Does digital technology promote the sustainable development of the marine equipment manufacturing industry in China?

Along with the rapid development of information and communication technology, the digital economy has affected all industries and digital trade has become the main way of international trade. This paper adopts an entropy weight method to measure the sustainable development of the Marine Equipment Manufacturing Industry (MEMI), developing an econometric model with the digital trade as a mediating effect to investigate how digital technology promotes the sustainable development of MEMI. After reviewing the sustainable development performance of 11 coastal provinces in China from 2006 to 2016, this paper reveals their regional heterogeneity and shows that digital technology has greatly promoted the sustainable development of China's MEMI. Digital technology has a positive impact on China's MEMI and Digital trade plays a part in the mediating effect. China's MEMI lacks high-end professional and technical personnel in general, but the application of digital technology is unbalanced and inadequate across regions, which is grouped into three echelons. Digital technology is fully developed in the first and second echelon, and digital trade has an obvious mediating effect in the first echelon. In the third echelon, digital technology is applied slowly and the digital trade has produced a masking effect. In light of the position of MEMI in the view of the value chain, the regional authorities should adopt proper policies according to their conditions.

Research on the Upgrading Path of Regional Equipment Manufacturing Industry

Constructing the upgrading path of regional equipment manufacturing industry based on innovation network is of great significance for solving the transformation and upgrading problems of regional equipment manufacturing industry in China, further catching up with the development level of equipment manufacturing industry in developed countries, and alleviating the regional gap. Based on literature analysis and industrial upgrading theory, this paper puts forward the basic principles and general ideas of upgrading path design of regional equipment manufacturing industry, focusing on designing industrial upgrading path based on key common technologies, industrial upgrading path based on industrial chain optimization and industrial upgrading path based on innovation platform, and finally puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.

Barriers for green supplier development programs in manufacturing industry

Green supplier development (GSD) has emerged as an important green supply chain management activity since the supplier environmental performance is the overall greatest contributor to environmental issues in manufacturing industry. In order to successfully implement GSD, manufacturing firms should seek to identify barriers and remove them in the initial stages of green supplier development programs (GSDPs). These barriers do not only affect the GSDPs but also influence each other. Their relationship and their role in the implementation of GSDPs require additional investigation. In this article, GSD barriers are identified for the manufacturing industry. A hybrid methodology is developed involving Grey-DEMATEL and Grey-ISM to identify their relationships and roles in the implementation of GSDPs under uncertainty. Empirical data from the equipment manufacturing industry in China are utilized to gain insights into the GSD barriers phenomena. Findings using Grey-MICMAC analysis imply that four barriers have been identified as weak linkage variables. The results obtained from Grey-ISM analysis show that manufacturing firms first and foremost need the support of government regulations externally and the top management commitment internally to effectively implement GSDPs in the manufacturing industry in China. Implications and directions for further studies are identified based on the exploratory findings.

Research on the Correlation between China’s Juglar Cycle and Stock Price Fluctuation Based on Singular Spectrum Analysis

The judgment of the new round of the global Juglar cycle has been recognized internationally, and there are indications that China is in the early stage of the new round of the Juglar cycle. Based on monthly data from January 2006 to December 2018, this paper studies the correlation between the Juglar cycle and the stock price fluctuation cycle of equipment manufacturing industry in China. Firstly, according to the characteristics of the Juglar cycle and the stock price fluctuation cycle of equipment manufacturing industry, 9 indicators are respectively selected from macro level, industry level and micro level to construct the comprehensive index of the Juglar cycle, and 9 representative secondary industry stock price indexes in the Shenyin Wanguo industry classification are compiled into the comprehensive index of the equipment manufacturing stock price fluctuation cycle. Secondly, the entropy method is used to calculate the scores of the two periods. Then, periodic characteristics and periodic fluctuation relations are studied by using the singular spectrum analysis method from the perspective of the combination of time and frequency domains. It is found that the first and second decomposition sequences of the Juglar cycle are periodic items, and the first, second, third, fourth, and eleventh decomposition sequences of the equipment manufacturing stock price fluctuation cycle are periodic items, and by means of the diagonal averaging, the periodic sequence of the Juglar cycle and the equipment manufacturing stock price fluctuation cycle are obtained; then, according to the periodic sequence of the Juglar cycle and the equipment manufacturing stock price fluctuation cycle, the overall correlation coefficient of these two periods is 0.6352, which indicates that there is a strong correlation between the two cycles; moreover, after combining the two periodic fluctuation graphs, it is found that the stock price fluctuation cycle of equipment manufacturing industry is ahead of the Juglar cycle for about 3-6 months, which indicates that the stock price fluctuation of China’s equipment manufacturing industry can reflect the future trend of the Juglar cycle to a certain extent, showing that the stock market is a barometer of macro economy. Finally, the singular spectrum analysis and autoregressive analysis methods are combined to construct the prediction model. It is found that the prediction error of the model is small and the effect is good in the next 12 months. The research findings in this paper confirm the close relationship between China’s economic cycle and stock market volatility, which can provide important reference for investors to optimize investment strategies and government departments to formulate macro-control policies.

A Model of Aircraft Support Concept Evaluation Based on DEA and PCA

Abstract With the vigorous development of equipment manufacturing industry in China, higher requirements to the equipment supportability are put forward. How to evaluate the supportability of equipments (especially the aviation equipment-aircraft) objectively and correctly is the problem to be solved in the development of aviation equipments construction, demonstration and battle application. Aimed at the needs of the supportability analysis of complex equipment systems-aircraft, a model of aircraft support concept evaluation based on DEA (data envelopment analysis) and PCA (principal component analysis) is proposed. The model is used to evaluate a certain aircraft support concept. The process and the results of evaluation show that proposed model is feasible and effective. The model is suitable for advanced aircraft support concept evaluation. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed model is verified by the analysis of the evaluation results. This method is applicable to the evaluation of aircraft support concepts.

The Present Situation and Prospect of Marine Manufacturing in China

Marine engineering equipment manufacturing is one of the most important industries in marine economy, which is listed as the marine strategic emerging industry. After the self-reliance development stage and the introduction of international standards and foreign technology, it is facing challenges to dedicate itself to international market competition. This article reviewed the development of marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry in China, analyzed the international competition situation and discussed the prospects. It is concluded that, marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry of China was undergoing transformation and upgrading stage with the trend towards deep water, large scale and automation in the world, strategies and actions were carried out from the top plan to the company level collaboration, it would make a fast increasing in the near future with the increasing international and domestic needs of deep sea exploit.

Clique Structure and Enterprise Innovation: an Empirical Research on China's High-end Equipment Manufacturing Industry

Clique problem has been fully researched in the social relations network of sociology，But the cliques in inter-enterprise networks have attracted people's attention in recent years. Based on the alliance data of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry in China in 2000-2013, we construct innovation network，and use negative binomial regression models to analyze the impact of the clique structure on enterprise innovation. The results show that the more the clique numbers in the alliance innovation network, the stronger the enterprise innovation capability. Whether the enterprises listed have a negative moderating effect on the impact of clique numbers on enterprise innovation performance. That is, for the listed enterprises, more clique numbers cannot significantly promote enterprise innovation, but for non-listed enterprises, more clique numbers are conducive to enterprise innovation. Innovation accumulation has no significant positive moderating effect on the impact of clique numbers on enterprise innovation performance. The impact of the coreness values on the enterprise innovative output in an inverted-U curvilinear way, and the coreness values also moderates the effect of innovation accumulation on enterprise innovation capability in an inverted-U curvilinear way. The conclusions of the research can provide the basis for the enterprise to embed the network cliques and for the relevant government departments to formulate the alliance policy.

Measurement Research on the Decoupling Effect of Industries’ Carbon Emissions—Based on the Equipment Manufacturing Industry in China

Economic development usually leads to increased energy consumption, which in turn will result in an increase in carbon emissions. To break the relationship between economic development and carbon emissions, scholars have turned their attention to the phenomenon of decoupling. In this paper, we studied the decoupling relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth of the equipment manufacturing industry in China from 2000 to 2014. We adapted the LMDI decomposition method, and we used the Tapio decoupling evaluation model to analyze our data. We found that the decoupling relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth of China’s equipment manufacturing industry is weak, which indicates the industry is experiencing faster economic growth than carbon emission growth. We found the economic output is the factor that has the strongest influence on the industry’s carbon emission, and energy consumption intensity has the strongest relationship with the decoupling of economic growth and carbon emission. The indicators of the industry’s decoupling-effort are all less than 1.0, which indicates that the industry is in the state of weak decoupling, and we also observed an annual decreasing trend in the industry’s indicators. Toward the end of this paper, we used the Grey forecasting model to predict the decoupling relationship between carbon emission and economic growth for 2015–2024, and we discussed the implications of our research.

MATLAB program was compiled; experiments on related data have been done employing the program. All experiments have shown that the arithmetic can efficiently approach the precision with 10-4 error, also the learning speed is quick and predictions are ideal. Trainings have been done with other networks in comparison. Back-propagation learning algorithm network does not converge until 2000 iterative procedure, and exactness design RBFNN is time-consuming and has big error. The arithmetic can approach nonlinear function by arbitrary precision, and also keep the network from getting into partial minimum.

Research on Higher Technical Education Meets the Demands for Talents in Equipment Manufacturing Industry in China

By considering the current situation of talents in equipment manufacturing, the development trend, and the demands for talents in equipment manufacturing industry in China, this paper will represent the achievements which have been attained in higher technical education in recent years. Meanwhile, some problems, such as low innovative and practical abilities in talents cultivating still exist. After analyzing these situations, the conclusions were deduced: educational administrators, relevant industrial enterprises and technical education colleges should cooperate in order to promote the reformation and development of higher technical education in a deep insight.

Electric power equipment manufacturing industry in China

Electricity generation in China has been growing rapidly at a rate of around 8% per annum. To meet the demand, China is rapidly developing its own power equipment manufacturing industry. However, the Chinese manufacturing industry can provide only about 70-80% of the power equipment needed. This opens a huge market for overseas engineering companies. Direct sale, technology transfer and joint ventures are the important ways to step into this market. The current situation of China's power equipment manufacturing industry and its international co-operation is reviewed, and it is illustrated that joint ventures or heavy local involvement seem to be the best alternatives.
