Analysis of the Teaching Reform Path for Environmental Engineering Technology Majors in Higher Vocational Education Based on the “1+X” Certificate

In the context of building an innovative country, the country has put forward higher requirements for talent cultivation in vocational colleges. Vocational colleges should continuously explore and improve talent cultivation work to meet these requirements while cultivating more professional and practical talents for the country and society. This article takes the Environmental Engineering Technology major as an example. Integrating the concept of “1+X” certificate into environmental engineering technology teaching can better construct the curriculum system of the Environmental Engineering Technology major, make the curriculum structure more scientific, complete and standardized, and help students understand the connection between certificates and education from multiple perspectives, thereby achieving effective reform of the curriculum of the Environmental Engineering Technology major. Based on this, the article will elaborate on the concept and significance of the “1+X” certificate and analyze in detail the teaching system construction ideas of the environmental engineering technology major courses in higher vocational education under the background of the “1+X” certificate. Studying the shortcomings in the current development of environmental engineering technology education in higher vocational education in China and proposing improvement measures for the environmental engineering technology major courses in higher vocational education to address existing problems will provide certain references and assistance for the subsequent reform of environmental engineering teaching in higher vocational education in China.

The Future of Environmental Engineering Technology: A Disruptive Innovation Perspective

Scientific and technological revolutions and industrial transformations have accelerated the rate of innovation in environmental engineering technologies. However, few researchers have evaluated the current status and future trends of technologies. This paper summarizes the current research status in eight major subfields of environmental engineering—water treatment, air pollution control, soil/solid waste management, environmental biotechnology, environmental engineering equipment, emerging contaminants, synergistic reduction of pollution and carbon emissions, and environmental risk and intelligent management—based on bibliometric analysis and future trends in greenization, low carbonization, and intelligentization. Disruptive technologies are further identified based on discontinuous transformation, and ten such technologies are proposed, covering general and specific fields, technical links, and value sources. Additionally, the background and key innovations in disruptive technologies are elucidated in detail. This study not only provides a scientific basis for strategic decision-making, planning, and implementation in the environmental engineering field but also offers methodological guidance for the research and determination of breakthrough technologies in other areas.

Mass transfer kinetics of polyethylene degradation by bacterial-fungal consortium

Understanding the biodegradation rate of polyethylene (PE) plastic waste mediated by bacterial-fungal consortium (BFC) is important to ensure effective design process of the bioremediation technology. The aims of this study were to scrutinize the behaviors of PE plastic degradation mediated by the BFC colonies numerically simulated the experimental data using the modified mass transfer factor models and to analyze the kinetics and mechanisms of internal, external and global mass transfer. The performance of rectangular reactor (RR) to biologically degrade the PE plastic increased up to 61.5% shows an increased efficiency of 55.9% stimulated by the presence of BFC colonies. Trend in the variation of internal mass transfer is almost the same with that of global mass transfer and is far higher than that of external mass transfer (EMT). The rate-limiting step of PE plastic degradation is dependent on the resistance of EMT. The application of BFC colonies aimed to improve the biodegradation rate of PE plastic waste contributes to advancing the future environmental engineering technologies.

Research Activities at Faculty of Chemical Technology, Hanoi University of Industry ‐ 20 Years of Growth and Development

AbstractHanoi University of Industry, with a 125‐year history of construction and development, is the leading institution for training and applied scientific research in Vietnam. It offers a wide range of disciplines, types, and levels of education to produce high‐quality human resources for the country's industrialization, national modernization, and international integration efforts. The university currently boasts over 1,500 staff and lecturers, three campuses covering nearly 50 hectares, and a student population of more than 30,000. Hanoi University of Industry provides multidisciplinary training, providing high‐quality human resources for society. In which, the Faculty of Chemical Technology was established on March 1, 2003, in 20 years of construction and development, the faculty has constantly grown, annually providing the society with many high‐quality human resources, with many fields of study diverse, learning, training: Chemical engineering technology, Environmental engineering technology, Food technology and Pharmaceutical chemistry. Besides, the faculty, students and students of the faculty have made great efforts in training, studying and doing scientific research, achieving many excellent achievements.

Estimating Three-Dimensional Permeability Distribution for Modeling Multirate Coreflooding Experiments

Characterizing subsurface reservoirs such as aquifers or oil and gas fields is an important aspect of various environmental engineering technologies. Coreflooding experiments, conducted routinely for characterization, are at the forefront of reservoir modeling. In this work, we present a method to estimate the three-dimensional permeability distribution and characteristic (intrinsic) relative permeability of a core sample in order to construct an accurate model of the coreflooding experiment. The new method improves previous ones by allowing to model experiments with mm-scale accuracy at various injection rates, accounting for variations in capillary–viscous effects associated with changing flow rates. We apply the method to drainage coreflooding experiments of nitrogen and water in two heterogeneous limestone core samples and estimate the subcore scale permeability and relative permeability. We show that the models are able to estimate the saturation distribution and core pressure drop with what is believed to be sufficient accuracy.

Soil and Water Conservation Techniques in Tropical and Subtropical Asia: A Review

Soil and water loss is a severe environmental problem in tropical and subtropical Asia (TSA). This review systematically summarizes the techniques that have been widely applied in the TSA region and compares the conservation efficiency of these techniques based on the runoff and sediment reduction ratios (ηr and ηs). The results show that the current techniques can be divided into biological, engineering and agricultural practice measures, and in most cases, their efficiencies in reducing sediment loss (ηs = 14.0–99.5%, 61.3–100.0% and 0.6–95.4%, respectively) were higher than in reducing runoff loss (ηr = 2.8–9.38%, 0.28–83.3% and 1.62–70.2%, respectively). Monocultures of single tree species (e.g., Pinus massoniana) sometimes showed very limited conservation effects. Vetiver and alfalfa were more effective at reducing soil loss than other hedgerow species. Contour tillage, ridge farming, and reduced tillage generally showed high efficiencies in reducing soil loss compared with other agricultural practice measures. The combination of engineering and biological techniques could more effectively reduce soil and water loss compared with the application of these techniques along. Future works should be conducted to build unified technical standards and reasonable comprehensive evaluation systems, to combine these techniques with environmental engineering technologies, and to develop new amendment materials.

Business model for community featured products in peatlands: case study of Pulang Pisau Regency

Peatlands are one of resources for regional economic development in Pulang Pisau Regency. However, the condition of peatlands continues to be degraded due to uncontrolled use and fires on peatlands and forests areas. The socio-economic revitalization of community is one of the efforts to restore the degraded peatlands. This revitalization is required as the utilization of peatland by the community is still traditional, so the added value of land use products, until now has not been created optimally. Therefore, a land-use business approach that is appropriate with the capacity of the community and available natural capital is needed. This approach will improve community livelihoods and contribute positively to economic, social, and environmental development. This paper aims to identify the features of paludiculture products cultivated by the community and develop a featured product business model. Research locations are in Buntoi and Mantaren 1 Village. Data collection is carried out through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. Respondents are farmers, traders, industry players, and the government. The data analysis used is descriptive data analysis and canvas business model (CBM). The dominant type of plant cultivated by the community is rubber. The community considers rubber could provide high economic benefits. Analysis results of rubber business practices carried out by the community are characterized by (i) low dry content of rubber latex (slab); (ii) rubber latex that is sold to a local trader or factories at lower prices than it is sold to the factory, (iii) the certainty of the slab supply to the factory is relatively high; and (iv) limited control of capital and technology. The development of the CBM model is needed to improve the rubber business through improving the quality of latex as a market segmentation requirement, expanding potential customers through collective marketing channels, improving productivity by selecting superior seeds and environmental engineering technology.

EVALUATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS FROM SOUTHEAST ASIA TO HIGH SCHOOL IN JAPAN

High schools in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, conducted an environmental engineering education program for international students from Southeast Asia for 13 years from 1998 to 2010. The purpose of this study is to understand the impact of the program on former international students and Japanese high schools as of now, 10 years after the end of the environmental engineering program. International students stayed in a Japanese home for a year and learned environmental engineering technology while interacting with Japanese high school students. In order to sort out the different types of exchange activities between former international students and Japanese high schools, and to do a post analysis, we conducted a survey of former international students and Japanese high school students, Southeast Asian and Japanese high school staff and host families.Using the survey data, a logic model for the environmental engineering education program was created. As a result, it was found that three elements of cross-cultural understanding, training agricultural engineers, and acquiring language skills are important for global human resource development. And it was found that the three elements involved four resources/inputs: homestay families, support for language learning, acquisition of agricultural technology, and learning and living experiences in foreign countries. It was found that the four resources exist all over the country, the program is likely to be applicable nationwide, and the global human resource development program can be disseminated anywhere.

Research and Practice on Training Mode Reform of Applied Talents in Environmental Engineering Technology under Industry-Teaching Integration Training Base

It is an effective way to promote the in-depth development of school-enterprise cooperation to build a high-level professional training base integrating industry and education with radiation-leading effect [1]. It is an important measure to reform the training mode of talents and improve the training ability of talents with technical skills. Through the research on the construction and teaching reform of the industry-teaching integration training base for environmental engineering technology major in Chongqing vocational college of resources and environmental protection, adopt the “four-in-one” teaching reform mode of “Internet + teaching + project +X certificate” [2], carry out reform and practice of application-oriented talent training mode based on industry-teaching integration training base. Implement the curriculum teaching design that emphasizes vocational competence [3], analyze the results and experience, put forward the problems existing in the process of educational reform and the effective operation thinking of sustainable development, to study and explore a new path for the trainning of environmental engineering talents under the background of industry-education integration training base [4], continuously enhance the ability of environmental engineering technology specialty to accurately serve regional development needs.

Concept of Automated Agriculture - Auto Techno Farming

Agriculture cushions men and helps humans to lead a comfortable and convenient life. The main objective of this project is to enhance farm productivity in large scale farming and urban areas, it tends to solve the uncertain issues that are developing in urban agriculture by implementing human free automated agriculture. With the espousal of Artificial Intelligence in Auto Techno Farming (ATF) can lead to the development of advanced agricultural farming methods. We are presenting the concept of automated agriculture that is a track based farming technique for large area farming. Machine design is carried out in such a way that it receives a single command from the user, after which it assesses and analyses geographical conditions and begins to send the analysed data to the user. ATF is fully automated, which will assist to select the seeds by itself and sow the seed according to the optimal weather conditions in appropriate time. The challenging issue probably solved by ATF is, it sprays pesticide only to the required areas. In addition this provides multitudinous advantages such as, full automation, uses AI, weeding, harvesting and other farming techniques are done predominantly by itself. The project proposed above can be tested on agricultural fields with high precision. It makes a pristine beauty of agriculture and makes the survival of the man significant by ATFs. ATF serves as a milestone in the field of agriculture under emerging Environmental Engineering Technologies. The concept of Auto Techno farming is described with the design, simulation and circuits out of CATIA V5, Creo, MATLAB, Proteus 8.9 and Blender.

Aspects of ecological engineering as an innovative technology for architecture and construction sphere development

The article discusses the aspect of environmental engineering as an innovative technology for architecture and construction development of and Russia as a whole, determining directions to optimize the existing “green” standards. Innovation and greening are currently the most important trends in the development of any state economy, which cannot be achieved without the corresponding development of green certification systems aimed at ensuring sustainable growth and environmental protection. It is proved that environmental engineering issues are especially important for Russia in view of the prioritization of the innovative development vector and the actualization of the role of green innovations in architecture and construction as a prerequisite for our country to join the ranks of developed countries. Based on the evolution analysis of Russian “green” standards, factors were identified that determined the “imperfection” of their formation. Comparison of the structure and goals of existing Russian certification systems made it possible to identify their main characteristics and specifics, both contributing and leveling processes of sustainable development. Based on the research data obtained, directions for optimizing “green” standards are proposed, which implementation ensures the effective implementation of innovative environmental engineering technologies, with the latter contributing to the creation of favorable conditions for the development of the state as a whole.

ICCEET was established at University of Kufa with the aim of promoting the acquisition and transfer of civil and environmental engineering technologies for advancing research, design, and construction practices that can be utilized for improving the quality of life for all people in our territory. ICCEET is going to bring people from different marbles in civil & environmental engineering and merge them in one forum. In the ICCEET, you’ll find a wide range of disciplines to include all fields of civil and environmental engineering including: construction, modern GIS, geotechnical, structural, environmental, water resources, and transportation where it’s hoped that useful discussions and collaborations can be instigated.The first edition of ICCEET has been organized in cooperation with Liverpool June Moores University on April 23-24, 2019 at University of Kufa. In this edition, numerous manuscripts were submitted to the ICCEET from a wide range of countries all around the world and in different fields of Civil Engineering. The total published papers after accepting them by the editorial board of the conference and performing a peer review process were 63 papers.The conference in the second edition received potential number of submissions from across the world i.e. Iraq, UK, Turkey, Iran, Thailand, China and Malesia. 84 papers have been accepted by the editorial board of ICCEET 2020 after the stringent screening and review process. ICCEET is an annual technical event and has been aimed to be conducted on April every year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in all over the world followed by the national and international travel restrictions, the conference has been organized in online model via Free Conference Call (FCC) during June 10 - 11, 2020 from Najaf, Iraq. There were more than 80 papers presented from Iraq, Uk, Malesia, Thailand, Iran, and Turkey which were distributed to six individual sessions in accordance to the specific field i.e. structural engineering, highways engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, materials, engineering and others. Each presenter were given ten minutes for presentation and five minutes for Q&A discussion on the queries. The chairman of the technical session made sure that the questions and answer sessions were fairly coordinated with the presenters and participants. The conference started at 10:00 am on 10th June with the keynote speakers session by Prof. Louay Mohammed, Louisiana State University, USA and Professor Ahmed Al-Shamma’a, the dean of the College of Engineering, University of Sharja, UAE. Also, an attractive workshop has been conducted on the first day at 7:00 pm by Dr. Kazem Fakharian, Amirkabir University, Iran. Also, we are pleased that more than 800 people from different regions of the world have attended to the different activities of the conference. Stimulation of Heavy Metal Adsorption Process by Using a Strong Magnetic Field

The adsorption process is one of the most important techniques of water and wastewater treatment technology. Therefore, there are many methods allowing to improve the effectiveness of these processes based mainly on the chemical modification of adsorbents. However, they are always associated with the necessity of introducing an additional wastes or sewage to the environment. That is why a purpose of the presented was to investigate an innovative and noninvasive adsorption supporting method based on the using of a static magnetic field. The results showed that in the adsorption process of equimolar copper, nickel, and cadmium mixture, a presence of the magnetic field may increase the effectiveness of the process, with respect to copper by more than 40% and a summary molar removal was increased about 11%. However, the effectiveness of the analyzed modification depends largely on the heavy metal equilibrium concentration, and when it increases, a beneficial effect of magnetic field significantly decreases. Nevertheless, due to the fact that heavy metal adsorption processes are very important part of environmental engineering technologies, it can be assumed that further work on magnetic modification of these processes can allow for a significant improvement of many water and wastewater purification plants.Graphical

Exploring public perception of environmental technology over time

This paper analyses how new information shapes public perception of a controversially discussed technology over time. The test case analysed in this paper is solar radiation management (SRM), a potentially risky, environmental engineering technology, which aims to fight climate change by the injection of sulphate aerosols into the stratosphere. Using panel survey data, we show that most respondents initially show strong negative emotions towards SRM and reject the technology. However, public perception is not stable over time as emotions cool off and acceptance increases. The increase in acceptance is greater, the longer the cooling-off period between two surveys. Furthermore, we show that the cooling-off effect is more pronounced for more impulsive respondents.

Recent Research Trends and Future Prospects in Nanozymes

Recently, nanomaterial‐based enzyme mimetics (nanozymes) have attracted enormous interest. They exhibit unique advantages such as excellent robustness, stability, and low‐cost production with easy scale‐up, which are critically needed as an alternative to natural enzymes. These nanozymes exhibit natural enzyme‐like activity and have been applied to various kinds of detection and treatment methods for biomolecules such as DNA, proteins, cells, and small molecules including glucose. To highlight progress in the field of nanozymes, this review discusses recent nanozyme‐based research results and their applications for the development of novel biosensor, immunoassay, cancer diagnostics, therapeutics, and environmental engineering technologies. Current challenges and future prospects of nanozymes for widespread use in biotechnology are also discussed.

Remote Sensing for Monitoring Surface Water Quality Status and Ecosystem State in Relation to the Nutrient Cycle: A 40-Year Perspective

Delineating accurate nutrient fluxes and distributions in multimedia environments requires the integration of vast amounts of information. Such nutrient flows may be related to atmospheric deposition, agricultural runoff, and urbanization effect on surface and groundwater systems. Two types of significant undertakings for nutrient management have been in place for sustainable development. While many environmental engineering technologies for nutrient removal have been developed to secure tap water sources and improve the drinking water quality, various watershed management strategies for eutrophication control are moving to highlight the acute need for monitoring the dynamics and complexities that arise from nutrient impacts on water quality status and ecosystem state, both spatially and temporally. These monitoring methods and data are associated with local point measurements, air-borne remote sensing, and space-borne satellite images of spatiotemporal nutrient distributions leading to the generation of accurate environmental patterns. Within this context, several key water quality constituents, including total nitrogen, total phosphorus, chlorophyll-a concentration, colored dissolved organic matter (dissolved organic carbon or total organic carbon), harmful algal blooms (e.g., cyanobacterial toxins or microcystin concentrations), and descriptors of ecosystem states, such as total suspended sediment (or turbidity), transparency (e.g., Secchi disk depth), and temperature, will be of major concern. Considering the advancements, challenges, and accomplishments related to remote sensing technologies in the past four decades, we present a thorough literature review of contemporary state-of-the-art technologies of remote sensing platforms and sensors that may be employed to support essential scientific missions, and provide an in-depth discussion and new insight into various inversion methods (or models) to improve the estimation accuracy. In this study, the spectrum of these remote sensing technologies and models is first divided into groups based on chronological order associated with different platforms and sensors, although some of them may be subject to mission-oriented arrangements. Case-based and location-based studies were cited, organized, and summarized to further elucidate tracks of application potential that support future, forward-looking, cost-effective, and risk-informed nutrient management plans. The comprehensive reviews presented here should echo real-world observational evidence by using integrated sensing, monitoring, and modeling techniques to improve environmental management, policy analysis, and decision making.

The Geological Environment Governance of the Coal Gangue and Coal Mining Subsidence Water Area Caused by Mining in Wangzhuang Coal Mine

Combining the governance situation of the main coal gangue heap in Shanxi LuAn group, aiming at different geographical conditions and governance effect of subsidence basin water area caused by coal gangue heap and coal mining at WangZhuang coal mine, based on the concept of ecological management in mines, the paper probes into the geological environmental engineering technology of subsidence basin water area caused by coal gangue heap and coal mining. Then the article analyzes the comprehensive benefits and puts forward to the problems existing in the comprehensive treatment engineering of coal gangue heap and the corresponding solutions.

수질오염 방지를 위한 통합 모니터링 시스템에 관한 연구

The conventional monitoring system for water pollution measurement is quite simple and independent and it has a lot of draw backs such as cost, installation, etc. So, in this paper, we have measured the water pollution system through a bacterial species, photobacterium phosphoreum. A novel integrated monitoring system technology has been developed which could easily dictate and analyze the major water pollutants and its surrounding environment in an accurate way. The system constitutes of bionic technology, information technology and environmental engineering technology. As a result, integrated monitoring system can observe the water pollution and various water environment of the whole country. Also, through the sensors of USN, Zigbee, RFID and middle ware, which can provide service and construct service platform, a properly standardized plan with remarkable service platform has been established through this investigation.

Iron Humate as a Multifunctional Sorbent for Inorganic and Organic Pollutants

Environmental Context. Humic substances can be used during treatment of wastewater, groundwater, leachates, and soil in various environmental engineering technologies, in which these abundant natural macromolecules can substitute for activated carbon and other, more expensive, organic and inorganic adsorbents. Moreover, toxic organic compounds can, once immobilized on the humates, become incorporated into the humate chemical structure and thereby circumvent the need for desorption. However, the complex chemical nature and inhomogeneous physical form of these materials means absorption mechanisms will be complicated and no single mechanism describes the process; in this study metals, organochlorines, and dyes are shown to be absorb differently. Abstract. Iron humate, produced from low-rank brown coal, can be used as an effective sorbent for substances as different as metal ions and low-polarity organic compounds (chlorophenols). The sorption capacities ranged from 0.024 to 0.324 mmol g–1 for metal ions and from 0.016 to 0.037 mmol g–1 for chlorophenols. Evidently, different mechanisms are responsible for the sorption of various chemical pollutants from aqueous solutions. Multimode sorption mechanisms play an important role also in the sorption of ionic compounds such as basic dyes in the presence of oppositely charged surfactants.
