Service specification for senior care workers with traditional Chinese medicine specialty

Abstract Senior care workers specializing in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) healthcare have become an indispensable force in institutional care, community care, and home care. The first Chinese nursing service team aimed to improve the health of the elderly by providing continuous services for physical and mental well-being, disease prevention, physical amelioration, and overall health enhancement using TCM concepts, methods, and technologies. The primary purpose of formulating this TCM health and elderly care worker service specification was to standardize services within the TCM elderly care industry, ensuring that the elderly receive better health and elderly care services supported by technical expertise. This specification outlined the basic requirements for TCM health and elderly care workers, including standards for service content, service quality control, service evaluation, and improvement. It primarily focused on the content and requirements of TCM health and elderly care services, such as constitution identification, life care, acupoint healthcare, and TCM auxiliary nursing for elderly individuals with chronic diseases. This specification is applicable to TCM health and elderly care personnel at various levels of hospitals and healthcare institutions and is noted for its strong applicability and effectiveness.

The effects of yoga and mindful meditation on elderly care worker’s burnout: a CONSORT-compliant randomized controlled trial

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the effects of mindful meditation and yoga on reducing burnout and stress in care workers who assist elderly individuals. Knowing how to reduce burnout is important because that of care workers is associated with the quality of client care, worker productivity, and job turnover.Patients and Methods: The participants included 44 care workers who worked for elderly care facilities in rural Fukuoka. They were randomly assigned to one of three intervention groups: control, yoga, or mindfulness. In the yoga intervention group, a certified yoga instructor taught a 60-minute yoga session each week for six weeks. In the mindfulness group, an experienced medical doctor instructed a mindful meditation program for the same length. Participants were asked to complete the Japanese Burnout Scale (JBS), and the research team collected the level of α-amylase in saliva using NIPRO: T-110-N pre- and post-interventions.Results: MANOVA was performed with each intervention (control, yoga, mindfulness) as the independent variable on the three subscales of the JBS (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal achievement) and a biomarker of stress level (α-amylase). The results indicated a significant main effect of interventions, and a follow-up ANOVA showed a significant effect of interventions on emotional exhaustion and personal achievement.Conclusion: The results indicate that practicing mindful meditation or yoga for 60 minutes once a week for six weeks can reduce care workers’ burnout. This study was notable because the biomarker of stress also improved. It is strongly recommended and encouraged that institutions caring for the elderly population provide mindful meditation or yoga intervention to reduce burnout, which benefits not only care workers but also their clients.

Konsekuensi yang muncul akan peningkatan penduduk menjadi dilema, terkait potensi atau tantangan bagi pembangunan secara nasional maupun regional, seperti kondisi harapan hidup yang meningkat membuat peningkatan jumlah penduduk lansia dan rasio ketergantungannya. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk menganalisis determinan keterlibatan lansia dalam pasar kerja. Studi kasus dilakukan di Kabupaten Sragen. Alat analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi logit. Regresi logit adalah suatu alat analisis statistik yang didesain untuk mengukur arah dan besarnya pengaruh satu atau lebih variabel terhadap satu atau lebih variabel dependen yang mana variabel dependen ditunjukkan dengan variabel dummy. Dummy pada variabel dependen ditunjukkan dengan 1 sebagai lansia bekerja dan 0 sebagai lainnya (leisure). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis kelamin, hubungan kepala rumah tangga, status perkawinan, tingkat pendidikan dan domisili berpengaruh nyata terhadap keputusan penduduk lansia untuk tetap bekerja atau leisure time. Temuan lainnya adalah jaminan yang diukur dengan kepemilikan jaminan pensiun tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan.

Factors influencing perceived health status among elderly workers: occupational stress, frailty, sleep quality, and motives for food choices.

PurposeThe aim of this study was to investigate occupational stress, frailty, sleep quality, and motives for food choices as key factors affecting the perceived health status among elderly workers.MethodsA cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 175 participants at the Community Senior Club in an urban area. The data was collected from November to December 2018. Pearson’s correlation analyses were performed for perceived health status, occupational stress, sleep quality, and motives for food choices. Multivariate linear regression was adjusted for general characteristics such as age, gender, level of education, living arrangements, and the number of illnesses.ResultsOccupational stress (r=−0.195, p<0.001), frailty (r=−0.468, p<0.001), and sleep quality scores (r=−0.306, p<0.001) showed significant negative correlations with perceived health status. Conversely, 5 motives for food choices (health, weight control, price, sensory appeal, and mood) were positively correlated with perceived health status. Linear regression analysis showed that occupational stress (β=−0.195, p<0.001), frailty (β=−0.420, p<0.001), and motives for food choices based on sensory appeal (β=0.240, p<0.001) were significant influencing factors for perceived health status.ConclusionWe found that occupational stress, frailty, and motives for food choices based on sensory appeal were significant factors for elderly worker health. This suggests that it is important to consider occupational stress, frailty, and motivation for food choices when examining the health of elderly workers. There is a need for more tailored health promotion interventions when considering these factors and the elderly population.

This study aims to find the implications the current elderly workers have for future labour market and employment to increase how long the elderly workers can stay in the labour force. The result showed most elderly workers want to remain in the labour market, regardless of the quality of or perception about current job. Implications have been suggested to help elderly workers to stay in the labour force in the super-aged society. It is expected this study will be able to offer insights for neighbouring countries bracing for an aged or super-aged society from the example of South Korea.

Classification of Elderly Workers for Support Policies Customized for Each Target Group

Although the elderly population is growing, the elderly afford to pay for their living expenses after retirement with public pensions alone. In addition, more than half of the elderly population has indicated that they have insufficient old age guaranteed. As a result, many elderly people hope to remain in the labour market and continue working even after legal retirement age. For continuous working, appropriate employment policy is needed. However, as the current employment policies are mostly focused on reemployment of wage earners. The purpose of this study is to suggest support plans for the continuous working of elderly workers according to their particular characteristics. For the purpose, we conducted a cluster analysis of 663 elderly workers and classified elderly workers into three types. In the conclusion, we have proposed a support plan for those still in the labour market that fits the characteristics of the elderly worker types.

Idoso no mercado de trabalho: implicações para a Enfermagem Gerontológica

Objetivo: refletir sobre os aspectos determinantes à manutenção/reinserção do idoso no mercado de trabalho, considerando as implicações à enfermagem gerontológica. Método: estudo teórico-reflexivo sobre o idoso no mercado de trabalho e suas repercussões à prática da enfermagem gerontológica. Resultados: há uma presença crescente dos idosos no mercado de trabalho em decorrência da necessidade de manutenção do papel social, questões previdenciárias, perda do poder aquisitivo e necessidade de prover a família, assim, tornando maiores e mais específicas as demandas de cuidado na área da enfermagem gerontológica que devem contemplar aspectos relacionados ao ambiente de trabalho e ao processo de envelhecimento. Conclusão: a enfermagem gerontológica possui inúmeras possibilidades de prestar suas habilidades e competências na área da saúde do trabalhador voltadas às especificidades do trabalhador idoso com foco no fortalecimento do conhecimento relacionado à tríade envelhecimento/velhice/trabalho.

Human resource factors associated with workplace safety and health education of small manufacturing businesses in Korea

Objectives: Human resources (HR) are essential indicators of safety and health (SH) status, and HR can be key sources of workplace safety management such as safety and health education at work (SHEW). This study analyzed significant HR factors associated with SHEW of small manufacturing businesses in Korea. Methods: The secondary data of the 2012 Korea Occupational Safety and Health Trend Survey were used to achieve this research purpose. A total of 2,089 supervisors or managers employed in the small manufacturing businesses completed the interview survey. Survey businesses were selected by multiple stratified sampling method based on industry code, business size, and region in Korea. The survey included workplace characteristics of HR and SHEW. Results: SHEW was significantly related to business size, occupational injury incidence in the previous year, foreign and elderly worker employment, presence of site supervisors, and presence of SH committees (p <.05). SHEW for office workers, non-office workers, and newcomers was associated with business size, presence of site supervisors, and presence of SH committees in logistic regression analysis (p <.001). Businesses with 30-49 workers conducted SHEW 3.64 times more than did businesses with 5 to fewer than 10 workers. The companies that had occupational injuries in the previous year conducted SHEW 1.68 times more than the others. The businesses that had site supervisors and committees conducted SHEW 2.30 and 2.18 times more, respectively, than others. Conclusions: Site supervisors and SH committees were significant HR factors that improved SHEW in small manufacturing businesses.

Metodologia de problematização como processo avaliativo em um curso profissionalizante na área da saúde

The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of the problematizing methodology as an evaluation process in the health area. The study field used comprised five students from am elderly care worker vocational course. The observed results describe the difficulty to incorporate the problematizing methodology as an evaluation process in an already structured curriculum. It was found that students still carry a stigma when inquired about evaluations and infer about punitive situations. It was observed that the students understand the importance of the process and made use of it while performing their own learning. It is considered that the methodology used allow to subjectively measure student learning by including their own discussions and previous knowledge established in the classroom.

노인요양시설 종사자들의 내부마케팅 요인이 직무만족, 감정노동 및 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

본 연구의 목적은 노인요양시설 종사자들을 대상으로 내부마케팅요인이 조직 구성원의 직무만족, 감정노동과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 구조화된 설문조사를 통해 자료를 수집 하였으며, 최종분석 대상자는 경남지역과 경북지역의 노인요양시설에 근무하는 191명이고 연구모형의 가설검증은 AMOS 18.0을 이용하여 경로분석을 시행하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 내부마케팅 요인이 직무만족에는 내부커뮤니케이션, 경영자지원만 영향을 미쳤으며, 감정노동에는 경영자지원만, 조직몰입에는 내부커뮤니케이션과 경영자지원이 영향을 미치는 걸로 나타났다. 본 연구결과의 시사는 장기요양시설 종사자들의 조직몰입 성과를 높이기 위해서는 바로 내부마케팅 역량 강화가 아니라 1차적으로 직무성과를 높여야 하며, 2차적으로 직무성과를 높이기 위해서는 종사자들의 직무만족과 감정노동에 대한 서비스 질의 변인을 좀 더 다양화한 연구가 필요하다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of internal marketing factors on organizational commitment and emotional labor in the elderly Care Worker. The data are collected through structured questionnaires. The Subjects of the final analysis is 191 persons working in the elderly care facilities in Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk provinces. Hypothesis testing of the research model is performed using AMOS 18.0. The main results of this study are as follows. Internal marketing factors influenced only internal communication and management support for job satisfaction, internal support for managerial support for emotional labor, internal communication and management support for organizational commitment. The results of this study suggest that in order to enhance the organizational commitment of long-term care workers, it is important not to strengthen internal marketing capacity but to increase job performance first, and secondly, to improve job performance, It is necessary to establish a more diversified research on the variables of service quality of job satisfaction and emotional labor.

The formulacognomen + nomen, as portrayed inLatronis enim Porcii(Sen.Controv. 1praef. 13), the first double-name reference withoutpraenomenin Seneca the Elder's work (henceforth referred to simply as Seneca), emerged as a result of the radical changes which the Roman onomastic system began to experience at the end of the Republic. 노인 일자리 사업 참여자의 통제 귀인과 활동의 요구-조절-지지 정도 및 통제 전략이 자신의 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향

This study tested the path model with regard to how certain variables (control attribution, demand-control-support ofactivity, and control strategy) affected the elderly workers’ subjective well-being(swb). In the path model, the exogenousvariables were internal and external control attribution. We used demand-control-support of activity, and primary andsecondary control strategies as mediating variables. The endogenous variable was each elderly worker’s swb. Studyparticipants were 205 elders participating in an “education activity”. We used descriptive statistical analysis, Pearson’scorrelation and hierarchical multiple regression to examine data collected from structured interviews with theparticipants. Path analysis revealed the followings: First, secondary control strategy was the strongest predictor ofparticipants’ swb but internal control attribution, demand of activity, and support of activity also positively affectedparticipants’ swb. Second, internal control attribution indirectly affected the participants’ swb. Finally primary controlstrategy negatively affected on the participants’ swb.± ¯ ,FZ
