8081 Background: ACTION (Assessment of Cost and ouTcomes of chemotherapy In an Observational setting in patients with advanced NSCLC) is an on-going, pan-European, observational study in routine clinical practice. This report summarizes baseline observer Lung Cancer Symptom Scale (LCSS) and EQ-5D health status scores among countries and according to treatment choice. Methods: Between 4/2003 and 6/2004, 993 patients (pts) were recruited. Pts were ≥18 years old and receiving first-line chemotherapy for IIIB/IV NSCLC. Baseline data were available in 967 pts. Results: Median age was 64 years (range 31–90), 71% were male. WHO PS was 0 in 21%, 1 in 65%, 2 in 10%, and 3/4 in 4%. 35% of patients were stage IIIB. There were 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or >4 metastatic organs involved in 27%, 47%, 18%, 6%, 2%, and 0.2% of pts, respectively.
