ECOLINGUISTIC APPROACH TO THE STUDY OF MODERN ELECTRONIC BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Alternative Forms of Current Business Communication: Text Structure and Composition Evolution

The article deals with the structure and composition of texts of current electronic business communication. The research materials included electronic business letters (initial requests in the sphere of travel and hotel service), initial requests on the pharmaceutical, engineering, and technological Internet forums, and Instagram business communication texts in the sphere of education, real estate, and food. The messages demonstrated evolution of both structure and text architectonics of business letters. The main research methods included monitoring and description combined with the method of comparative language analysis. The structure and composition of electronic business letters and requests on the Internet forums and social networks proved different from traditional business letters due to the text-generating online algorithms. Internet users seem unable to perceive business e-mails, web-forum requests, or social network messages as a segmentable text. Electronic business communication is currently undergoing deformalization and style hybridization as a result of electronic communication peculiarities and liberalization.

The modern development of economic relations, their global nature on the one hand, and the development of information and communication technologies, on the other, have led to the emergence of a specific form of these relations - electronic business and e-commerce. Market entities quickly master new opportunities for organizing business communications and are actively involved in the electronic business environment. This leads to the fact that access to information technologies becomes not just a competitive advantage, but a necessary condition for the functioning of market entities. However, despite the rapid development of electronic business communications, there are a large number of problems that hinder the integration of the national economy into the global economic electronic space. Large Ukrainian corporations with significant export volumes and extensive foreign economic ties simply cannot afford to stay outside the space of the modern world market, in which its electronic part is beginning to account for an increasing share. Large sales volumes allow, even if a small part of the manufactured products is sold at the first stages, to ensure the economic efficiency of their electronic platforms. It has been established that e-commerce is a type of economic activity, the essence of which is to carry out various business transactions between business entities, business activities in cyberspace, ie the use of the Internet and other interactive functions. The development of e-commerce is becoming increasingly important in the context of globalization of economic processes, due to the possibility of achieving a global presence and economic activity worldwide, global choice of goods and services regardless of geographical location, optimization of trade flows, reducing costs for servicing the operation, which, in turn, leads to lower prices, the emergence of new goods and services (remote banking, insurance, brokerage services). Unfortunately, in Ukraine, the field of e-commerce is inferior to many developing countries, primarily due to the high level of distrust and low public awareness of the e-business sector, insufficient level of modernization of information and telecommunications technologies. Today in Ukraine, the segments of e-commerce - business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) are the most developed and represent, respectively, the sphere of concluding electronic business transactions between business entities. The article examines the reasons why the potential of e-commerce in Ukraine is not fully realized and the main factors of the growth of Internet commerce in the country.

A literature review of electronic data interchange as electronic business communication for manufacturing

Information and communication technology adoption and diffusion in micro-enterprises: the case of techno-savvy home-based businesses

The effective use of ICTs for business activities is of significant interest in a digital economy. This paper examines the adoption and diffusion of ICTs by micro home-based businesses (HBB) from an empirical study of 522 firms. Key findings include very high levels of internet, e-mail and cell phone usage for HBBs’ business activities; and increasing website adoption levels with increasing geographic sales reach (from local, regional, national, to international). In spite of micro size and limited resources, many of these HBB were techno-savvy and capable of utilising the full range of ICTs to facilitate electronic business communications and online transactions. These findings are significant given the lack of prior research on the HBB sector and the scale of micro-enterprises in economies around the globe.

Intranet Redesign and Change Management: Perspectives on Usability

As intranet implementations of enabling structures for internal electronic business communication increases, research is needed to provide an insight into the factors affecting a successful intranet design (Tang 2000). Using a case study involving a large multinational IT organisation, this paper studies changes made to the user interface design of a large multinational organisation’s intranet and examines how that intranet’s usability has been affected by these changes from both the managerial and employee end-user perspectives. The paper presents both a background on intranet design, its links to the design of web-based systems, and intranet-focussed usability issues.

Electronic Business Communications: New Spamming Laws for Singapore

Although digital communication such as smses and e-mails is a very convenient way of offering fast global reach, it becomes a nuisance invading an individual’s privacy when huge amounts of unsolicited e-mails and smses are sent indiscriminately to him – a practice called spamming. What legal protection is there for him in this business world? This article discusses and outlines the new spamming laws, which balance the privacy of an individual and the business world of advertising.

Languages for electronic business communication: state of the art

Electronic commerce (e‐commerce) is the new buzzword for doing business on the Internet. A main problem for business‐to‐business e‐commerce lies in the need for the information systems of the involved organizations to exchange meaningful information. For letting the information systems of business partners accomplish electronic business communication, semantic interoperability is necessary to ensure that exchange of information makes sense – that the provider and receiver of information have a common understanding of the “meaning” of the requested services and data. Traditional EDI is not sufficient to solve electronic business communication problems in an open and dynamic environment. Summarizes the development from traditional EDI towards new advanced electronic business communication approaches offering agent‐based e‐commerce marketplaces in which the meaning of business messages is managed by means of shared repositories for formally specifying the semantics of business messages. Within this framework, XML is the practical foundation for structuring the information to be interchanged.

Broker‐Dealer Supervision of Electronic Communications

In light of the sea change brought about by advancing technology in the way broker‐dealers communicate with clients, this article is a timely discussion of the current federal and self‐regulatory organization (SRO) requirements for a broker‐dealer's supervision of its employees' electronic business communications. Forms of communication, and the regulatory guidelines covering them, include e‐mail, off‐premises messages, group email, web site content, hyperlinks to other home pages, and chat rooms.

Business requirements for secure electronic communications

This article presents the experience gained over many years by Shell in the use of electronic business communications which have resulted in carefully developed strategies for maintaining control and security of sensitive electronic messages. These ideas include accreditation and certification schemes, the use of digital signatures, and the introduction of TTPs.
