A Relative Study of Various Routing Protocols in Mobile Ad Hoc Network

Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is an infrastructure fewer networks built on a multihop conveying idea. It transmits data from base node to end node. Because MANETS don’t have any fixed infrastructure and it works in a distributed manner. For efficient communication, many routing protocols are used in MANET. Routing protocols are to find a new route to transmit data from base to accurate end through the midway nodes. Every in-between node is act as a router. So, this paper is covers the routing protocols AODV, DSR, DSDV and OLSR to keep current routing information from every node to each other nodes. The purpose of this paper to offers a relative study of routing protocols in MANET and energy aware performance metrics are analyzed on two routing protocols of AODV and DSDV.

Energy aware performance study for a class of computationally intensive Monte Carlo algorithms

The latest developments in the domain of HPC have lead to the deployment of complex extreme-scale systems, based on diverse computing devices (CPU, GPU, accelerators) thus posing the question of scalability in the light not only of parallel efficiency, but also in terms of energy efficiency. In this paper we propose a new metrics for energy aware performance estimation based on our experience and the analysis of the existing metrics. We study the performance of computationally intensive Monte Carlo applications deployed on heterogeneous HPC systems with focus on energy efficiency and equipment costs. We compare the energy aware performance results of CPU and GPU variants of the tested algorithms with respect to the introduced measures and metrics. The results of our study demonstrate the importance of taking into account not only scalability of the HPC applications but also energy efficiency and equipment cost. They also show how to optimize the selection of CPU computing or computing with GPGPUs. The results can be used by application developers/users and also by resource providers.

Green Networking With Packet Processing Engines: Modeling and Optimization

With the aim of controlling power consumption in metro/transport and core networks, we consider energy-aware devices able to reduce their energy requirements by adapting their performance. In particular, we focus on state-of-the-art packet processing engines, which generally represent the most energy-consuming components of network devices, and which are often composed of a number of parallel pipelines to “divide and conquer” the incoming traffic load. Our goal is to control both the power configuration of pipelines and the way to distribute traffic flows among them. We propose an analytical model to accurately represent the impact of green network technologies (i.e., low power idle and adaptive rate) on network- and energy-aware performance indexes. The model has been validated with experimental results, performed by using energy-aware software routers loaded by real-world traffic traces. The achieved results demonstrate how the proposed model can effectively represent energy- and network-aware performance indexes. On this basis, we propose a constrained optimization policy, which seeks the best tradeoff between power consumption and packet latency times. The procedure aims at dynamically adapting the energy-aware device configuration to minimize energy consumption while coping with incoming traffic volumes and meeting network performance constraints. In order to deeply understand the impact of such policy, a number of tests have been performed by using experimental data from software router architectures and real-world traffic traces.

Robust Saturated Control for Low-Power Circuits

An important issue in the trends of miniaturization of systems-on-chips (SoCs) is to obtain a high energy efficiency. This can be reached by dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) architectures as the novel discrete Vdd-Hopping circuit. Generally, this kind of systems present parameter uncertainties and delays. Likewise, current peaks and energy dissipation must be reduced. In this paper, an optimal and robust saturated control law is proposed for this Vdd-Hopping circuit via Lyapunov-Krasovskii theory that ensures asymptotic stability as well as system robustness with respect to delay presence and parameter uncertainties. The closed-loop system presents a regional stabilization due to the actuator saturation. An estimation of an attraction domain is provided. This controller also limits the current peaks and it provides an energy-aware performance. The advantages achieved with this controller are shown in simulation.

A new energy aware performance metric

Energy aware algorithms are the wave of the future. The development of exascale systems made it clear that extrapolations of current technologies, algorithmic practices and performance metrics are simply inadequate. The community reacted by introducing the FLOPS/WATT metric in order to promote energy awareness. In this work we take a step forward and argue what one should aim for is the total reduction of the spent energy in conjunction with minimization of time to solution. Thus, we propose to use f(timetosolution)⋅energy (FTTSE) as the performance metric, where f(⋅) is an application dependent function of time. In this paper, we introduce our ideas and showcase them with a recently developed framework for solving large dense linear systems.
