analysis. Current self-correction methods, however, are affected by consensus sequence induced biases that mask true variants in haplotypes of lower frequency showing in mixed samples. Unlike consensus sequence templates, graph-based reference systems are not affected by such biases, so do not mistakenly mask true variants as errors. We present VeChat, as an approach to implement this idea: VeChat is based on variation graphs, as a popular type of data structure for pangenome reference systems. Extensive benchmarking experiments demonstrate that long reads corrected by VeChat contain 4 to 15 (Pacific Biosciences) and 1 to 10 times (Oxford Nanopore Technologies) less errors than when being corrected by state of the art approaches. Further, using VeChat prior to long-read assembly significantly improves the haplotype awareness of the assemblies. VeChat is an easy-to-use open-source tool and publicly available at https://github.com/HaploKit/vechat.

Analisis Kesalahan Mahasiswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Geometri Analitik Materi Persamaan Garis berdasarkan Teori Newman

Geometry is an axiomatic system and a collection of generalizations, models, and evidence about the forms of objects, planes, and space. Geometry is a branch of mathematics and is very important for students in mathematics education study programs. However, student learning outcomes that do not meet expectations cause problems. The problem is the low grades of students in the second semester based on the exam results. It happens because of the weak mastery of the material, and students still need help solving math problems. This study aimed to determine the types of student errors in solving geometry problems in line equations. The results of this study are that there are reading errors, that there are students who find it difficult to identify the questions, do not know what is known and are asked in the questions; misunderstand the problem (comprehension), that the student is not able to understand the information on the question; transformation errors, that students cannot convert information into correct mathematical sentences; process skills, that students not being able to apply the calculation steps correctly and not being thorough in solving problems; and writing errors (encoding), that students write the incorrect conclusions. This type of research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach.

Examining the Reading Comprehension Status of Poor Readers of Turkish Texts and Mathematical Problems

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to reveal the poor readers' reading comprehension of texts and mathematical problems. Design/Methodology/Approach: The exploratory sequential design of the mixed method was used in the study. In order to determine the sample of the study, homogeneous sampling technique was used within the framework of purposive sampling method. The data of the study was collected in two stages; in the first stage, the reading comprehension test and the problem-solving test were applied to the students to identify the poor readers. In the second stage, semi-structured interviews were conducted with poor readers. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed with a descriptive point of view. Findings According to the findings of the study, it was determined that poor readers made reading errors by misreading, skipping letter syllable, adding syllable letter, repeating part of the word, and reversing the word. In the reading comprehension process, it was seen that poor readers understood simple comprehension questions better than deep comprehension questions. It has been determined that poor readers have difficulties in all the problem-solving steps of the routine problem-solving process, especially in the steps of understanding the problem and planning. it was seen that poor readers could not write what was given and requested to facilitate the understanding of the problem and could not express the problem in figure. It was concluded that poor readers had more difficulties in solving the initial unknown problems in routine problems, and they could not solve non-routine problems at all. Highlights: In the light of all these findings, the researchers concluded that increasing the students' reading comprehension would increase their problem-solving success.
