Application and Impact of Constructivism in Learning: A Tertiary Study

<p><em>The application of constructivist theories in literature reviews, particularly at the tertiary level, remains largely unexplored. This study aims to identify relevant literature reviews, what are their methodological features, and what are their objectives and subject matter regarding the application and impact of constructivism in learning. The method used in this tertiary study is systematic review. The purpose of the systematic review in this tertiary study research is to provide a careful summary of all available secondary research (literature review) in answering the research questions. In this study, researchers collected journal articles from Google Scholar, Eric, Science Direct, and Scopus online published in the period of 2014 to 2023. Based on the results of the collection and selection of articles by the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles were obtained. The article consists of 6 types of reviews, from 9 countries published in 15 Scopus and Sinta indexed journals. The results of this review show that the application of constructivism is carried out in learning activities in multi-disciplines. The impact of the application of constructivism is to improve learning outcomes, academic achievement, learning attitudes, and the effectiveness of learning activities.</em><em></em></p>

Cross sectional survey of attitudes on sustainability and climate change among baccalaureate nursing faculty and students

BackgroundNurse educators are critical to ensuring future nurses are prepared to meet healthcare needs due to climate change. AimThe purpose of this research was to assess the attitudes of nursing students and faculty on sustainability and climate change in nursing and nursing education. DesignThis study used a descriptive, cross-sectional online survey of nursing students and faculty recruited online and at national conferences. SettingsOnline survey. ParticipantsA convenience sample of students and faculty were recruited from a national student nursing convention and a national meeting of community health nursing educators along with the principal investigator's university. Additional faculty were recruited from national nursing education organization email listservs. Eligibility criteria included adults 18 years or older who are enrolled students or faculty in an undergraduate nursing program. MethodsParticipants completed the Sustainability Attitudes in Nursing Survey (SANS_2) survey online. Survey responses were downloaded and analyzed using IBM SPSS. ResultsIndependent sample Mann-Whitney U tests of responses from faculty and students was significantly different, p = 0.047, for the question “Issues about climate change should be included in the nursing curriculum”. Comparison of SANS_2 overall means from first-year nursing students in other countries showed lower mean scores among first-year U.S. students that climate and sustainability are important issues of nursing and nursing education. Comparison of faculty overall SANS_2 means found greater support for including climate change and sustainability among U.S. nursing faculty when compared with faculty from South Carolina. ConclusionsThe results of the survey found differences in support among baccalaureate faculty and students for including climate change and sustainability in nursing education. Additional research into the effectiveness of learning activities needs to be done by nurse educators and researchers as part of on-going efforts to ensure future nursing students understand the impact of climate change on health.

APPLICATION OF THE MOODLE LEARNING PLATFORM IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES

The topic of using the Moodle learning platform in teaching foreign languages has become increasingly important in the context of the development of digital technologies in education and their integration into the learning process. The issue of teaching a foreign language lies in the effectiveness of learning activities by using verbal and non-verbal means of communication. The article aims to analyze the advantages and quality of using the Moodle learning platform for teaching a foreign language and the possibility of its further development in a dynamic educational environment. The research methodology is based on a critical analysis, evaluation of statistical information on using the digital learning platform, as well as the introduction of various deductive research methods on the prospects for further development. The paper analyzes theoretical approaches to foreign language teaching. The authors carried out a statistical analysis of the platform's global development and possible prospects for its further expansion. In addition, they outlined the factors of usage and spread of digital technologies as a plug-in for learning a foreign language. The study revealed the main benefits of using the Moodle digital learning platform as an interactive tool for teaching a foreign language. It also suggested key aspects of its improvement and possible ways of further development. The article focused on the issues of using digital platforms for remote communication between students and teachers to maintain the effectiveness of the educational process and the possibility of further improvement by introducing this platform into the educational process. The obtained research findings describe the current state of the platform's use along with its technological capabilities and advantages for teaching foreign languages.

Integrasi Nilai-Nilai Profil Pelajar Pancasila dalam Pembelajaran PAI (Studi Kasus di SMAN 2 Tanjung)

Pancasila Student Profile as the basis for Independent Curriculum contains significant values in the development of excellent human resources. The aspect of independence in this curriculum does not mean the absent of responsibility in facilitating students, but instead a requirement for the learning activities to not limit the potential of students. The implementation of this latest curriculum requires a comprehensive integration of the values of the Pancasila Student Profile, which in this case is specified to Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). This study aims to identify the process of integrating the values of the Pancasila Student Profile in PAI at SMAN 2 Tanjung. Researchers used a qualitative approach through case study method and data analysis through descriptive analysis methods. The results showed that the integration of the values of the Pancasila Student Profile in PAI at SMAN 2 Tanjung has been well performed using the Webbed model by Fogarty, where the Pancasila Student Profile is the core theme in the learning. But the effectiveness of learning activities can be further improved by using more variation in methods and media of learning, so that students will be more enthusiastic on participating in learning at the class.

Thermal Tide Detection: A Case Study to Introduce Open Data Analysis in High School

Data analysis and interpretation has always played a fundamental role in the scientific curricula of high school students. The spread of digitalization has further increased the number of learning environments whereby this topic can be effectively taught: as a matter of fact, the ever-growing diffusion of data science across diverse sectors of academic research and economy has profoundly affected the orientation of the educational systems in many countries. In addition to this, the number and effectiveness of learning activities using data analysis and interpretation have been considerably enhanced by the diffuse availability of open data. In this paper, we propose a learning activity to introduce high school students to data analysis and interpretation; the aim is to detect the presence of atmospheric thermal tides starting from the analysis of surface pressure data obtained from open data sets available online. The activity is focused on three main educational goals: Pedagogical goal: developing a stronger awareness of the importance of scientific data literacy.Citizenship goal: fostering the access to free open data resources, hosted by national and international institutions.Learning goal: contributing to the acquisition of the basic skills to analyze experimental data, with particular regard to the time series analysis of environmental data.

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of applying a distance learning system during the Coronavirus pandemic in achieving continuing education, and determining to what extent it is possible to sustain distance learning as a replacement model for direct/face-to-face education from the teachers’ point of view. To achieve the objectives of the study, the two researchers used a purposive online survey for the teachers in the Gaza city schools who created virtual classes in the period from 21/8/2020 to 13/1/2021. The responses for the survey were from (195) teachers at a percentage of (6.5%) of the study population; (3000) teachers. The survey consisted of (27) closed-ended questions and took approximately (5) minutes to complete. In addition to 28 multiple-choice questions about the possibility of achieving the continuity of distance education in the future. Among the most important results of the study was: “the effectiveness of applying distance learning in Palestinian schools in the Gaza Strip” which was moderate from the teachers’ point of view. The arithmetic mean of the four dimensions ranged between (2.8 – 3.8) and the highest of these dimensions was “The effectiveness of learning platforms in distance learning online” and the least of these dimensions was “The effectiveness of learning activities in distance learning online”. There are (79%) of the participants who regard the distance learning system as not suitable and at the same time a weak alternative to the face-to-face education system in Gaza schools, so it is difficult to continue with implementing this type of education in the future schools.

Are Economics Learning Outcomes Influenced by Learning Motivation and Active Learning?

Education aims to educate students to become human beings who are knowledgeable, creative, independent, capable, noble and responsible, these goals can be achieved with learning motivation and active learning in learning so that the learning outcomes obtained are good, especially in economic subjects. The purpose of this study was to determine 1) the partial effect of learning motivation variables on economic learning outcomes, 2) the effect of learning activities on economic learning outcomes, 3) the simultaneous influence of learning motivation variables and learning activities on economic learning outcomes in class X IPS SMAN 1 Cerme. The sampling method used was purposive sampling so that a sample of 86 students was obtained. This study uses primary data obtained from questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that there is a partially significant positive effect between learning motivation on economic learning outcomes, and there is a significant positive influence on learning activity variables on learning outcomes variables. Also simultaneously there is a significant positive effect between learning motivation and learning activity on economic learning outcomes and with an Adjusted R-squared value of 0.380 the contribution of the independent variable is 38%

Learning factors can be influenced by activity factors that can affect the achievement of learning outcomes.
 Training factors so that students can understand the material that has been delivered, the atmosphere factor so that students can study calmly, the association factor that can provide a learning experience, the learning readiness factor in order to achieve maximum learning outcomes, the interest and effort factors must be in line so that students can learn optimally , physiological factors must be considered because physiological factors determine the success of students in learning, intelligence factors are very concerned about knowing how students think in making decisions.
 The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. For testing the first, second and third hypotheses using simple linear regression, while for the fourth hypothesis using multiple linear regression.
 Based on the data analysis and hypothesis testing that has been done, the conclusions in this study can be formulated as follows: There is an effect of learning activities and learning media together on the learning outcomes of Physical Education for Class VIII students of SMP N 1 Kalibaru Banyuwangi

Development of Course Booking System (Front-end & Back-end) Based on Mobile Application to Help Tutoring Elementary and Junior High School in Indonesia

Tutoring is informal education to help students who have problems outside of school. Students are helped to adjust to their learning situation so that they can develop efficiently according to their abilities. In Indonesia, there are still many students who do not understand the learning material delivered at school, so they must deepen the material outside of school learning. Especially since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the effectiveness of learning activities has decreased because the learning process is carried out online which results in less interactive learning. Therefore, the EduAlecta application was created which is engaged in digital-based education. The EduAlecta app can help teachers increase their income and connect with students who need tutoring outside of school hours. The EduAlecta application system has the advantage of applying GPS so that students can determine the study location they want and students can arrange the tutoring they ordered. The method used in the front-end design is user centered design and the back-end design method uses waterfall.

Effectiveness of Learning Activities in the Pandemic and Post Pandemic Era

For over two years, home learning during a pandemic has been experienced by almost all schools globally. Learning during a pandemic impacts not only teaching and learning in schools but also the load of learning materials that teachers must convey to students. Online learning becomes the choice as almost all teachers are encouraged to work from home, with students also having to learn from home. No one knows how long it will last and when it will end. Facts show that during a pandemic, not all students have the ability or capability to take online lessons. Additionally, teachers are also burdened with paying for the internet connection to teach, while basic needs such as food and clothing during the pandemic stay unfulfilled due to economic difficulties from the pandemic. In this study, a study was carried out to determine the level of learning effectiveness during a pandemic. Over 200 high school students became respondents in the study, and 50 teachers gave their opinions through questionnaires and interviews. The researchers used three analyses to identify the required strategic steps: performance analysis, GAP analysis, and the Analysis of Standards-Importance-Advice-Performance (ASIAP). The results were quite surprising, showing that most students want to return to school and follow normal learning, mainly due to internet connectivity issues and feeling that the non-interactive online learning materials are more difficult to understand. Another concern is that only a small number of students can concentrate well in the online learning process, while the remaining learning activities are mixed between school activities, home activities, and other unavoidable activities.

The Effect of Learning Activity Using Talking Pen to Improve Student Learning Motivation

Learning motivation was a studied manner from student and the first actor to certainly study result. Talking pen was learning for students to motivate them in sharing an opinion. The population of this research was all students of MTs. Nurul Jadid Mlandingan Situbondo, consisting of 58 students and the sample was using random sampling method by 10 students of VII- B and 15 students of VII-A. The instrument data collection used observation, interview, and test, the researcher analyzed normality test and homogeneity by (SPSS). From the test on mean VII A=0,76,00 more than 0,5. So in the research was normal, H1 was accepted and from VII B= 0,82,6 more than 0,5. So the research was normal, so H1 was accepted. For the homogeneity test where the test of pre-test was homogeneity, the significant was0,892. It means that the significance was more than 0,05, which H1 was accepted. Based on the test of post-test, the homogeneity significance was 0,136. It means that the significance was more than 0,05, so H1 was accepted. Based on the result of the t-test, the pre-test and post-test are significant. t-test must be under 0,05 and in the table are 0,000, So the effectiveness and H1 were accepted.

Improving Student Pharmacists' Learning Through the Use of Pediatric Simulation.

The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of low-fidelity simulation on students' confidence, knowledge, and skills in pediatric physical assessments, and to compare students' interest ratings of topics and effectiveness of learning activities between students' who experienced simulation and those who did not. Within a pediatric elective, a vital signs and physical assessment activity was re-designed to incorporate a low-fidelity heart and breath sounds simulator. Students rated their confidence in completing 9 different physical assessment skills before and after the activity and assessment. Students' perspectives of the activity were also assessed. Course evaluation surveys were compared with prior course offerings (without simulation) to determine a change in students' interest ratings of the topic and effectiveness of learning activities. The Wilcoxon signed rank test, thematic analysis, and descriptive statistics were used to analyze outcomes. All 106 second professional year students in the elective completed the pre- and post-simulation surveys and course evaluations for 3 offerings. Students' post-simulation average confidence scores increased statistically on all 9 skills compared with pre-simulation scores. All students agreed or strongly agreed "the lecture and simulation activity done in class helped me overcome challenges I had with learning the skill." Students (98%) successfully demonstrated competency on the formal assessment. Compared with previous course offerings, students reported higher interest ratings in the topics and instruction effectiveness when simulation was incorporated into the activity. Low-fidelity simulation is an effective teaching and learning approach to increase students' confidence, knowledge, and interest in pediatric vital signs and physical assessment.

Effectiveness of Learning Activities during the Covid-19 Pandemic

This research article aims to analyze the effectiveness of learning activities implemented by MI Muhammadiyah 2 Kedungbanteng in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic, namely online and offline. Of course, these two learning systems have similarities and differences, strengths and weaknesses both in the learning process and the effectiveness to be achieved. Qualitative research method with a descriptive approach based on field facts, namely a comparative study of offline and online learning. The results of the study and discussion show that there are differences between online and offline learning in terms of methods, media, and learning processes that complement each other in achieving basic competencies. There are several obstacles in the learning activities of these two systems, such as limited learning time because learning time is reduced so that the material presented is not optimal. If it is presented its effectiveness is only about 70%. That is why teachers and parents collaborate with each other to motivate students by giving interesting and fun assignments and all teachers make a video to provide energy and motivation for students even though they are only learning at home.

The Effectiveness of Problem Based Learning-Based Interactive Multimedia for Elementary School Students

Learning activities carried out online have several drawbacks. In online learning activities, teachers experience problems carrying out learning activities. These obstacles include the lack of appropriate media to be used in learning activities. The problems that occur indicate that in learning activities students have difficulty in understanding learning materials and learning motivation is still low. Therefore, in learning activities, teachers must prepare quality learning. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome these problems is through the use of appropriate learning media. So that it can improve the process and better learning outcomes. This study uses a research and development (R&D) approach. The purpose of this research is to develop learning technology in the form of interactive multimedia based on problem-based learning. The steps used in this research and development is the ADDIE development model. The research data was obtained through a media validation sheet instrument by an expert. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively descriptively. The results of the media feasibility test based on the validation results obtained a value of 80%. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that interactive multimedia based on problem-based learning is feasible to be used in learning activities. The results of this study imply that the use of interactive multimedia based on problem-based learning plays an important role in the effectiveness of learning activities.

Covid-19 and its effect on the changing of energy industrial employment learning methods: analysis of the effectiveness

Although online learning at PT PLN (Persero) UPDL Palembang started in 2017, the level of effectiveness of online learning remains unknown for learning level 3 and above. To carry out cost efficiency in implementing the learning activity and to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak, PT PLN (Persero) UPDL Palembang that has a role in employee development plans to convert all of its learning methods to online learning. The effectiveness of learning activity can be measured by using four variables: delivery media, cognitive presence, social presence, and teaching presence. The learning effectiveness at PT PLN (Persero) UPDL Palembang are assessed by means of descriptive exploratory research using mixed quantitative and qualitative methods. It utilized data collection through questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation. Based on the analysis of collected data, it is concluded that online learning at PT PLN (Persero) UPDL Palembang has not been effective as the four parameters have not been fulfilled.

The Effects of Learning Activities on Waste and Sewage Management Using Question and Problems-Based Learning for Undergraduate Students of Mahasarakham University, Thailand

In this study, the purposes of this research were to study and compare knowledge about waste and sewage management, environmental ethics and environmental volunteers using question and problems-based learning, before and after class of undergraduate students, to compare knowledge about waste and sewage management, environmental ethics and the environmental volunteers of undergraduate students with different gender and Grade Point Average (GPA). The sample used in the research were 111 undergraduate students being selected by purposive sampling who were enrolled in the course control waste and sewage in the 1st semester of the academic year 2019. The research tools were a learning activity plans on solid waste and sewage management using question and problems-based learning, knowledge test on waste and sewage management, environmental ethics test and environmental volunteers test. The statistics used in the research were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, including hypothesis testing using t-test, F-test (One-Way MANOVA, One-Way MANCOVA) and Univariate Test. The results showed that: (1) The undergraduate students had an average score of knowledge about waste and sewage management, environmental ethics and environmental volunteers in the posttest was higher than the pretest statistical significance (p < .05); (2) There was no different of knowledge score of waste and sewage management, environmental ethics and environmental volunteers of undergraduate students with different gender (p > .05); (3) There was statistical significant different of knowledge score of waste and sewage management, environmental ethics and environmental volunteers of undergraduate students with different Grade Point Average (GPA) (p < .05).

Improving student learning activities in microbiology through lesson study activities

Lesson study is an educator development program through collaborative and continuous learning based on the principles of collegiality. Lesson study can be implemented at various levels of education from primary schools to universities. The 4 cycles-lesson study presented here is aimed to improve students’ learning activities in microbiology subject in the Biology Education Department, Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. Students who engaged in this activity as much as 28 students. The lesson study activities were conducted in three stages: plan (plan), implementation (do) and reflection (see). Selected topics in this activity were infection and viruses. In addition to those topics, a practical class for (1) preparation of microorganism culture media and its sterilization; and (2) the proliferation of fungi and bacteria was also accomplished. The results showed that there is an improvement in the students learning activity by conducting a lesson study program on a microbiology course. The obtained results prove that lesson study can improve lecturer professionalism. This improvement in lecturer professionalism then will have an impact on the effectiveness of learning activities and on improving the quality of education overall.

Student discussion skill activities on microbiology courses through lesson study

Lesson study is an educator professional development program through collaborative and continuous learning based on the principles of collegiality and mutual learning. This lesson study activity aims to increase student discussion activities in the Microblogy course at the Teacher Training and Education Faculty Biology Study Program at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. This research was a classroom action research using 4 cycles. It used a qualitative design with a problem-based approach. The lesson study implementation phase was planning (Plan), implementing learning (Do) and Reflection (See). The topics chosen in the lesson study activities were (1) Bacteria (2) Fungi, (3) Protozoa, and (4) Viruses. The data collection used observation sheet observation of student discussion activities through lesson study activities. The data collected were then analyzed by descriptive qualitative. The results of lesson study activities showed the increasing in skills activity to student discussions in microbiology courses at the Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. Continuous implementation of lesson study in the lecture process improved the professionalism of lecturers. Along with the increase in lecturer professionalism, it had an impact on the effectiveness of learning activities and improving the quality of education as a whole.
