Design and Implementation of E-Commerce System Based on SOA

Through the in-depth study on a variety of existing E-Commerce system building technologies, in the use of mature and stable JZEE multi-tier architecture, combined with the emerging Web services technology and Web services dynamic combination technology, this paper designs and implements a comprehensive Enterprise-Class E-Commerce transaction platform based Service-Oriented architecture. This design is simple, flexible and strongly scalable, that is, when the business needs and business process changes, the system just needs to be simply adjusted to complete the application software updates, so it has high practical value.

A dynamic context-aware access control architecture for e-services

The universal adoption of the Internet and the emerging web services technologies constitutes the infrastructure that enables the provision of a new generation of e-services and applications. However, the provision of e-services through the Internet imposes increased risks, since it exposes data and sensitive information outside the client premises. Thus, an advanced security mechanism has to be incorporated, in order to protect this information against unauthorized access. In this paper, we present a context-aware access control architecture, in order to support fine-grained authorizations for the provision of e-services, based on an end-to-end web services infrastructure. Access permissions to distributed web services are controlled through an intermediary server, in a completely transparent way to both clients and protected resources. The access control mechanism is based on a Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) model, which incorporates dynamic context information, in the form of context constraints. Context is dynamically updated and provides a high level of abstraction of the physical environment by using the concepts of simple and composite context conditions. Also, the paper deals with implementation issues and presents a system that incorporates the proposed access control mechanism in a web services infrastructure that conform to the OPC XML-DA specification.

A Clustering Based Approach for Facilitating Semantic Web Service Discovery

The World Wide Web is transitioning from being a mere collection of documents that contain useful information toward providing a collection of services that perform useful tasks. The emerging Web service technology has been envisioned as the next technological wave and is expected to play an important role in this recent transformation of the Web. By providing interoperable interface standards for application-to-application communication, Web services can be combined with component based software development to promote application interaction and integration both within and across enterprises. To make Web services for service-oriented computing operational, it is important that Web service repositories not only be well-structured but also provide efficient tools for developers to find reusable Web service components that meet their needs. As the potential of Web services for service-oriented computing is being widely recognized, the demand for effective Web service discovery mechanisms is concomitantly growing. A number of techniques for Web service discovery have been proposed, but the discovery challenge has not been satisfactorily addressed. Unfortunately, most existing solutions are either too rudimentary to be useful or too domain dependent to be generalizable. In this paper, we propose a Web service discovery approach that combines clustering techniques with string matching and leverages the semantics of the XML-based service specification in WSDL documents. We believe that this is one of the first attempts at applying data mining techniques in the Web service discovery domain. Our proposed approach has several appealing features: (1) It minimizes the requirement of prior knowledge from both service consumers and publishers; (2) It avoids exploiting domain dependent ontologies; and (3) It is able to visualize the semantic relationships among Web services. We have developed a Web service discovery tool based on the proposed approach using an unsupervised artificial neural network and empirically evaluated the proposed approach and tool using real Web service descriptions drawn from operational Web service registries. We report on some preliminary results demonstrating the efficacy of the proposed approach.

REMORA: a pilot in the ocean of BioMoby web-services

Emerging web-services technology allows interoperability between multiple distributed architectures. Here, we present REMORA, a web server implemented according to the BioMoby web-service specifications, providing life science researchers with an easy-to-use workflow generator and launcher, a repository of predefined workflows and a survey system. Ws-AC: A Fine Grained Access Control System for Web Services

The emerging Web service technology has enabled the development of Internet-based applications that integrate distributed and heterogeneous systems and processes which are owned by different organizations. However, while Web services are rapidly becoming a fundamental paradigm for the development of complex Web applications, several security issues still need to be addressed. Among the various open issues concerning security, an important issue is represented by the development of suitable access control models, able to restrict access to Web services to authorized users. In this paper we present an innovative access control model for Web services. The model is characterized by a number of key features, including identity attributes and service negotiation capabilities. We formally define the protocol for carrying on negotiations, by specifying the types of message to be exchanged and their contents, based on which requestor and provider can reach an agreement about security requirements and services. We also discuss the architecture of the prototype we are currently implementing. As part of the architecture we propose a mechanism for mapping our policies onto the WS-Policy standard which provides a standardized grammar for expressing Web services policies.

Development of a Web-Services-Based e-Diagnostics Framework for Semiconductor Manufacturing Industry

Recently, the emerging Web-Services technology has provided a new and excellent solution to the data integration among heterogeneous systems. A Web-Services-based e-diagnostics framework (WSDF) is proposed. It can achieve the automation of diagnostic processes and diagnostics information integration for semiconductor equipment. First, the system framework and the system component model are designed. Then, the object-oriented analysis and design of system components are accomplished. In particular, for the purpose of code reuse, several common functions, such as simple object access protocol communication, universal description discovery and integration registration, security mechanism, data exchange mechanism, and local database access, are built into a generic component called Web-Service agent. By inheriting the Web-service agent, other system components can be constructed and have these common functions. In addition, a unified authentication-service mechanism and a safe network connection are also designed in the framework. WSDF is intended to support the e-diagnostics functions defined by International SEMATECH. It is believed that WSDF can be applied to construct e-diagnostics systems for the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

The league of SuperNets

The author proposes a major effort to transform the Internet into a league of SuperNets. Doing so offers the promise of revolutionary new business opportunities, and could save the emerging Web services technology area from a snarl of reliability and security problems. We can slash the costs of operating big networks, roll out new kinds of applications with real-time properties, and start to build other kinds of applications for purposes like controlling the restructured electrical power grid or managing military assets on a battlefield. Unfortunately, however, the proposal departs drastically from the way that the Internet is currently evolving. The technical side of the issue is likely to be the easy part; the problem centers on the politics of the Internet sector and the community that controls its future. Yet, the payoff could be so great that I want to argue for a community response. If we all get behind a common vision, we can make it a reality.

AbstractThe rise of the Internet has had a profound effect on application development and user interfaces. In a similar fashion, emerging web services technologies have the potential to change the way applications are assembled and re‐used. Web services provide application designers new building blocks for assembling a product that meets users' needs – at the same time, web services come with their own set of design constraints. For web services to be successfully incorporated into a product, it is important that system designers understand how web services change application design. This paper begins by exploring the main components of web services and shows how web services affect system design. In addition, web services introduce three concepts – modularity, re‐application and interface decomposition – that can be applied to general system engineering design.
