The mechanism of Huanglian-Ejiao Decoction in the treatment of insomnia based on network pharmacology

Objective By taking network pharmacology approach to search for active components and the rapeutic targets of Huanglian-Ejiao Decoction. Methods According to the pharmacokinetic parameters, this research screened components of this decoction, and diged the drugs and disease targets with network pharmacology and constructed the drug-target-pathway network by Cytoscape system to investigate the mechanism of Huanglian-Ejiao Decoction. Results It was found that 19 components such as hydroberberine, β-sitosterol, curcumin, kaempferol, berberine and Ramie flavonoids in Huanglian-Ejiao Decoction could take effecton insomnia by regulating 25 targets such as 5-hydroxytryptamine, dopamine, gamma aminobutyric acid, opioid receptor and acetylcholine. Conclusion Huanglian-Ejiao Decoction may play an important role in treating insomnia by regulating multiple-targets. Clinical effect of Ejiao Huangqi oral liquid combined with norethisterone in treatment of dysfunctional uterine bleeding and its effect on improving anemia

Objective To observe the clinical effect of Ejiao Huangqi oral liquid combined with norethisterone in treating dysfunctional uterine bleeding and its effect on improving anemia. Methods 100 patients with dysfunctional uterine bleeding were randomly divided into study group(50 cases) and control group(50 cases) according to the order of admission.The control group was given oral norethindrone treatment, the study group was given Ejiao Huangqi oral liquid on the basis of the control group, 10mL per time, 2 times a day.Both two groups were treated for 3 menstrual cycles.The fasting blood samples were taken to test the red blood cells(RBC) and hemoglobin(Hb). All patients were followed up for 3 months to evaluate clinical efficacy. Results The levels of RBC and Hb in the study group and control group were (3.05±0.58)×1012/L and (3.67±0.65)×1012/L, (86.75±6.30)g/L and (97.95±6.53)g/L, respectively, which were significantly higher than those before treatment(all P<0.05). The levels of RBC and Hb in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate of the study group was 92%(46/50), which was significantly higher than that of the control group[84%(42/50)], the difference was statistically significant(Z=-3.334, P<0.01). Conclusion Ejiao Huangqi oral liquid combined with norethisterone has exact effect in treating dysfunctional uterine bleeding, can quickly stop bleeding, improve the symptoms of anemia, improve the clinical treatment effect, which is worthy of clinical use. Clinical observation on the protective function of complex E-jiao glue on peripheral blood of chemo-patients

Objective To investigate the protective effects of compound E-Jiao oral liquid on peripheral blood of patients treated with chemotherapy.Methods 163 patients of malignant tumors were selected.All patients were randomly recruited into a treatment group and a control group.The control group was administered with chemotherapy alone,while the treatment group was additionally treated with compound E-jiao oral liquid twice a day and 40 ml each time.Peripheral hemogram,KPS score and questionnaire of life quality were observed at the day before chemotherapy,and the first day,seventh days after chemotherapy and the day before the second cycle of chemotherapy.Results At the first and the seventh day after chemotherapy,the white blood cell count [the value was (5.315±1.401) × 109/L,(5.011±1.541) × 109/L in the treatment group respectively; and (4.621 ± 1.012) × 109/L,(4.127± 1.061) × 109/L in the control group respectively],KPS score [the value was (70.513±8.217),(85.000±7.168) in the treatment group respectively; and (65.147±7.102),(70.198±9.511) in the control group respectively]and quality of life [the value was (69.781 ±8.217),(80.000±7.521) in the treatment group respectively and (64.911±7.412),(68.011±8.542) in the control group respectively] showed significant differences (P＜0.05).At the day before the second cycle of chemotherapy,two groups showed significant differences in the white blood cell count,hemoglobin,platelet count,KPS score and quality of life [the values were (5.584±1.591)× 109/L,(118.891±14.213)g/L,(212.097± 114.769) × 109/L,(88.641±3.019),and (79.541 ±3.121) in the treatment group respectively; the values were (3.937± 1.013) × 109/L,(99.143± 11.351) g/L,(180.219±61.643) × 109/L,(75.463±9.871),and (72.219±7.462) in the control group respectively] (P＜0.05).Conclusion Compound E-Jiao oral liquid has a protective effect on peripheral hemogram of patients treated with chemotherapy,besides its significantly improving the life quality of these patients. Discussion on concepts of ‘interaction between the heart and the kidney' and‘ non-interaction between the heart and the kidney' in the teaching material of traditional Chinese medicine

There are some problems in the definitions of 'interaction between the heart and the kidney' and 'non-interaction between the heart and the kidney' made in the teaching material of traditional Chinese medicine used by western medicine institutes,colleges and universities.In the teaching material,it explains 'interaction between the heart and the kidney' as the relation between heart fire and kidney water,and 'non-interaction between the beart and the kidney' as the relation between heart-yin and kidney-yin.If we cannot correctly understand the pathogenesis of 'non-interaction between the heart and the kidney',we will fail to determine the concrete treatment method for ' coordinating the heart and the kidney'.Through the analysis and discussion on the theory,clinical syndrome,therapeutic principles and prescriptions for the syndrome of disharmony between the heart and the kidney,the authors draw the conclusion that the therapy for this disease should be determined according to the excess and deficiency of the heat fire and kidney water.For instance,if the deficient kidney water cant ascend to coordinate with the heart and results in exuberance of heart fire,Huanglian Ejiao decoction should be used; in the other situation,if the exuberant heart-fire can't descend to coordinate with the kidney and results in deficiency of kidney yang,Jiaotai Pill should be used.The theoretical results could standardize textbook and give better service to the clinical education. Research on the impact of compound E-Jiao slurry (CEJS) plus cyclophosphamide in the inhibition rate of lewis pulmonary carcinoma in mice

Objective To investigate the effects of Compound E-Jiao Slurry (CEJS) and Cyclophosphamide (CTX) on the inhibition of Lewis pulmonary carcinoma xenografts. Methods Tumor xenografts models were prepared and randomly divided into six groups by weight, including the control group,CTX, CEJS with the dosages of high, middle and low, with a total of ten mice in each group. The control mice were given normal saline 0.4ml by intragastric administration once daily, with a total of twelve times; The mice of CTX group were given CTX 0.2 ml by intraperitoneal injection every other day, with a total of six times; The mice of CEJS group were given CEJS 0.2 ml and saline 0.2 ml by intragastric administration; The mice of combination therapy group 1 were given CEJS 0.4 ml by intragastric administration once daily, and CTX 0.2 ml by intraperitoneal injection every other day; The mice of combination therapy group 2 were given CEJS 0.2 ml by intragastric administration once daily, and CTX 0.2 ml by intraperitoneal injection every other day; The mice of combination therapy group 3 were given CEJS 0.1 ml by intragastric administration once daily, and CTX 0.2 ml by intraperitoneal injection every other day. The weight of tumor xenografts were measured in the experiment,the inhibition rate of tumor xenografts were calculated according to the data after the dissection. Results The combination groups and CTX alone have an inhibition rate of over 50%, and the CEJS group 25.88%. In every experimental group, the weight of tumor showed statistical significance compared with the control (P 0.05). Conclusion CEJS can't obviously enhance the sensitivity of tumor xenografts to CTX, but there is a trend for tumor inhibition. Effects of compound E-Jiao Slurry(CEJS)on the expression of VEGF in mice with lewis lung carcinoma

Objective To observe the effects of CEJS combined with chemotherapy on the expression of VEGF in lewis lung carcinoma.Methods Tumor xenografts models were set up and randomly divided into five groups including control group,CTX CEJS,high-dose CEJS joint CTX(combination group 1),and middle-dose CEJS joint CTX(combination group 2).Paraffin imbedding and HE staining were performed,and the tissue Shape was observed by microscope after section.The expressions of VEGF in five groups were determined by immuno-histochemistry.Results The expression level of VEGF could be significantly down-regulated in CTX or combination group 1 and 2,compared with the control group(P＜0.05):CEJS group had no significant difference to the control group(P＞0.05);The average optical density in the combination group 1 and 2 showed no significantly difference to the CTX group(P＞0.05).Conclusion The inhibition of CEJS could not down regulate of the expression of VEGF,but CEJS could keep the affection of chemotherapy drugs on VEGF.
