This study sought to investigate the moderating effect of grit on the impact of social stigma perceived by out-of-school youth on depression. For this purpose, 302 out-of-school youth were selected as research subjects. First, the results of analyzing the collected data. It was found that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between social stigma and depression in out-of-school youth. There was a statistically significant positive correlation between social stigma and grit, and depression and grit. Second, grit was found to have a significant influence as a moderating variable in the effect of social stigma on depression among out-of-school youth. Therefore, in order to reduce depression caused by social stigma perceived by out-of-school youth, it is very important to improve positive emotions such as grit in addition to compensating for vulnerabilities in the surrounding environment.

Domestic violence in developing countries: An evidence from Bangladesh

ABSTRACT Women all over the world face a multitude of issues daily. Unfortunately, one of the most common and tragic concerns that women face, especially those in third world countries, is domestic violence. This research paper has tried to find out and analyze the trend of domestic violence during this current period of lockdown and social distancing measures, which the COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated. During our investigations, a few variables intrigued us; these variables do not lead to a simple, uncomplicated conclusion on the occurrence of domestic violence. On the contrary, the pool of 350 respondents (especially from urban areas), which include homemakers and working women alike, education was one such variable that played a pivotal role in preventing domestic violence. Another variable was the effect of social stigma; because many women have internalized the impact of spousal and familial abuse, most of them find it incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to speak up about the struggles they face. We have made use of logistic regression models to verify the independent variables and their validity.

낙인이론에 따르면 일탈이라는 것은 행위자의 내적 특성이 아니라 주위로부터의 낙인에 의해 만들어진다고 한다. 즉 사회적 낙인감으로 인하여 일탈적인 행위나 부정적인 행동을 일으킬 수도 있다는 것이다. 학교밖 청소년의 경우 학업을 중단했다는 사실 그 자체로 쉽게 낙인이 대상이 될 수 있다. 그리고 이들의 사회적 낙인감은 부정적인 행동인 충동성이나 게임중독으로 이어질 가능성이 높다. 뿐만 아니라 많은 연구에서 충동성과 게임중독과의 관계가 있다고 보고 있어 본 연구에서는 사회적 낙인감이 충동성 및 게임중독에 영향을 미칠 것이라고 보며 사회적 낙인감이 게임중독에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 충동성의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 사회적 낙인감은 충동성에 유의미한 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 충동성은 게임중독에 유의미한 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 사회적 낙인감은 게임중독에 유의미한 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 사회적 낙인감은 게임중독에 영향을 미치며 그 과정에서 충동성이 매개효과가 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 매개효과의 검증을 위하여 붓스트래핑을 실시한 결과에서도 사회적 낙인감은 충동성을 매개하여 게임중독에 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다.

학교 밖 청소년이 지각한 부모의 학대가 사회적 낙인감을 매개로 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향: 성별 다중집단분석 적용

본 연구의 목적은 학교 밖 청소년이 지각한 부모의 학대가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향에서 사회적 낙인감의 매개효과를 검증하고, 그 효과가 성별에 따른 차이가 있는지 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한 학업중단청소년패널조사 2차년도 자료를 활용하여 총 594명을 대상으로 구조방정식모형 분석과 다중집단분석을 실시하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학교 밖 청소년이 지각한 부모의 학대는 삶의 만족도에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 낙인감의 부분매개효과가 확인되었다. 둘째, 성별에 따른 차이가 있는지 확인한 결과, 학교 밖 청소년이 지각한 부모의 학대가 사회적 낙인감에 미치는 영향은 남학생보다 여학생이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 부모의 학대가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향에서 사회적 낙인감의 매개효과는 남학생 집단에서 부분매개효과를 보인 반면에, 여학생 집단의 경우 완전매개효과가 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 학교 밖 청소년이 지각한 부모의 학대와 삶의 만족도의 관계에서 사회적 낙인감의 영향과 성별에 따른 차이가 지니는 의미에 대하여 논의하였다.

본 연구의 목적은 학교 밖 청소년들이 경험하는 사회적 낙인감이 스마트폰 중독에 미치는 영향력을 확인하고 충동성이 이들 관계를 유의하게 매개하는지를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위한 연구방법과 내용으로 학업중단 청소년 패널조사 2차년도(2014년) 자료를 사용하였으며, SPSS 21과 Amos 21을 활용해 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학교 밖 청소년이 인식하는 사회적 낙인감은 스마트폰 중독에 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학교 밖 청소년이 인식하는 사회적 낙인감이 높아질수록 충동성이 높아지며, 이는 다시 스마트폰 중독을 높여 부분 매개효과가 확인되었다. 따라서 학교 밖 청소년의 스마트폰 중독 문제를 줄이기 위해서 사회적 낙인 감소 캠페인, 학교 밖 청소년의 성공 사례에 대한 사회적 공유 그리고 자기 통제와 조절 지원 프로그램 확대와 같은 정책적 실천적 노력이 요구된다.

본 연구는 학교 밖 청소년들이 경험하는 사회적 낙인감이 스마트폰 중독에 미치는 영향을 진로장애의 매개효과를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 학교 밖 청소년들은 정규 학업 중단 이후 사회적 낙인감과 진로장애로 적응에 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 이는 스마트폰과 같은 디지털 기기의 중독을 높일 수 있는 요인으로 제시되고 있기 때문이다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원이 조사한 학업중단 청소년 패널조사 2차 년도(2014년) 자료를 활용하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학교 밖 청소년이 인식하는 사회적 낙인감, 진로장애, 스마트폰 중독은 통계적으로 유의미한 정적인 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학교 밖 청소년이 인식하는 사회적 낙인감은 스마트폰 중독을 높이는 위험요인임을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 사회적 낙인감은 진로장애를 높이고, 높아진 진로장애는 다시 스마트폰 중독을 높이는 부분매개 효과가 있음이 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 스마트폰 중독의 원인이 개인적 요소만이 아니라 청소년들이 처한 상황적 맥락과 긴밀하게 연결되어 있음을 보여준다. 따라서 학교 밖 청소년의 스마트폰 중독 문제 예방을 위해서는 기존의 위험 요인을 줄이기 위한 노력과 함께 사회적 낙인감을 줄이기 위한 적극적인 프로그램이 필요함을 시사한다. 또한 스마트폰 중독에 직접적인 매개효과를 보이는 진로장애 문제를 완화하기 위한 서비스와 정책이 마련되어야 함을 의미한다. 정규 학업 중단 이후 청소년들의 경험을 고려한 학교 밖 청소년의 스마트폰 중독 문제 해결을 위해 연구결과에 기반하여 이론적, 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

학교 밖 청소년의 부모지지 및 또래지지가 우울증상에 미치는 종단적 영향과 사회적 낙인감의 매개효과

본 연구는 학교 밖 청소년의 사회적 낙인감과 이후 초기 성인기의 우울증상 예방을 궁극적 목표로, 학교 밖 청소년이 지각한 부모지지와 또래지지, 사회적 낙인감이 이후 초기 성인기의 우울증상에 미치는 영향과 더불어 사회적 낙인감의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 본 연구는 한국청소년정책연구원의 학업중단청소년패널 1차~5차년도 조사에 참여한 776명(남아 444명)의 청소년을 분석 대상에 포함하였으며, 자료를 분석하기 위해 기술통계분석을 실시한 후 경로모형을 적용하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 학업중단 초기 부모지지와 또래지지는 학업중단 2년 후 경험하는 사회적 낙인감에 직접적으로 부적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 이는 성인 초기 우울증상에 직접적으로 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 학업중단 초기 부모지지와 또래지지는 성인 초기 우울증상에 직접적인 영향을 미치지는 않았으나 학업중단 2년 후 경험한 사회적 낙인감을 매개로 하여 성인 초기 우울증상에 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 학업중단 이후 학교 밖 청소년의 적응을 지원하기 위한 프로그램을 개발함에 있어 중요한 기초 자료를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

Effects of Social Stigma on the Sick People of COVID-2019 in the Community of the World

Social stigma is the fear and terror which disturb the function of the mind and latter on affect the other system of the body. Seeing to its importance the present study was arranged since 13th, May, 2020. The major objective was that to see the effects of social stigma on the sick people of COVID2019 in the community of the world. Secondary data was used and total 25 articles were downloaded from the net and read many times and analyzed the situation and wrote the result. The result indicates that social stigma and covid-2019 have a positive relationship. The Corona is not so danger but the social stigma creates different problems in the community of the world which not only kill the human being but also affect their socioeconomic condition and ruin the economy of the world. The people feel terror and fear and because of this mind disturb which further affect other function of the human being which latter on affect the economic development of the world. The social stigma is link with different factors, such as racism, tobacco, poverty. nationalism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, ageism, fake media, less fund, less medical facilities, less doctors, less transport facilities. Non Locked down of boundaries, and Good supervision. So WHO explain that only listen to those media which are true and avoid that media which is fake in the world. Now a day on YouTube different type videos are uploaded but everyone only focus on the view and want that how to increase their view about COVID-2019 for earn the money. Such types Videos topic create terror and increase the heart attack in the world. So think about the media how much the information is correct. The study also explains that one approach should be applied for pandemic control in the world. Do not see to racism, nationalism, ageism and sexism but only focus on the problem control of COVID-2019. Similarly Such types stereotypes persons create social stigma in the world community which resist in real problem solution. They focus only their nation but cannot thinking of the world humanity. Through this way problem increases and the pandemics spread to the whole world then control is difficult. So the study recommend that to stand unite against the problems solution and give respect to health services department because in this time they work like the front line soldier. During treatment the virus mostly infect the Doctors and their staffs, so encouragement is required by government of the world and one step promotion is recommended for that staffs, who involve against corona virus fighting. Also help those people who before were employed but now they are unemployed. Through unemployment the social stigma increases. Fake Generalist should be punished by each government of the world. Community awareness should be advertised by social media. Always help the government in funding for medical facilities. Through this way social stigma should be controlled. Principles of the pandemic should be taught at soft language through media. Do not afraid from pandemic but encourage to people of the world for COVID-2019. Do not create social stigma in the community of the world but try for its solution because it is the social stigma which have affected the people of the world and its economy.

학업중단 청소년의 사회적 낙인감이 우울에 미치는 영향: 자아탄력성의 조절효과를 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 학업중단 청소년의 사회적 낙인감이 우울에 미치는 영향에서 자아탄력성의 조절효과를 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 조사한 학업중단 청소년 패널조사 4차년도(2016년) 데이터를 활용하였다. 분석 대상은 일반 학업중단 청소년 213명이다. 분석결과 학업중단 청소년의 사회적 낙인감은 우울에 정적인 영향을 미치며, 학업중단 청소년의 사회적 낙인감이 우울에 미치는 영향에서 자아탄력성의 조절효과가 검증되었다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 학업중단 청소년이 지각하는 사회적 낙인감이 우울에 미치는 영향을 완화하기 위해 청소년의 자아탄력성 증진 방안을 논의하였다. 그리고 학업중단 청소년 개인차원의 지원과 권리의식 증진, 가족의 지지, 학업중단 청소년에 대한 사회적 인식 개선 등 실천적, 정책적 방안을 제시하였다.

Marriage migrants’ use of social media

ABSTRACTThis study analyzed the role and impact of social media use on the daily lives of marriage migrants. We empirically examined a moderated mediation model by surveying 201 marriage migrants. This study focused on four key concepts: social stigma, empowerment, self-stigma, and social networks forged via social media such as Facebook, Kakao Talk, LINE, and Viber. The results confirmed that the detrimental effect of social stigma can be mitigated by robust social networks, and a greater feeling of empowerment resulted in less self-stigma. Consequently, social networks through social media acted as a buffer against negative public opinion or any belittling views. Furthermore, solid social networks were linked to feelings of support and empowerment.

Including the Excluded: Effects of Social Stigma on the Socio-Educational Development of Deaf Persons in Limbe City Council Area, South West Region, Cameroon

<em>This study based on the inclusion of Deaf persons in the mainstream investigated the effects of social stigma on the socio-educational development of Deaf Persons in Limbe City Area of the South West Region of Cameroon. The forms of stigma assessed were limited to: cultural beliefs and, labelling. The study made use of a correlation survey design. A sample of thirty-one Deaf persons, sixteenparents and thirty-one neighbours making a total of 78 participants were selected to take part in the study using the snowball sampling technique study. The instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire using Rensis Likert scale of measurement. Data collected were analyzed quantitatively with the use of frequency counting and advanced inferential tests like Chi-Square, Cox and Snell R Square. The explanatory power of the Integrated Value Mapping (IVM) comprising all the two predictors (cultural beliefs and labelling) summarized as social stigma was 96.9% and the variability explained was significant (P=0.000). It was therefore concluded that social stigma has an effect on the socio-educational development of Deaf person since the overall agreement was highly significant (P=0.000). It is recommended that special educators organize seminars or use mass media to educate the public on the need to change cultural beliefs as a means to include Deaf persons in the mainstream society. The government needs to declare sign language compulsory to all citizens so that Deaf persons can have a sense of belonging and maximally socialize wherever they find themselves. This will enable Deaf persons to feel loved and thus cause them to contribute significantly to social progress.</em>

The Effect of Social Stigma on Suicidal Ideation of Male HIV Infected People: Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Hope and Depression

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of hope and depression applied on the influence of social stigma on suicidal ideation of 108 HIV infected males. Methods: This study was a descriptive, crosssectional design that used a survey approach. Data collection was one-on-one interviews by a counseling nurse from July 2012 to January 2013. The survey included questions about social stigma, hope, depression, and suicidal ideation. Results: Fitness of the hypothetical model was appropriate (x 2 /df=1.97, TLI=.97, CFI=.98, RMSEA=.07, SRMR=.04). Social stigma had no direct effect on suicidal ideation but had a significant indirect effect on suicidal ideation via hope and depression. Hope had a mediating effect the relationship between stigma and depression but no direct effect on the relationship between stigma and suicidal ideation. Hope had an indirect effect on suicidal ideation via depression. Stigma and hope accounted for 41% of depression was where as suicidal ideation was explained 56.3% by depression, hope, and stigma. Conclusion: In order to reduce depression and suicidal ideation of HIV infected people, stigma improving strategies are required. And hope intervention for HIV infected people may decrease their suicidal ideation and depression.

The effect of social stigma on fare evasion in Stockholm's public transport

This study examines if there is any social stigma associated with ticket-controls in Stockholm's subway. We used a survey-based model that measures the willingness to pay for a subway card given different types and number of ticket-controls. By comparing the willingness to pay between the different scenarios we obtained the perceived social stigma in local currency (SEK). Our main result is an increase in the willingness to pay for a subway card of SEK 612 per year when controls are associated with social stigma. However, already fare evading respondents do not react as heavily to social stigma as non-fare evaders. These finding suggest that investing in more stigmatizing ticket controls is not preferable since fare evaders will not be affected by it.

The psychological aspects of coping with being accused of sexual offences

The effects of stigmatisation regarding sex abuse and rape crimes have rarely been studied. This present study explores the effects of social stigma by examining coping style, thought suppression, depression and anxiety in those falsely accused of sex crimes compared with those convicted of sex crimes. A total of 60 males volunteered to complete a questionnaire. The questionnaires were given to participants from organisations that support people falsely accused and people who have been found guilty of sexual offending. The findings indicate that falsely accused individuals employ an emotion‐focused coping strategy significantly more than convicted sex offenders.
