CAUSAL FACTORS IN RFID TECHNOLOGY UTILIZATION INFLUENCING BUSINESS SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT EFFICIENCY THROUGH LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT PROCESS A CASE STUDY OF FROZEN FOOD INDUSTRY IN THAILAND

The objective of this research was to study the impact on supply chain efficiency. RFID technology utilization was an independent variable. Logistics management was an intermediary variable, while supply chain management efficiency was the dependent variable. Samples consisted of 315 medium- and large-sized IT executives or professionals in the frozen food industry selected by objective stratified sampling. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM), which applied model structure in hypothetical models testing. Results indicated that the model was proportional where all the regression assumptions were accepted with p value < 0.05. The results of the consistency and harmony checked were consistent with the empirical data and the subcomponents of the structural model, with the value /df. = 2.516, GFI = 0.942, AGFI = 0.899, RMR = 0.60, RMSEA = 0.69, NFI = 0.975, CFI = 0.984 (p-value < 0.01). It was found that RFID technology utilization had no direct impact on the efficiency of supply chain however, indirect effects were also shown in logistics management. It was stated that RFID technology should be utilized in the organizations with proper logistics management.

Sustainable supply chain management challenges analysis in local plastic recycling business

Sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) has become the key concept for every industry in managing their supply chain system by focusing on three aspects: economics, social, and environmental. Even though the implementation of SSCM will help the industry increase the efficiency of supply chain management, some challenges make the firms cannot implement the SSCM concept well and unsuccessful. The challenges of SSCM implementation need to be identified and managed to overcome these challenges and increase the efficiency of SSCM management. Therefore, this study aims to identify and analyze the challenges to SSCM implementation in the case of the local plastic recycling business in Thailand. The questionnaire was used to collect data from plastic recycling business experts. The best-worst method was used to analyze the significant challenges and prioritize ranking the SSCM implementation challenges. The results of this research found that management challenges are the first rank which lack of the policy and strategy for SSCM is a critical sub-challenge in the management dimension. The financial challenges are the second rank for SSCM due to the local plastic recycling business still being faced with financial constraints, which is the critical sub-challenges in the financial dimension, and the technology challenges are ranked last, which presented that it is less critical for SSCM in the local scale. Identifying and Managing Risks in High-Tech Supply Networks using Explainable Artificial Intelligence

Supply chains have become vital in enabling the smooth movement of material and information in the swiftly changing high-tech industries. By utilising technological innovations like automation and AI, supply chains may improve both safety and effectiveness at every level of the process, from manufacturing to sustainability. The necessity to adjust operations, give the adoption of technology top priority for resilience, and improve supply chain management efficiency. Transformation of the Supply Chain is becoming a choice of subject, when it comes to maintain the ideal inventory levels and Just in Time service deliveries. Both AI and ML are the utmost importance for the maintenance of the inventory or service through the technology. It not only helps in reducing the loss of opportunity costs, but also it resolves the issue of overstocks of any inventory and the enhanced level of service delivery. This ultimately results in the optimum utilization of the resources through the help of technology. Moreover, it is the win-win situation for the customer and provider. Even while technology has only recently begun to be incorporated into supply chains, the manufacturing and distribution sectors have adopted it more quickly, emphasising the need for effective risk identification and mitigation techniques. Notwithstanding the possible advantages of transforming the supply chain, there are obstacles and limitations that make an entire technological shift complex. The chapter also explores the concept explainable AI which can be understood as the set of techniques that makes the decision-making processes of AI systems comprehensible to humans. Acknowledging the inherent complexities and relationships within these chains, the goal of this chapter is to explore risk identification and management in high-tech supply networks. A competent and nimble stakeholder base can manage the complex landscape of the high-tech world through the incorporation of innovative technologies, proactive actions, and constructive alliances.

The Application of Big Data Technology in Supply Chain Cost Control: The Case of IKEA

Abstract: Supply chain management is important in all aspects of business processes. With the advent of the information age, big data technology has become important in developing all aspects of our country. Appropriate use of big data technology in supply chain cost management by enterprises can not only improve their ability to analyse and master data but also timely control the cost expenditure issues in different links of the supply chain, improve management systems, and enhance the companys core competitiveness. In order to improve the efficiency and accuracy of supply chain management, this study explores the application of big data technology in enterprise supply chain cost control and data analysis. This study uses big data as the background to analyse the costs of several important links in the supply chain of IKEA. It combines the discovered problems with big data technology to improve them, hoping to be helpful to the development of IKEA and related industries.

Optimizing the Agricultural Supply Chain Through the Internet + Model: Enhancing Efficiency with a Case Study of TikTok

This study uses the TikTok platform as a case study to explore the application of the Internet+ model in the agricultural supply chain and analyses the impact of Internet+ model on improving supply chain efficiency and reducing costs. With the development of science and technology, Internet+ has become an important trend in modern industry, which deeply integrates traditional agriculture with information technology and promotes the innovation and efficiency of supply chain management. This study not only discusses the practical application of the Internet + model in agriculture but also proposes to solve the bottlenecks in the traditional agricultural supply chain using logistics informatization, intelligent scheduling system, cold chain monitoring and intelligent warehouse management. Through case studies, the effectiveness of Internet technology in optimizing the supply chain, improving the circulation efficiency of agricultural products and reducing costs are verified, providing theoretical and case study support for promoting the development of agricultural modernization.

Enhancing Supply Chain Management Through Artificial Intelligence: A Case Study of JD Logistics

With the intensification of global economic competition, enterprises face the challenge of improving the supply chain management efficiency, and AI technology, as an emerging field in computer science, can provide effective solutions. As a leading e-commerce logistics service provider in China, JD Logistics has accumulated a wealth of logistics technology capabilities and digital transformation experience within and outside the JD Group. Using JD Logistics as a case study, this paper discusses the application of AI technology in supply chain management and its impact on enterprise responsiveness and operational efficiency. AI technology has significantly improved the supply chain operational efficiency and responsiveness of JD Logistics by applying intelligent supply chain planning, predictive analysis and intelligent decision-making. The Impact of Blockchain Technology on E-commerce Product Development: Case Studies of Walmart and LVMH

In the current digital era, the emergence of blockchain technology has profoundly impacted business models, especially in e-commerce. Blockchain technology brings new opportunities and challenges to product sales, transactions, and management. This study examines the impact of blockchain technology on the development of e-commerce products, particularly through the cases of Walmart and Louis Vuitton (LVMH). It demonstrates the application of blockchain and its effects on product traceability, anti-counterfeiting verification, data transparency and privacy protection. It was found that blockchain technology improves data security and user trust, reduces transaction costs, and enhances supply chain management efficiency. However, blockchain also needs help regarding energy consumption, performance bottlenecks, privacy protection, inconsistent technical standards, and unclear laws and regulations. It is necessary to take appropriate measures to reduce risks and ensure the effective application of technology. This study concludes with a series of recommendations to promote the effective application of blockchain technology in e-commerce to facilitate the e-commerce industry's sustainable development.

Разработка подхода к интегрированному планированию в цепочках поставок приборостроительной отрасли

Purpose: the article proposes an approach to integrated planning in supply chains of the instrument-making industry, aimed at improving the efficiency of coordination between their main participants. Methods: the study used methods of system analysis, statistical analysis and expert assessments, which made it possible to evaluate current approaches to planning and propose an approach to integrated planning based on modern digital technologies used in the performance of the planning function. To obtain the results of the study, official statistical data on the productivity and economic indicators of the instrument-making industry, data on logistics operations and supply chains of various enterprises in the industry were used. Results: the main scientific result is the approach to the development of integrated planning in supply chains developed by the author. The study also provided practical recommendations on the use of management methods at different stages of the formation of an integrated planning system. Practical significance: the practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying the proposed recommendations at enterprises of the instrument-making industry to improve the efficiency of supply chain management. The implementation of the developed methods will allow enterprises to adapt to dynamic market conditions, reduce costs and improve coordination of the actions of private logistics chain participants. The results of the study can be used to develop and improve planning systems in organizations in the instrument-making industry.

The impact of cost leadership strategy and differentiation strategy on supply chain management efficiency

The present study aimed to investigate the impact of two of the most commonly used strategies (i.e., cost leadership strategy and differentiation strategy) on the supply chain management efficiency (SCME) of companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE). The data about 215 companies were analyzed during 2014–2021. The sale per inventory ratio was used to calculate SCME. The study focused on cost leadership strategy and differentiation strategy. The results showed that cost leadership strategy and differentiation strategy have a significant and positive effect on SCME. Hypothesis testing based on the robustness checks confirmed these findings. In spite of the growing interest in supply chain management, there is little research on emerging economies compared to developed economies. There is also a significant gap of research on how business strategy could influence the performance of supply chains. The present findings will not only help company managers in developing countries, but due to the lack of similar research, they are of great help to managers in developed countries and the global community.

Internal control effectiveness, supply chain management efficiency and capital allocation efficiency: evidence from the COVID-19 pandemic

PurposeThe present study aims to investigate the impact of internal control effectiveness on supply chain management efficiency (SCME) and capital allocation efficiency for companies listed in the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE). In addition, it investigates the mediating role of supply chain management efficiency in the relationship between internal controls and capital allocation efficiency.Design/methodology/approachThe data about 191 companies in 2014–2022 were examined. The sales per inventory ratio was used to calculate SCME. The present study also applied the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) for endogeneity concerns.FindingsThe results showed that internal control effectiveness has a significant positive effect on SCME. Moreover, internal control effectiveness and SCME significantly positively affect capital allocation efficiency. SCME has a mediating role in the relationship between internal control effectiveness and capital allocation efficiency. These findings remained robust even after several robustness tests. In addition, this study tested the results' robustness by dividing data into the pre-COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 years. The previous results were also confirmed according to the robustness test of COVID-19.Originality/valueChallenges in the supply chain often hinder capital allocation efficiency. In addition, enterprises should try to establish strong internal controls to ensure SCME. Therefore, the relationship between internal control effectiveness, SCME and capital allocation efficiency is complex and underscores the importance of robust internal controls in optimizing resource allocation within organizations. Interestingly, this topic has not been extensively researched in accounting and business research, and there is a lack of empirical evidence on these effects. Consequently, this study aims to fill the gap and identify potential opportunities for new research directions.

Blockchain and smart contracts for supply chain transparency and vendor management

Blockchain technology and smart contracts are emerging as transformative tools for enhancing transparency and efficiency in supply chain management and vendor relations. Traditional supply chains often face challenges such as inefficiencies, lack of transparency, and susceptibility to fraud (Kouhizadeh & Sarkis, 2018). Blockchain, a decentralized ledger technology, coupled with smart contracts, which are self-executing contracts with the terms directly written into code, offers promising solutions to these challenges (Wang, Han, & Beynon-Davies, 2019). This paper explores the application of blockchain and smart contracts in these domains, examining their potential to provide immutable records, streamline processes, and mitigate risks (Casado-Vara et al., 2018). Through a comprehensive analysis of current literature and case studies, we identify key benefits including improved transparency, enhanced efficiency, and better risk management (Christidis & Devetsikiotis, 2016; Tian, 2016). Our findings suggest that blockchain and smart contracts can significantly improve supply chain transparency and vendor management, though their implementation requires careful consideration of technical, regulatory, and organizational factors (Saberi et al., 2019). Notable case studies, such as Walmart’s blockchain pilot for food safety and De Beers' diamond tracking initiative, illustrate the practical benefits and challenges of adopting these technologies in real-world scenarios (Casino, Dasaklis, & Patsakis, 2019; Kshetri, 2018). Despite the promising outlook, further research is needed to address scalability, interoperability, and regulatory compliance issues to fully realize the potential of blockchain and smart contracts in supply chain management (Hughes et al., 2019).

Application of Business Intelligence Technology Model to Sustainable Supply Chain

Under the backdrop of globalization, sustainable supply chains are becoming one of the most important directions for commercial development in the future. The efficiency of supply chain management (SCM) will be significantly improved when business intelligence is used in the supply chain. Sustainable supply chain refers to the integration of sustainable development elements on the basis of traditional supply chain management, introducing the assessment and management of social, environmental, economic benefits and other risks. The aim of this paper is to look at how different BI techniques affect different business models. Most of this paper is a summary of previous scholars work. The most successful and widespread application of BI is the final outcome of the technology acceptance model. These three BI models have different effects on sustainable supply chains, but in general, BI is very helpful for sustainable supply chain development in all aspects. Future results would be much more accurate and effective if three techniques were actually able to monitor and compare the sustainability of supply chains.

Effective SCM practices help mitigate risks related to delays, cost overruns, and quality issues. Operational efficiency in affordable housing focuses on optimizing construction processes, minimizing waste, and enhancing productivity. This involves adopting best practices in construction management, such as lean construction techniques, modular and prefabricated building methods, and advanced project management tools. Operational efficiency also extends to the management of workforce resources, ensuring that labor is effectively utilized and that productivity is maximized. The review integrates insights from various case studies and industry reports to illustrate how SCM and operational efficiency practices can be applied in affordable housing projects. For instance, the adoption of just-in-time inventory systems and the use of technology for real-time tracking and coordination have proven effective in reducing costs and improving delivery times. Additionally, lean construction methods have demonstrated their potential in enhancing project efficiency and reducing waste. However, challenges remain, including supply chain disruptions, fluctuating material costs, and coordination issues among stakeholders. Integration of Information Technology and Machine Learning to Improve the Efficiency of IoT-Based Logistics Systems

In today's digital era, efficiency in supply chain management and logistics is the main key to maintaining business competitiveness. This article discusses the integration of Information Technology (IT) and Machine Learning (ML) in Internet of Things (IoT)-based logistics systems to improve operational efficiency. By leveraging IoT sensors for real-time data collection and ML algorithms for predictive analysis, the system is able to optimize inventory management, route planning, and preventive maintenance. The case studies discussed in this article show that the use of ML in IoT-based logistics systems can reduce delivery times, lower operational costs, and increase responsiveness to changes in market demand. The results of this study are expected to provide insight for system developers and logistics managers in implementing advanced technologies to address challenges in the modern logistics industry.

Supply chain risks and geographical supplier distribution strategy

AbstractThis study empirically examines the impact of supply chain risks on the corporate strategy of the geographical distribution of suppliers, by employing text analysis to procure firm‐level supply chain risk data. The findings indicate that, as supply chain risks intensify, firms are inclined to opt for geographically closer suppliers. Heterogeneity studies suggest that the effect of supply chain risks on the selection of geographically proximate suppliers is more pronounced within firms characterised by intense competition, low supplier concentration, low switching costs and in non‐state‐owned enterprises. Further analysis identifies that the supply chain risks, which drive strategies for firms to utilise a geographically proximate supplier distribution, stem from various sources. Each of these sources varies in its impact on a firm's strategies. Tests of economic consequences reveal that, in scenarios of heightened supply chain risks, firms' strategic geographic adjustments in supplier selection can favourably impact their supply chain management efficiency and operational risk.

Response of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Facilitating Cross-Border Movement of Essential Supplies During the COVID-19 Pandemic

COVID-19 pandemic is a global crisis that did not only affect humans but also the global economy, causing a lot of struggles in both the society and the government. The efficient facilitation of cross-border goods in situations like this is very essential as this provides access to food and other important goods. However, given the creation of the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) No. 01-2020, an order expediting the clearance of relief consignments that enter the Philippines during a state of calamity, questions have been raised if the implemented facilitation of cross-border goods were effective or not. Anchoring from JAO No. 01-2020, the study aimed at measuring the works done by customs brokers in facilitating the cross-border movement of essential supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also assessed the level of effectiveness of the measures implemented by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in facilitating the cross-border movement of essential supplies during COVID-19 pandemic. Employing descriptive-survey design, and snowball non-random sampling technique, the study employed 31 customs brokers as respondents of the study. All respondents have transacted or handled essential supplies from the port of entry at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) before and during the pandemic. Frequency count and weighted mean were used to analyze the data. Based on the results, the measures stated in JAO 01-2020 were rated “applied” by the respondents. Specifically, the Duty and Tax Treatment for Relief Consignments, the Expediting Clearance and Movement of Containers, and the Regular Processing of Relief Consignment during a Local State of Calamity were all rated "applied". While the Simplified Cargo Clearance Process for Relief Consignment was rated "highly applied". In term of effectiveness, the “Duty and Tax Treatment for Relief Consignments," the “Expediting Clearance and Movement of Containers," the "Simplified Cargo Clearance Process for Relief Consignment", and "the Regular Processing of Relief Consignment during a Local State of Calamity" were all rated “effective” by the respondents. These findings suggest that the measures indicated in JAO No. 01-2020 were effectively implemented by the customs brokers. However, there may be areas for improvement, particularly in streamlining processes and addressing logistical challenges to further enhance the effectiveness and efficiency in supply chain management during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.

Developing industry clusters based on 4As to support agritourism competitiveness

Abstract Competitive agritourism thrives on the pillars of the Attraction, Accessibility, Ancillary, and Amenity (4As), serving as fundamental cornerstones in tourism industry. Nonetheless, most agritourism continue to be entrenched in conventional management practices, exposing them to prevalent agricultural risks. Elevating this landscape necessitates a transformative approach. This article aims to analyze the linkages between the 4As and industry clusters in driving sustainable agritourism. The methodology used in this study is a literature review. Industry clusters in agritourism are important due to their ability to utilize shared inputs, optimize business processes through integration and collaboration, and develop outputs through network expansion. Cooperation, coordination, collaboration, and communication are essential for the successful development and competitiveness of agritourism. The arrangement of accommodation in a particular location encourages collaboration, resource sharing, and economies of scale. Increased accessibility improves supply chain management efficiency and reduces costs through collaboration. The availability of well-designed amenities further enhances the attractiveness and competitiveness of agritourism destinations. From the perspective of attractions, collaboration among agritourism contributes to innovation, product development, and sustainable practices. Understanding these linkages can inform strategic decision-making processes and guide the development of policies that leverage the strengths of the 4As to promote sustainable agritourism development.

Design and Application of an IVD Reagent Management Information Systems Based on Unique Code

The management of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) reagents in hospitals often faces issues such as the lack of a unified coding system, unclear consumption patterns, and unknown cost-to-income ratios. It is necessary to employ information systems to achieve comprehensive, detailed, and traceable management of IVD reagents. An information management system for IVD reagents based on unique coding is introduced, which integrates admission, acceptance, and consumption processes through unique codes. The system calculates the income per experimental item based on the consumption of IVD reagents and the charge for each experimental item. The system enhances the efficiency of the IVD reagent supply chain management and promotes detailed oversight of IVD reagent usage.
