Logarithmic corrections to the entropy of non-extremal black holes in mathcal{N} = 1 Einstein-Maxwell supergravity

We reviewed the field redefinition approach of Seeley-DeWitt expansion for the determination of Seeley-DeWitt coefficients from arXiv:1505.01156. We apply this approach to compute the first three Seeley-DeWitt coefficients for “non-minimal” mathcal{N} = 1 Einstein-Maxwell supergravity in four dimensions. Finally, we use the third coefficient for the computation of the logarithmic corrections to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of non-extremal black holes following arXiv:1205.0971. We determine the logarithmic corrections for non-extremal Kerr-Newman, Kerr, Reissner-Nordström and Schwarzschild black holes in “non-minimal” mathcal{N} = 1, d = 4 Einstein-Maxwell supergravity.

Rindler/Contracted-CFT correspondence

Taking the flat-space limit (zero cosmological constant limit) of the Rindler-AdS spacetime yields the Rindler metric. According to the proposal of Flat/contracted-CFT correspondence, the flat-space limit on the bulk side of asymptotically AdS spacetimes corresponds to the contraction of the conformal field theory on the boundary. We use this proposal for the Rindler-AdS/CFT correspondence and propose a dual theory for the Rindler spacetime, which is a contracted conformal field theory (CCFT). We show that the two-dimensional CCFT symmetries exactly predict the same two-point functions that one may find by taking the flat-space limit of three-dimensional Rindler-AdS holographic results. Using the Flat/CCFT proposal, we also calculate the three-dimensional Rindler energy-momentum tensor. Since the near horizon geometry of non-extreme black holes has a Rindler part, we note that it is plausible to find a dual CCFT at the horizon of non-extreme black holes. By using our energy-momentum tensor, we find the correct mass of non-rotating BTZ and show that the Cardy-like formula for CCFT yields the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of non-extreme BTZ. Our current work is the first step towards describing the entropy of non-extreme black holes in terms of CCFTs microstates which live on the horizon.

Logarithmic corrections to Schwarzschild and other non-extremal black hole entropy in different dimensions

Euclidean gravity method has been successful in computing logarithmic corrections to extremal black hole entropy in terms of low energy data, and gives results in perfect agreement with the microscopic results in string theory. Motivated by this success we apply Euclidean gravity to compute logarithmic corrections to the entropy of various non-extremal black holes in different dimensions, taking special care of integration over the zero modes and keeping track of the ensemble in which the computation is done. These results provide strong constraint on any ultraviolet completion of the theory if the latter is able to give an independent computation of the entropy of non-extremal black holes from microscopic description. For Schwarzschild black holes in four space-time dimensions the macroscopic result seems to disagree with the existing result in loop quantum gravity.

Gravitational lensing by p-branes

The scattering of R-R gauge bosons off of Dirichlet p-branes is computed to leading order in the string coupling. The results are qualitatively similar to those found in the scattering of massless NS-NS bosons: all p-branes with p ≥ 0 exhibit stringy properties, in particular the Regge behavior. Both the R-R and NS-NS scattering amplitudes agree in the limit of small momentum transfer with scattering off the extremal R-R charged p-brane solutions found in the low-energy supergravities. We interpret this as evidence that Dirichlet-branes are an exact worldsheet description of the extremal p-branes. The −1-brane (D-instanton) is a special object which, unlike all other Dirichlet-branes, exhibits point-like behavior. We show that the field theoretic scattering off of the R-R charged instanton solution to type IIB supergravity exactly reproduces the full stringy calculation. As an aside, we include a discussion of the entropy of nonextremal black holes in ten dimensions, produced by exciting the 0-brane.
